Great Wall Express Austin Reviews
This was my first time ordering and man I've been missing out! The food was phenomenal and good sized portions! The chicken basil... goodness need I say less? 10 of 10 recommend! Thank you guys!
All the food was great. The fried rice was well prepared and my wife loved the Thai fried rice. Thanks
I eat here a few times a month, always fresh and hot when arrives. Try em out.
From the moment I walked in, the smell of the food had me excited. I was greeted with a warm and genuinely awesome welcome from the gentleman at the counter. His attitude alone made the experience better. I ordered takeout and the portions were huge. The food tasted great and everything was fresh and flavorful. On top of that, the service was very fast. Overall, a really awesome experience and I will definitely be back.
Been getting food from here for years! Great food! lo mein noodles are the best! My go to is Hibachi chicken.
This was our 2nd time having delivery. Not long OD a wait and food arrived hot. We stop at the restaurant off & on and great service.
Every thing is so good here and worth the 30 minute drive we take past many other establishments we’ve eaten from as well. We had enough times to recognize that this place is the best and our favorite. They never miss with taste quality and atmosphere. This place is the best of its kind in our area hands down.
I have been eating at Great Wall for 40 years, the original location was on Rutland Drive near Burnet road. Esther was the owner. Then they moved to Pflugerville off of FM 685, they use to be where Krab King is now. Someone else has taken over the business since they moved to Palm Valley road (hwy 79). The food is always fresh I never had a bad meal this is the only place I will eat Chinese food at. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. I have eaten at a lot of Chinese food in my life and I lived in Okinawa Japan for 3 years and Great Wall is the closest to what I use to eat in Japan and the flavors are there. Both my husband and I love Great Wall. Excellent food.
We have now ordered takeout a few times and eaten in the restaurant once and would recommend. The staff is always friendly and very attentive when we ate in. All of the different foods we tried so far have been hot, fresh and flavorful every time. I was also very impressed by the way they packaged our meal. One day I ordered sesame chicken and the sauce was put on the side so when I got it home my chicken was still very crispy. If you’re dining in or getting it togo Great Wall Express does a great job.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently dined at Great Wall Express and was thoroughly impressed! The highlight of my meal was definitely the lo mein—it was perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of flavor and a wonderful texture. Each bite was a delightful experience, packed with fresh vegetables and tender noodles. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly, making it a great spot for a quick meal or a relaxed dinner. I highly recommend Great Wall Express to anyone looking for delicious Chinese cuisine. You won’t be disappointed
First try…yes, I’ll be back. Crawfish fried rice is a must. It gave me Cajun style fried rice, like a southern twist to Chinese fried rice. Plus, it has sausage. That will be my go to all the time. We ordered the Singapore noodles too and that was really good. It had BBQ pork (which I haven’t tried) it was cooked just right and the flavor was on point. My favorite was the egg roll…#1 in my book. It had that crunch from when u bite it and the soft filled center packed with flavor. Just make sure you dip it in the sweet and sour sauce to complete it. Order from Great Wall if u haven’t. You won’t be disappointed, unless you order something I haven’t tried.
Let me give you some cheat codes. Great Wall Express has some of the best egg foo young. Fight me about it if you want, but the gravy is so flavorful and full of umami. Next, skip the hot mustard on the table and ask them to bring you some from the back for the real kick to make your head top sweat!
Our experience at Great Wall Express Chinese Restaurant was excellent! Although the service and ambiance were satisfactory, the standout feature was the food. We enjoyed the Szechuan Chicken and Basil Chicken, both of which were incredibly delicious. They perfectly satisfied our craving for flavorful Chinese cuisine, and we would gladly return for another enjoyable meal!
I should have read the reviews before ordering from this place. We ordered the mongolian beef, vegi egg foo young, orange chicken, hot and sour soup and fried wontons. The mongolian beef was too soft and had almost a jelly like texture. The sauce was bland and salty. If you are a fan of egg foo young, you probably know that it's supposed to be heavier than it looks. The patties should be dense and well fried. These were not. They had an almost scrambled egg texture to them and they were only lightly fried. The brown sauce was bland. The orange chicken tasted like orange juice and had no heat or flavor other than sugar. The hot and sour soup was eggs and tofu only and was extremely bland. The wontons were decent, but they left out the sweet and sour sauce. The gentleman manning the counter couldn't even muster a smile and appeared to be completely apathetic. We will never order from this place again.
Great Wall Chinese has become one of my go-to spots in Round Rock when I’m craving comforting, flavorful Chinese food. The pork egg foo young was a standout—crispy on the outside with a rich, savory gravy that hit all the right notes. The pork lo mein had a great balance of flavor and texture, with just the right amount of sauce. I also tried the sautéed broccoli in hot sauce, and it was a pleasant surprise—fresh, perfectly cooked broccoli with a kick of heat that wasn’t overpowering. The portions are generous, the staff is friendly, and service was quick.
I ordered the shrimp fried rice and let me just say, from that alone not makes me want to try anything else!!! I am a shrimp fried rice girl and I usually base my restaurant off of that, who an mess up shrimp ried rice, if you have good fried rice than I know everything else is amazing, and I end up being right! But today this wasn't it! My fried rice wasn't all the way done, there was still some raw egg in there, the shrimp not only smelled very fishy it taste like it as well, and it wasnt seasoned well, just bland in flavor. I figured a bunch of soy sauce could make it better.... but it didn't! I wish I could get a refund but it isn't uber eats fault... they didn't cook it. I'll take the loss and just never order from here again... Ever!!!
