McDonald's Amsterdam Reviews
It's always nice to come to Europe and go to McDonald's because the burgers taste more fresh than in the United States. Also they typically have gluten-free buns for people who have dietary restrictions. Not all locations had the gluten-free bun but this one did.
Good food Good service
We tried the McCrispy Old Amsterdam and the Mckroket as our mains which were both pretty good, but the Mckroket was my favorite. The cherry-onion sauce on the McCrispy Old Amsterdam reminded me of the cranberry typically had as part of Thanksgiving dinner. The fried beef and creamy mustard sauce in the Mckroket were great! The Twister Fries were a tasty, welcome novelty that we do not have in the U.S. They are similar to Arby's curly fries. We tried adding the paprika seasoning to the Twister Fries and the French Fries, but it didn't really add anything flavor-wise (too subtle).
Best McDonald's I have ever been too, everything was perfect, food was great and came fast, staff was super friendly especially the young Indian women, atmosphere was great. Overall best McDonald's I have ever visited!
Very good place, excellent service. I highly recommend it!
Brilliant service with little to no waiting time
Need to clear some things down there but toilets are BLOCKED OFF! Somebody must have broken their door? Nugget so good and fresh. Smoothie was worth the wait! They almost make me forget about my SITUATION!!!
Insanely fast service, was shocking lol. From order to picking it up was about 1.5 minutes. Food itself was good; atmosphere, well its a fast food chain
Best Public Toilet possible! Perfect.
Dutch McDonald Beef tastes better that the UK
Took little one for food. Quick service reasonably priced for central amsterdam and clean. No complaints
Was able to order on the display as soon as we walked in, they prepared the food in a timely manor and it was not overcrowded when we went in, they also do gluten free options in order to change the bun on any of the burgers.
Dont get the spicy nuggets... they will.come out spicy lol
So much better than any McDonald's in the United States. Damn shame that we have crappy food in the USA.
Yes, I visited a McDonald's while traveling in Amsterdam. I like ordering food items that are particular to the region such as cheese 🧀 bites with curry sauce! It was a tasty snack! Plus there was an extensive vegetarian menu of various sandwiches. Ordering and paying is all done at a kiosk, the restaurant was clean and quiet, and the restrooms were very clean. It costs .50 euro to use the lavatory which is well worth the pittance for admission.
What can I say about the ability to get a gluten free quarter pounder with fries and a coke?! I wish McDonalds worldwide would offer this! Every time I visit Amsterdam I carve out an hour before my train ride back home to go to this location and annihilate as many quarter pounders as I can and then taking a couple with me in a bag. #celiac #coeliac #glutenfree
Amsterdam central in main city good location
One girl works great, we were in the mc at night, she helps with all the processes, with packaging and distribution and at the cash register and makes drinks and pours potatoes
Lovely place, everyone was smiling and polite, the service is also faster than all the others Mc Donalds in the world, definitely recommend! Thanks also to the girl in the kassa, she packed my order so fast, and did the drinks as well! But the WC it’s closed at the night time
I’ve been coming to this McDonald’s every night after 1 AM for many months now, and I can confidently say it’s become a part of my nightly routine — and even more, a small piece of home. The night manager (tall blonde guy)is one of the kindest, most generous people I’ve ever met. Always welcoming, always with a good attitude , always human. The whole night crew deserves praise: they’re consistently respectful, polite, and smiling — even at 2:30 in the morning. That’s not easy, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. People often say McDonald’s is a cold, impersonal place — but that’s not true. When it’s run by the right people, it becomes warm, familiar, and comforting. This team proves that night after night. Thank you for being there for us — the workers of the Amsterdam night — serving something hot, with a side of kindness, when the city is asleep. Respect to all of you. 🙏🍟
Food was decent, same as any mcdonalds. Service was fast but not very friendly
Cheap and affordable on the go snacks; however, the chili chicken burger patties are small and not proportionate with the bun.
Food is very good, but it’s not very clean and also the atmosphere feels a bit sterile.
I don't have a problem with mistakes. I have a problem with how people handle mistakes. If you forget an item in an order, it's okay, but at least acknowledge the fact I have to wait another 10 minutes for my fries while my burger is getting cold. Even a "sorry" would have been nice.
Pick up order here. They forgot an item from my order. I was pissed at first. Tried to call but the phone service was closed at the time. So, I went back. I was more helpless and tired and hopefully the employees were really nice. They gave me my item and change what was cold for me to go back home 👍
One of the only McDonald’s that does gluten free (despite other places saying they do). The burger needs to be personalised to add the bun as it’s not all separate. Bun is actually decent and good quality.
Classic McDonald’s, just as you would expect - but they offer a gluten-free bun, which is amazing!
This is a large McDonald’s location, located on Nieuwendijk, within Amsterdam and is one of the locations in the city to offer Gluten-Free (Glutenvrij) products. The interior is large with plenty of seating, and there is also an upper level. I ordered the Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal; the kiosks had an English language option, which made things easier as I don’t speak Dutch. I found the menu and choices to be vastly complicated; there were so many extras you could add to your meal, including drinks, many of which had different surcharges, and I really struggled ordering because of this. The gluten-free option was also hidden, as you had to go into the regular burger first, and then click customisations to select a gluten-free bun. I did find it to be a little pricey compared to back home in the UK, even for a sachet of sauce; they were charging €0.85. That being said, I did enjoy my meal; the fries were hot and well seasoned, and I did enjoy the Fritessaus to go with them. It was also great to be able to sit in McDonald’s and have a burger with a regular bun; they’d paid attention to my customisations to remove pickles, and I had a pretty good burger which was served in good time. The staff seemed friendly and spoke English, and they tried their best to keep the restaurant area tidy. I did find the “house rules” which were printed around the dining area to be a little strange, but again, the rules were reasonable, and I guess they’ve had problems before, so they felt the need to address it.
The place is okay, somehow clean given the área and the drunk people around. It is the ONLY cafe option around at 7am, we arrived by bus and EVERYTHING is dead at this hour. All the cafes open at 10am. There are machines to order and they make the breakfast super fast. Ours was complete and in fact with extra egg on one sandwich, this mean was better. The food was amazing. The pancakes of 3 euros are better than other breakfast where I payed 12 euros. At this hour (Sunday 8am) is No one charging for the bathroom, but there is an entrance where it says that it costs 0.50 to use it (even if you eat). You may find one or two drunks asking for a burger or coffee next to the ordering machines, just don't pay attention. The place seems shady and weird but it is perfectly safe and confortable to kill some hours. The people seems super tired but they are fully functional, I am impressed by them. The frozen Strawberry and banana is super good. You have to be careful to choose in drinks, you have the 0.25 euros option for the plastic or the 1 euro option, which you have to return the plastic cup to retrieve this 1 euro back.
We stopped by for an easy meal and it was OK. a busy city McDonalds with the usual menu. Some seating inside and the usual wifi.

clean, well-organized. you have to pay ,50 to use the bathroom but other than that its a nice chain in a crowded area

Having to pay 1€ while being a customer to use the bathroom is insane.
First time I’ve ever had to throw out the fries from my order. Completely soggy and oily.
Thank you very much for the little white girl who serves quickly and competently, she is beautiful -70McDonald's
There was no dine in option even though seats were mostly empty. Taste was average mc. They forgot to put sauces in
The place is decent, people clean often. If you need a quick bite, or take out. I could recommend it, but for anything else I would look elsewhere..
The food is good but the service is slow because there are not many workers.
Frequented this very convenient location as it’s just a few turns from our hotel. Besides, it is fun to walk the brick paths that take you here and there, and this McDonald’s location is one of the cafes and shops that are in that touristy part. I love that they have a 2nd floor, but it can be hard to find a table if you come during the weekends. They have several self-ordering kiosks that accept not only Visa but AMEX as well. Sadly though, the last time we visited (Jan. 2019), a worker messed up our order in a big way (wrong drinks, missing items, wrong sauce), but he corrected it when we returned to the front (though it was such an inconvenience as this is one of those busy locations).
First of all, you have to pay to use the bathroom which I am told is normal in that country but I find it a bit strange. Also, the internet did not connect when I tired to. It was crowded too. The food tasted as expected. But everything else was a bit off. The tables were sticky but the bathrooms were quite clean. Overall, you don't need to visit this McDonald's.
That‘s the worst mc‘s I’ve gone in my whole life, seriously! They switched up our orders and treated us very rude, especially the manager. They wanted to force us to buy something we didn’t even order. 😡
I came here really early in the morning so there weren't many people, but they still managed to miss one of the three McMuffins I ordered. I also asked for a sticker so my Frappuccino wouldn't spill but unfortunately this location doesn't have that. The McMuffins we did get were good but I would rather see the cheese melted on the egg. I also think it's horrible you have to pay 25cent SUP while the drink is in a cup without ANY plastic.
Food was fine. But in the evening there were a lot of junkies and the vibe didn't feel safe. And I find it really weird that the junkies didn't get send away by the staff. The other McDonald's in the area are better to go to.
Very very expensive. 30 euro for a big eat burger meal, 2 chicken tenders, a portion of chips and a milkshake - more than twice as much as other McDonald's
Definitely one of the WORST Happy Meals I ever tried. It was more like SAD MEAL. The sandwich tasteless and the fries weren’t even close to McDonald’s pattern. I wouldn’t come here again even if it was for free.
When I read reviews of this location, I thought that people may have exaggerated. But I experienced the service that many other had described in the 30 minutes I ate here. Firstly staff do throw the food at you, not even with a smile. Secondly half our order was missing and I had to go back twice for missing items, we did discover we had more missing but gave up due to the attitude of the at staff The location is dirty and the staff very unprofessional. This location won’t fail due to the location but service could be improved along with the thrown together food.
Dirty place allover, and it costs 1€ to use the bathroom per person, avoid if you can.
It is dirty, the seats are all in crumbs, the service staff cleaned the table, but did not even wipe the table. It is uncomfortable to sit at a dirty table. As for the orders, they were prepared quickly
This place was filthy when we visited on 12th October. Any free tables had not been cleared, never mind clean. On one there was a half smoked cigarette. Floors were filthy and bins overflow. Could not wait to finish our food and get out...but maybe that's the whole idea😜 Also, not enough seats in this place. It's a shambles
honestly what is this, tasted awful, cold and barely any drinks, all ice, way too expensive for the quality. The shop was so dirty there was no clean table and no empty trashcan
Did not shout order out so coffee was just sat getting cold (while other orders were being shouted at), and there is a charge on the toilet use.

Why is it so hard to see, that the tables need cleaning? Also here (the second MacDonalds in town) we were met with dirty tables and staff that didn't clean it. They were not busy at all, but they …

I went in and made an order about 30 minutes ago, to take away, when I picked up the order I looked the assistant in the eye and I said “is that everything ?” She said “yes that’s everything.”.When I got home I was missing the order for one of my children, drink and nuggets.. We share the food that we did have but it wasn’t really enough to feed everybody. I tried to call the restaurant but they didn’t answer and hungup after a recorded message told me “to call again later”. So I guess that means they keep the money and we don’t get the food, right? Not really spot on McDonald’s.. Next time we will go to Burger King.
The older laddies are fanstactic, orders are correct, hot and tasty, plus the place is ordered and clean. They are always 5 Star. However, when they are not there, the place is unorderized , dirty, and unwelcoming. orders are usually wrong, freezing cold and tastes stale. the guy staff are the absolute worse. Rude and unhygienic. 0 Stars
Took food with us as take away, they got the Chili chicken order wrong. The fries containers were only half full and undercooked. No ice in my Cola and hardly any carbonation either. Definitely will not order here again.
Awful place, the prices in amsterdam are high enough without these people scamming you, I ordered a bacon and egg muffin meal and when I got it there was one piece of bacon on it???? So whoever assembled it thought that was perfectly fine?????? It transpires wherever you are in the world...... mcdonalds staff are all bad
FOOD POISONING!!! STAY AWAY!!! I ate 1 burger (the only thing i ate after an entire day), and after 1 hour i went back to the hotel feeling sick, shaking and developed fever, i spent the entire night throwing up that burger !! If there is some kind of Sanitary Inspectors in Amsterdam they should visit that particular Mac restarant and Close it down!!
Closed 15 minutes early unacceptable rude employees
Disgusting and unprofessional. If you are a paying customer and ask to use the bath you’ll be laughed at. The manager on shift on 25th of October will laugh at you when asked to use the bathrooms. Unprofessional and disgusting. As a paying customer you should be able to pay for the service. Everyone on shift seemed to be on drugs and high. As a paying customer I should be able to speak to someone about my disrespect and complete disregard to my requests. Unfortunately no one cared about my concern. All I wanted to do is eat food and enjoy the atmosphere. Unfortunately the manager could careless about me.
I wish I could give -1 star...!! Spending a fxxxing load on food and you have to pay for the toilet! If it was clean and there was a friendly person it would be fine, but I wouldn't even give my death dog this experience.
Staff are extremely rude & unprofessional. Possibly the very worst McDonald's I've been in. Food was good & hot though.
Went to grab some food on my way to the station. Stopped for the toilet and the sign clearly states 'o.50c, not required' to use the toilet. It is not compulsory. I tried to use the toilet and was stopped by a member of staff (cleaner?) Who would not let me enter until I payed. I refused, and got the manager who agreed with me and said I can use the loo (obviously). On my way out of the toilet, the same member of staff unleashed a tirade of abuse in my direction, phrases such as 'are you broken in the head boy?!', 'you want to start something?! I will give it to you!', 'mind your own business! And stop talking to other people' were amongst some which stuck with me. The member of staff also slapped my arm, and was pointing at me an inch from my face whilst shouting all of this. I went up stairs and spoke to the manager and explained what happened. What I got in response was a mediocre apology and a 'sorry, I will talk to her.' Unacceptable, unbelievable. Hopefully this is a one-off experience.
Couldn't order using the machine, was defective and wouldn't accept payment or print any receipt. People working here seem to have a hard time communicating with customers. The double big tasty I ordered was wet and meat didn't have any taste at all.. stay away from this place unless you want to pay too much money for trash food.
Ordered a cheap 50c ice cream cone via the machine. Don't see my number on the screen. Asked the guy handing out stuff why isn't my order on the street.Waited more than 5 min for ONE simple ice cream cone that takes 10 secs to make. Had to go bug the McDelivery line to get my cone.the guy got me it IMMEDIATELY. Ridiculous.
If you enjoy being ignored, you will love this place. I went there today around 11h30 pm, I was literally the only guest in an empty restaurant, and the 2 people standing by the counter (shift leader and employee) LITERALLY turned their backs on me and ignored my presence until my order was ready. McDonald's is not famous for having a good approach to it's own guests, but in a pandemic time, you could, at least, try to improve this topic.
This place had 0 working bathrooms. How is that even legal to have your employees working with no working bathroom. I ordered food asked to use the restroom and the guy said our restrooms are closed none to use.
If closing time is at 3am why at 2.45 was already closed??? STICK TO YOUR CLOSING TIME!!
Paid a euro to go toilet just for it to be disgusting and smell like human shit. Food was also below average foe a McDonald's
€0.5 fee to wash your hands before eating your ordered meal is not fair as I have to touch the sandwich with hands. This is a health hazard ☢️ All the others brands give toilet access for customers, Starbucks, Subway, Burger King etc. Is it legal to charge the money and give no receipt? @Management: Why no employee is wearing name tags, including the shift manager? Is this a new McD policy? Also the above question.
I have order a veggie mc chicken but they give me one with meat. In Italy we have not, so I didn't know how was the packaging. I trusted in you. But now. No more. 🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡😡
A McMisadventure in Amsterdam Trying McDonald’s in different countries started as a casual curiosity. A cultural experiment. A bite-sized way to test how global sameness bends to local flavour. But in this Amsterdam branch, I got more sociology than sodium. Let’s start with the lighting: imagine a dentist’s office - if the dentist hated joy. My order? Marked "for here", delivered in the full heartbreak of disposable packaging. When I asked at the counter, the staff didn’t answer. I did. Silently. To myself. I had the most standard of standard orders, and yet somehow - like the chosen one of single-use chaos - I was the only person blessed with a Pfand cup. Naturally, I reclaimed my deposit like it was a moral victory. Taste-wise? Let’s just say: if blandness were a crime, this place would be serving a life sentence. Verdict? Do not pass go. Do not collect fries. Do not set foot in here unless you’re researching despair for a novel.
Ordered coffee on self service screen which I then had to ask them to make at the counter, they then attempted to extort me out of €1 to use the toilet!
You have to pay for the toilet even when you have bought the food. This is not ok
Dit is een gevaarlijke plek voor mensen met voedselallergie of voedselintolerantie. If you have a food intolerance or allergy avoid this place; shocking disregard by server and management. I clearly asked twice in Dutch if the store had gluten free bread (I know they usually have but wanted check they had it in stock). I was served a normal double quarter pounder meal and I am suffering the consequences. I reported the incident to the store manager who advised that the server did not speak Dutch and I advised her that the server had confirmed yes yes and I’d ordered the entire meal and options in Dutch. I was told that it was my fault for not checking the receipt, but the receipt is barely legible. Naturally I am reporting this to the city council, McDonald’s head office and the Celiac Disease Foundation. Genuinely my first mistake since being diagnosed celiac four years ago. The manager asked me if I wanted my money back or what else they could do. I said they could have a change of practice to ensure that people with food allergies or intolerances are not served dangerous food. The manager replied that the processes were fine and that the fault was mine.
Unbelievable! The food tasted average and although we left money with 4 people, we had to pay extra for the toilet. The tables and chairs were incredibly dirty too. I don't know what the staff here get paid for :) I've never seen anything like this, it was my first and last time here.
Apparently the washroom is cash only even if you order. The only cash comment seems real shady
I was trying to enjoy the stale cheeseburger they served me at the “restaurant” when the manager yelled at me and said no immigrants in my store. I will not be coming back because of bad food quality and racism
They take a long time to prepare food even when there are no other orders. The toilet is paid, and the cleaning lady is very rude and ill-mannered. I hope you will learn your lesson...
Gotta be the slowest McDonald’s in the country. I came here for a McMuffin on 05/10/25 and waited over 20 minutes for a rubbery and stone cold hockey puck. The staff were just chatting amongst themselves and not really attending to orders or the group of waiting customers. My sandwich had been sat on the side for a long while before they bagged it and gave it to me. Really annoying way to start the day.
I ordered a Maccrispy and a mini Wrap and it took 15 minutes, the kitchen man was left alone and no one helped him, It was filled with orders with 3 pending and no one came to help him, I placed my order late, the girl looked at me with disgust and didn't even say my number, very bad service and I had pending orders in the kitchen (jewelry) The kitchen staff had jewelry in their ears, no hairnets. The order was white with a button-down shirt.
I wanted to use the toilet and there was a commotion when I placed my money into the machine. Then there's this crazy African lady berating another person and then me for putting 20 cents. I was like, wait!!! I have money and looking for some coins in my bag. I took the 20 cents and went away. Hideous experience. Crazy lady.
