El Flaco Cafe Austin Reviews
This is legit Mexican eatery cooked the right way. Just good meat cooked by passionate people who treat you like friends. They were very welcoming and take great pride in giving you a good experience. If you are looking for the authentic Mexican food, this is it! Note that everyone should try the barbacoa torta!
The owner and staff are super nice and friendly and I really liked the barbacoa tacos!
This food truck has some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had! I always order the green chicken enchiladas for $12.98 and they’re incredible every time. The chicken is tender, the veggies are always fresh, and the food is served hot. The inside of the truck is always spotless, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommend this place!
Oscar was so patient and nice. It was my first time and I was indecisive. I ordered the bistec a la mexicana without jalapeños (he suggested that when I said I didn’t like things very spicy) and let me tell you it was DELICIOUS!!! So so yummy.
I got a chicharron taco and asada taco and it was soo good. Great tortilla and everything was cooked just right. I really enjoyed the grilled jalapeño and onion as well. Can’t wait to try more of the menu!
Tastiest tacos in the area! Fresh ingredients, quality meat and affordable prices. We usually have chicken and beef tacos, with fresh aromatic cilantro and onion + lime and salsas on side. So good! Orders are prepared quickly, service is very friendly too. Definitely recommend the place.
Man, this place hit the spot! Very good Al Pastor tacos and an even better Chicken Enchilada Plate. It’s been a while since I’ve had good Mexican food, so I’m happy this filled my craving. I’ll definitely be back!
Absolutely delicious! I had the Tortas and it kocked my socks off, sooo freaking tasty. My mom had the tacos, which were equally fantastic. Oscar was super friendly and we got our food fast! Everything tasted super fresh! Come eat here before you get your groceries! The food truck is adjacent to HEB. They have picnic tables nearby.
Best tortas. You can build your own torta, meat or veggie! Fresh, quality ingredients, clean and good variety of traditional Mexican meals. Such a gem in north Austin! Fast, friendly service. I was looking for a place to get a healthy option in my way to pick up my children at Murchison MIddle School. Happy to find this option!
I ordered three breakfast tacos. They were suffused full. Will go try other menu items in future.
I’ve been to so many food trucks and let me tell you they are quality! The portions the service- they give little charred jalapeños with the tacos 😭😭
WOW, NACHOS WHERE DELICIOUS! FRESH, BIG PORTION, AND PRICE WAS RESONABLE, VERY MUCH WORTH IT!!!

This place has the most delicious breakfast tacos in town- and they’re big! Highly recommend, and everyone is very nice!
Very good! I wish I would’ve snapped a picture of the food before I ate it. Very nice and fast service. Everything was plated very well too. Very good Green Salsa! The Chicken Enchilada Plate was the bomb 💣 😋!
I was starting to lose faith in bfast tacos. Heard Austin is famous for them but I didn’t understand the hype after being here for a week a trying 3 places. This place blew me away! Delicious bacon egg and cheese and the potato/chrizo/ egg/cheese was very good as well. Will definitely be back!
I too was starting to lose faith in bfast tacos and tried this place after shopping at HEB. This place gets bfast tacos right. I got egg/bacon, egg/chorizo, egg/potato, & chorizo/potato and all were huge and delicious and only $2.50 each.
I’ve never done any reviews but, I love this place. Ive gone there almost every week day for the past 3 weeks and always get the al pastor tacos. They are to die for. I recently went there and I asked for my usual order; 2 pastor on corn with no onions. the nice lady at the window misheard me and thought I said 3 tacos. I was a little disappointed because i’m a little tight on money but at least i got to have the treat of eating 3 of those delicious pastor tacos. I come back after my food is ready and she greets me at the window with 4 tacos and a drink. It really made appreciate the place even more of how good their food is but much more importantly how their service exceeds expectations and goes above and beyond. If you haven’t already tried this place then you most definitely should. Antojitos El Flaco, you rock!

Service was great. Very nice couple- taco was delicious and the green sauce was 🤤 best sauce I’ve had. Can’t wait to return. Prices are reasonable to for the quality.
I had the barbacoa tacos. They were very good, just the right amount of grease but not so much that its leaking all over the place, and not to salty (so many times I've eaten super salty barbacoa tacos). It would have been 5 stars for me, but the flour tortillas were cold and not homemade. Still decent though.
The food was absolutely delicious & fresh made. Only criticism I have are prices. I paid almost 30 dollars for one drink, one sandwich & 2 orders of churros… that averages to about 7 dollars an item… but if you’re not living on a budget like me lol, I say go for it 👍 good food is always worth it.

Ordered the Cuban torta. It came with two pieces of meat that were breaded and fried — the oil tasted so stale that I ended up throwing away my food. If you do decide to order, check the prices. The prices listed are false by about $2-4 for most items. Not sure why they're not updating it, it's just written in using a marker.
