Loved, loved, loved this place!! Food is always amazing, waitress was perfect...very sweet and checked on us just the right amount. I love that it isn't a loud place too so we can have conversation without yelling at each other!

The food and service was really great! I love the atmosphere and since we were able to get a booth it felt more private and comfortable eating here! I got the bibimbap and it was delicious... now I want to go back every week.

Brilliant! The food was excellent and delicious the service was attentive, and the overall vibe and decoration of the restaurant was inviting and authentic! Lunch happy hour prices and portions were awesome. Parking may be a bit tight, due to the location.

The restaurant is full of character. A koi pond hidden behind a false front is a great surprise for the kids. Traditional seating in the back is a nice experience. The food is excellent and really emphasizes its freshness. We've never gone home hungry. Also, don't be afraid to try something other than sushi. It's all been very good.

Really enjoyed everything! Great service. Highly recommend. The menu is pretty extensive so lots of choices.

Trying out this new place to celebrate a special day. A big koi pond greets you at the entrance. Enchanting! Btw, you can buy food for the hefty koi near the entrance( which we did). Food wise, the only complaint I had is the limited vegetarian options they had. I usually tend to choose Asian or Mexican food restaurants because they have more vegetarian options. It is a sushi restaurant first and foremost so not surprised it was mostly seafood but one can wish. Ended up getting the vegetable tempura appetizer and edamame. Very delicious and well seasoned. For main course, I ordered the vegetable yakisoba. It was a generous portion for $14 so no complaints there. I did order the spring roll, which was a vegetable sushi. It was delicious and super fresh, it had picked vegetable and cucumber. Almost a salad! It was decorated with a pretty flower, not sure if that was edible lol you'd have to try it yourself. Tried the sweet egg sushi, hard nope. Weird consistency and Twinkie flavors. Too much. Not a favorite. Got a few sapporos to drink. All in all, full and happy. Would go again for the hungry koi and that spring roll 10/10.

My group and I are regulars at Ichiban, and for good reason. The food is consistently delicious—it always hits the spot! Beyond the great food, the service is a huge standout. The owner is really cool and makes us feel welcome, and the entire staff is incredibly friendly. We've found that the wait times are minimal, and even on the busiest nights when the restaurant is packed, the staff is efficient and gets you seated quickly. This place is a gem, and we highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great meal and an even better dining experience.

The skill of the head sushi chef, Mr. Park, is unparalleled. Honing his craft for over 35 years, this is the best, least expensive, high quality sushi in the state. Everything from the uni to the toro to the signature rolls are exquisite. Fresh ground wasabi made on a request. Totally underrated, best kept secret in Austin, don't tell anybody :-) -CuisineQuest... enjoy life!)

If you like sushi (or anything sushi-adjacent 😁), this is the best place to go. Their chef's choice 10-piece entered was delicious, and was served in a fairly large boat! I highly recommend this place.

The service was awesome the Sushi was amaaaazing, the Miso was the best Ive had in town. Spent years driving by this gem now wishing I had tried it sooner, if you like some good food and vibes go here! Ichiban roll was A+++

I was highly impressed by the koi pond and authentic atmosphere. The food certainly did not disappoint either! Excellent for a special dinner or date spot. The cost for the value was incredible as well. I have nothing bad to say, and this is going on my saved lists.

Fantastic Austin Icon. The food is always so fresh. Snuggle into a traditional booth and immerse yourself in Japanese tradition or, keep your shoes on and simply take a seat at a table but don't forget to add an order of Koi food for $1 to feed the big, beautiful fish off the pretty little bridge on your way out.

Authentic and delicious sushi with a very full menu of rolls and appetizers and desserts. Large selection of drinks including many sake's and am equal amount of wine and beer. Nice and quiet ambience with sit on floor seating as well as chairs. Highly recommended!

I really liked Ichiban. It had a cute atmosphere. Upon walk in, there is a small Koi pond . I got the Shrimp Sumai and the Double Ebi Roll. I had never tried the shrimp sumai fried . I enjoyed it, but honestly prefer the steamed version better . Otherwise, the presentation was thoughtful for each dish . I also enjoyed my roll . Service was decent .

Please don’t listen to the people who say negative things about this place. It’s quite literally the best date night spot. Food is always delicious, service is amazing, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. And the fact that from time to time you get free food?! Come on. You can’t beat it. Ichiban is the best and most affordable sushi spot in Austin.

Truly enjoyed the pleasant customer service and appetizing meal. A friend and I split the Sushi Combo with 10pcs of chefs choice nigiri, dragon roll and spicy tuna roll w/ miso soup. I am looking forward to returning to try more combos and special rolls!

I love this sushi restaurant. I come here when I crave sushi because the sushi is filling and reasonably priced. The restaurant doesn't look very appealing from the outside but the food is astounding! Not to mention the presentation of the food is awesome!

Lives up to the name! The number one sushi place I have enjoyed in Austin. Everything was prepared proper, with good quality ingredients. The service was fast and efficient, and the real impressive surprise here was how much care they put in to packaging the to go order. A clear sign they care about the food they make AND your enjoyment of it, regardless if you dine in or out.

Best sushi and the beef shabu shabu was tasty. The kids menu is good and my kids loved her chicken katsu, even the Ichiban beef bulogi was good (it's beef japchae) overall, great service and enjoyed the food.

Cozy ambiance and attentive staff. We ordered sushi rolls thinking they'd be a good starter. Turns out they became our main dish. We strongly recommend the Lovey Dovey roll. It has a bold citrus flavor with a spicy aftershock. Great service and a clean, simple menu to choose from. If you're on the fence about anything, the wait staff is well versed to guide you in the right direction. We will definitely be back to sample the rest of the menu. Shout out to Soomi, she definitely knows her stuff!

Been here several time and enjoyed it. Went to lunch today, the service was so good I had to come leave a review! Pei and Hue (not positive on that spelling, sorry if it’s wrong!!) were absolutely fantastic. Hue was on top of it and Pei was so funny!

I haven’t been out to eat anywhere since the pandemic with the exception of Ichiban because they have the best sushi in Austin, in my opinion and I can’t stay away! The food is delicious and it has an authentic atmosphere all while being reasonably priced! They have a happy hour til 6 on weekdays. Also, They’re practicing social distancing measures with seating and keeping track of anyone who dines in. Definitely try them out!

Ichiban is among the best Japanese restaurants in Austin. It offers an authentic experience and a wide selection of delicious Japanese dishes and rolls. I highly recommend trying the chef's special Ahi Tower, as it stands out with its rich flavor, surpassing most rolls. Another must-have is the Eagle Five Roll, packed with fresh and delicious fish. Additionally, the deep-fried Volcano roll, with its perfect taste and crunchy cream cheese, pairs wonderfully with smoked salmon. Don't miss the chance to visit and savor these delightful offerings at Ichiban.

I was introduced to this place by a friend who swears this was one of the best happy hours in town. And she was right! Can I just first say that the service is really top notch? The waitress was so nice and helpful, we felt like we were spoiled. They have happy hour going from 4pm to 7pm everyday and the rolls on the happy hour menu were all delicious! I would recommend getting the Crunch Roll and the Salmon skill roll, they were so good... The presentation was outstanding too as you can tell by the pictures.

I have been to many sushi places around Austin, but this one was truly amazing! This place is perfect for a romantic dinner or to gather with your friends for a fun dinner. The quality of the food was awesome, the service was great too, very polite and stopped by our table multiple times to see if we needed anything else.

I LOVE this place! So do my kids and friends. Even the ones who don't eat sushi can find something they love here. Great option for fresh local and tasty cuisine. Specialty rolls, bento boxes, Soba noodles, and fired rice have all been huge hits. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience all around! They were able to book us for a booth last minute (booths are shoes off, legs in hole under table with no back support), but they also have regular tables and chairs if you prefer. Service was awesome, orders came out quickly. Wait staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Would recommend the fresh wasabi. They do not sacrifice quality, and still have decent portion sizes. Great drink selection available. Place was very clean and well decorated. And you can purchase fish food to feed the koi out front.

I definitely recommend this place. I really loved the detail the put into our food. It came in a boat! Absolutely beautiful. The food itself was too delicious. There was a little bit of wait for it. When you see the beauty of it though you can understand why. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful too. Definitely a place I’ll go back to and recommend to others as well.

I’m kicking myself for not coming here sooner. I’d heard high praise about Ichiban awhile back and I can say I’ll be back so soon! Happy hour is a great time to try the specials and I have to say I am in love with the grilled baby octopus!!! They have a great selection of beer and Sake and the sushi is phenomenal!!! Also, I was pleasantly surprised by the traditional atmosphere! Ergo bring everyone you know to this spot if you’re looking for a great atmosphere with divine service and out of the world sushi!

Great Japanese & Korean place to go when you have many people in your party with diverse preferences. They have good sushi as well as more traditional cooked dishes. The only suggestion I have for the chef is to give better selection for sashimi specials.

They sushi bar is where it is at. The fish had a nice fresh taste. Head Sushi Chef is stationed near door and this is clearly his domain. The place is clean and the decor perfect. Not to large making it perfect for a Zen experience.

I visit Austin every couple of months and during my trip this time, I was looking for a good sushi bar, open late, that was not an Omakase type (I just wanted to pick what I wanted) and this restaurant popped up. I was drawn to it because as a child I would go to a sushi bar in Houston by the same name. Well let me tell you, as a person who frequents Uchi in Dallas and Houston, this place is on par with the quality of those places. It was late at night when I dropped in last Saturday, and I ordered individual sushi pieces of different types. I don’t have a picture of my first order because it looked so fresh and so tasty that I just basically inhaled the food. I ordered a bit more just because I hadn’t had sushi this good in a while. Props to the chefs and the people responsible for the quality of the food. I will be coming here every time I’m in town, and even plan on bringing my mother next time because she absolutely must try this place. Thank you Ichiban for the wonderful experience. This place really is #1!

ichiban is an awesome restaurant for groups, dates, or a just a spot to get good food with friends. the food is incredible and plated so attractively; service here was so quick and welcoming with my party too! a great atmosphere and one of my new favorite Japanese spots ♡ They have regular tables in the middle of the restaurant, and dropped down tables around the perimeter, as well as a koi fish pond and seating area at the entrance.

My new favorite place! The staff was professional, knowledgeable and kind. The food and presentation was impeccable. Highly recommend the lychee cold sake and the beef teriyaki! High quality as well as affordably priced.

K
Kat V

The sauce in the chicken teriyaki is like NOTHING else, it’s almost smokey!! It’s not syrupy at all! Their sushi rice is the best out of all sushi restaurants I frequent, and so is the white rice. Red Devil is one of our top 3 rolls here, the others being the Texan roll & O’Crab roll. Ask for the salmon skins 🤙🏼 $36.80 before tip for the entire meal in the picture.

This restaurant has an ok sushi grade. We had the Spider Roll, the Grilled Baby Octopus, and the Ahi Tower and Hot Sake. We sat in the traditional Japnese tables in the back. One thing to mention is this place is busy so once you get your main course, you will not get service, apparently, even after asking the server to come back because we just order appetizers and 2 rolls. It was also hard to get the check as they were too busy trying to sit new customers and ignoring people who were still eating. Other than that, the food was pretty good.

Z
Zulma Tedesco

It was busy, but we were taken care of nicely. I forgot to take pictures of the food though I have a few surrounding areas and a pic of the menu. The 12 pc Chefs pick and the roll that had mango on it was wonderful. And the edible flowers 🌺 were delicious 😋

What can I say about ichiban that hasn't been said over the years. One of Austin's longest running traditional stylists that she houses. Come in and have the traditional seating with your shoes off or you can do a normal table and have your lunch. Their house salad uses A carrot Ginger sauce which is delicious. The Miso soup also compliments it very well. We always usually eat the same four rolls and we'll go over what they are The oh crab This role is so good. It's a deep fried crab roll that has all the fun stuff that ichiban offers. The spider roll. A soft shell crab spider roll is one of my favorites as it utilizes the crab and all the awesomeness of a traditional roll to bring such exquisite flavor. The Philadelphia roll Always a favorite. Always a staple. Cheese with avocado and everything mixed together A great palate cleanser for the foods that you're eating. And then the fried ice cream is delicious. This huge matcha ice cream is so big. We couldn't even need it all. Recommend coming to ichiban

We came here for our friend's birthday and it was delicious! The ambiance was very interesting, we sat at the large booths where you sit underneath the table (if that makes any sense). It was very different than any other restaurants, but we quite enjoyed it! They have a large menu of sushi, and it all tasted fantastic. It took a little while to place our orders and get the food -probably because they were busy, but it was worth the wait. We'll be back soon!!

I really love this place. I went again recently for my friend's birthday celebration and the experience was everything that I had hoped for. It was a Saturday night and it was not too crowded. The food was amazing and we ordered a variety of rolls, appetizers and drinks. The tables are one of my favorite things about this place as it gave us a feeling of dining out but also having our own space. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was captivating and we got lost in the koi pond. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to have an elegant outing or celebration. I plan on going back soon.

This is my favorite sushi spot in Austin. It's unpretentious and delicious. They have great hospitality and both classic and creative rolls that are always fresh and beautifully made (my favorite is the Spicy Susan). As someone who has been eating here for years, I'm conflicted about how busy it has become 😆 but happy for such a deserving place to succeed. Definitely check it out (and try one of their traditional japanese tables at least once!)

This is honestly such a hole in the wall restaurant. They have delicious and fresh sushi and some of the best fried rice I’ve ever had. The servers are friendly and the restaurant is gorgeous, it even has some traditional Japanese seating areas. The koi pond is gorgeous and is filled with very friendly fish. They sell koi food for $1 so you can feed the fish! I can’t wait to come back and try this unique restaurant.

We forgot how much we loved the charm, food, authenticity, and class of this iconic Austin restaurant. We sat at the sushi bar and had the sushi chef pick a shashimi tray and roll to present us with. We loved what he surprised us with. Our server David was top notch too! We went during happy hour just after 4 and it was a quaint afternoon date. The koi fish pond was swooning with fish and a lovely addition to this eastside gem. The calamari was splendid, and it was cut in strips, more similar in size to how they serve it in Australia. We highly recommend it!

They got a beautiful entrance with lovely koi fish you can buy pellets inside to feed them. I ordered a lot because I was hungry the seaweed salad was great, so was the takoyaki, the sushi roll was much bigger than I expected. The server was great and really friendly.

I love this place. From the Koi fish who greet you as you walk over the bridge to get inside to the decor inside the restaurant- it’s superb! The inside looks like you’re outside in a way, like in a marketplace. There’s faux roof tops that line the walls around the restaurant. It’s super cool. In the back, they have tables with a sunken floor. You take off your shoes and put them on a shoe rack to enter this area. I think it’s so neat. Anyways, this is the place to go to get really good sushi in Austin. I’m talking really nice, thick cuts of quality fish! I love getting their sushi boats where you let the chef pick your fish. It’s always a hit. The staff here are so nice and do a fantastic job of making sure you have everything you need to enjoy your meal. Lastly, on my way out, I love buying the fish food for a buck and feeding the Koi fish. They’re so cute!

We went to Ichiban today. We’ve been to Japan and were looking for these vibes. When we arrived we were asked if we had a preference between standard tables or booths and we decided to seat in the booths. What we didn’t know is that the booths are like your traditional Japanese table, you need to take your shoes off and you can seat on a small pillow. So authentic! It’s also a good thing these booths have some room under the table so you can comfortably seat if you don’t want the full Japanese experience. The service was very good and fast, answering all questions and being very helpful. The food, surprisingly inexpensive, was excellent. We had the miso soup, gyozas, shumai, fried rice and different nigiri. The miso soup was delicious and the nigiri came with a generous amount of fish. My only thing is that the nigiri came with no wasabi in the actual nigiri, I like when the chef includes a bit of wasabi under the fish, like in Japan. Overall, an amazing experience for a very reasonable price. We’ll be back!

We absolutely LOVED this restaurant. I had it saved in my wishlist for a while and I wish I came here earlier. I loved the vibe and how authentic the interior design is. It reminded me of our trip to Japan. I had a wave of pleasant memories from sitting in the booth. The food was FANTASTIC. I had sushi and sashimi, the fish pieces were generous and the fish was literally melting in my mouth. My 4 year old absolutely loved her food. We got her an adult order. And she ate all the miso soup, all the rice and the Tonkatsu. The prices were surprisingly reasonable and the service was great. They gave us fish food and the kids enjoyed feeding koi fish outside. Overall a great experience, great atmosphere and great food. We will be back for sure. I'm already craving it lol

Took my daughter, wife and met a friend for dinner. We ordered several types of rolls, the Takoyaki, and Garlic Edamame. We shared everything. All were very good! We had separate entrees: pork bulgogi, tempura udon, Nabeyaki udon, and a BiBimBap. All was delicious as well. For her birthday, she got a dish of the Tempura ice cream. Can't wait for another visit!

My husband and I have visited quite a few places where they have sushi - I can safely say that this is one of the best places! The atmosphere is very nice and cozy, the service is excellent, the staff is very caring, the waiters are attentive. The sushi was very tasty. Large portions of rolls with excellent filling, they melted in your mouth. You can immediately feel that the products are very high quality and cooked correctly. It was wonderful! I recommend ICHIBAN to everyone! They also have beautiful fish in the pond at the entrance, which you can feed with food for a dollar (you can buy food in the restaurant at the counter at the entrance).

E

Nice neighborhood sushi bar, decently priced. Their traditional nigiri is pretty good, the ambiance is cozy and the staff is super friendly

d

The nigiri was surprisingly good. My only issue was the Toro being so expensive for a bad cut. I had 2 large pieces of fat strung through the cut, and it ruined the Toro for me. The service was regular, and the atmosphere looks like a normal sushi restaurant you can find anywhere in the States. Oh also the fresh Wasabi was not paste like so that threw me off too.

B

A bit of slow service but great atmosphere and great food! I really enjoyed it here and look forward to bringing friends and family here in the future

Came for lunch and ordered the U & I roll, assorted nigiri, and crispy soft shell crab. Food: everything was absolutely fresh. The roll had the perfect balance of sweet, citrus, and savory. The crab was seasoned superbly and had a crisp crunch with every bite. Service: TBH it wasn’t very busy but we were greeted nicely, drinks and food came out quickly. Our waitress spent some time letting us know about the chef’s techniques as it relates to slicing toro and blue fin. Atmosphere: it’s quaint and cozy. Way better than a hole in the wall but way less extra than a spot to be seen dining at.

I took my husband here to celebrate his 50th birthday. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is really nice. We sat at the sunken tables so it was definitely something different and something we enjoyed. They also serve an appetizer that was on the house and that was excellent that we had to order another one for ourselves. A few things that u have to mention are as follows: 1. Service could be better. There wasn't much of a crowd so it was a little dissapointing. However, the owner (I think) did come by twice checking on us but not much from the server 2. There was some roaches but that might be because the sunken tables were closed up and dark and maybe cold that easily attracts (just guessing) Will I go back? Yes I would. Those two things were not a deal breaker to us.

A
Aanchal Gupta

It is nice place, service was really good, food was good too, i asked for shrimp dumplings and chicken fried rice dumplings was really good. They have booths sitting area that is really nice, not too costly but they a weird kind of smell.

L

Honestly we came here just because we wanted shabu shabu even though this place isn’t specifically know for that. Regardless we were pleasantly surprised that it was pretty good! For our appetizer we had the Play Boy roll which we demolished in a matter of minutes. Fish was fresh and the roll was very well done. I’m definitely going to come back to try more of the rolls. Then came the shabu shabu. Really good amount of vegetables, tofu and glass noddles for two. The shabu shabu itself was excellent. My only few gripes is that they should have an option for miso flavored broth. To us the traditional miso is too bland. However the waitress was nice enough to hook us up with some miso paste to add to the soup and OMG what a world of difference. There should be options for miso and spicy miso flavored broths for their shabu and charge a few extra dollars. Also the beef was good but I think it’s sliced a little too thin. I think they could be a little more generous as they charge $30 for this. Other than that we really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back here for our fix of shabu shabu and we have to try the other items on the menu too!

Wonderful, non-ostentatious little Korean restaurant with a lovely foot bridge in the front that takes you over a pool filled with large, colorful koi. They offer a variety of seating: sushi bar, tables, booths and traditional low tables where you can sit on cushions, shoeless. Oh, and did I mention the food? It's wonderful as well. And my kids, both teens, find plenty to like about the atmosphere and food too. The only thing that keeps this establishment from garnering more stars from me is the state of their bathrooms. Seriously, shouldn't the cleanliness of your bathrooms reflect as much about your restaurant as the cleanliness of your kitchen? Hmmm...

Overall 3.5. google doesn't let me choose half points. We ate the gyoza and sushi rolls only. Good food. Gyoza was crispy on the outside and the meat was well seasoned on the inside. The playboy and Mexican orgasm rolls were my favorite. We are couple of others too. The ginger was really really good. I will come back for the sushi but probably will do to go. The vibe was ok. Had a weird smell to the place and was humid.

One of our good sushi spots. Fish is fresh. Cooked rolls are delicious and appetizers are yummy. Taste is generally on a sweeter side. But overall is very good. We come here often to satisfy our sushi craving

Ambiance: The service is not great. The staff isn’t very attentive unless you’re part of a large party. However, the restaurant itself is nice inside and pretty spacious, which makes it feel comfortable. Very good food presentation though! Tempura Udon: I liked that the tempura came on the side so it didn’t get soggy in the broth. However, only the shrimp tempura was good, the other two pieces weren’t very crisp. The udon itself was okay and the broth was decent. Salmon Avocado Roll: This roll wasn’t my favorite because the rice had a slight off flavor to it. It was actually kinda overpowering that I couldn't taste much of the inside flavor. Fatty Salmon Nigiri: This was pretty good. The salmon tasted fresh and buttery, with a pretty good texture.

We like sushi but we thought that Ichaban was not S good as other sushi restaurants we’ve eaten at. Portions were generous, too much for lunch. The sushi was good but not excellent.

I had the combination fried rice. The chicken was a little dry. The beef was marinated well, and the shrimp was good. They don't offer sweet and sour sauce so I received Sriracha and spicy mayo instead. The waitress who served us was not on point this evening. She did not provide her name and barely came by to check on us.

I mean chief’s special doesn’t feel special at all. It is just a originate combination. It even has pair… I mean… I was really expecting a large variety of sushi that’s in season/fresh/recommended. The slicing is too thick, making it hard to bite. And the salmon slice is torn off. Plus that the rice is shaped too loosely and the size of the rice is too small. It is probably the worst sushi tray I have in years. It is not that I am not thankful for you giving me even more valuable product… as fish is the expansive item here and the rice is the cheap one. However when the balance is off, it just tastes horrible. It is almost like I am eating chunk of raw fish, get it? It was disappointing on that end. Plus that fired tofu isn’t the soft tofu that I was expecting and it was not explicitly said. So I won’t recommend this one to a friend.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Fish was as fresh as you can get in Texas. Not bad, but a little over priced for the below average quality. Better go to Bluefin or RA Sushi for better quality for those high prices instead.

The presentation for the sushi was good. However the overall taste was bland.

Service and food wasn’t bad but didn’t stand out. The fried rice wasn’t good. Very basic. Extra charge for Spicy mayo. Their full roll sushi is really half a roll. We got the Shrimp tempura and California Roll A. Not the best.

We arrived here when it was not busy at about 3. I saw one other table occupied. We sat in a booth. We ordered about 5 rolls, 2 bottles of Saki and some dessert. First the atmosphere was kinda dank and dark as if they did not want you to see the dirt. The air felt musty like they did not want to run the air but there was not enough adequate airflow in general. We waited quite a while to be visited by a waitress given the low volume of people. The rolls took about 30 minutes to come out, guess there was probably only one chef. This was not a big deal since we were enjoying the Saki. When the sushi arrived it was good it just wasn't great or memorable. I would probably not visit here again next time I am in town. Really the overall experience was 3 stars.

Service is friendly, garlic edamame and gyoza was good, and maybe their sushi is better than their hot plates but we were underwhelmed. Whoever in the reviews said that the chicken teriyaki was amazing is straight lying 😭Chicken teriyaki and chicken yakisoba lacked flavor and sauce. I know it’s not the servers fault but they were not able to give us extra of the yakisoba sauce, just teriyaki. Kind of disappointing as a typical yakisoba is well sauced. This one didn’t really taste like a typical yakisoba, kinda like chow mein noodles chicken and veggies with a weak flavoring. I think if we try this place again we would just stick to sushi. Not sure they should offer these other dishes if they’re not going to be executed well 🤷‍♀️

Having seen this place for many years and being told by friends to try it, I overrode my instincts and stopped in. Outside it looks and feels like a dive. Inside is ok but certainly not anything I would take a date to or even consider for dinner. Everything seems very dated and underwhelming. They gave me a sampler to start with fried fish and a little squid salad. The salad was good and refreshing but the fish was horrible... strong flavored and the fry tasted of old grease. The Red Dragon special roll was well presented but again disappointing in flavor. I did not enjoy the tempura inside, I would probably recommend you avoid anything fried or with tempura here. Stick to the fresh and simple items. The spicy tuna roll was simple but certainly the best item I ate here. I don't think I will return as I have way too many really amazing options around

It's been a long time since I've been here. Someone else said this but I agree. Underwhelmed. I got Cali and tuna roll. Blah. And the ginger smelled like you left your clothes in the wash for a day and forgot to put in the dryer. My husband got hot bibambap. Very bland. Even adding a bunch of gochujang and soy sauce didn't help. Sadly I doubt I'll ever come back.

Maybe what i was looking for was more spicy korean authentic jjamppong but it was sweet unfortunately. Sashimi was good/price was reasonable

This was my second time here and I have to say I was very disappointed. My wife ordered chicken dish and I ordered beef Bulgogi. The beef was just a bunch of gristle and difficult to eat. I was wondering why my wife wasn’t eating the chicken. Tasted a piece and had to spit it into a napkin. Wow. Like they started cooking it and forgot about it. Others has sushi and enjoyed it. Maybe you should stick to sushi and not try to cook meat. The appetizers and sides were great. Not going back…

HORRIBLE SERVICE AND MID FOOD! Idk if it was the food we ordered but i thought it was mid. Considering that they had more than 4.5 star reviews maybe I was expecting more? Right of the bat, when me and my friend walked in we were at the stand and waited for while before finally asking the chefs behind the bar (or whatever it’s called) if we needed to sit ourselves because there was nobody upfront… when the host/server finally sat us we, again, waited for more than 20 minutes before she took our orders and I couldn’t exactly wave her down because she was not on the floor. We were beginning to think she forgot about us but she was just in the back majority of the time. They took their time with the food too. All i remember was we got there at around 3:45pm and left at around 5:45pm (only reason i remember was because we were eating in a hurry once we got the food because i had work at 7 and still needed to drop her off-i was hoping to get home sooner instead of hurrying) As seen in the photos, the tempura shrimp was mostly batter but don’t get me wrong the batter was wonderful taste wise, presentation was on point as well. The chicken teriyaki needs more sauce in my opinion, only the chicken was seasoned while the vegetables just were stir fried. It wasn’t too sweet which I loved but the sauce was just lacking. While the beef bulgogi was really good. It was worth the price considering the portion and sides it came with. So definitely would recommend that one! As when we were about to pay we managed to wave down the server and ask for some boxes, and she asked us how the food was which honestly as someone who worked in the serving industry, it’s always courtesy to ask how the food is within the first 10min or at least when they had the first bite, but she was just asking us at the very end when we were about to leave so that should summarize our service in-between the meal (for people who didn’t understand-or service was “non existent” in between). But what made me give them a 2 star is because what the old lady/server/hostess said at the register when my friend paid and gave $5 tip which i told her to do because she paid for my meal and i was gonna leave some cash tip (w/c are better than the cc tips) but not anymore after when she said “only $5tip?” And as if my friend didn’t hear she repeated it again and laughed!!! The audacity!!! I honestly was gonna give $5 more from me even though the service was awful because i understand the service business but not after i heard that. It took everything in me to hold in what I wanted to say, my friend was just being nice and trying to stop me. People who choose to work in the service industry should know that tips are still optional. Under no circumstances should there be a time to shame a person for not leaving a tip. If you want to be tipped then better service should be provided. And if customers still don’t tip, that’s part of being in the service industry which again YOU choose to work at. I’m very disappointed at what I experience at this restaurant.

I'm really not certain how this place has the rating that it does. My wife and I recently had sushi here and we both agreed that it was the worst sushi ever. Not that it wasn't edible, just it lacked any flavor what so ever. I'm really not sure how that is possible. In addition, I often judge a restaurant by their bathroom and the bathroom in this restaurant smelled horrible and was dirty. I definitely wouldn't recommend that you try this restaurant. Despite everything the presentation for the sushi was nice. That's literally the only highlight for this place.
