Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls Austin Reviews
Quick little place with fantastic lobster rolls of every type. Get them warm or cold and as small or big as you want.
Food: It’s a lobster roll, how can it not be good. Service: Hilariously intense and informative but perfect. Keep doing the 30 second menu overview. Atmosphere: it’s a boring inside, however AC was on and music was great.
Very friendly service. Greeted and introduced to the most popular options. Went with the warm lobster roll option, clam chowder and a Maine root beer. All good with the pickle being my standout. Not as fresh and tasty as bar harbor but not bad considering we are in Texas.
Tasty and reasonably price lobster rolls in the downtown Austin area. The Classic Lobster Roll (served chilled) has a nice lightly toasted bread and the lobster meat itself was refreshing. Pickle spears was included with the meal which was nice. While, the Lobster Grilled Cheese, was a bit salty for my taste. Overall, a pleasant experience.
I was so happy when I found out that Mason's was in Austin! This place did not disappoint. Super clean with really friendly people serving up their classic lobster rolls. The portions were big, the bread was toasted just right, and the lobster was delicious! I'll definitely add this place to my lunch rotation. Great job!
Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls is a staple you should DEFINITELY try when you're in Austin. The food? Fantastic! The customer service? So great! If I had to visit one place again from this trip, it would definitely be here. We ordered a Classic Lobster Roll and a Connecticut Roll. Though we do have a favorite, we loved both of them. To my surprise, it was well worth the price. The Classic Lobster Roll is served chilled with mayo and lemon butter. It's a refreshing option, and it was definitely good. The Connecticut Roll was most definitely our favorite. It's served warm with butter. After taking the first bite, it makes you wanting more — that's how good it was. If you come here and have to try one thing, I'd definitely go with the Connecticut Roll. The customer service here was superb. We stayed a bit past closing, but the staff did not mind at all. Typically, you'd be stared down by the staff, and they'd wait for you to leave, but not the workers here. They chatted with us and gave us warming smiles. I definitely appreciated that. The location was a bit out of the way. From my knowledge, you have to park in a parking garage then walk here, but it was well worth it. I will always come back here when I visit Austin, TX. It's a staple that you definitely do not want to miss out on. The next time I visit, I'm getting the Lobster Salad Roll (trying to try out their entire menu) and the Lobster Mac and Cheese!
Real Maine Lobster, no frills, deliciously served on a roll. I had to decide between the classic (served chilled) or. the Connecticut (served warm) and went for the latter. It was absolutely fresh and delicious lobster with butter, and no other sauces or frills. It was excellent and worth the price. The lobster tasted very fresh. Friendly service. It's worth the price
Finally! There's a blacksmith in downtown Austin where I can get my armor repaired. Conveniently located right on the bottom floor of The Independent... or wait, no, it's a lobster place! I've been here a couple times, and I like it. The lobster is fresh, I got a decent portion, and the staff are great. The sandwiches are basic, but you really don't need a whole lot aside from butter for lobster. My only request would be for them to get some better drink options.
Highly recommend the Connecticut combo so you can dip your lobster roll in the lobster bisque. You won’t regret it! The location is walking distance from many hotels. The new potato salad is also really tasty.
Finally a place with amazing lobster rolls in austin! Excellent high quality and perfectly cooked lobster rolls and delicious clam chowder. The rolls are STACKED with lobster. I had this bookmarked since it opened and wish I would have starting coming here earlier
Quick, tasty and very reasonably priced. I had friendly service and a quick description of the menu and differences of each sandwich. I got my lobster fix on the cheap. I only wish I had a Mason's where I live.
I’m a Texan transplanted from Rhode Island. I’ve had lobster in all its forms in Maine, Massachusetts & Connecticut. I was really skeptical about Mason’s. Well there was no need to worry. This place is the real deal. Traditional lobster roll packed with tail & soft claw meat, about 50/50 of each. Warm buttered & toasted roll. Super fresh. Better than most I’ve had in New England. Great New England milk chowder with no skimping on clams. Very fresh. Definitely worth a try at a very reasonable price for what you get. Enjoy!

I can’t stop eating these! 3 times this week. I mean they put the WHOLE lobster tail in the roll and plus some. Insanely good. The best!!

Mason’s Lobster Rolls delivers a delicious and satisfying experience. The lobster was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned, making each bite worth it. The rolls were nicely buttered and toasted, giving that perfect balance of texture and taste. Service was solid and the food came out quickly, which is always a plus. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but that’s expected with a warm tasty lobster—and the quality makes it feel mostly justified. Overall, Mason’s is worth trying!
I went to Mason’s after eating at another lobster roll restaurant Mason is the best. It’s half the price of the other competitor and you get extra lobster so I ordered a lobster tail roll and they asked if I wanted extra lobster that I got a lobster bisque with lobster inside the the bisque. It was $36 by the time I finished it was wonderful. I highly recommend it. Mason‘s lobster rolls over the other restaurant in the area. I went to another local lobster roll restaurant. They had three locations and it was not good not enough lobster no flavor and highly over expensive.

The lobster rolls were absolutely delicious! They have a mix of traditional rolls and rolls with a local flair. Our party of four received exceptional service!
The classic lobster roll was FANTASTIC! I chose to have the lobster warmed up and it was perfection with the lemon butter and light mayo. The clam chowder was also delicious, however I wasn't a huge fan of the lobster mac and cheese, but hey, that's just personal preference. Quiet, small spot, with street or garage parking. Service was excellent. I would recommend checking it out if you're downtown!
Great lobster rolls, delicious lobster bisque, and friendly staff. Paid parking only and most seating is at the window counter. The place was clean and the service was fast. Spent $70 after tip for 2 cups of bisque and 2 lobster rolls - one with extra lobster.
I tried the Connecticut Lobster Roll, and it was fantastic! Warm lobster meat served on a buttery, toasted roll— a winning combination. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, the service was excellent, and the location was easy to find.

First visit, first lobster roll. I went intending to get the Connecticut Roll (warm), but ended up getting the Classic (cold) based on employee's statement that it has "a lot more flavor." My wife got the Connecticut Roll, and we split a bowl of the lobster bisque. Everything was very good, but it's probably not something we'll do often, given that we aren't accustomed to paying twenty bucks for a sandwich (even if it is lobster!). Don't go expecting "atmosphere." It's just a very plain little place.
My husband and I walked downtown from across the river to check this place out for a casual, early dinner and were pleasantly surprised! We knew very little about so our expectations were low. We both ate the chowder - lobster roll combo and both were D-licious! The roll was balanced (soft, buttery, well-prepared) the lobster was cooked perfectly (not too firm or chewy); fresh. We both opted for the larger lobster portion (a modest up-charge) which left us feeling completely satisfied. The chowder was hot and had the right consistency (chunks to soup ratio). I bet this place crushes it for lunch! For the evening hours, there could have been more outside seating and perhaps glasses of wine for sale, but all-in-all, a solid recommednation!

It's okay, but wasn't exceptional for me. I had the classic Roll(Warm) and the Connecticut Roll. The lobster was cooked right though. But doesn't taste fresh. Same cook with a fresh Maine lobster will be a huge hit!!! I won't be back though. But glad I tried it.
