delicioso! this was the first place i ever had sushi and it was a great experience. definitely check it out for a nice dinner
the large dinning room was a bit noisy and there was a distinct fishy smell as we past the sushi bar, but otherwise everything was excellent
I have traveled the world and this is some of the best food I have ever had all three courses were unique
Fantastic food, great ambiance, terrific location!
Good sushi happy hour!
Great place, super food
Absolutely delivered with their three course meal! The atmosphere is exquisite and my guest absolutely enjoyed herself. We definitely will be coming back!
Atmosphere is calming and somewhat casual. The food is gourmet! I have had the PRIME cowboy Texas steak and the Akaushi NY Strip here. The sushi is also great. Can't think of a better place to get both a quality steak and sushi in the same place for downtown. Menu is creatively done and their featured items like dry aged steaks or pork belly are amazing.
Love this restaurant. i think this restaurant seems to be overlooked. WHen i tend to go it is never crowded but if you havent been.. you should. it is located in the Hilton Hotel and connected to the bart. It is a wonderful place to have a cocktail and then head down for dinner. They have many great appeatizers with sushi rolls and tuna tartare. Try the filet mignon with the oscar topping. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staffing, and the food. But what i really loved the most was the french press coffee at the end of the meal. Can i get betterr than that? Also, if you have too many drinks you can stay the night?
Freshest sushi and no frills streaks that are perfectly cooked to order. Best of all, go to a wine dinner where Chef Dayanandan has off-the-menu reigns and you will agree he may be one of the best Chefs in the city. Absolutely the best branzino I have ever had.
Came here for sushi late night. The service is fantastic and most of all, a very fresh sushi selection. For two of us, it was just around $30 for each person, and we had selections from sashimis to nigris and rolls.
Good food, good service.
Good steak.
My God, the tomato basil roll is out of this world good. I tried this place out during restaurant week and I'm so thankful I did.
Amazing space and service to match.
Came here during restaurant week. The scallops and steak were very good, but the dessert was a little dry. My friend's pizza sushi roll was surprisingly very good. I'd recommend sticking with the seafood and going somewhere else for dessert.
Finn and Porter is great! I enjoy the fact that they have a sushi bar and love that this swanky restaurant is in the middle of the hotel. For some reason I really like eating in hotels... Who knows? Maybe I was a prostitute in another life. Quick lady-of-the-night-tip: the lobby bar and powder room are up the stairs.
Overpriced with mediocre service.
An exquisite establishment. Fine dining for sure. But a little lacking on the flavor. The food's flavor is more important than anything else.
It's fine. It's a hotel restaurant so you get what you'd expect.
Its good, but the atmosphere is lacking.
Although Finn & Porter is extremely convenient to executive travelers, there are simply much better restaurants in Austin for the price. For example the restaurant is physically located in a large open space directly beneath the bar on the south end of the hotel. This means that you are forced to hear the loud drunken banter as it drifts from the bar above, as well as watch the carousel of smokers congregating outside the restaurant bay windows between the hotel and the convention center. The staff was extremely attentive and eager but the atmosphere and food did not rise to the same level. The food was good, but far from outstanding or noteworthy. We started with an appetizer of scallops, which were mushy at the center and lacked any meaningful flavor, not representative of the $8 per individual scallop pricing (literally 2 under-cooked scallops for $15). We followed with the pear salad which had excellent appearance but again tasted very bland. The 7 oz filet was better and had some excellent char to it, but the cut of meat itself was not anything noteworthy or exceptional. We had chosen Finn & Porter due to its location as we were staying at the Hotel, and from the reviews and pricing were under the impression it was a bit more upscale an experience (jacket, nice shirt, etc). However one of the people sitting near us wore T-shirts and someone at another table wore cargo shorts. In all, the dinner for 2 came to approximately $300, which would have been much more enjoyably spent at Ruth Chris, Flemings, Perry's, Sullivan's, or Trulucks (all within about 1 mile of Finn & Porter). If you are thinking about a nice upscale romantic night out, skip the "Hotel" experience and venture someplace else - you'll be very glad you did.
Portion size of Venison was very small, beet salad lacked flavor and was a small portion. Took longer to get dessert than it took to get the entree. Will not go back.
