La Grenette Aosta Reviews
Me and husband shared a massive Italian steak which was the best I've tasted. We couldn't eat it all so had a doggy bag for next day when it was equally good. The sides and my pasta first course were all delicious. Staff courteous. We had some lovely Aostan wine. Not the cheapest but well worth it. Will definitely go back if in the area.
Great restaurant with very good food and vine. Kind staff and pleasant atmosphere.
Excellent service and delicious dishes. The portions are small, but the taste is unparalleled. Highly recommended.
This was our second visit to this restaurant and just like the first time an excellent experience. We started with the vitello tonnato and gnocchi fritto, the latter accompanied by an outstanding selection of cured meats from Aosta – a real highlight. For the main, we shared a T-bone steak that was cooked to perfection: juicy, flavorful, and beautifully charred on the outside. It came with grilled vegetables and potatoes, all well-seasoned and served piping hot. We paired the meal with a bottle of Planeta wine from Sicily – an excellent choice that complemented the dishes beautifully. The young staff provided warm and friendly service throughout, adding to the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Unfortunately, there was no room left for dessert – a testament to how generous and satisfying the earlier courses were. While it’s not a cheap meal, the quality of the ingredients, the thoughtful preparation, and the great service made it absolutely worth it. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates great food.
The cheese dishes were wonderful. Very strong cheese aroma. Specialize in meat dishes. Very good service and price is slightly high but delicious food and good ambiance. Paid parking is nearby. Has a wide selection of wine and meat cut. Opens until late in the afternoon. We had our lunch at 3pm. Very happy to have found this place open at 3pm while others closed at 2pm. Payment by card was accepted.
I made a quick pit stop in this meat-specialized eatery a Thursday night in March 2025 on my way back to Switzerland. They offer a variety of high-end steaks with the limitation you have to eat at least 500 g or share less with your accompanying person(s), all depending on the size of the piece of meat. Being alone, my only choice was their filet of beef in a Gorgonzola sauce, esthetically not tempting, as you can see from my photo, but perfectly executed and accompanied by oven fried potatoes. A local red by the glass and of excellent quality accompanied my meal. They have lots of really good Italian wine choices by the bottle. Service provided by the young staff is excellent and rapid. Recommended!
Awesome Italian dining experience in Aosta town at Porta Praetoria. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious and prices were not aimed at the moon. We had the Asparagus Risotto and the Salmon Salad topped off with a delicious Tiramisu at the end. The local beer was also quite good. The place is literally next door to the Roman doors. I would assume reservations are a must if visiting over the weekend.
We took cheese and ham plate as a starter, gnocchi and pasta for a main course and we were absolutely amazed by the taste and quality of the food. You can really say it is local, with very well selected flavors and nicely exposed. Service was also very helpful and open for a conversation. Strongly recommend!
We walked in here when most places are closed and we assumed it was a tourist trap and we were wrong. The food was actually very good and we were treated well during the entire visit. We were seated as soon as we walked in and served our order almost without waiting. Staff are very friendly and it looks like they serve high quality ingredients. I would definitely recommend eating here.
Great food - we had the t bone steak, but small vegetable portion. We were grateful that the waitress spoke English, however found the service a bit abrupt. Prices were also high - the cover charge when you’ve already spent a large amount on meat seemed unnecessary.
a bit pricey, one service staff in our table is quite friendly but others are t friendly. Taste of the meat doesn’t meet the explanation Better to reserve if you want to eat here. We order meat special with the fat because the staff who explain it say the fat will be crispy and delicious. The real meat doesn’t taste as explained. After eats this food, my husband throws up at night :( Just be careful when you choose the meat.
Food was nothing special, but service was not good, rather unfriendly and its very loud. no table seems to be a good table. better to avoid
