This place is amazing - my husband has celiac and he ordered a panini. It was made with the most amazing gluten free bread we have ever had. It was a baguette, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, absolutely delicious! I had the mulligatawny, which was also divine. We will be back for certain, worth the drive from CT. Editing my original review - we just stopped there again and it is still fantastic. We had the mushroom toast, the vegetable panini again (that bread!) and tried the brownie and chocolate chip cookie. All gluten free, vegan and delicious!

So, so good! Lots of healthy options, including some great salads. I saw honey listed on one packaged item, so if you are vegan and you do not consider honey vegan, consider double checking that your order does not contain honey.

Very friendly team with fast service. Pictured are the Dandan noodles- they are underneath the toppings, and quite tasty! I also like the fact that even though I got take out, I felt like I had a nice restaurant experience (check out the black napkins - love the font and the design!)

Delicious, Whole, 100% awesome-for-you food. With so few vegan options throughout the HRValley, it would be easy to give ANY semi-decent restaurant five stars… …But the high praise for Root2Rise is WELL DESERVED. This is a world-class, gluten free, vegan, organic, local eatery serving some of the best cuisine my partner and I have ever tried any where. We have been here three times in two days and can’t wait to come back. This is a family owned and operated, yet incredibly polished, restaurant worthy of your time and attention. Your tastebuds will thank you!

Great food and I love that everything is vegan and gluten-free. We’ve been stopping in anytime we’re in the area and have never been disappointed. The staff are always friendly and the food is always fresh.

First time trying the restaurant. The Mac and cheese with buffalo tofu was very yummy. Little spicy and nice little crunch with the bread crumbs. Our kale salad was yummy with small bit size pieces of kale. We will be back.

Every time I’m in the area, I have to stop here. I’m not vegan or gluten free, but the food is just good. It tastes good and it feeds my sole! I tend to go for the soups which are hearty and flavorful, but everything I’ve tried here has been spot on.

I do not know a better place for delicious yet healthy food. Being gluten free and vegan does not come at expense for the taste (especially in the Mumbai Cheese Toast and Double Chocolate Muffin)!! So delish!!!

Very tasty food. Loved the ramen. Great flavors. The smoothies are excellent as well. It's expensive, but at least the food is good -- and good for you and, most importantly, no animals were killed 🥰 Recommended!

Always the best experience of vegan and gluten free items. I get them to ship the bread every week to Florida.

Great vibe, outstanding food. I wish more vegan/gluten free establishments like this were all over the state. Hard to find both vegan AND gluten free. Highly recommend this place. Pizza crust is epic. Brownies are decadent and delightful.

I have a severe intolerance to gluten and it’s SO hard to find delicious, well made, gluten free food with the correct taste and texture. Root2Rise seriously has blown me away! Their food, their service, and the atmosphere hits the mark, EVERYTIME! Highly recommend :)

We had an incredible meal here for my partner’s birthday. Tried the tomato focaccia (def reason to return of itself), the Mumbai cheese toast, and my partner had the beet burger. Everything we tried was amazing, satisfying without feeling too heavy after, and we were amazed it was all gluten free. Prices were fair, and the service was friendly even with it being a busy moment. We took a muffin to go and can’t wait to return to try more!

We popped in for food on the way down from a weekend getaway, two vegans and one non-vegan. We got the lasagna, truffle melt, ramen, mac and cheese, brownie, and some things to go. Everything was delicious and we could tell the owner, who was working while we were there, poured so much love into this place. The food was what food should always be - nourishing, fulfilling, good for you and for the planet. While the containers/utensils all seemed compostable I do think it'd be even better if food to stay was served in less packaging or reusable plates. I also wondered why there weren't recycling bins. Overall great experience and I will be back when I'm in town. Thank you!

This restaurant was the most fantastic about going above and beyond to accommodate my allergies and dietary needs. I was going to be stopping there while visiting family from out of town, and I called ahead to discuss allergens. The chef actually got on the phone with me and went through it all and my questions about many of the menu items. She said she would look out for my order (asked me to order ahead, totally reasonable) and double check everything. She even accommodated SOME items being for me with the allergies and some for people in my party without allergies, and she got it all right! When I got there she had baked separate donuts for me because it turned out the cookies would not work. I have not had donuts in years and was so excited. They were delicious. She really went above and beyond because she could have just credited me back but instead went through extra effort. EXCELLENT customer service. To top it off, all of the food was DELICIOUS and fresh. Even the people in my party without allergies who got other things lived what they ordered. FYI, the gluten free bagels are amazing and have the same texture and taste just like bagels! I can't recommend this place highly enough and I wish I didn't live halfway across the country, because this place is amazing! I will absolutely come back when I am next in the area. #gluten free #vegan #allergies

The food here is delicious, the people who work there really care about the quality of the food, (my mom is a picky eater and she loved the samosa and the pizza) and the customer service is fantastic. Always greeted with a smile and for the most part they know you by name, which makes the welcome to the shop more pleasant. Also, try the Canadian Latte you won't regret it. :)

Overall experience at the restaurant was great. I went with some friends and we were all impressed with the service. I highly recommended the refuel b smoothie. I got the pesto pizza and it tasted great as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends!

We found this plant based restaurant on the way to the airport- flying home from Connecticut. Extremely creative dishes, my husband is not solely plant based, but he loved his Panini. This was one of the best plant-based restaurants we’ve had through multiple states of travel.

Found this place because the FDR pool was closed, and we thought let's get something to eat while we wait. We were NOT disappointed going here. The staff was helpful and friendly. I believe the owner was there as well. She was the most humble and nice person ever. The food was amazing. All the explosions of taste in your mouth you won't be missing out eating here. Since we're not from the area, we also took some things to go, and we're already planning a trip back because we've almost eaten everything.

The kale quinoa cesear salad is amazing. It has a bit of a lemon taste which I love. The Mac and cheese was definitely not typical. Kind of mushy and lacked flavor. The vegetable panini was good, we had the basil pesto and pink hummus. Both were good Bagels are good, crunch on outside and soft on the inside. Carrot muffin was moist. Avocado toast was interesting. Lots of avocado and a different flavor to it, garlic maybe?

Five stars for the chaat samosa bowl and the mulligatawny soup. Incredible. So invigorating, so fresh. Now the gluten-free bread that comes with the soup? Gross. Smells and tastes like a pile of gym clothes. But that samosa bowl and soup? Incredible and cannot wait to get it again. The beet burger is also pretty good, especially with the spicy aioli, but nothing beats the latter dishes. Trying the tofu-bean wrap next time, too. 5 stars!!!!

Ok! I LOVE this place! 🥰 Love the fact that I can eat every single thing on the menu and not feel guilty nor worry about inflammation irritating my autoimmune disease! The owner is a doll! Love her! All their staff are friendly are knowledgeable about the menu. Today for lunch, was my first time here with a friend. We ate outside and ordered the Mumbai Cheese Toast, Smashed Pea Avocado 🥑 toast, coffee and the Banana Granola. Loved every bit of it! Plan on coming back tomorrow to grab more items to try out the fridge, ie: Thai salad 🥗 and fresh juices! I was happy to learn their Larchmont location have Wine 🍷🤗👍🏽🙏🏽

I almost stopped eating in the restaurant to write this review and tell everyone how amazing the food is. I have never eaten somewhere that is dedicated gluten free and I couldn't believe all the choices. The prices might seem high but when you compare them to the quality that you're being served, it's so worth it. I had the mac and cheese, grilled cheese, garlic bread, and a chocolate chunk cookie. Everything was absolutely delicious and I wish there was a place like this in Oklahoma where I live!

We are from Princeton, NJ, and we traveled nearby to go to a concert at the Caramoor Music Festival. On our way to our destination, we found this restaurant on Happy Cow. In the end, we ended up taking most of our meals here (three!), just because of the sheer quality and diversity of the offerings. This is an amazing vegan restaurant. It is vegan, local, gluten-free. Strongly recommend the paninis. I got the roasted vegetable one with the peashoot guac, my partner got the green pesto — they each tasted like their own thing, but both were so divine they were eaten before I could take a photo. We ordered them again and again. But we also loved: The Kale-Caesar Salad, the lasagna, the grilled cheese sandwich, the fresh cut fruits. We can't wait to try more. On our third visit, we got to meet the owners. It turns out the founder, Jyoti Tewani, is this incredibly caring and thoughtful person, who had been in the kitchen for every one of our meals, and she vets every product carefully. For instance, she vets the product they sell off the shelves. She tastes every batch of juices that her staff makes. The restaurant is entirely run by family, each with their own purpose. (And the staff that isn't family is very sweet too!) We are looking forward to coming back on our next vacation in the area. Sometimes rather than going to many different restaurants, it's nice to find one good one and hit it up over and over again! This place is worth a detour on its own. Check it out!

It was already 5 stars for me just because everything is 100% gluten free. It is difficult to find any like it in the area and glad that we found this place. The ambiance is relaxing and the staff are incredibly nice and welcoming. We had the vegetable panini with chili garlic and avocado and the Spicy Thai Ramen which were both flavorful. I felt healthy biting out of my sandwich. Plus, the bread was perfectly crunchy. As for the pastries, the banana berry muffin and brownies were divine. The muffin was super moist and had a pillowy texture. The brownies were decadent. We already can’t wait to go back to try the rest of the menu. We are just super grateful to have this restaurant. Plus, there is adequate seating and a clean restroom. They sell gluten free snacks and on the go foods. Overall, I highly recommend this place.

Vegan, gluten-free whole foods! It’s a dream to have an entire menu to peruse, and know it will all be good. Plus a bakery case filled with items that are free of refined sugars (but not flavor.) I ordered a scone and Mulligatawny soup. Both were yummy. For future reference, portion sizes seemed smaller than I prefer for a meal, so I would want to order multiple things (friends got Dandan Noodles, Beet burger, and pizza - all looked delicious but not enough were I hungry and looking for a full meal. Personal preference - keeping in mind I’m a runner, so might eat more than someone who’s sedentary.) We sat outside, bringing chairs together as tables were two-tops, and loved everything. Friendly counter service, all single-use serving containers, 100% nutritious and flavorful.

I had their garlic gluten free bread, passion tea, some snack and their seasonal harvest chilli that has butternut squash. Everything was delicious! The chilli itself was amazing amd I put the gluten free cornbread into the chili and it gave it a flavor boost. Def try the vegan harvest chilli!

Had an incredible meal here today! The food tastes so fresh and is clearly made with love and intention. I highly recommend the mushroom toast (which I got based on another customers recommendation)! I love that everything is vegan and gluten free…and DELICIOUS. Don’t be fooled by the counter service, This is not your usual casual fare. I look forward to coming back and trying more of the menu! I feel the food is a good value for the cost, the staff are warm and welcoming and clearly take pride in this place.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Roots to Rise is truly a gift to our community. Founded by Chefs Jyoti Tewani and Michael Kagan, (who created the best grain free bread you will ever taste!)this restaurant has become our absolute go-to because every dish is prepared with genuine love and care. You can taste the attention to detail in every bite. I never worry about ingredients, preservatives, or sourcing—everything is thoughtfully chosen and beautifully prepared. Chef Jyoti's Ayurvedic background means the food is created with healing in mind, but don't mistake healthy for boring. These dishes are rich, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Whn I eat here I know I am giving my body the best! Beyond exceptional food, they've built a true community. They educate customers about wellness and food choices, and I've heard amazing stories—one regular shared how Chef Jyoti created a personalized meal plan that helped him lose weight and improve his heart condition. The customers have become like family, and it's clear why so many return again and again. Roots to Rise has created a space where we gather, connect, and nourish ourselves with food made with true integrity and heart. They go the extra mile in ways no other restaurant does. Simply put, you can feel the love they cook into every creation.

The food is great! But please don’t bother to get a matcha latte it will literally be milk with no sight of green tea powder. Not sure if this is to save on cost. Also the bald male co-owner will whisper amongst other staff instead of stepping up and making it right. I asked for more matcha and got the same damn thing. Go elsewhere if you’re a matcha lover.

This place is like the stereotype of how people think I eat as a vegan. Everything is organic and gluten-free, mostly sourced local. Small portions, but considering it's organic/local, prices are probably ok by Westchester standards. Bakery items were great! Highly recommend the mushroom toast. Asian items (dan dan noodles and spicy Thai ramen) were missing a lot of the flavor & aroma I'd expect from eating those dishes at an actual Sichuan or Thai spot. "Family size" noodles were not large at all. Pretty easy to find free street parking on the side streets to the east.

I recently moved to the area and I love this place. Honestly one of the best places in town and makes delicious nutritious food. It’s my favorite. I find myself going there as often as I can. I always order the iced matcha latte there with oat milk & cinnamon. Today when I placed my order ahead of time and went to pick it up, they gave me a hot latte (easy mistake no biggie) they remade it to me and handed me this. I was in a rush and had a doctors appointment so I left and kept shaking it and stirring it but no matter what it looks and tastes just like oat milk and cinnamon. There’s no matcha as you can see it’s not green. I’m upset I spent $20 today on my food and drink to not get the actual quality I wanted. Thank you so much for responding and the Pleasantville location. I still love it there and all your teas, snacks, food etc.

We went to Root2Rise after hiking nearby. • The idea behind the place is cool. • They use food from organic farms, which is nice. • They have a menu without gluten, which is good for some people. • The place looks simple inside. • We saw many people picking up food to go. • I had some questions about how they package food: We ate there, but they gave us takeout boxes. They used plastic lids and plastic forks and spoons. I am not sure why they do this for people eating in the restaurant. • The food was mixed: The lasagna was very tasty. The mushroom toast was too salty. The vegetable sandwich was too plain. We had to pay extra for sauce on the sandwich. When we mixed the toast and sandwich, it tasted great. Overall, some things were good, but some could be better.

My wife and I have eaten here multiple times this past year and the food and service has always been great, except for our last visit several weeks ago. I have always ordered the vegetable panini with basil pesto sauce, which is usually delicious. Unfortunately on our most recent visit the panini was extremely salty and spicy, so much so that I could barely eat it (but I did). In hindsight I should have brought it to their attention but didn't until after I ate it. I spoken with the manager owner who proceeded to thank me for letting her know. I don't recall getting an apology and there was no effort made to make it up to me. All she said was she would taste the sauce to determine if it was made properly, which I assumed she would do immediately. When my wife and I were leaving I asked her if she sampled the sauce. Her response was that she would after finishing her coffee. There was obviously no concern about the quality of the food they are serving and certainly no concern about her customer's discontent with the food nor did she care about me as a customer. No apology and no effort to make it up to me. She just thanked me again for letting her know. My wife and I eat out regularly, and rarely if ever get treated so poorly. Considering the prices they charge they could certainly be more customer oriented, but she certainly didn't have a clue. We will not be returning!

We recently visited a small vegan gourmet sandwich shop in Pleasantville. While we appreciate the concept and support plant-based dining, our experience this time was underwhelming. The staff came across as somewhat unapproachable, which made the atmosphere feel less inviting. We ordered one eggplant sandwich, a soup, and a drink — the total came to about $30. The pricing itself wasn’t an issue, as that’s fairly standard these days, but the food was just average and didn’t really stand out. What felt uncomfortable was the way we were looked at for not leaving a tip. Since it’s a counter-service setup with no table service, tipping is usually optional in this context, and the reaction we received seemed disproportionate. Having been there before, I was hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately, I don’t see myself returning. Pleasantville has many other wonderful spots that offer both great food and welcoming service.
