Local Foods Austin Reviews
Very fresh bakery, coffee and entree options. Walk up counter style with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Strong statement here: maybe the best food I’ve ever ordered at the counter? Truly delicious and healthy fare, kind and prompt service, cozy and cheerful vibes, good prices.
Crunchy chicken sandwich was really good! The service was excellent. Things were bussed off of our table as we were eating, and food and drink were delivered promptly. Really nice vibe with a secluded upstairs area to chill if needed.
I started going to the Local Foods in Houston in ~2016 and always loved their food. This Austin location’s food quality matches their Houston location’s food quality, which I think speaks to their consistency and how well they run the business. I highly recommend the crispy chicken sandwich and the pozole.
Absolutely love this place! Raegan has always been the one to help me with my orders and she’s been a delight. Nikki runs a great crew of people! The whole team rocks. Also love the atmosphere, their plants are gorgeous! And the food is sooo yum
My buddy and I came here after church today. We asked Regan what she recommends and trusted her with our orders. She came to check on how we were liking everything with a fun a whitty personality multiple times. After she heavily talked up the potatoes they didn’t disappoint. They’re insane. And the banana pancake, incredible. A very cool take on pancakes. The cost to delicious ratio was perfect. For sure give her a raise btw🤘🏾
Prior to an event at the Long Center, we roamed across the river to the 2nd St District in sunny Austin for a bite. My dinner choice of Gummie Bears at the Candy store was overruled...so we hit up Local Foods! The vibe here is great with 2 levels of seating as well as outdoor and to go options. Gal that took our order was efficient, friendly and helpful. The Fall Dinner menu was exceptionally unique...I had the Gulf Seafood PoBoy with Apple/Cranberry salad and red potato salad for sides. The potato salad is now my 2nd favorite, but will never surpass my #1 fave which is my dead Mom's specialty--just dont tell her! The PoBoy was not the typical fake crab, small shrimp and an overload of mayo. This was phenomenal. The fresh dill in the potato salad took it up a notch. My other half had a waygu beef sandwich with Mexican flavors. Fantastic as well. Too and we didnt save room for the brown butter miso cookies or carrot cake. Great meal! Now on to see Nick Offerman with a fully satisfied stomach......
I had the chance to go to Local Foods at 2nd Street District. Sad to say they are only cashless. When you go inside make sure that you’re ready with your Card. I bought a quart of Chicken Posole and Austin Cowboy Cookies. They have all other good foods. I just went for these two. You should try Loc Foods at 2nd Street District when you’re Austin, Texas.
Local foods is a true gem!!! It's situated in such a fun and quaint part of town! You can fuel up on delicious and good for you food and then explore some fun shops and museums. If you're looking to spend a shorter time dining, this spot is perfect. It's counter service ordering, and the staff swiftly delivers it to your table. They offer comfortable indoor and shaded outdoor seating. Everything we tried was DELICIOUS. But, I highly recommend their signature bubby salad and hangover potatoes. Outside of that, you really can't go wrong with anything here!!
Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night while visiting Austin. It was busy, but was able to walk right up, order, and find a table. They give you a table number and deliver it when ready. Ordered the Bubby Salad and grabbed a Chocolate Fudge and Peanut Butter cookie at the counter. First floor was crowded, but there's upstairs seating towards the rear of the restaurant. Food was brought to table in about 10 minutes and looked great. Nice cut of Salmon served on top of Kale along with tomatoes, onions, croutons, sprouts and egg. Tasted like a fresh salad from a home garden. Cookie was a nice simple dessert afterwards. Good place to come for a fresh, healthy meal.
This is a wonderful spot downtown that offers free parking! We got a sandwich and some spin dip and all were an explosion of flavor I love they give the choice of 2 mini sides for the sandwiches — variety people rejoice The potato salad and kale salad were perfect compliments to the crunchy chicken sandwich I’ll definitely add this to my rotating list of easy and fun date spots downtown
Note: This was a delivery order. The food was delicious! I wasn’t too hungry, so I ordered the Kids Crunchy Chicken Sandwich, and it totally hit the spot. I can’t wait to try more items from the menu! The “crunchy” part of the chicken isn’t traditional fried chicken—it’s actually potato chips inside the sandwich, which was fun. I got it with a side of pickles. The food here is locally sourced and fresh!
Great vegan options! They were clearly labeled and delicious. My partner was a bit disappointed with the flavor of non-vegan option (the salmon).
A friend from out of town said he loved this place, so my wife and I finally got a chance to try it. I got the Gulf Seafood Poboy with Chicken Posole soup. I enjoyed it, but I feel it should be named Seafood Salad Sandwich, as it was essentially chopped shrimp and crab with mayo and other things. Great sub roll tho. When you say “Gulf” with “shrimp” and “poboy,” it gives a different idea of what you’re getting, in my opinion. So my taste buds were expecting something different. The chicken posole soup was top notch, with floating seeds that gave it a great crunchy texture. My wife enjoyed here veggie sandwich also. The service was excellent — very kind and helpful people! For atmosphere, the music was just a little loud at noon on a Monday. I’ll definitely come again, but I’ll try something else.
