The fresh ingredients made daily is always a treat! We swung by during the Lunar New Year celebration at DCA and definitely wanted to try out the strawberry green tea bread pudding. Wasn't overly sweet and it came out extremely warm, which only made the entire item even tastier. Looking forward to coming back and trying additional items, even though it was a busy weekend for the new year as well as Valentines in February. Great times and vibes all around!
The Baseline: For theme park to-go food stands the food must be tasty, have an experience, reliable service, and be a part of the experience. Food: Bread! You come here for the sourdough and the bread puddings. Tonight’s visit was for the sourdough loafs and the Mickey-shaped sourdough. Great bread. Service: Great service but use the Disneyland Mobile order app to time your food pickups. Love the service from the cast members though. Ambiance: Total San Fransokyo vibes via Big Hero Six. This is an awesome themed establishment in an awesome themed land.
YUM! The sourdough bread here is super good (crispy outside, soft and warm inside) and combine them with soup/ mac n' cheese it's to die for! Their bread bowls are big, filling, and flavorful! We got their clam chowder and mac n' cheese bread bowl. Would definitely recommend this place! Yummy and worth the price!
Tried this restaurant inside Disneyland Adventure Park and was pleasantly surprised! Even though they’re super busy and serving in large volumes, the food was still very delicious and flavorful. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the park!
We usually get their miso clam chowder, however, tried 2 different dishes this time and were not disappointed! Walt’s chili comes in a Mickey shaped bread bowl! It was not shown on the physical menu at the restaurant - so glad we checked the mobile menu and mobile ordered! Soba noodles were decent, refreshing and healthy on a hot day. A little too heavily salted with soy sauce for my taste buds.
If you're in the mood for hearty soups in a sourdough bread bowl, cafe-style specialties, and desserts, Aunt Cass Café might be up your alley. I've been enjoying the food, snack, and drink options at Aunt Cass Café for a while. They also offer plant-based sourdough bread in traditional and fun Disney shapes, as well as seasonal food, beverages, and sippers. A few entrées I've enjoyed here are the Turkey Pesto Club and the hearty Clam Chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. There's also an option to have the soups without a bread bowl. The price, however, is the same with or without the bread bowl. The bread puddings I've tried have been delicious and not overly sweet. The seasonal Taro Bread Pudding and Pumpkin Spice Bread Pudding were excellent. Check the Disneyland mobile app for the latest menu and mobile ordering features. Magic Key pass discounts also apply here. Usually, there is plenty of seating, but it is challenging during peak park crowds.
The new Sanfransokyo square isn't updated with this restaurant, but it looks so cute! I come here every time for a delicious bread bowl! I prefer both clam chowder and the new curry bowl. Trust me, try either one to your preference! Such a cute atmosphere and vibrant music, I just love to rest here for a filling bite to eat!
Timing is everything for this place, I would no recommend coming here at the end of the day. We unfortunately did just that. We got a large sour dough mickey bread and it was fantastic. My only complaint on the food was that was about all we could get. The themeing is a little missed on interior. Overall it was still a fun bakery but didn't really feel like one.
We love walking through the Sourdough Baking tour, but the sourdough bowl dishes we ordered at Aunt Cass Cafe were DELICIOUS! We tried both clam chowder and the Mac & Cheese and couldn't decide which we favored more.
Edit November 2024: This is now Aunt Cass Cafe and they still serve delicious soups in bread bowls. I tried both the clam chowder and broccoli cheddar with bok choy. I did find the soup a little salty this time around but the flavors were still good - the clam chowder had lots of clams! The staff are very friendly as well. 2022: We came here several months ago and I’ve been meaning to post a review. Pacific Wharf was one of my favorite places to grab a quick bite. The sandwich was packed with deli meat - it was delicious and filling! I also got the Cajun soup, which had shrimp and rice inside - their soups are very flavorful and tasty. I can’t wait to come back!
I ordered the chicken pot pie bread bowl. It was really good! Just wish they had an option for the soup with a slice of bread instead of the bread bowl. It's just too much bread.
Got the turkey pesto club. It was really good! The bread and the pesto were the best part. It’s a really big sandwich and it comes with sea salt chips. Also tried Japanese-style fluffy cheesecake. It was very sweet and moist
Food is great at this place, but the seating area could be better. There are too many birds around which make it challenging to find a clean spot to sit and enjoy your meal. I would recommend taking your food outside of San Fransokyo Square.
Absolutely the best clam chowder I’ve ever had in my life! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served super fast. We also tried one of their cocktails — delicious and well-balanced. The only downside was the long line and how crowded it gets, but honestly, it makes sense given how good the food is. Totally worth the wait!
I love eating at Pacific Wharf. My daughter loves the Mac n' cheese in the bread bowl and my boys clam chowder in the bread bowl. I like their salad, minus the bread. It's too much bread for me, personally. I like grabbing a quick bite here at the end of the night.
We were at DCA on a cold, rainy day and the sourdough soup bowls really hit the spot. We don't like the soggy sourdough so we place our order while in line so we can ask them to put the soup on the side. My granddaughter granddaughter had the Mac and cheese and loved it.
For amusement park food, Pacific wharf Cafe was GOOD!! I loved having non greasy food options. The sourdough bread is amazing. (born and raised Californian but have lived in Texas for 10 years. I sure miss real sourdough!!! ) I had the turkey sandwich and it was perfect. My family had 2 of their salads and both enjoyed them. My kids had the kids sandwich and the bread was in the shape of a goldfish. They were excited about that. It was just enough food to fill me up without being too full for rides. I wish I had a restaurant like this in Texas!
Nice location inside California Adventure (Disney). Good food and Bread! Fairly priced for portions. Deli sandwiches were great. Elote-style corn chowder in sourdough bread bowl was awesome!
We've been coming to California Adventure Park for years. We always get a lunch or dinner at this cafe. You'll love the chowder bread bowl but we had the turkey sandwich on sourdough and it was lovely. You should also try the bread tour if you haven't - history of sourdough bread that's entertaining. Seating is outdoors but that's usually great in sunny Southern California. This latest trip was the best because Disney now has the app where you can order food. So we got beers at Karl Strauss, found a table, then ordered food from the app. It said when to show up and to a special counter just for mobile orders. The food was ready incredibly quickly and really good. The prices were very fair too
The bread bowls are soooo good. They’re an unexpectedly satisfying meal for theme park food. I look forward to going here when I take a trip to Disneyland!
The food was delicious. Best Mac n cheese I've ever had. Ordered it for my kids and ended up eating there every day. If someone knows please post what they make the cheese sauce from!
First time here. Ordered takeout counter service. The clerk was amazing! They were patient and checked for allergy information while taking our order, even offered to have soup on the side for bread bowl item. This was one of the best QSR we tried and were pleasantly impressed with the food quality, freshness and overall customer service experience. I made a point to tell the manager about this. When I returned for a bag, they were very happy to provide one. I definitely will return to this restaurant location and highly recommend it. 100% Bravo!! Side note: sourdough bread is fresh and delicious!!
We had a great meal at Aunt Cass Café on Friday, March 28! The mac and cheese in a bowl was creamy and cheesy, and the sourdough bowl was delish. The Turkey Pesto Club on focaccia had great flavors and fresh toppings. To top it all off, a duck flew by and landed right next to our table, so cute! We’d definitely eat here again. Tip - use mobile ordering rather than standing in long lines.
Pacific Wharf made the Chinese Chicken salad with no chicken (I am a vegetarian). This was a flavorful and filling salad served in one of the fragrant bread bowls. I loved the crunchy elements of wonton, almonds and fresh lettuce topped with a sesame-ginger dressing. Disneyland Resort has a lot of great vegetarian options, but sometimes I like to branch out a little and I was definitely not dissapointed.
Great curry beef bread bowl, even though the bread was actually stone hard. I had to tear it with my hands and they were stained yellow for a while. It’s also quite hard to find a place to sit sometimes, and the atmosphere was way too.. American?
I really enjoy the food here. It's comforting and delicious. I get the clam chowder in a bread bowl every time. It's consistently good and with mobile ordering, it's very quick too. I do wish they had a better kids menu but that is my only complaint.
Had the seasonal soup the other day and it was fantastic! It's beer cheese and bacon soup and is one of my favorite meals ever at California Adventure. I got my soup on the side and dipped the sourdough bread into the soup. I wish this was on the regular menu so I could have it all the time. I also got the pumpkin bread pudding and it was just okay, the flavor was great but there were no crispy parts, just soggy everywhere. Lots of seating along the water and my daughter enjoyed feeding the ducks the rest of my bread. The line gets really long at standard meal times so use mobile order and save about 30 minutes.
Definitely a go to place for lunch or dinner! The bread bowls are just amazing. Always fresh! Mac and cheese in a bread bowl is something you need in your life. All of the soups they offer are delicious. They have some sandwiches as well which have always been good. Nothing spectacular but always good. They also have a seasonal bread pudding, and they are always delicious. Most recently I had the cookies n cream bread pudding and it did not disappoint!!! So good!
If you enjoy Clam Chowder, you should definitely check this place out! Great big chunks of Clam, and absolutely delicious bread bowl! Also, friendly-tip order mobile order. I ordered and immediately was called up to get my food, don't waste time in line!
The clam chowder bread bowls are a must for our group whenever we come here-we always make sure to eat here at least once on the trip. The Bakery tour nearby is also very fascinating-learned a lot about sourdough!
Very simple and very delicious. Their sour dough bread is perfectly balanced and out of this world tasty. All of their soups are pretty basic, tasty, and perfect for dipping. They also have really good turkey pesto club sandwiches and salads.
My VERY favorite place in the park to stop and get a bread bowl. We tried the Bacon Cheddar Ale soup this time, and it's the best one I've ever had! I've never been able to find sourdough ANYWHERE that tastes better than what they offer here. Highly highly recommend, especially for sourdough lovers!
The newest upgraded restaurant to Disney’s California Adventure! Went here for the opening weekend of San Fransisyoko and my friends and I just had to eat at the themed Aunt Cass restaurant!! My friends and I tried the curry bowl and shrimp Katsu sandwich. I was expecting both items to be bland because it is a theme park but the Japanese inspired menu was delicious! Not only did it have enough spice, the price was worth it the money and wait! Just for fun we also ordered the last Vampire Mickey Boudin Shaped Sourdough Bread! A great way to start the Halloween holiday! Service was fast and ! Thanks Disney!
Lovely place, I absolutely loved the food. The broccoli soup bread bowl is to die for and super filling. Cheesecake is fluffy , reminds me of an angel food cake texture. What made the experience was the woman that cashed us out, super nice and friendly. She was very helpful and just genuinely such a sweet person! Would 100% recommend
Stopped by for a late lunch since we love clam chowder. The bread is amazing!!!! Worth getting just got that reason, fresh and delicious. The clam chowder was very hot and tasty. There are lots of onions in it, so beware. Other than that, loved eating lunch out by the view of California Adventure. Definitely stop in while here.
I did not have high hopes for the clam chowder so I was a little wary when purchasing but it looked really good. The clam chowder did not disappoint. It was very very good. It was my favorite meal I ate at California Adventure. The chowder was thick and the bread was very fresh. I will absolutely come back during my next trip
We knew we had to have the sourdough bread bowls from here for a meal. I highly recommend using mobile order for this place and just going directly to pick up your order instead of standing in line. They only have 3 options for the bread bowl. We got the macaroni and cheese, and the curry beef, which is Japanese curry if you are familiar with that. It is a very specific flavor that you have to like, but if you do then it is very good. The mac and cheese was good but was giving velveta cheese vibes. The bowl itself is mostly hollowed out so the top that they cut off will give you the most bread, and then you can scrape some from insidfe your bowl but not much. Since the bowl is hollowed out you can’t really eat the bowl with much success, since it is hard and crispy on the outside and hard to tear off. We also got the Shrimp Katsu sandwich which was adequate but just okay. The garlic chips that come with it have a Funyuns texture which is interesting. They have other Asian inspired things you can order here as well as sourdough bread, which they are famous for. There is a large combined outdoor seating area in the middle of all of the food places here. Many of the seating area was taken up and was busy, so you do have to scout out a table if you are there during any type of mealtime. We also mobile ordered some beers from the cervezeria right there as well for some drinks. Overall, we love having the bread bowls and will probably be back on our next trip for more.
The Pacific Wharf is a really awesome spot in California Adventure. Its the perfect place to sit and eat lunch and dinner. They have a ton of restaurants and even more shade! The Cafe has these amazing bread bowls that you can fill with either soup or salad! It was way to hot to get soup so we got the apple, pecan, chicken salad that was super yummy and the bread was of course amazing! This salad is $11.49.
Had the mac 'n cheese in a bread bowl - so yummy! Mac 'n cheese was cheesy, creamy, and the noodles were done just right. Bread bowl was delicious - love sourdough! It was still warm! Soft, airy, and so good. Price was ok - $13 for the meal.
This restaurant had fantastic service for people with food allergies, a great view of Pixar Pier, and mouth-watering mac'n'cheese! I came here several times during my trip because I just couldn't stay away. My only complaint is that seating is scarce.
This place is amazing, I mainly go here for the sourdough bread, but I need to try more items here. This time around, we tried the yuzu bread pudding. It was warm and comforting. The flavors complimented each other. I stayed in line waiting for them to open. It wasn't too bad. Service was fast, and staff that work there were super friendly. Baymax sipper was so cute. Did you know Baymax sourdough is more expensive than Mickey? I bought both, lol.
Aunt Cass Café was a perfect Disney day win. I grabbed the clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl and it was so good—hot, creamy, and comforting, with a bread bowl that was fresh, tangy, and sturdy enough to hold up to the last bite (the best part). Exactly what you want when you’ve been logging miles around the parks. Quick, easy, and genuinely delicious. I’d happily order this again on my next DCA trip.
After visiting Disneyland and the areas in both parks, this was the last stop of the day as both my wife and I were hungry and we had seen people eat a huge bun and a pasta in the middle of it. My wife and I got the same food order, Mac and Cheese which can be served in the bun itself or in a pot to the side (if you ask for it). On the menu board, it is NOT displayed that this is vegetarian but after asking the very kind worker, they assured us that it is vegetarian. The Mac & Cheese was really good! Very creamy, tasty and full of flavour, I would recommend it. The bun HOWEVER, is a mixed bag. If it was hot and fresh, it would be an easy 5/5 dish. However it was mildly cold and could tell it had been left out for awhile which made it hard to chew. The butter packets that’s supplied for free inside, are also pretty hard and difficult to spread, which doesn’t help with the bun and after awhile, it feels like your jaw will hurt with the amount of chewing required to swallow the bun. OVERALL: For $12.99 for the Mac and Cheese with the bun I think is pretty good value as the bread it pretty big in size.
Aunt Cass Cafe is right by The Bakery Tour facility, the specialty here is the sour dough bread and stuffed with clam chowder, Mac cheese, and other soup into the bread. The sour dough bread is surely delicious, but the portion of the clam chowder is too small, not a good value meal here.
Aunt Cass Café is has a great selection of soups in bread bowls. I ordered the chili served in a Mickey Mouse sourdough bread bowl. The bread was fluffy and paired perfectly with the chili. Warning: the chili is hot! Not hot as in spicy (though there was a little kick to it), hot as in scalding the roof of your mouth. We did mobile pick-up but the staff were pretty rude and disorganized.
Delicious bread bowl soups!!! Chicken taco and potato+
Bread bowl needs more soup but what was in there was fantastic. Had the shrimp soup bread bowl during the world of wonder show. You definitely need a table to eat it though. We used the top of the waste bins like animals. Use the mobile ordering!!! I can't understand why you people don't do it.
The clam chowder in sourdough bread bowls is outstanding. Best lunch we had in our three days at Disney, hands down. Plenty of seating outside, but if there's any kind of breeze your food gets cold really quickly. The mobile order option is awesome, but pickup is disorganized.
I LOVE disney bread bowls and this is the best place in California Adventure to get one. The only downside is there's usually a pretty long wait especially around dinner time, so best way to avoid this is to make a mobile order through the app. The bread bowls usually come with or choice of clam chowder, broccoli and cheddar, or seasonal soup. You can also get salads inside them as well. Besides those, they also sell a pretty good sandwich. Every time I go to California Adventure this place is always my go to, and I highly recommend checking it out if you haven't already.
Rich, amazing soup in a fresh bowl makes for the best meal that I've had so far in California Adventure (let's see when I can afford Ariel's Grotto). Most of the bread bowls are freshly made, and I love the sourdough flavor with the creamy Broccoli Cheddar soup. It's reasonably priced at a little under 10 bucks, they do give you a lot of food. Sometimes its hard to even finish the bread! I usually get it before or during the wait for World of Color and its more satisfying for a dinner if the weather is cold. This is my usual dinner whenever I go to DCA and it never fails to disappoint!
This is a great grab and go option if you want a Disney bread bowl!! The workers were super fast and kind!! If you are interested in the cold soba noodles, know that the sauce is very-ginger forward. It was a little too much for me. Nonetheless I enjoyed the meal and service overall,
Love the bread bowl and chowder. The pastrami sandwich was also very delicious. You can't beat the sourdough bread here. Boudin bakery is the best! My only complaint is that they could do slightly better managing the lines.
The soup in a bread bowl is great. I had the clam chowder, and my wife had the loaded potato. The Mac and cheese was soupy, and the pasta was overcooked. My kids didn't like it. Online ordering is quick and easy.
Seriously the chocolate chip cookie is the best cookie on Disney property! Also was pleasantly surprised by the Mac n cheese in a bread bowl! The only reason for 4 stars is the absolute chaotic mess it was to pick up our food.
That was the first time I'd ever had oriental chicken salad in a bread bowl. The salad was excellent, the bread is too, but maybe next time I'll have it separate. My daughter said her clam chowder was good, but she bit on something hard and yelled, "ow!" I quietly took it to the manger who asked to keep it to show his cooks. I sure HOPE it was shell from clams, but I'm not so sure.
The soup in a breadbowl sure was hearty! Service was quick, portions were above decent for the price, and there are plenty of tables nearby and in the Bakery tour area! Only complaint was that they don't give you a lid for your drink unless you ask. Otherwise, great place for lunch!
What could go wrong with bread bowls and substance inside them? Especially with Boudin bakery sourdough. Ordered the two bread bowls that they had and the Asian tofu salad. The bowls were the mac and cheese and the seasonal cajun pan roast soup. The mac and cheese went well with the sourdough. The Cajun soup had shrimp and rice. Tasted almost like a gumbo and the bread soaked it up well. The Asian tofu salad has a nice taste. It had slaw, broccoli and edamame. The only thing was the tofu. Not that it was bad but it had way too much. It was almost like would you like salad with your tofu. We would eat here again.
Clam chowder in sourdough was good, ate it cold at my hotel but the seasoning was sour on perfect for both. Their mobile app said it was closed but the service was fast.
I got the clam chowder in a bowl. This was more like clam flavored chowder. I only found a few small pieces of potato and fewer pieces of clam. It was mostly cream base. The bread bowl was good in the inside I couldn't eat the crust. It was kind of like leather, very tough. The cast member who served it was friendly though.
If you want your food in a big sour dough bread bowl this is the place. You can get soup or a salad in a bread bowl. There is usually a line but if you use the Disney app to mobile order you will cut ahead of all those folks waiting to order. There's a special mobile order station where you pick up your food too.
1st visit to Aunt Cass Cafe We got the California Roll Sandwich = Shrimp Crab Salad, Wasabi Mayo and Yakisoba Sauce in a Milk Bread Bun, topped with Masago and served with Garlic Chips. We LOVED it. I have no complaints. It was probably fake crab but the real shrimp made up for it. Masago added a nice brininess. Special shout out to the Cafe crew on October 10, 2024. My daughter came back later, needing some help. The cafe was closed but the crew opened the door and helped her pack up our birria tacos to go from Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill.
San Fransokyo square is such a crowded place at lunch time. Woof. Gotta swoop up a table pretty much before it's even free. Hate that. But that's not what this review is about. The TURKEY PESTO SANDWICH from Aunt Cass Cafe was soooo good. Best bite of the whole trip by FAR. I'm going to be thinking about it for a long time haha. The mac and cheese and clam chowder were also delicious. Highly recommend mobile ordering and pick up if you can time it right. The standby line was super long.
First, fair warning, this area of the park gets PACKED! Whether it's because the San Fransokyo (Baymax) remodel was just completed or because there are several dining options. There is only outside seating.... unless you know the hidden inside area which only at the most has 7 tables. We found it by accident. (Happy hunting). I actually don't remember anything about the interior design of the restaurant as it was a bit overwhelming. The castmembers register system wasn't the most organized. We mobile ordered on the Disneyland app, which is easy to do. Once our time window came, we hit IM HERE, and we were called in 5 minutes to pick up. The line was extremely long and unorganized. They called to many orders to pick up at once, and it was a mess. The food was phenomenal! I got the Turkey Pesto Club (13.29), which came with chips. The flavor was mouth watering. It was the perfect amount of everything; meat, veggie, bread. My partner got the San Fransokyo Clam Chowder Bread Bowl (12.49). He was the most excited for this out of the entire trip, I think. He wouldn't stop talking about it before, and he hasn't stopped talking about it since. I also got a cocktail to try. The Peach Soju Citrus (16.99). It was light, tasty, and refreshing. If there was alcohol in it has it claims, I didn't taste it or feel it. For dessert, I got the Japanese-Style Fluffy Cheesecake (6.99). I've seen videos of how they make it when they went viral but never have tried it. It's definitely different. Light, airy, and floury. Like, you could kinda feel and taste raw flour powder. There wasn't much flavor to it all. My partner tried it (he hates cheesecake with a passion) and said he could have eaten it. Would go back for the food even though the service experience was lacking.
One word: disappointed!!!! They changed their clam chowder!!! What used to be a decent clam chowder has been ruined with an attempt at Asian fusion. They put miso in their chowder, giving it an odd Asian sweetness that has no business in a clam chowder. Easily the worst clam chowder I have ever eaten. Go back, Disneyland. New doesn't always mean improved. Service was great and friendly.
Very long line for a sourdough bowl with only the bread being the redeeming factor. The clam chowder became a thick mush more akin to wet concrete than a nice soup. We scraped out the "soup" and munched on the outer crust which is quite nice. Also it is expensive as hell. The free bread at the bakery tour was nice though.
This used to be our favorite place to go because of the sourdough bread but lately it's far too busy with not enough options to waste time. My kids like the Mac n cheese but it's just as easy to get that item in a bread bowl over at Disneyland Refreshment Corner without the crazy wait. No indoor seating except inside the bread tour but there are very few tables. Outdoor seating is crazy as well because it's so crowded in that area as it's the main area for quick-service food. Lines are always long so mobile order for a faster experience. The food pick up seems chaotic and disorganized so be prepared for a wait. That being said they still sell the Boudin sourdough so that is a must!
We had the clam chowder in a bread bowl and the chicken, apple & walnut salad. We were surprised the salad was served in a bread bowl. The chowder and salad were both good but we were disappointed that both bread bowls were hollowed out only about halfway down so there was more bread than salad or soup. Otherwise, everything else was fine. There is plenty of seating in the area and you can mobile order.
Japanese-style fluffy cheese cake 4.5. Very moist, better than expected. Peach soju cocktail -very refreshing, fruity, sweet. 5 Only 3 stars total because the service was unbelievably slow (slow action behind the counter). They were very nice. Just so unmotivated to serve any faster even during rush hour.
Probe la sopa de pavo con verduras servida en pan. Le falta un complemento. El sabor es muy bueno. La porción de sopa es realmente pequeña, para llenar tienes que comer mucho pan. Precio aceptable.
We always get a Clam Chowder bread bowl at night every single trip to Disneyland. Clam Chowder has been modified since Aunt Cass took over and has tons of fresh green onions on top and in the dish. It overpowered the whole soup and we kept burping green onions all night. Nothing said the clam chowder was modified. Highly disappointed.
The wine costs $13. This is to be expected for Disney but the volume was unacceptable. It was about 1 sip. What the heck! Talked to the employee and said that was the amount. Later talked to the manager who did not believe it was that small and thought I had some. Luckily I had the photo from when we bought it. She was polite but did not give a refund due to park policy on no alcohol refunds. She gave lemonade and took the wine. Rest of the food was ok; nothing spectacular. The wine ruined the meal.
