We came across this restaurant by chance while walking from another place. We checked the menu and decided to walk in, and from the very first moment the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is very cozy with a great atmosphere and a really good vibe. It instantly made us feel comfortable. The food was top-notch. We started with the mushroom sauce, which was beautiful, followed by the onion soup — also excellent. The mushroom toast was outstanding, and the steak was exceptional. We were told the steak was prepared overnight, and you could really taste the care and effort that went into it. The staff were extremely helpful throughout our visit, which made the whole experience even better. A lovely surprise and a place we’d happily return to. Thank you!

The steak tartare was amazing! We also ordered the chef's steak, but we weren't impressed. It was just good. What's great is that you get unlimited fries with your steak or burger. This restaurant is truly worth recommending. The service is outstanding!

Really beautiful spot, calm and chic with a diversified menu where you will for sure find your happiness. The staff is amazingly professional and attentive and their christmas decorations is quite something. A true haven of peace for a relaxing break.

found a good restaurant in heart of canal. The atmosphere slightly dark but in a cool way. They offer only steak and burgers. Not expensive as you got a really good food. Over all love the experience

We enjoyed our dinner at Bleu. Intimate restaurant with wonderful service by Donato. We started with beer and a baguette appetizer with garlic butter. The baguette was hard and crispy on the outside and warm and soft on the inside. I had the French Fish Stew and it was absolutely amazing. Lots of shellfish, mussels, shrimp and fish in a tasty broth. We found Bleu walking between canals and the posted menu on the street appealed to the group. They have a nice range from burgers to vegetarian. It is definitely worth stopping for lunch or dinner.

Here's the translation: "We had an excellent time at Restaurant Bleu in Amsterdam. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by an incredibly attentive, warm, and funny team of servers who really made the experience friendly. The food was simply outstanding, with perfectly balanced flavors and well-prepared dishes. As for the atmosphere, it’s both classic and soft, bringing a cozy touch amidst the surrounding eccentricity of Amsterdam. A true haven of peace in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. I highly recommend it, a solid 5/5!"

A cute French cozy place with good food and service. I had the fresh catch of the day and so appreciated that salt and pepper were put on the side for people who watch their sodium intake. We enjoyed a friendly Dutch couple sitting next to us and we had a great evening chatting with them.

We found this place on Maps by searching for nearby restaurants during my 1 week stay in Amsterdam and it was the best choice. It's one of the best places in town, close to the Central Station. The food is amazing and the staff is very nice! We loved the mushroom starter and chocolate crumble dessert. We had dinner twice here :)8

Amazing food! We had a party of six to black and blue, but was told we couldn't fit, so the barstaff rang Blue to book us a table there, and holy smokes what a great place! Liena and Hadi looked after us, gave us the best advice on food and drinks, and a great history lesson of the location (I think you need to out the mattress under the stairs again!) - service was impeccable, highly recommend these two for their hospitality The steak I had... O yes! amazing! (Photo) We ate so much finely cooked, perfectly seasoned food, matched with perfect wines, we had to roll down the stairs afterwards. In the words of my wife, it was.... "The best Duck I've ever had"

We stopped at Bleu for a quick coffee and glass of beer. However, the place, the atmosphere, the waiter and Jason, the manager made us feel so welcome and they were so nice and friendly that we stayed for dinner. Dinner was super, great quality, perfect presentation. Service was impeccable. This has been by far one of the best restaurant experiences we had in years. THANK YOU with all my heart! -Paolo

We showed up close to closing and were seated immediately. Had a wonderful meal of foie gras, Cornish game hen and the burger for mains. Dame Blanche for dessert and a carafe of the house Malbec. Lingered for a while. One of the better meals we’ve had in the Netherlands.

Really really liked it! Recommend their bites-croquets and bitterballen-super DELICIOUS! Good drinks and spacious sitting area. Nachoes were a massive quanity and very salty but freshly made.

We recently dined at Le Bleu and had a wonderful experience. The foie gras served with the tarte tatin was especially delicious — a perfect balance of richness and sweetness that really stood out. The chef’s steak was cooked to absolute perfection, tender and full of flavor. Overall, the meal was outstanding, and I’d highly recommend Le Bleu to anyone looking for refined dishes and great service in a relaxed atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning if I get back to Amsterdam!

I’ve been frequenting this place since the spring of 2018, believe it or not. It all started off with the lobster dish they used to have, before moving to the steak tartare these past two years, since late 2023. The food is always impeccable, as does the service, which never fails to impress. The ambiance is cosy and it almost always feels like a slice of home. Some Hallmark-like home, that you never truly been in before, let alone owned. A massive shoutout to Hans, David, the other guys, and the Dutch lady in Black as always. Great team. Highly-recommended and a must-visit, without the faintest shred of a doubt. A usual and constant pilgrimage for me, whenever I find myself back in Amsterdam.

Lovely, cozy, elegant. Friendly young staff, great food. The perfect semi-hidden gem just off the canal. The Xmas decorations, lights and wooden beams made it all click for me. 10/10

Had a group dinner at Bleu and they were kind enough to accommodate a large group reservation for 10. A cosy restaurant (with a loft), and great ambience. Enjoyed the chef’s steak, French onion soup and coq au vin. Flavours were perfect, and the free flow fries were a nice touch. However service could have been more attentive (had to remind a few times before we got our water - but granted it was a busy peak period when we visited). Overall still a pleasant experience dining at Bleu.

We went for a birthday dinner and it was a really lovely and wholesome experience! We went around 17:00, and around 18:30 it started to get quite busy so we would advise to get a reservation or go a little earlier than what would normally be a dinner rush. We had a soft baguette with delicious butter as a starter. We had a blood orange cocktail which was 10/10 and the Kiev Mule which was very refreshing with very subtle flavors. For our main, we had chefs steak with butter and herbs and pepper sauce which were both delicious. They came with unlimited fries! We also shared the cheddar burger which was great, however had a strong tomato paste flavour that took away from other flavours (not a problem was still delicious). For dessert we had the chocolate crumble with caramel ice cream which was delicious and they took the time to sing happy birthday :). Our waitress was very kind and she had only been in the Netherlands for two months, but was so welcoming. We will be back!

Eating at Bistro Bleu was awesome. The food was amazing and the place was really lively, though we did start off a bit annoyed. But that didn't really spoil the whole fun evening. On a busy Saturday night, I felt excited but also a bit mixed up. The bistro was full of energy, but we had a small problem at the start. We were sitting upstairs, kind of alone, and it took slightly more than 20 minutes just to get our drinks. This little mix-up was a bit of a letdown at first. And, trying to get a server's attention to order our food, even though they were close by, was a bit annoying. It looked like people sitting downstairs got their orders faster. As the night went on, any small issues we had at first were quickly forgotten because the food was just so good. Starters The scallops were amazing – cooked just right and came with a really tasty pillow of peas that was a nice surprise. The smoked salmon on toast was simple but really well done, with great quality ingredients that all worked well together. Main Courses The French Fish Stew really stood out. It was a big, tasty mix of seafood, veggies, and a creamy sauce, and there was so much of it I couldn’t even finish it all. My partner had a Black Angus tenderloin that was just perfect – it looked great and tasted even better, especially with the peppery sauce that made it even more special. Dessert The Tarte Tatin with caramel ice cream was the perfect end to a great meal. It was just the right size for sharing. Final Thoughts Bistro Bleu really shows off how good food and drinks can be, all in a lively and pretty place. The slow service at the start was a small hiccup, probably because they needed more staff. And if you want your food faster, sitting downstairs might be a good idea. But honestly, the quality of the food stands out on its own, regardless of the wait. Bistro Bleu is definitely a place you should try, with each dish feeling like it was made with a lot of attention 🙌🏻

After a beautiful concert, a group of friends and I dined at Bistro Bleu, a charming spot in Jordaan. Housed in a classic Amsterdam building, the restaurant exudes a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The ambiance was delightful, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Seating is limited on the ground floor, and we climbed a steep, winding staircase to our reserved table on the second floor. While the restaurant was bustling, the service, though friendly, was notably slow. For my main course, I ordered the Angus tenderloin, requesting it medium rare. Unfortunately, it arrived dry and closer to medium well. What I found particularly disappointing was that the steak did not come with a sauce. It had to be ordered separately—unlike my experiences in French restaurants. Instead, I had to pay extra for it, which felt odd. Dessert was a mixed experience—it was far too large, and the chocolate cake crumble was overpowering. Neither of us were able to finish it. A smaller, more balanced portion would have been preferable. Despite these hiccups, we enjoyed a wonderful evening in good company. Bistro Bleu is worth a visit for its ambiance, though a few improvements could make the dining experience even better.

Very cozy restaurant with a nice french menu. The staff is friendly and the service was quite fast. Perfect for two persons but also suitable for groups. The average price varies from €25-35 per person. The mussel dish tend to be a main course but considering the amount and size that were served was too small and unfortunately not filling. We had to order extra fries two times (unlimited) to compensate the dish. Overall we would recommend this restaurant and definitely come back soon.

The place looks very Élégant !! The nemu is also very nice, the prices are very high. I was thinking of a more gourmet cuisine, also of the service. Comparing the price, the food is average, portions small, very small. Overall not a bad experience.

I really like this place! Very cute restaurant. The stairs are pretty. Comfortable seating and tables seem to have a nice amount of space between them. Great service. We accidentally made a reservation for the wrong night but luckily they were able to get us in. Thank you! We started with the bread and butter. Both butters were flavorful and the bread was toasty. The French onion soup was sweeter than I expected but rich and quite good. I am craving it today. It was served with a nice piece of brown bread with melted cheese on top. Nice to be able to dip it in the soup. Yum! For entrees I went with the shrimp and the hot cheese (two appetizers). The shrimp had great flavor. Garlic and orange and wood smoked. So delicious! The got cheese medallions were served with a fresh fig, walnuts, beets, and some crostini. Husband had the butcher steak. He said it was tender, cooked perfectly, and quite good. It came with some hot and crispy fries and a salad. Great service and food. We will be back!

Went here on a whim, and they got us in immediately. Cosy, chill atmosphere, bordering on fancy...but not overdoing it. Solid burger and my girlfriend enjoyed whatever the attached picture is.

We slurped mussels here after going to Deco Sauna. It’s a charming spot and the mussels were good not the best. My broth is better, just saying.

I had lunch here and ordered the Eggs Norwegian. The dish was nicely presented, but the eggs were cold. My tea was also not hot. The door kept opening, which made it a bit uncomfortable. The service, however, was friendly. Overall, the experience was okay, but it could have been much better.

Nice enough bistro in a lovely location in Amsterdam. The interior of the restaurant is very tasteful and intimate. The food is also nice and as described. Would have expected slightly higher quality of the meat from the tartare, but was still tasty. Wine selection is good!

Loved the cozy vibe here and the wine list was definitely on point. Service was a little slow though, and the cheese platter didn’t quite live up to Dutch standards — would’ve been so much nicer with some local cheeses. Still, a charming spot to linger over a glass.

We had high expectations considering the high rating and the beautiful images. While the main floor is indeed very nice (but crowded) we were seated in the basement which was not nearly as nice. The food was fantastic but they struggled with the service. Ordered items were missing and we could not eat together. Even a simple water bottle took very long. Throughout the evening some of us had to layer up because of cold air.

All in all I expected a lot better from this restaurant. There are other restaurants in the area that don't have these con's. Pro's: - Good food - Not a long waiting time in between courses - Nice interior Con's: - There were fruit flies everywhere, flying around the food and drinks. We moved twice but kept seeing them. According to my friend the toilet was filled with them. - Where we were seated (downstairs) it was possible to hear everything the staff was saying to each other, it was very distracting. Would recommend them to talk somewhere else. - While there were guests eating they were moving the trash out through the restaurant. It was a lot.

If this (see photo) is medium, then what is rare? The incompetence in the kitchen could lead to someone getting seriously sick. After I complained the waitress was so kind as to take our drinks (1 glass of wine and 1 glass of WATER) off the bill. I wasn’t satisfied and asked for more off. Call me a whiner, but this was a €65 ribeye. They should know how to cook it. Steak served with lukewarm fries and mayo. I can’t say the meal cured my hunger, but it certainly ended my appetite!

This restaurant was quite disappointing. The staff were very friendly, but the quality of the food was underwhelming at best. The beef bourguignon was terrible (the beef was super tough, and the presentation was very unappealing). Also, the restaurant charges a crazy amount for bread, which is very unique and quite unacceptable. Overall, a negative experience; it is a horrible feeling to pay an exorbitant amount of money for poor value.
