Hunan Buffet Athens Reviews
Food was great, awesome buffet has everything you would want! There was a portly jovial fellow there sitting alone at a booth sorting cards. He saw I was wearing my favorite Snorlax T-Shirt and waved me over kindly. He said he was one of the owners, and asked if I had ever played magic the gathering, and I said no but I was always interested. He proceeded to show me his collection of cards that he was sorting. Cards from Sony videogames and The Walking Dead, Spongebob and My Little Pony (he raved about those pony cards, apparently they are pretty rare). Needless to say I had a great meal and I am now about to be quite a bit poorer as I have a new TCG I have to get into! Thanks chubby asian dude, for the great food and my new hobby!
Visited Athens for a work trip and was craving some chinese buffet. Looked up what was in the area and this joint popped up. Food was great, staff friendly. They had everything you'd want and expect from a chinese buffet and it def hit the spot! Next time i'm in Athens I'll def be coming back!
The best authentic Chinese you can get in town. Staff are extremely attentive and the food is amazing. A must visit.
Great place to eat. Been going here for a long time. Very clean.
Excellent buffet. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Staff is always very polite and lunch is always wonderful. Thank you!
Been to many Chinese Buffets and surprisingly this is pretty good. Selection of food is great from chicken to beef to seafood to frog legs, yup you read it right. The soup was more on the salty side. They also have a section for stir fry where you get your own ingredients for them to cook. The restaurant has lots of seatings and is clean. First time a Chinese restaurant that doesn’t have sticky floors.
I was pleasantly surprised. My husband loves buffets more than I and I was very hesitant. We arrived on a Friday just before lunch. They have a very large well stocked buffet. They have all the usual items and they were hot and fresh. Staff was super attentive and nice to talk to. She told me how to pronounce qīng wèn. It means excuse me. The q makes the t sound. We will definitely stop again.
Been here multiple times, always served with high quality of service and food. Just realized they are under new management and found out they have new items, my favorite is a sushi roll called shaggy dog. It’s fully cooked and served with spicy mayo and eel sauce on top, really yum and tasty!
Always been a favorite place to have close to home when it comes to Chinese food. That way , I don’t have to keep driving to Tyler to my favorite childhood hotspot. The owner is professional and friendly so are the waitstaff. The food is always hot and full when I come. I have not had a bad experience, it’s always been great. Will continue to support our small local business!
Good food, fast service. Absolutely work the visit.
The food was really good for dinner. A lot of seafood is on the buffet. I really enjoyed it this time.
Food was decent but the sushi i spent almost 30 on sushi n it was horrible. I was very disappointed n wont order that again. My bill was almost 170
Good food, but usually it's not very hot. Even though we got there at opening time. Could use some remodeling inside. And service pretty quick to seat you, but lacks sometimes when needing a refill.
Avoid this place. Food was not fresh. Everything seemed to have been left out passed its prime. Even coke was not mixed properly. Overall a substandard experience
Came here last night with my family for dinner. When we arrived, parking was plentiful but the lot was so dirty- trash everywhere. That’s not necessarily their fault so we carried on. Upon entering, they asked how many and seated us. There was only one other family there. The carpet looks as if it had not been cleaned in decades but everything else was clean. While there was a lot of selection, most things only had a little bit left and looked like they had been sitting out for far too long. After tasting the food, it was confirmed that was likely the case. My egg rolls were stale and cold. Noodles were salty and chewy. Fried rice was fine. I had some kind of shrimp with sauce and that was probably the best thing I had but it was still a little crusty. Sushi was ok but there wasn’t much of a selection. For the deserts I figured no way could they mess up jello but boy was I mistaken. I don’t even know what flavor the green one was supposed to be but it was awful. The mango one was delish though. They had little cakes and those were stale. Overall the food was lacking. My son barely ate anything and he didn’t like most of what he tried. Same with myself. My daughter ate like one cookie and a few fries. Total for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids) was $62 and change. They also had a sign saying you may be charged for any food you do not eat but I sure hope not considering a lot of it was not good. I’m not sure if they did because my husband paid and I didn’t look at the receipt. I would like to visit again and see if last night was just a dud but we will see. The only great thing I can say about the restaurant right now is that the staff was super nice and attentive. They were great with the kids and we always had drinks.
There wasn't a lot of options to choose from. Majority of the food was honestly sitting out for too long and it was kinda crusty and dried out the sushi especially. The sesame chicken was honestly good though but don't believe the prices online as there are incorrect says 9.99 weekends lunch specials, then sign on the door then says 12.99 but when I get my receipt it was $17. Insane if you ask me those are Dallas prices for no reason.
RUN!!! I would like to start this off by saying I am by no means a picky eater. This place served me genuinely the WORST Asian food I've ever had. Upon walking into this not-so-fine establishment I had high hopes. I was STARVING. I got myself a variety of chicken to sample the menu. Upon sitting down and attempting to eat my food, my first bite of Jalapeno chicken was cold. I move to the honey chicken in hopes of a better result.. nope... Onwards to the orange chicken, where upon taking a bite, I get my first taste of some food that was slightly above room temperature. Lukewarm at best. I push my plate in front of me and get up to see if there is anything eatable in this establishment. Next to the cold plates sat out for serving I see a nice posted note stating that if you have any food left over on your plate they charge you extra!!! So that's how they make their money? Make the food so ineatable that you get charged extra for not eating it!! To bring this rant to an end, it was ballpark $36 for 2 people to not eat. With that said I am leaving now and will be finding somewhere that serves human food.
Food tasted old, nothing was fresh. When the lady gave me the bill, the ticket showed the gratuity percentage but she never served me. What’s going on with this world…( people asking for tips when they just sit around). Plus the lady at the front wasn’t even inviting. She was dressed like she had just woken up in pajamas and texting and playing on her phone. 🤨 The place is dark, gloomy and dingy. Not a place I can recommend.
It seemed as it had been sitting out for awhile. Everything was really dry. I got up twice for water and then had to ask a different waitress for it. Haven't been here in years but instantly remembered why.
If you like fried roaches in your fried rice eat here! There was a huge dead roach 🪳 in the fried rice when I was fixing my 1 year olds plate thank goodness I saw it and left immediately absolutely disgusting
AVOID this place at all costs! Seriously, you will get fresher, hotter food from Panda Express where employees are genuinely happy to see you walk thru the door. I tried to get food at the hibachi, but everything was sloppy, messy, and ingredients were cross contaminated. When I tried to get the cooks attention, he ignored me because he was too busy talking on the phone. I drove 45 minutes to come here. It used to be good. Now, the service is horrible. The employees were yelling back and forth across the restaurant. They started pulling serving utensils 20 minutes before closing. The floors were nasty. Tables weren’t bussed. Flys were buzzing around the sushi. Food on the buffet line was not hot. Rice was dried out and stuck to the bottom of the pans. I asked to speak to the manager and was told the manager was not there. It showed. What I saw tonight was a failure of leadership, a failure of commitment, and a failing business destined to close down. The health inspectors need to check on this place frequently to ensure food safety practices are being followed and to ensure every employee has their Safe Food Handling Certifications. This was the final time I will ever come here. Yamato and Panda Express provide better food and service.
