Buford's Austin Reviews
Great place for drinks, environment is awesome, great for dancing and special events, good djs, usually a pretty busy place, staff is great and friendly, place is kept pretty clean, nice bathrooms, will visit again.
Cant believe how nice the bar staff is, genuinely amazed on multiple occasions they were very accommodating even on busy nights . If i had to pick one place on not just 6th street but all of austin this would be my go to. Simply because it does everything well, particularly when it comes to drink selection, cleanliness and the new upgraded cinema screen is the best bar none.
I really liked the vibes here. Inside there is a club like area where you can dance to music. There’s stairs on the inside so if you want to be raised you can overlook people. There’s also a higher level for more space and a bar kind of vibe. Outside there is also a chill bar area that doesn’t have the music blasting so if you need a quieter place to chill out it’s really helpful.
What a fantastic busimess...so many people leaving negative reviews because their phone or wallet got stolen here, how is that the bar's fault? If thieves are frequenting this bar and stealing phones and wallets it because people aren't taking care of their stuff. It's not the bar's job to keep an eye on your phone or wallet, have some personal responsibility. Food and drinks are good at this place, like every bar around the world, some of the staff are great and some are weak but overall, it's a good time.
Amazing atmosphere and management are awesome, someone posted what you did to one of your former employee and you did the right thing, because it shows you have respect for others tragedy,if I’m ever in Texas I’m coming over to support your business 🫶🏽🫶🏽
This is one of the best gay bars I’ve ever been to! The music, on a Thursday, was phenomenal and so easy to dance to. The DJ killed it. Every song was a banger. It wasn’t too overcrowded. TacoWey could have been better (coming from a SoCal resident). The bartenders were so nice and drinks were a good price.
Great Experience-- Horns Up WATCH OUT FOR THE CAMERA MAN
Good fast service. Drinks are over priced. But a good bar to hang out at overall.
We’ve seen the recent one star bombing of this place, so let’s start off with something honest: this is a bar directly on West 6th that clearly focuses on the younger crowd and having a fun, dance friendly energy. Do not come here expecting the same over the top service and brown nosing treatment you’ll get over on East 6th. This is a bar meant for having fun, so if your $6 beer comes out 30 seconds later than you’re used to… get over it! Anyways, Buford’s is a classic post grad bar focused on offering a fun, semi-chaotic environment with a large open dance area and multiple floors where you can rest and grab a drink. It’s one of the larger bars on 6th so you can always look for an area to relax if things get a bit too crowded (which they will, it’s popular). The music is typically pretty good and the atmosphere is very lively making it a go to for post grads or 20 somethings. The service can be slow at times but that is typically because they are overwhelmed. If you would like to be served faster then go to one of the bars on the second floor, service speeds up a bit there. Again, this is more of a wild and loose dancing bar on weekend nights, they do slow down more in the mornings where it has more of a traditional bar feel. We would say if you’re looking for something more relaxed and reserved on a night out then walk a bit further down 6th to see other options, but if you’re looking for a place packed to the brim with energy then this is your spot.
We came here for my friends bach party after seeing it across the street the night before. We started downstairs, then checked out upstairs + the rooftop (the bartender who I didn't get a name for she was MVP). I liked the upstairs area a lot more because it was like a little lounge. I hated the downstairs dance area because it was SO crowded and very claustrophobic. So many people walking past you etc. After just reading the reviews of this place, I am SO glad none of us had anything stolen. I don't carry purses when I go out for this reason alone and it baffles me that so many wallets and phones are being stolen here. Girls be careful here!!
Last night my phone and wallet was stolen from my purse and I tried to get in contact with Buford’s through their email and phone number and haven’t heard a single thing back. The bouncers and bartenders were not helpful at all. I would be very careful and aware of your items here because when it gets crowded, it’s really easy for people to snag your important items.
Bartenders were more interested in talking with their friends serving customers, and when I did get a beer after multiple times asking for one, it was skunky, they obviously haven't cleaned their tap lines in awhile. Just sloppy altogether.
I ordered a drink and the bartender admitted to making it wrong. She then said she was missing the tool to make it. No problem. I asked her to please give me a different one or beer. She clearly forgets that she is there to serve the patrons. She refused and said “bye.” Where do you find these people?
Very Disappointing Experience – Be Cautious with Billing I visited this pub recently with four friends, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant due to some very questionable billing practices. Around 11 PM, one of my friends ordered four glasses of Glenlivet whisky, and we were charged $52. Later, I ordered 4 glasses of the same drink an hour later and the bill came to a surprising $92. When we asked the staff about this huge discrepancy, we were told that the earlier order had a “discount.” That explanation felt completely arbitrary — why would a discount be applied the first time without informing us, and then not apply later? It honestly came across as a way to quietly inflate the bill later in the night, perhaps assuming guests wouldn’t notice or question it. That’s not just unprofessional, it’s misleading and reflects poor customer ethics. This left a bad taste at the end of what should have been a fun night. I’d recommend anyone visiting this place to double-check their bill carefully and be cautious. Transparency and consistency in pricing should be a basic expectation, and sadly, this place failed on that front.
Incredibly frustrated with the treatment me and my friend received at this RACIST establishment. We’ve been all over W 6th before and have never, ever encountered an issue like this. “Bouncers” kicked us out because my friend was using her real ID, yet they claimed it wasn’t her? HUH? Doesn’t make any sense. If you have any type of melanin, do not come to this place. I’ve seen them let in underage blonde girls who come with football players, they clearly pick and choose when to be respectful and when not to. It’s even more frustrating because this was a go-to place for us. We love Tacos Wey and have even gone on random weekdays. However, because of the treatment those racist “bouncers” gave us, who also refused to give me their names, we will not be going back and will be making sure to let our friends and family know how racist and rude this establishment is. Never, ever spending my money here again!!!!!!! Y’all clearly cater to the white crowd. Me and my friend do not plan on stopping calling your establishment out until it is addressed.
Fist walking it smells like old stale beer. Kinda like when you empty a can of day old hot beer and the smells hits you. Walked up to the bar and took about 15 min for even a “hello, we’ll be right with you” while there’s 3 bartenders and about 6 people at the bar. Terrible service.
nice big bar. good vibes. giving one cause we bought bottle service with 1942 but it was not 1942. i was tryna just have a good time for our bachelor party so we ended up just drinking it. it’s just bad business when you’re putting cheap alcohol in 1942 usually when people buy bottle service, the bottles get opened at the table. it was already open when it got to our table. service was great tho, the guy guarding our table did well!
DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR!!!!!! I had a terrible experience. It was my bachelorette weekend and I got my phone and wallet stolen out of my purse. My sister-in law and my best friend also got their wallets stolen out of their purses. I truly believe there is an inside operation happening here. Looking at all the other reviews it seems this is a common experience for people going to this bar. PROTECT YOURSELF AND DO NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS BAR!
