Quite possibly the best chocolate chip cookie & espresso in all of Humboldt County. They really upped their espresso game recently and it shows! Consistently solid shots. Weekends are super crowded because everything they make is delicious so obviously they’re gonna be busy, plan accordingly. The online order ahead is a huge plus. The reality is Cafe Brio is a staple in Arcata and we are totally lucky to have access to such a dope business who prioritizes local food and great service!

Still thinking about the extra delicious herb & cheese omelette I had at Cafe Brio! Not only was it cooked to perfection.. but the eggs themselves were so flavorful. In fact, everything at Brio is flavorful .. and FRESH! The sourdough toast was amazing, too. Trying to figure out how many more times we can go to Brio before we have to return home. Highly recommend!

Cute café in a nice downtown area! House coffee is smooth. Great selection of items! The hardest thing was deciding between a galette and tart at this visit 😄

It's delicious here, trust me! The tomato soup is one of the most original and delicious I've had in California. The croissants are fresh and crisp, the cappuccino is great! 👍

Stopped to have breakfast before the Saturday farmers market and it was absolutely delicious. Add a side salad to your meal, you won’t be disappointed.

Café Brio is a hidden gem when it comes to baked goods. The pastries are always fresh and delicious, with a wide to choose from. Whether you're in the mood for a fl croissant or a decadent slice of cake, Café Brio has you covered. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a treat. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to make recommendations or answer any questions you may have. I have visited Café Brio multiple times and have never been disappointed. If you have a tooth or just appreciate good quality baked goods, I highly recommend giving Café Brio a try. You won't be disappointed!

We're loving it, we found this place through divine intervention, and entirely grateful. It's kid friendly, close to everything in arcata, the staff is great and also the company hanging out here. We got hot chocolate, quiche, salad, and baked goods for under $30 tax and tip in.

SUCH a delicious cafe. Outstanding pastries - I cannot recommend the chocolate croissant heated up more highly. Also the lattes are lovely, including their chai which is a local blend.

Very nice cafe with a French accent. Staff were friendly and the food was tasty. Can get very noisy. Probably nicer when you can eat outside.

Fantastic food, lovely indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of it. We heard about this from a doctor in a hospital in Oregon. We are from Washington. Absolutely lived up to his rave reviews. We travel a lot and this is one of the top restaurants we have found. Makes me want to move here🥰 too bad I can’t handle CA taxes.

After my 1st visit here, I can honestly say that I look forward to coming back! That being said, the atmosphere and staff are accommodating and wonderful. Good for a meal alone or sharing this experience with others. I could go on and on about the food I had, but I'd rather just say that it was amazing and I highly recommend trying ANYTHING here. The food and beverage came out quickly yet no corners were cut in making my order. Thank you for such a great start to my day, this was truly a wonderful experience.

Good food (some healthy & delicious). Some items are pricey (fresh squeezed OJ cup is more than a walnut loaf of bread).

Quite disappointing. Most of the pastries were over baked or flavorless and the coffee was just okay. The tofu dish was really good but so pricey. I think I’ll come back again for a baked good or too (don’t ask them to heat it up, it’ll be burnt) but probably not for breakfast again.

My husband and I visited Cafe Brio at the end of August! Our Airbnb host actually recommended it as a place to get coffee. I don’t think that I would personally call Cafe Brio a coffee shop. I definitely consider it more as a restaurant! My husband got a mocha and he said it was okay. I got a latte with a seasonal, rose syrup. It had too much syrup for my personal preference. I thought that it was over-powering the taste of the espresso! I had also ordered quiche to-go. I think that if we would have dined it I may have had a better experience. I thought the location was great and that it had great seating options - inside and out! The staff were nice but I wouldn’t say they were friendly and welcoming. Overall, I would still give this cafe a 5 stars. If we decide to go back we may dine in and have more of a brunch! I just remembered my husband got a sort of double chocolate cookie and it was amazing!! I would definitely give their baked goods a try!

There's a local cafe near the main square that's quite popular among the locals. The food they serve is simple, fresh, and delicious. It's worth noting that they don't offer table service, so customers are expected to clean up their tables after they finish their meals.

Awesome ambience. Clearly popular given it was packed. I good poking food options, though I just stopped and had a good house coffee. And, it’s right on the town square.

The coffee was a bit on the pricey side and the taste was fairly unremarkable, but the location really stands out. It’s situated in a very walkable area, making it a convenient stop while exploring the town. There was a bit of a line when we arrived, which says a lot about how popular this spot is with locals and visitors. I also loved their outdoor seating—it’s a great place to sit, relax, and people-watch. Overall, a nice coffee stop mainly for the location and atmosphere.

Overall it’s an alright place for breakfast. On my most recent experience, I wasn’t a fan of the capuchino as it had a burnt taste. We also got two pastries and asked for them heated up and it took almost 20 minutes just for them to heat the pastries and bring them to us. Once we finally got them, I felt my almond croissant was a bit burnt on the outside, but overall it tasted good. The atmosphere is alright as it’s on the plaza, but I feel there are quite a few other places in Arcata that provide a better cafe experience.

people in town recommended this place so I went with very high expectations. the mimosas (with prosecco) and pastries (pain à chocolat) get 💯 but the breakfast not so much. my tofu scramble and hash potatoes were totally dull (no salt, no spices), also no toast to go with this 15$ dish, it felt a bit too uncared for. the service was excellent. the atmosphere nice only a little dirty but it was super busy.

Had an upsetting experience today with Smoked salmon waffles. The amount of salmon in a dish was almost non-existent, it was supposedly blended into the cheese, but I couldn't say I tasted it at all. So please, don't embarrass yourself with this, you otherwise make good food. Call this dish "a waffle with a thought of a salmon", or "a cream cheese waffle with molecular salmon". Jokes aside, the price of inclusion of some salmon slices into a 17$ dish would be 0.5-1$ if you buy it from the store, and half as much if you buy in bulk, trying to save up on that is such a disrespect.

I'd recommend ordering your food separately over ordering together. They know how to cook well but more oftent han not they wait and let different dishes get cold. I had the potatoes and eggs and it was cold but I didn't have enough free time to have the dish remade before I had to make an appointment.

HORRIBLE! I just left after paying $65 without including a generous tip. I was served a salad with wilted and rotten pieces of lettuce, non-buttered soggy bread and a squash soup that was literally like baby food. It was so thick it stuck to my spoon. when I returned the soup I was told that everybody else likes it. offered no alternative no refund so incredibly rude. Horrible customer service I come from an area with very high-end French restaurants don’t waste your money on this one. if you want to go here, get a coffee and a pastry don’t waste your money on the hot food. Not to mention The serving sizes are ridiculously small and laughable for the amount of money they charge. The quiche was hard and tasted like salt. I literally walked out laughing with my friend at how unbelievable this experience was. this is literally the only time I’ve ever written a review around a restaurant so hopefully I’m saving somebody’s money and from having a horrible experience, so many other great places to eat in Arcata, don’t waste your time or money on this one i’d also like to add that not only do you spend a fortune for small portions but they ask you to bussed your own table hilarious
