SM44Atl Atlanta Reviews
Recently came here for my birthday and I loved the entire experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was perfect for a romantic date night. Our service from the hostess to the waitress was on point. Regarding the food...amazing! Started with oysters that the waitress recommended and I could have honestly ate about 7 orders of them, they were so good. For the entree, I had the sea bass with the broccolini and lobster Mac & cheese as the sides. My date, ordered the strip steak. That was arguably the best sea bass I have eaten and the lobster mac and cheese was worth every cent spent for it. Highly recommended.
Our server Veronica was phenomenal! She was extremely attentive, accommodating and friendly. The cuisine and cocktails were delicious and cooked to perfection. The Wagyu meatballs is a perfect appetizer for beef lovers. Thanks Veronica for making my friend birthday feel so special.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ SM44 absolutely knocked it out of the park! The steaks were cooked to perfection — tender, flavorful, and easily some of the best I’ve had. What really made the experience stand out though was the customer service. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and made sure everything was just right from start to finish. Great food, great atmosphere, and top-tier hospitality. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to and recommending to others!
Drew was and excellent server from the start of us getting to our table. Helped with thr menu, gave expert drink advice and even found a beer fir me thstbwasnt on the menu. Food was amazing. Spoke tonthe chef and sous chef before the meal. They were very helpful and gave great recommendations like lobster Mac and cheese (the bomb), SM44 tenderloin cooked table side, and the jersey lamb chops (sauce on the side was the best option. Creme brulee was to die for also. Service was great and couldn't have had a better experience.
First time here. My wife and I arrived at 7:00. I would suggest coming here at 8:00 or 9:00 as it seems to be a late night restaurant. Food quality is really good. Service is really good. I like it that they cut your steaks for you. Our waiter could have mentioned that the 20% tip was already included in the bill but he did not. That was very disappointing. But I did see it and I gave him a 20% tip on top of the included tip any. One can hope that maybe it slipped his mind to tell me. We'll be back often!
Been twice. This is my favorite Atlanta steakhouse. It’s very busy when I go. It’s always a great playlist and great service when I arrive. I had Kyaira as my waiter and she did amazing for my father’s 60th birthday. She was attentive and helpful. The food is always amazing. The drinks are always amazing. 10/10 hands down !
Celebrated my brother's 40th Birthday here. Denver was our server. She was absolutely great. We had a misunderstanding at the bar about Happy Hour, mom wanted oysters grom happy hour but they only do happy hour at the bar. Food came out quickly , presentation was impeccable. Bro enjoyed his Prime Rib! 10/10. Thanks Denver and SM 44! We will be back to check out the Cigar Bar!
Me and seven of friends started at Happy Hour and the food and drinks were amazing! Then we went downstairs to the SpeakEasy and it was very intimate and chilling atmosphere. I had a blast celebrating my birthday here.
This was definitely a great place to eat. My food was delicious and large portion sizes. I had the NY Strip with shrimp(the only thing I didn't like was the shrimp), Gouda Mac n Cheese and Creamed Spinach. My drink was lovely as well!
This goes in the book for top 10 food placea I have ever eaten. We arrives 30 min before close and I was skeptical. But let me tell you everything was super hot and fresh as if they had juat opened. The flavors were amazing; along with the table presentation. Our server Denise was the best. Very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back!!!
The food here was really good. We all ordered the steak special and it was prepared table side. I never knew I needed steak with bread but it was amazing! The portions are a little small but the food is good. The cocktails were amazing also, we ordered the lychee martini, the expresso martini, and dirty martini's. Everything came out tasting great, with phenomenal presentation! I would certainly go back if we're ever in town again. Our server was also fantastic! I think her name was Jaylen, outstanding service, she was so kind, she checked on us without hovering and made sure we had everything we needed.
Our server Kyaira was the best, she made some recommendations on the drink and food and the Oysters, Jerk lamb chops, Mac n Cheese and black garlic broccolini was delicious. Special thanks to the Chef. We definitely will be back.
Absolutely enjoyed the experience. I love the speak easy. My daughter enjoyed celebrating her 30th birthday. Love the cotton candy head!!
Jason was my bartender and made the BEST drinks at the bar and was very helpful with providing me get customer service! I’m definitely coming back!
Steak market is definitely a perfect spot for a special occasion. I’ve visited twice and enjoyed it both times. The atmosphere and decor are stunning and it’s so beautiful in there. The service is great from the moment you valet, to the hosts, to the servers and bartenders. Everyone made sure we were taking care of. I love the drinks and food items that come with the tableside show. Our steak and sides were yummy. My highlight is definitely the Mac & cheese! They even have a new happy hour if you’re in for a quick bite. Sunset Cocktail hour is available 5-7pm at the bar. For $50 per person, it includes passed hors d’oeuvres and 3 top shelf cocktails! They also had a live DJ that started around 8pm Reservations are strongly recommended for the main dining area and the bar is first come first serve.
Best Birthday and Anniversary Spot! This is probably one of the most fancy place I ever ate! The outside is beautiful, the inside is fantastic! The service was impeccable, the steak and all their dishes was perfect! But even better the the food was the performance that they do when they bring the steaks 🥩 and the desserts 🍮! You better have a good camera to capture all the amazing stuff you will see here! The parking sucks and the price is salty 🧂! But it’s a great experience! Btw the drinks 🍹 is a must! They have the best bartenders!
The food, the FOOD, THE FOOD WAS PHENOMENAL! One of the best steaks I've had! Our server was expert and passionate about his craft. Did I mention how fantastic this steak was? Be cognizant of the price... the bill may get expensive if you get carried away. But certainly a meal you won't forget in ATL.
First time and enjoyed everything. Our server Drew was a pleasure. Nice music playing by the DJ. You can get pictures taken at your table for $20/picture in a nice glass frame separate from your food bill. Will make another visit.
SM44 is a great place with great food and vibes. Much hospitality and good drinks. I personally love the speak easy room which makes this one of my favorites to visit in the city.
Absolutely amazing experience! Mina the bartender made hands down the best drinks — perfectly crafted and full of flavor. The atmosphere was straight fire: great energy, great vibe, and the kind of place you instantly want to stay awhile. On top of that, the service was top-notch from start to finish. Everything came together for an outstanding night. Can’t wait to come back! 🍸🔥
Ok so we decided to try this place visiting from Florida and our experience was great. Our waitress name was Kyrah pronounced Kiera (sorry for the bad spelling) she was very attentive and nice to speak with. I had the ribeye which was cooked and seasoned well with brocolini and mashed potato, my cousin had the Korean chicken which was great. We even got to try the birthday cake with Cotton candy which was really nice. Would definitely go back. Thank you to our waitress for the nice experience!
SM44 was such a pleasant surprise. I stopped in yesterday evening just for a drink and enjoyed it so much that I came back today for a full meal—and I’m so glad I did. The food was absolutely amazing, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The service was once again top-notch: welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm without feeling overdone. It’s rare to have consistency across visits, but SM44 delivered both times. This restaurant has officially become another memorable stop in Atlanta, adding to what’s already been a beautiful trip. Highly recommend—whether you’re stopping by for cocktails or sitting down for a full dining experience.
Came a few days ago on VDAY with my bf and the food was amazing, it was a great experience for us. Our Server was Denver she was so nice and pretty and was very knowledgeable about the menu and the suggestions! Most definitely will be back for my birthday in August!
SM44Atl delivers an unforgettable dining experience from the very first bite. The steak was exceptionally tender—beautifully seasoned, perfectly cooked, and full of rich, savory flavor that practically melted on the palate. The macaroni and cheese was the ideal comfort dish: creamy, decadent, and baked to perfection with a blend of cheeses that made every bite irresistible. Even the broccolini impressed, cooked to a crisp-tender finish with just the right amount of seasoning. The oysters were fresh, bright, and impeccably prepared, while the wagyu meatballs were remarkably rich and buttery, each bite offering a depth of flavor that only high-quality wagyu can deliver. And the fried lobster? A show-stopper—light, crispy, and tender inside, with seasoning that elevated the natural sweetness of the lobster without overpowering it. Beyond the food, the service was top-tier. Attentive without being intrusive, the staff made the entire experience seamless and welcoming. The atmosphere tied everything together perfectly: stylish, warm, and upscale without losing its comfort. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply treating yourself, SM44Atl sets the standard for excellence. Highly recommended—this is a spot you’ll want to return to again and again.
Spectacular spot for special occasions! I visited this restaurant for a friend’s birthday, and the presentation of my meal was magnificent—the taste and tenderness matched perfectly. The classic Mac and cheese was good too. The serving size was so generous that I enjoyed it for three straight days. The seasoning was perfection. Everyone in our party of six enjoyed their meals. Valet parking is available, but I parked directly across the street in a paid lot. I’ll definitely return for the speakeasy experience. Be sure to check out this restaurant when you’re ready to splurge.
Felt welcomed from the time stepped inside. Sat at the bar and the bar tender, Jason was amazing. From his customer service to attention to detail, excellent recommendations and knowledge of the menu. His mixology skills are also top tier. Will definitely be back!
I had an absolutely delightful experience at Steak Market thanks to our wonderful waitress, Kyaira. She was incredibly sweet and kind from the moment we sat down, making us feel welcome with her warm smile and genuine attentiveness. Not only did she check in just the right amount without being intrusive, but she also recommended some fantastic options that elevated our meal. The food and the drinks were a 10/10. Kyaira’s thoughtful suggestions and caring service made our evening memorable. I highly recommend asking for her if you visit! 5 stars all around.
I just had the best dining experience here. From the service to the ambiance to the food, everything was amazing! My server Denver recommended the Asado Short Ribs & OMG! They were to die for! Compliments to the chef! And compliments to my server for the recommendation! She took great care of me the entire time & was very attentive! I will definitely be returning very soon!
Denver at Steak 44 absolutely exceeded every expectation! From the moment we were seated, she provided top-tier service that felt both professional and genuinely personal. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive she gave thoughtful recommendations that were spot on, from the steaks to the sides and even the drinks. What really stood out was her attention to detail and timing. Our table never felt rushed, yet everything flowed perfectly. She checked in at just the right moments, anticipated our needs before we had to ask, and made sure every part of the experience was seamless. Denver’s energy, confidence, and hospitality elevated the entire evening. Dining at Steak 44 was already going to be special, but Denver made it unforgettable. If you’re going, ask for her you won’t regret it!
Celebrated my boyfriend‘s birthday here. We got the smoked salmon oysters, which were to die for, the tomahawk steak which was excellent along with the lamb chops, asparagus, collard greens, and mashed potatoes. We asked for them to box our 2 desserts to go but came home to find out only one was in the bag so that was upsetting.
I was invited to an all white party and the atmosphere was great and chill. The DJ was on point, will come again and recommend a great spot to chill. I didn't order the food but it looked good. There's three floors and a nice banquet.
We made reservations for 930 we weren’t seated until 10 PM and then we were rushed to eat our food in the speak easy. We didn’t leave until after 11. I’m used to find dining being very Prompt. This experience did not give me fine dining. My 2/10 crab cake was extremely dry and overcooked. I finally received my steak an hour after being seated. The steak was amazing in 8 out of 10. My salad was a 10/10. I just wish the service was a bit more prompt. I Shouldn’t have had to wait an hour for my steak. Also let’s take the fat off the steak. My waiter kept disappearing. We could barely get any help
We visited S&M for a date night. The restaurant is beautiful and stylish. The food presentation was very nice, but this is what you are paying for and all you are paying for. The server brought out the ribeye and had a wonderful presentation; however, the steak did not have a taste. The side of mashed potatoes were bland, and I think we had asparagus as well. All just ok. You are paying for presentation
Beautiful restaurant, customer service was good and the drinks were amazing. The food was okay. My only issue was as nice of a restaurant it was they served instant mashed potatoes with my meal. I couldn’t believe it.
We went to celebrate my husbands birthday. I am a huge steak house fan and visit the top ones whenever I travel which is often. The first thing that is surprising with this restaurant is that it’s overly expensive and it’s not the five star dining experience you would expect at this price. It’s not a white linen place by far. My husband ordered an Old Fashion it was $34! Nothing is that special about an Old Fashion that it should be $34 anywhere on the planet. There’s not one entree under $100. The steak we had was good as was the fish we also had the octopus- all items were good but at the price you pay you should expect it to be good. However the side items are not good at all. The macaroni and cheese was very bland and not even served hot. We never knew our servers name, they take the entire order at once so you can’t start with drinks and appetizers. Overall I expected a lot more but for the prices you would have a far better experience at another steakhouse in town. Not worth the price. You can have two dinners for this price of this one at another place - please save the money.
12/14 we were visiting from Florida. A friend brought us here for dinner. The esthetics of this place is amazing. We went down to the speakeasy for dinner. The atmosphere was great the drinks were beautifully crafted and hit the spot. But there was a situation and my younger sister used the restroom and while flushing the toilet the pipe at the bottom snapped and toilet water got all on her pants and shoes. Note it was 26 degrees outside so she would be leaving with wet clothes. We notified our server and the manager. They fixed the issue in the restroom but no urgency to make sure she was OK. No offering for free drinks nor reduction in tab due to the issue. We spent over $650 including a tip The lack of strong customer service is an issue The gentleman at the door at the end of the night was super kind to us when leaving. The amount of money spent didn't match the type of customer we should have received. Hopefully this review will help them strengthen in that area
We celebrated my mother's birthday @ SM44 ATL on Sunday Jan 18. I had gone in person a few days before and specifically asked if the party of 12 could be seated in the speakeasy section. I was told "it's first come first served" but they would try. The night of the reservation I was told, there was no mention of us wanting to be in the speakeasy. Fine, upstairs is nice, not a big deal. From there, many items on the menu were unavailable (on a Sunday evening), the service was just OK. The experience wasn't terrible but it also wasn't great. Very mediocre, very forgettable. Not the experience we were hoping for. I had been to SM44 ATL before (party of 2) and had a much more pleasant experience. They did bring my mother a slice of cotton candy birthday cake that she seemed to enjoy. 3/5 stars.
Walking into this spot, I was immediately impressed—chic atmosphere, attentive staff, and the kind of energy that makes you want to stay awhile. I attended a private watch party hosted by a star actress celebrating her upcoming BET show’s season 6 premiere. The team went above and beyond with complimentary drinks and hors d’oeuvres that were clearly well-prepared and thoughtfully presented. The service staff? Exceptional. They moved with precision and genuine care. But here’s where it all fell apart: the TVs never worked. At a watch party. Let that sink in. As someone who manages in the hospitality industry, I watched this unfold with growing concern. The staff tried everything—you could see the frustration and embarrassment on their faces as they troubleshooted in real time. The host, who undoubtedly invested significant money into this event, looked visibly upset by the end of the night. And I don’t blame her one bit. What really got me? The owner was actually in the building. Present. But silent. No public acknowledgment, no apology over the microphone, no emergency call to tech support—nothing. In an era where 4 out of 5 restaurant transactions are mobile orders, events and private bookings are what keep people physically in your establishment. This was a moment to show leadership, to turn a disaster into a recovery story, and he simply… didn’t. His team deserved better. The host deserved better. The guests deserved better. Leadership starts at the top, and this was a masterclass in what not to do. That 3.9-star rating? Unfortunately accurate for a spot charging $84 for wagyu. Do better.
I visited for my birthday and left very disappointed. First, upon approach to the hostess stand, not one of the 3 employees standing there chatting greeted us. Second, though our waiter was friendly and smiled throughout service, he kept neglecting to take my order. I actually had to call be back to take my water order and to order food. He literally would take my companion's order, then walk away from the table. Our main course was served in 3 parts- 15 then 7 mins apart. I was expecting a festive experience- when I queried, I was told that I didn't order anything that came with fanfare....IDK after what other people said spending over $400 the experience just fell flat.
Reserved my 30th bday dinner here ahead of time and was supposed to be seated in the speakeasy. They weren’t ready in time and they seated us in the incorrect area. When confronted with the issue, the hostess gave an “oh well” about the situation and a manager never approached us to rectify the issue or even apologize for the mixup. I absolutely hated the service and unpreparedness with the exception of my waitress.
Valentines dinner the worst experience , becarefull with the staff , The server While explaining the menu, she said we could switch items with the menu we had. Later, when she brought the bill, it turned out there was an extra charge. We asked to speak to the manager, and she avoided us for about 30 minutes. When the manager finally came, she looked at us with a bad attitude. The vibe was so negative that we decided to just pay and leave. Overall, the food was average and not worth the price. I should have gone somewhere else
Let me say…. The vibe was super nice, me and my friends came for a birthday dinner and things were great at the beginning. Once the whole party came the service became very ….. bad to say the least. It took over 20 mins for 6 drinks to come from the bar and the restaurant was damn near empty. Granted I understand that it may not be that much staff but we had the same drinks. Another thing was everyone apart of our party had a problem with the chicken and they had ONE BITE of their plate and still was required to pay half. I even asked to speak to a manager because our service literally sucked and it almost felt like the manager didn’t want to come to our table. It’s honestly very distasteful to have people come in here and spend over $100 and we can’t even get 1. Decent service 2. Good food (chicken) steak was good 3. Long waits …. For a high end establishment please do better
We booked reservations for my sister birthday and we were super excited based on the wonderful reviews. However, we walked in and a brick of SEWAGE SENT roam throughout the building. Not a good look at all. Which means to tell me that their sewer lines are backing and or their grease trap has not been cleaned in sometime. I approached the manager and acknowledged the issue. This is a hazard to all customers and staff! They must do better. We did not order and I left I will not return in the future.
I really wanted to like this place, but overall it was a 2/10 experience. I ordered the Creole ribeye ($95), and it came out cold. I sent it back, and while they attempted to warm it up, it was still cold in the center. For that price point, I expected much better quality and temperature control. On top of that, the cut had an excessive amount of fat, which made it even more disappointing. The truffle fries didn’t taste like truffle at all — no aroma, no flavor. The classic mac and cheese was fine, nothing special but edible. The asada short rib had a beautiful presentation and was a very generous portion. I even took some home. Unfortunately, when I reheated it later, it had a noticeable off smell, which completely turned me off from eating it. The biggest issue, though, was the downstairs speakeasy area. The entire space had a strong odor that smelled like mold and sewage. It made the atmosphere uncomfortable and hard to enjoy. Overall, the price did not match the quality or experience. Spent a total of $550 and regretted every cent.
This is a great place to eat if you want to break up with your lover. I ordered salmon and requested it to be cooked well. When the food came, it was cold and drastically unseasoned. I lost my appetite after the first bite. The salmon had a very questionable sauce that didn’t balance well with the dish. I was immediately disgusted with the taste and disappointed with the presentation. The ambiance was similar to that of a sports bar with just enough intimacy for a good quiet conversation. The service was not great nor memorable as the waitress did not hold a smile the whole evening and did not inform us of all the pairing’s to the entree’s. Our tab was roughly $300, and to be frank we didn’t even want to box it. As someone who enjoys fine dining and is no stranger to luxury experiences, this establishment has proven to be subpar at best. Don’t you dare bring an empty stomach to this establishment and expect to be fed delicious food. You would be robbed of a fine dining experience. I wouldn’t even feed these leftovers to my dog. Straight to the bin, I say!
The service was horrible. We waited almost 45 minutes to even get our food, and the sides came before our meat, which by then it was cold. We waited 45 minutes to speak to the manager about our experiences. And when he came he showed NO concern about my complaints. Needless to say I was trying to make my daughter's birthday special with no help from this establishment. Not worth the $500 spent.
I recently visited for Valentine's Day had a reservation, having to pay $150 in advance based on advisement, but I was surprised that the $150 did not apply to our meal. The seating was cramped, to the point where I was seated right next to another couple, on both sides which didn’t provide the privacy or comfort I expected for a special occasion. We also shared a $500 entree of salmon and steak, and I was disappointed that the $150 I paid did not contribute towards that cost, which I feel should have been made clearer in advance. Additionally, about the photographer, It would’ve been much more enjoyable if these details had been shared upfront. For future guests, I suggest clearer communication about these costs, so no one’s experience is diminished by surprises."
This was my first time at the establishment. Unfortunately, I didn't have a great experience. I take partial responsibility. My partner and I were celebrating my birthday. We knew the food prices were going to be expensive. However, we were okay with it. Mistakenly we did not look at the prices on the drink menu. He and I both ordered a margarita. They did a drink presentation with dry ice and served our drinks. At that time, I noticed the server put gold flakes in our glass. I was curious to see the detailed description of the drink and price. I did not recall seeing gold flakes in the description. That is when I noticed my margarita was $400 and his was $200. After, we brought the price issue to the manager. The manager pointed out at the very bottom of the drink menu a disclaimer. I took it in and realized if an establishment has to put a disclaimer on a drink menu, this was not the first time a customer was negligent like us. I took the time to realize always look at the prices on both menus. However, I do feel like the server could of kindly mention the costs. We did not order food. Instead, we paid the $800 bill, which included gratuity. We left and went to eat and drink at good ol Ray’s on the River
OVER PRICED AND OVER RATED! My husband and I dined there last night for my birthday celebration. We approached the hostess station with two young women more focused on something they were sharing on their phones than greeting us! Our server was unengaged, he was prompt but definitely not interactive with guests. We had the Waygu meat balls as an appetizer. They were good, nothing really special or unique about them but they were good. I had the Korean Fried Butter Chicken, my husband had the Sm44 Special which is prime tenderloin cooked table side with collard greens and Mac-n-cheese. The presentation was promising, the first bite was awful. It was soooo salty my husband spit it out. I thought maybe he was exaggerating so I tasted a piece. It was tender but so salty I couldn’t keep it in my mouth. We immediately called our server. My husband asked for it to be remade but with less salt. Our server sent the manager over and initially it seemed as if we were being doubted and the line of questioning from the manager was not of the rectifying nature. While the manager was still at our table, our server came to the table and told the manager that he tasted the dish and it was in fact extremely salty. So I guess once we proved we were not lying the manager came to the table and said that the chef did not know that the butter used for the tenderloin was already pre-salted and the additional salt he added is what made the dish too salty. No real apology, no attempt to compensate. Our dish was remade. Our final bill was a little over 300.00 with the automatic 20% gratuity added. We have dined at some of the finest restaurants in our great ATL and SM44 ATL will NEVER again be one of them. We still tipped our server well outside of the gratuity.
I was really disappointed with my experience at Steak Market. • Ambiance: The vibe felt confused — more like a sports bar or hookah lounge trying to be classy. The disco ball and dimmed lights didn’t help, and the atmosphere just felt off. • Condition: Tables were chipped, and I even noticed a sticker stuck to the napkin. Not what you’d expect from a place aiming to be upscale. • Food: Bland and forgettable — definitely not worth the price. • Service: They automatically added a 20% gratuity for just two people, which felt unnecessary given the overall quality. Overall, it was not good at all. For the price and presentation, I expected a much better experience. Please don’t let the appearance of the food to mislead you.
