Art Bar & Cafe Aptos Reviews
I went for a private party but this wasn't my first time at this establishment. I love the laud back feel to the place. The owner was very friendly and accommodating each time I went. The drinks and food are good also. Nice outdoor spot that you can bring your entire family too with some art flare.
Huge, huge shoutout to these guys. We were a large group (15 people) on a Saturday night- after we ran out of the allotted 90 mins for our dinner reservation at a well known bar nearby, we called a bunch of places in the area to take the conversation to and avoid breaking up the group... these were the only people who didn’t give us attitude and just invited us over offering to make it work. We got a few tables outside in their large, semi-covered patio and wrapped up the night there. Unpretentious, straightforward bar. Their wedge fries were perfect- they truly deserve to be better known as a nightcap spot. Thank you so much!
Truly can’t say enough about how kind and generous the owners were. Local bar with world class designer clothes and art for sale too. Absolute must visit spot if you’re a resident of the Earth!
Jimmy and his kids are the cutest! I highly recommend going for a first date during the day or using this space as a remote work from home situation as long as you SUPPORT the business properly lmao not like one $5 coffee for every 2 hours. They're deserve better.
Delicious unique flavors. This is art in the form of food. Definitely recommend. Excellent service and empanadas. Get the king size if you're hungry!
One of my favorite place in New York. Drinks, food, vibes, and the owners are the nicest ever. Go have a look, with your books or friends - you will have a great time!
good place to grab a beer with close friends. great atmosphere, interesting drink selection, great outdoor space for when the weather is nice!
Great cocktails and beer menu and the food's delicious. Lots of outdoor seating, love the music selection. Overall, great vibes.
Wonderful service, delicious, fresh empanadas and AMAZING DRINKS. The mint lemonade and sangria flight were some of the best we’ve had. The red sangria is hands down extraordinary. The sage infused iced coffee is house made and delicious!
Delicious latte and empanadas. Chill atmosphere with great, shaded outdoor space!
I really love this spot, especially in the summertime. I don’t know what they do to make the iced coffee so frothy, but it’s YUM! Every time I come here, it’s chill and quiet. It’s the perfect place to be social, and actually hear people! There are plenty of alcohol free options, and a really good happy hour. The outdoor patio has plenty of shade, and there’s plenty of seating. Vintage, upcycled and refurbished tables and chairs in perfect condition. And is SPACIOUS! (So clutch in NY!) come to chill for yourself, or meet people here.
This is a great cafe and bar to hang out in and grab a coffee or a beer! I love to come here during the day to work, there’s chill ambience and great wifi. Also they have great espresso drinks and iced coffee. For the people complaining about food, I think they just missed the mark on what this place is — it’s a vibey cafe and bar, not a full service restaurant. Just enjoy the music and lighting, catch up with a friend, or bring your laptop.
Great ambiance & the most attentive and thoughtful service! The drinks and food are top tier!!! Highly recommend to anyone seeking an experience that feels like home! ❤️
The vintage feel of the decor and the unique flavors of the drinks were a pleasant surprise! (I ordered the Mint Lemonade and White Chocolate Martini.)
Wow! I’m mad at myself for not coming here sooner! The customer service was phenomenal I really enjoyed their “Sorrel Spritzer” and their Empanadas!!
Highlight of our Holidays! Treated like royalty; felt like family. My son remembered the Cafe from years gone by and wanted to treat us to something special. No idea we had arrived, I was drawn in by the exquisitely designed/fashioned one-of-kind clothes in the Gureje Shop window. Behind the shop was the spacious art/dining gallery. We sampled empanadas along with Snapper - - and since it was Happy Hour, & the Holidays, we started with a mind-blowing Mezcal Mule, and super tasty Bloody Mary, and were treated to shots of spiced rum to finish things (us) off. Truthfully though, it was meeting Brianna & Jimmy that made the experience so rich. Like their food, drink, and art & clothing lines, they are the real deal! "There's a lot to unpack here!" Looking forward to a return visit!
Really cool place to check out. Too bad I could not have a drink here due to rain and covid made a bad combination. I’ll be back.
Great lowkey bar with great drinks and food. Outdoor seating so you can smoke cigars or cigarettes if that's your thing

The Art Cafe and Bar is a sanctuary and oasis to me, what a delightful experience, to be quite honest it’s the only place I go to in Brooklyn. The owner and his wife, between the art gallery, the ambiance, the garden, the delicious food and wonderful drinks, it’s just amazing. I stumbled upon this spot when I was selling beer and liquor for a distributor, since then, I am there once, twice, sometimes three times a week on my own time. Everything about this place is a vibe. I’ve taken a few dates there and the women love it and end up bringing their girlfriends for a girls night out. This is a staple in the neighborhood. Side note, the owner is also a clothing designer with a studio in connected to the bar and restaurant, the clothes are one a kind.
I love this place it is truly a gem!! Great hospitality, amazing food, and excellent drinks!! Family friendly and super inviting. I will be a regular customer moving forward!! They even have cool events with games and inclusive activities.
A truly special coffee spot. The coffee is exceptional, consistently rich, well-crafted, and memorable. But what really sets this place apart is the heart behind it. Brianne and Jimi are genuinely wonderful people, and you can feel their care and warmth in every detail. There’s an easy, honest connection here that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a familiar face. The vibe is beautiful, relaxed, and real. Incredible coffee, meaningful human energy, and a couple who make the experience feel personal and sincere ❤️💜
I came to this place after the orchestra event at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph. I was looking for an empanada and a beer, and I ran into Ashton, a really friendly and kind guy from South Africa who was working there at the time. The place is super cozy and beautiful, and from what I understand, they often host art events. The empanada was delicious!! I’ll definitely stop by again sometime. Thank you! Love this place.
Delicious drinks. My friends really enjoyed their cocktails. I don't drink, so I got fresh squeezed juice and it was amazing. Service was good and I loved the feel of the place.
I didn’t get the chance to come say goodbye before my move, thank you for tour welcoming hospitality and great space! Wishing you all the best in the year to come
This might be the best place to hang in Brooklyn. It's got an incredible vibe with both indoor and outdoor space, solid food, and great drinks. The turmeric ginger lemonade blew my mind! They also have great live events and really cool art. It's absolutely a must-visit if you find yourself in Prospect Heights!

Their drinks be ONPOINT Like O.P. However, as long as they take preparing their dishes ... eh, The Cook can be better! The vibes and the Dee-Jay and the paintings on the wall are all amazing pieces of Art, to say the least.
Ambiance here is fantastic: active but not crowded, and staff has been very gracious. Would highly recommend for neighborhood folks as a place to sit outside, drink, and hang out when the weather’s nice.
I liked that place a lot. It has charming art feeling, positive vibe and really good sangria! We tryed a set of 3 and in my opinion the Rose was the winner.
Super cute spot and great for the outdoor space to just sit and have a drink. Its a cool date spot as well and really chill. It took us a long time to get served, they do have a waitstaff but we finally went inside to order our drinks after about half an hour. The patio is pretty large with about 7-8 tables and they have a large table in the back for bigger groups. It's not loud (don't think popping music) but like a relaxed patio experience. I tried the Ginger lemon basil drink which was perfect for the day and my friend got the watermelon drink which was a little over-lemoned for my taste, but he liked it.
Killer sweet plantains (platanos maduros) with spices and delicious spicy sauce at @artcafebrooklyn I wasn't thrilled about the empanada (I was expecting more after seeing all the craze about them) maybe if I see it as a pastel or something else but inside it was more like a stuffed pie with potatoes, chicken, cheese (but didn't notice the cheese). I want to try more of the Jamaican dishes where I think the best flavors will be. They have a beautiful gorgeous patio where I was able to enjoy a live band afro/latin/jazz music and spent a wonderful evening. It's a great spot for friends/dates/hangout.
Chill place really nice out door area. Staff was friendly and welcoming 8$ shot and beer happy hour. They have coffee too
Really cute spot. The one woman team who managed the bar and ran food orders was stellar! Went here for a Sofar Sounds show and would love to come back!

Price for a tiny bit of food is crazy expensive, pretty large party with 0 table service, shouldn't have tables with a menu if there's no wait staff. Overall wasn't impressed
Came for takeout....2empanadas (Mac and cheese and chocolate banana coconut) small enough to fit in the palm of my 4 year old daughter's hand and a "fruit punch" came out to $15 and change..I work at a restaurant that serves great QUALITY food at descent prices..this type of stuff doesn't fly with me.. tipped 20% bc service was okay and sub par food and prices is a management issue..so about $18+ wasted . walked down the block and my entire meal was finished before I even crossed the street. Left feeling hungry and disappointed in myself that I didn't demand a refund when I saw how small they were...smh
This shouldn't be called anybody empanada. I got a fish and plantain empanada, hands down the worst thing I've eaten since I was a kid an had white castle..which was way better. 🤢🤮 Only giving it 2 stars cause the drink was good to wash that nasty burnt taste out my mouth

We went out for dinner and drinks here last night. This place has the potential to be great but it just wasn't. All the food was completely inedible. The chicken was dry, old and chewy, the goat was decent but tough and mostly just huge bones w very little meat. The plantains and potatoes were pretty good, the kale salad tasted like plastic. The drinks weren't great either...and had to ask the bar tender to adjust it so I could drink it. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The vibe of the place is so chill and inviting. I'd go back just for the atmosphere but they need a new chef. We spent over $100 and still had to get burritos just around the corner after bc we were very hungry from not being able to eat what was served to us.

Beautiful spot. I had really bad service when I was there and really bad tasting food. Not authentic Mexican at all and really cheap ingredients. Cocktails were ok.
I don’t understand this place. I think the owners are a little confused and think this is a club but it’s not. Definitely not somewhere you want to go unless you want to end up deaf. The music is way too loud. Like aggressively so - for no reason! Not sure why they feel a need to blast house music after 10 pm on a Tuesday night. And if you ask them to lower it, you just get screamed at by staff. I feel so bad for the neighborhood - looks pretty residential with kids and can’t imagine parents are too happy about tiesto blasting at 2am... Service was slow, drinks were OK, food was not great, and atmosphere was not it.
Sat here to kill some time. Ordered overpriced potato wedges and coffee. The potatoes took 40 minutes to come out. Half of them managed to be both burnt and soggy, completely inedible. The kicker is that they actually hid the inedible ones under the other ones in the tray, I guess so I wouldn’t immediately complain when they were put in front of me.
Nasty owner refused to lower volume of music at 9pm when we were the only ones at the place (2 people). Not surprised we were the only ones there. Food was not amazing. They fry everything mostly and the same guy that cooks it, serves it. Both the server and owner were high and it was obvious. Will not come back.
If 0 stars was available, this place of business would get it. Can't believe how rude this gentleman is. I walked in and asked how much a bottle of seltzer was. He said it was $3 dollars. I just asked for some ice water and somebody else gave a small cup with barely any ice. I walked outside and my phone rang. I stopped for a moment to take the call and this man came outside to yell at me. There is an obvious place to sit where I momentarily stopped to take this call from my health care provider and this man yelled, "GET OUT OF HERE - THIS IS A PLACE OF BUSINESS". How can this heartless man yell at me to get out when I am here with two young children. DISGUSTING 0 STARS!
It’s a cute spot but I spent $60 on two mimosas and they charge $10 to add a shot to your drink . Don’t make any changes to your drink cause it might cost you $40 extra somehow
The owner is hostile - BEWARE. A few days ago, I had a horrifying experience with the owner Jimi and because of that I will NEVER go back. I arrived ready to drop off a deposit for a community event we’d been planning for many weeks. I still had some final questions about the sound capabilities that I had been told to direct to him. I was surprised when Jimi was unwilling to answer my questions despite the fact that the bar was open and completely empty except for me. When I raised this point, he quickly escalated the situation by interrupting me and responding with real rage: “YOUR PARTY IS CANCELLED! YOUR BUSINESS IS NO LONGER WELCOME HERE - GET OUT!” As you can imagine I was shocked and shaken. Given the inoffensive nature of my question, I can only assume some prejudice to my age, gender or race was behind his actions (or some sort of emotional volatility). I would caution all to be wary of this spot and the people who run it.
The gentleman behind the counter seemed like a wonderfully kind soul but I can not emphasize enough how god awful the food is. I ordered the mini empanadas (jerk shrimp and chicken cheddar). I was served two samosas the size/shape of a normal meatball. There was no distinguishable protein in either one and I’m not sure there was anything w jerk seasoning. Somehow ended up paying $24.
Wonderful place and friendly staff, but the food is nearly inedible and shamefully priced. They charge $30 for the suya chicken, which was literally just burnt bones (less than a couple ounces of meat on them) and a mountain of chopped onions. It also took nearly an hour from ordering to being served. I really wanted to like this place as it has a very relaxing atmosphere, but the food was extremely disappointing and overpriced.
The service isn’t rude but this place I’m shocked it’s even still open and DOH hasn’t failed them yet. Food is horrible, my friends and I had got sick immediately after leaving mind you we took mini bites to try the stuff and it was horrible. The mimosa tastes expired and flat. Food is absolutely horrible
