Nice, spacious and comfortable cafe. I got latte and breakfast bowl. the latte is as good as other hand crafted coffee shop, but the breakfast bowl was amazing good.

We stopped in here while on the way to Starbucks and are glad we came across this place instead. Great coffee, atmosphere, chill music, and a lot of great food/lunch/brunch options. Of course, since this is Austin it wouldn't be complete without a great selection of craft beer on tap. The house coffee was tasty and the service was great.

This coffee shop is a gem! The coffee is rich and flavorful, and the atmosphere is inviting. The baristas are friendly and make you feel right at home every time. Highly recommend!

One of the best cold brews I got on my trip to Austin. The barista was super friendly and took an extra moment to make sure she was putting in exactly as much oat milk as I'd asked for. Since the other half of the shop is a burger place it isn't a quiet or tranquil place for a cup, but if that's not what you're looking for then it's perfect.

I have been to this place only once and I liked the coffee although on the pricey side. But the reason I wanted to write this review was because of the friendly atmosphere I felt. Kai in particular was very nice and helpful. I liked to go back there sometimes and sit there to read my books and grab a cot

I usually get the brown sugar iced latte and it's one of my favorites on their menu! The atmosphere almost always feels welcoming. Bella took my order a couple of times, and she was so kind. Will definitely be making Barley Bean a regular rotation when working from home :)

The addition of Mission Burger has taken the experience from great to amazing! Fantastic cold brew and fantastic vegan comfort food.

Great spot to grab delicious coffee! Very impressed with my latte... and I had a vegan bagel with "cream cheese", avocado, tomato, cucumber, spinach and red onion... trust me when I say it was drool worthy!! Tried the Impossible biscuit today!! Soooo delicious!! This spot is fantastic!! Update!!! The biscuit is not vegan!!! I was just told this almost 2 years later 😳 you can make this sandwich vegan by putting it on a bun instead.

A gem in plain sight! I loved visiting the coffee shop. Golden latte was just what I needed after recovering from a cold. #1 sandwich was 10/10. SO FREAKING GOOD

I loved Barley Bean Cafe! It’s a larger space than I expected and the staff is friendly! The bagel and latte were really yummy and I’ll definitely be back!

We visited Barley Bean Cafe Coffee for the first time as we had an offer through the offline app. We ordered a smoothie and two breakfast sandwiches. Everything tasted amazing, and the owner was very nice and friendly, he even gave us a sample of their cold brew, which was very good. We will definitely be going back again.

I went there while waiting for an appointment nearby. The lavender oatmilk latte was good. Coffee menu was very standard, but it has lots of breakfast options (didn’t order so can’t review). It’s not super busy in the morning and has lots of open seats and wifi. Good place for a quick stop-by. It’s very easy to find (right next to the road on S Lamar) Parking is not too hard since it has designated parking spots next to an apartment complex.

Fantastic first trip to Barley Bean! Had seen it pop up numerous times when searching for a coffee shop, but I kept writing it off as it seemed like it was missing the small local shop charm. However, everyone working there was super helpful, welcoming, and kind to us. My partner doesn't drink coffee but loves matcha and they went out of their way to help figure which seasonal drink would pair best with a matcha. Both our drinks were above and beyond equally beautiful and delicious. We had some food too which was good but could have been more seasoned. The atmosphere was chill with people just eating/drinking, working on laptops and like us, playing board games. We saw another review that showed the owners lowered prices as a reflection of the market, and we just kept talking about how cool it was to see a company be fair and honest about their pricing. We go to a different coffee shop every weekend, but already planned to return here next weekend instead! Must try!!

...could this be the best coffeeshop in Austin? Given, I ordered hot chocolate and a crossaint, decidedly NOT coffee, but it all was absolutely delicious! Great venue, good location right on the main drag, good prices too. All around a classic coffeeshop!

This is a great neighborhood spot to hang out and work or visit with some friends. The brunch on the weekends has a special menu including the Croissant French Toast- soooo yummy you will come back just for that. Whoever does the music has a great sense of history and milestone music with classic RB to A Tribe Called Quest playing at just the right level that you can work and converse but still enjoy. It has all the coffee drinks you could want and a decent selection of craft beers and wines. Breakfast menu is proper!!

Have driven past this place a ton, finally went in today. It’s really nice inside, they have a huge assortment of food- from breakfast, salads, smoothies, paninis, wraps and soups. Unfortunately we didn’t order their specialty, Pizza. Another patron raves about the pizza, I ordered the turkey and avocado panini and it was Delicious. Coffee was fresh and tasty, the staff is awesome- super attentive, they know customers by name, looks like they really do care about service. The only bad thing is parking, super limited, this place is a good spot to check out.

Pros: Open late, lots of seating; good vegan burgers, great service Cons: hard to park/turn into from Lamar; really loud angsty white boy teen music that I wish they would turn down or change so we can converse or actually cowork there; wished they had more lower table space and plugs so you could come with friends. They have outdoor seating but no one is using that in the winter.

Small food menu but that’s okay cause this means you don’t usually wait to long for the food. Coffee so far has all been good. A fave is the pistachio cherry latte. A little more of the cherry flavor comes through but still a damn good drink. I recommend it hot so you get the full flavor. Friendly dogs are allowed.

Came here on a Tuesday evening was pretty busy. People were working on laptops. Some were tutoring, seemed to be the spot to go after college to study. They served happy hour till 7 I shared a pizza with a girl friend. The pizza was pretty much just dough and barely any sauce. Wish there was more cheese too. I would ask for these extras next time. It took about 25 min to get. So if you're not in a rush its a pretty cool hangout.

Probably the worst chicken on chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. I’m pretty sure they were microwaved Tyson chicken strips. “Buttermilk fried chicken” as it says on the menu is a joke. Waffles were good though.

I first came here more than a year ago and had a pleasant experience. I came back a month ago because I wanted an açaí bowl before a workout class. I specifically looked up Barley Bean’s website, clicked “Menu,” and saw an Açaí Berry Bowl under the “Sweet and Savory Menu.” Once I was there I was told that Mission Burger Co. now handles all the food, and the Açaí bowl was no longer available. I settled for an Açaí shake, but explained that I was originally looking for a bowl since that’s what was advertised on the website. Maybe I shouldn’t have, but I politely suggested updating the website so other people wouldn’t be confused like I was. I was briefly met with an irritated look from the cashier, I guess because this was something she had no control over. The actual açaí shake was pretty good, but I still felt kind of down about that whole interaction. Just because I was passing by today, I looked on their website and sure enough, it still has the Sweet and Savory menu that is no longer offered. I still have same feedback from one month ago - please consider changing the menu on the website, because it is quite misleading. Thank you.

The matcha was really disappointing, just tasted like oat milk with a green tint. No matcha flavor at all. Update: Not sure if the ice was the problem as it wasn’t even melted in my cup.

I wish I could give a lower rating this place has really gone downhill in the past few months. They have removed all of the seating in the lobby so you can only sit outside, they have added a bunch of coolers with drinks you can't even buy at the moment, and the layout has become so confusing!! I really think the changes that are being made are not smart, especially having construction while you are still operating. I can see that the employees are getting frustrated as well including everyone at Mission Burger. I will not be coming back.
