Hartley Atlanta Reviews
This restaurant, located inside the Kimpton The Shane Hotel in Atlanta | Midtown, is stunning. I loved the ambiance and overall vibe. Every server and hostess who helped me during my stay was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful—I couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience at a hotel. I tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and would highly recommend them all.
Very much enjoyed our dinner at Hartley. We stumbled on Hartley a few weeks prior during a walk around Midtown, and looks like word has not spread yet about this little gem. The meal was excellent overall (highly recommend the roasted chicken!), and we couldn’t get enough of the pimento cheese fritters appetizer. Dessert was excellent too, although I do wish it wasn’t pre-made/refrigerated prior to being served (nonetheless, it was great). The wait staff was very welcoming and friendly, albeit a bit unpolished for an upscale place such as this, not unexpected though for a new restaurant with seemingly first time waiters still figuring things out. Overall though, we can’t wait to come back!
The Hartley was a fantastic spot to grab lunch and socialize. The customer service was absolutely fantastic and the food is a sizable portion that was delicious. I’ll definitely be back. PS. Invesco employees get a discount if you show your badge, making this a great lunch spot
Stayed at the Kimpton Shane over the Christmas holiday and had brunch at the Hartley on Christmas Day. The staff was AMAZING. They were so kind and welcoming on a holiday. They continuously checked on us and provided great vibes. One server (didn’t get her name) was so warm and funny. They had bottomless brunch and mimosas for $33! I truly appreciate the staff for making our holiday amazing.
Wonderful for brunch and drinks! Please know this restaurant and bar is tucked away in the Kimpton Shane Hotel. It is quite lovely but the parking is a bit pricey. About $14 for 2 hours and $22 for 2.5+ hours. I was here for a brunch hosted by the Yelp Elite program. This place is great to host your next private event or dine with people. They served us an incredible spread of food. We had: oysters, shrimp, an omlette station, fruits, salad, French toast, crawfish salad sliders, grits, egg bites, overnight oats, etc. Everything was prepared/cooked to perfection and delicious. The bartenders were also working hard to serve up delicious drinks. I had the Rose Colored Glasses and it was exceptional - especially if you like gin. The patio was the star of the show after the food. They decorated it with stunning flower atriums around the tables. It was a perfect day to sit out there and marvel at the sunshine. It was such a gorgeous and relaxing environment for a Sunday afternoon. It felt like there was no better place in Atlanta to be. The staff went above and beyond to create a pleasant experience for us to enjoy. The Shane is where you need to go for your next time dining out or to catch drinks. This is one of the few places that are worth the value in Atlanta.
The food was amazing, the service was awesome, and the evening was perfect. We had the best server, Diany, and the best bartender, Nichelle. I will definitely be back!
We chose The Hartley for our anniversary dinner, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel celebrated with a thoughtful handwritten “Happy Anniversary” card and complimentary champagne to toast the evening. That kind of personal touch set the tone for a night that felt incredibly special. To start, we shared two delicious appetizers: the Crawfish & Jalapeño Croquettes and the Crispy Jambalaya Arancini—both were perfectly crisp, flavorful, and a great way to begin the meal. For entrées, I had the Alaskan Halibut, which was delicate, buttery, and beautifully prepared. My husband ordered the Rainbow Trout, which was equally impressive—fresh, flavorful, and expertly cooked. We paired our meals with two standout cocktails: the Grant Park and the Southside Sipper. Both were refreshing, well-balanced, and elevated the entire experience. A live guitarist was performing and singing throughout the evening, creating a warm, romantic atmosphere that made the night even more memorable. And the dessert? Absolutely unforgettable. The Peach Almond Cream Tart was divine—so good, I joked that I could’ve eaten seven. It was the perfect sweet ending to a flawless meal. From the food and drinks to the service and ambiance, The Hartley exceeded every expectation. It’s the kind of place that makes a special occasion feel even more meaningful. We would absolutely recommend it and can’t wait to return.
Took a friend here for her birthday and everything was phenomenal. Every. Single. Dish. And we ordered quite a few! Chef Mark Alba is putting out some delicious food. The great service and atmosphere added to the wonderful experience. We will absolutely be back.
Asked the waiter if they had hot chocolate on the menu, he said no but he ended up asking the bar to make one for me spontaneously out of ingredients they had.
We had their burger and beer special. They had good live music too.
Wonderful food, delightful service. I am going to enjoy my hotel restaurant for the next two days.
It's elegant, classy and fun! The food was great and the staff was amazing!
Best experience and surprisingly some of the best Breakfast in ATL. I wouldn't have obstacles at the hotel and I would still go and eat breakfast here. Great customer Service and great food.
I absolutely love this establishment!!! Especially breakfast curated by Travis Cintron. I must say they also have the most amazing bartender named Taylor, her hospitality is unmatched!!
Shoutout to Rori for taking care of us! Super friendly and attentive—great service 😊
I have been here at times plentiful; morning, day, and night. I've never had such a great experience until they hired a new server there named Sara. Her energy lights up the room and brings a sense of euphoria here. The food is absolutely magnificent. New chefs have been brought on board and they really know how to throw it down. Perfectly balanced meals to fulfill my satisfaction. I will definitely be a returning more often for breakfast from here on out! Thank you for your hospitality Sara and the Hartley(Morning) team!
From start to finish : superb! Cocktails were flavorful and hefty. Our meals- salmon , duck and pot roast were delectable, filling, and beautifully plated. Dessert and Irish coffee- artistic, packed with flavor , and an invitation to linger! Rory was attentive and knowledgeable. We’ll be back!!
I love this place! The restaurant is clean and classy, perfect for brunch with my husband or lunch with friends. The ricotta pancakes here are very good. And best of all, Key's service is excellent. She is very friendly and attentive! I will definitely go back again!
Off the beaten track and a little hard to find however the food that excellent; service was really good and attentive and while it is attached to a bar the music level allowed for casual dining and conversations
Food was great, excellent service, awesome drinks
I ate here first and foremost because I was a guest of the hotel and I needed an easy dinner. I was the only person in the restaurant and that gave me some apprehension, but my dinner was absolutely fantastic. Ordered the veal meatloaf which was incredibly delicious. It sat atop buttery mashed potatoes and truly perfectly cooked broccolini. A nice gravy tied it altogether. If this place was in my hometown I would be a regular for that dish alone. Zero notes.
I cannot believe I forgot to take a picture of the amazing wagyu burger that I enjoyed. It was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious! I enjoyed lunch with the group of about 15 total people and our server was absolutely fantastic! She was so nice, so helpful and just an absolute joy to be around. The atmosphere is fantastic, the place is gorgeous and the food is outstanding. Highly recommended!
Been living at the hotel and having breakfast here consecutively for 2 days and it’s honestly been really good. Can tell they put work into their dishes. We had the egg white frittata and Hartley breakfast the first morning, then avocado omelette and yogurt parfait the next day. The potatoes were SO GOOD, I don’t know how they do it but it’s crispy, seasoned, and essentially taste like delicious fries. I also thought the service by the female waitress in the mornings around 7:30am was superb. She was meticulously, thoughtful, and kind. Thank you for the great meals! I’m not sure if the bar is also under the same name but the cocktails were really good as well. Could tell the bartenders took care to make each drink, one of the best amaretto sours I’ve had.
My wife and I had the pleasure of dining at The Hartley and truly enjoyed the experience. We started with the bread basket— the yeast rolls were chef’s kiss, and while the jalapeño cornbread muffins were a bit thick (a few slightly undercooked), the flavor was still spot on. For my entrée, I ordered the Blackened Grouper with grits. The portion was generous, the fish was flavorful, and the grits were perfectly creamy. However, the real standout of the evening was my wife’s pork chop—beautifully charred and cooked to the perfect temperature. Absolutely exceptional. That said, the true highlight of our night was our amazing waitress, Diany!!!!! Her recommendations, hilarious honesty, and genuine personality completely elevated the experience. Despite the chaos of the so-called ice storm and everything going on around her, she never missed a beat—always returning with a smile and a pleasant attitude. Without her, it would’ve been a solid meal. Because of her, it became special and truly memorable.
Food was so good! From the hostess to our great waitress Diany the entire experience was fantastic! Thanks to Diany for her recommendations of the fried chicken entree(collard greens are chef’s kiss!!!) Thank you!! Cute ambiance great vibes! Definitely will be back!!
Food tasted great but steak came warm, not hot. Food took a bit long to deliver when the restaurant was empty but the restaurant looked great and had a nice, inviting atmosphere.
Nice drinks but staff was not really friendly maybe it's been a long day for her.
A time was had. We absolutely loved our waitress Tahj. We were at The Hartley brunch downstairs and there is a nice later venue upstairs. The whole restaurant was a great quiet vibe. When they get music and an actual brunch vibe it’ll be even better. Had the shrimp and grits 1️⃣0️⃣! Bottomless mimosa for $20 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The biscuit was good and crispy. If you’re used to soft biscuit this is a different vibe. The potatoes were seasoned and I absolutely loved them. My friend had the Benedict but fried hard. She loved it. I had coffee and she had an iced coffee with oat milk. A great quiet vibe with good food. A little basic variety but no complaints on taste. When they get a vibe in here it’ll be top tier!
Food was very good. Terrible service, today, 1pm, young waiter, so rude, not interested at all on serving us. Not sure how management don’t notice this behavior. Anyway, food was great so it deserves another try
I was very impressed by the atmosphere, however the food, not so much. I ordered the Tagliatelle pasta with shrimp on the side. The pasta was overcooked and lacked seasoning. The fried mushroom could have been delicious if they drained the oil properly. I think this place has great potential but needs improvement.
Save yourself some money and get breakfast somewhere else.
Staff were warm, friendly, and efficient! Beautiful calm, intimate ambience. The food however was beautifully presented but EXTREMELY bland. The meat had zero flavor, and potatoes had a very clumpy uneven texture. I decided to get desert to make up for the main course and it was equally disappointing. I was hoping for a moist sweet pound cake, but the texture was more similar to a graham cracker. I felt a lot of regret after dining here :(
Stayed at the Kimpton Shane and saw this was their attached restaurant and bar. I stopped there for dinner and drinks as well. The restaurant was never crowded or overly loud and very nice atmosphere to just vibe in. Had to switch twice when I sat down because the tables were very wobbly but was taken care of very quickly by Morgan who was very friendly and attentive the entire time. Ordered the Atlantic Red Snapper which came with black eyed peas and a chorizo clam broth. Collectively the flavors were good overall with a nice crispy skin but both the fish was a bit over cooked and the bed of beans were a bit bland but the clams were perfect. I paired it with a pour of Blanton's on the rocks that came with a very fun king cube of ice that was "Hartley" branded. I stopped by for breakfast where I got the Hartley breakfast (typical eggs, bacon, toast and fruit) which came out quick and was done well but some pieces of melon are a bit over ripe with an almost fermenting/spoiling scent but overall it was still a good meal. The "fresh" orange juice was delicious and indeed tasted squeezed and not generic OJ from a carton. This was a great experience overall that was a good atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and attentive. From a value standpoint, it is on the higher end to be expected from a hotel restaurant and would be a good stop if you are staying there or in the area but not something to go out of the way for.
Breakfast was good. Lunch was not good at all and overpriced. Atmosphere was nice & service was slow.
Ate here for a quick bite before the end of lunch. Ordered a coke and a burger. Didn’t get the coke until the burger was served. Ordered the burger well done and it was super pink inside. Fries were average along with the service. Wouldn’t go back.
We had a bit of a mixed experience at The Hartley. The ambiance was lovely, and our server, Rori, was fantastic and attentive. The fries were absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, the steak was inedible. The restaurant did make up for it by comping the steak and offering dessert, which we appreciated. Also, note that only valet parking is validated, so we ended up paying $10 for self-parking. Overall, we’re giving it three stars.
I went on Valentine’s Day expecting a romantic, well-organized experience based on the special menu and live music. Unfortunately, it fell short. Service was disappointing. Our server repeatedly spilled water in the dim lighting, got our order wrong, and was hard to get ahold of. The staff overall seemed new and unsure, which showed. The saxophone player was very loud for the small space, making conversation difficult. There was also a large party with kids nearby, which didn’t match the romantic atmosphere they were clearly trying to create. The food was okay, but nothing memorable. Overall, it just did not live up to the expectations for such a special night.
Highly overpriced for the quality of food, service, and wait times. My cocktail was good.
I really, really wanted to like this place. It came highly recommended by several people but I was sadly disappointed. My wife and I showed up on time for our reservation, then waited somewhere between five and ten minutes to be seated. We didn't get our drinks for half an hour, and even then, after part of our dinner order came out. Oh, and this was Valentine's day, so a set menu so nothing exotic. All in all, we spent nearly two hours there, probably about 1.5 of that waiting. I don't blame the waitress, she was completely overloaded. Kept hearing "the bar is backed up" despite seeing other people ordering. We didn't even order anything strange, just wine. The only thing that they managed to do in a timely manner was run our credit card. It even took 15 minutes to bring us a check. Atmosphere was ok. They had a live musician but he was so incredibly loud that my wife and I were almost shouting at each other, despite a wall being between us and him. It did finally get a little quieter though.
Came here on a work dinner with a few of my colleagues. I was optimistic at first, the ambience was very swanky, but those warm feelings quickly dissipated as we waited 45 minutes for drinks... This place charges very premium prices but their service or rather their lack* of service is absolutely deplorable. Throughout the night i noticed quite a few managers roaming around the restaurant, not quite sure what they were managing exactly... Maybe sub out one of your 4 managers for an extra server and or bartender. In short, i would not recommend. Take your hard earned money, more importantly take your time elsewhere. Park Colony Square is an earshot away.
Over priced for horrible food, breakfast I had their Southern Benedict. It was WAY to salty I don't know if they salt their ham or it comes that way but that with their old bay hollandais sauce it became.more than salty and burned the morning waitress I had Toomey 15 minutes to ask me for a drink, now mind you she came to my table once while I was sitting their because someone in my party got their before me amd ordered a drink. When she brought the drink to them she didn't ask if I wanted anything and walked away. I would give her a 0 but I came for lunch and my waitress was better but still wasn't 4 star or more worthy. For lunch I ordered their butter milk chicken with white cheddar Mac and collared greens. The chicken was overcooked cooked almost rubbery only. Mac was good as well as the cornbread. I can't help to notice they cater their menue and flavor profile towards a certain demographic and rather than a variety, since it is in a hotel with travelers from all over.
We were extremely disappointed with this restaurant, especially given that it’s located in such an otherwise fantastic and upscale hotel. We genuinely *loved* the hotel itself, and the restaurant did have a very nice ambiance with friendly, welcoming employees—but the food experience was so consistently poor that it would make us think twice about staying here again. The breakfast buffet was routinely out of basic items, to the point where it hardly felt like a buffet at all. Several dishes from their already limited menu were unavailable, which became frustrating. On top of that, we ordered a Wagyu burger and were served what seemed to be just a regular smash burger instead, without any explanation. For a restaurant in a luxury hotel, the atmosphere and staff were great, but the actual dining experience fell far below expectations. The hotel was wonderful, but the restaurant was such a letdown that we’d look for alternate dining options—or even a different hotel—on a future visit
Don’t waste your money or the opportunity to get something so much better at another restaurant. The eggs Benny was awful - it was an old bay hollandaise sauce which might be good if the whole image wasn’t a salt bomb with bad consistency on the sauce. The roasted potatoes were mushy, no crispiness anywhere. The service was odd, there’s so many people working and nobody really doing anything. We didn’t have anyone visit our table after the meal was delivered until the the plates were cleared by another person. I could go on, but just look at the other reviews.
Hartley used to have great bartenders but I was recently there and the bartender Caitie was extremely rude. I love this hotel but the food and service at hartley are horrible.
Terrible service. I had a reservation and when we arrived there was no one at the host stand and no employees to be found. This is located in the Kimpton hotel but there’s no mention of that on the website. Once I was finally seated and placed a drink order, I waited 30 minutes, when finally someone came over and said “oh if you want a drink it’s going to be a few minutes…” at that point I left.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a while. I put in a request for a reservation which was accepted. I arrived at the restaurant, waited at the valet for someone to take my car. No one came. I then went to the parking garage. Walked from the garage to the hotel lobby then told to go to the restaurant. There was no one there. I went to the bar & informed them of my reservation - I was told the restaurant was closed for a private event. Why accept my reservation ?? I was told I could sit in the lounge and get service, so I sat in the corner & waited to receive service. I waited 20 mins before someone felt compelled to come to my table with the menu & water. And another 20 waiting for the waiter to come back & take my order. They didn’t. I went back to the bar to place my order but no one was there. The bartender was inundated with things and was running around while the other waitresses weee gathered not attending to the guests in the lounge. The managers were walking around, especially one with one of the loudest clog heels I’ve ever heard in my life. They both walked by, saw me & the other guest standing waiting to be served & did nothing. The bartender finally came back and I placed my order with her and went back to my table. Waited about her 20-30 mins for my food which was served by one of the managers who seemed to have remembered what his job entailed. Why did I stay & endure this - I was starving. It had taken me hours to settle on where I wanted to eat & I thought I would have a pleasant experience. Also, I already paid for parking. Regardless of how long I stay - there was a charge. The food was okay - I was starving so anything went. I had the Half chicken. Chicken was a bit dry & hard in some areas. Tasted and felt like it was cooked previously and just warmed up not fresh. Which makes me wonder why it took so long. Farro wasn’t fully cooked. The crawfish croquet was pleasant - they came out looking a bit burnt but was okay. Honestly won’t be back for the restaurant or the hotel. Big kudos to the bartender who tried her best to tend to all guest. Management needs better training.
Pathetic at best. Really a NY Strip steak with a sauce that tastes like ketchup! Our server was nice however failed to clean off our appetizer plates the entire meal. This was an absolutely bad experience few people on a Thursday and a pathetically slow bar service. There are so many good restaurants in the area this one really misses the mark. I would have / should have spoken with a manager however despite the empty dining room he/she was invisible.
Diarrhea and overcharge: The place is part of the Kimpton Shane Hotel. I had dinner and then breakfast the following morning. Soon after breakfast I got a severe diarrhea and had to take Imodium. I virtually never get sick from food.... Dinner - The burger was overcooked and the side of carrots was fine. Breakfast- the omelet didn't taste good. Service both times was friendly but the food in the pretentious supposedly chef restaurant is a big disappointment. There are many places with much better food in midtown Atlanta. and yes they double charged me for breakfast and then fixed it.
I go to a lot of ATL restaurants. And this was by far the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had in my life. I went in with a friend on a SLOW Monday. Made a reservation. When we arrived there was a line at the hostess stand. Waiting almost 10 minutes before we were finally greeted by an employee. We told him we had a reservation and he looked at us like he had never heard the word reservation before in his life. We were finally seated. Took about 5 minutes before we were finally given menus. Waters were another 5 minutes. Water tasted stale. our server was terrible. We ordered drinks and he was walking away as we were talking. I’d like to emphasize this was a slow night. Only 4 tables in the restaurant at this time with multiple servers. I have lots of sympathy for servers because I am a server/bartender and been in the industry for the last 16 years. But he was so terrible there’s no excuses. As he walked through the restaurant he was looking in any direction but his tables. Like purposefully trying to ignore us. After being at the restaurant for almost 40 minutes we finally got our drinks. They were terrible. Completely unbalanced signature cocktails. We had to flag down a manager to get any help. When our server finally came to take our order he had a terrible confused attitude. Forgetting to ask obvious questions like the temperature for the meat. When the food arrived it was delivered by a food runner not our server. From the time we ordered food we did not see our server till we had to flag him down to get our bill. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the duck. Was given an extremely small portion. Server never came to check on us after the food was delivered. We had to get the manager again to request condiments and more water. We even finished our drinks and was never asked if we wanted another round. They were not good drinks but not asking a customer is terrible form. We were beyond ready to get out of there. It was a completely disorganized restaurant. The manager even seemed confused. When our server dropped the bill off after a good 10 minutes after picking up the bill to process the card he didn’t say have a good night or any closing remarks. Just dropped it on table without looking at us. Again this man was not busy. He had 2 maybe 3 tables by the end of our meal. I was watching him hoping validation for his terrible service would appear but it did not. I even saw other customers looking around trying to find their server or a manager. No one looked like they were having a good time. This was not a cheap place our bill was at 150 for not much. The only thing I can compliment is the food presentation. It was pretty. Flavor was lacking though. Literally just a terrible experience do not go here and waste your time.
Shockingly bad service for a Kimpton brand hotel. Our waitress disappeared for 30m and we hadn’t even completed our full order. Food is quite good, but a bit on the saltier side (we had the trout). I think if they invested in the service component and tightened the operation, it would be a major improvement.
