Snarf's Sandwiches Austin Reviews
Every year, our family has a holiday tradition of ordering a Bûche de Noël, and this year we tried Violette Bakery — and I can honestly say it was the best we have ever had. From the very first bite, it was clear this was something special. The flavors were elegant and layered, with each component complementing the others in a way that felt thoughtful and refined. Violette Bakery didn’t just meet expectations — they surpassed them in every way. This Bûche de Noël wasn’t just dessert; it was an experience, and one we’ll be returning for year after year. Une véritable œuvre d’art pâtissière — aussi délicieuse que magnifique. Bravo et merci pour ce moment de pur bonheur. 🇫🇷✨
The pastry is really delicious! The best pain au chocolat I ever ate in Austin. I also wanted to have coffee but then saw the Keirug push-button coffee machine instead of real espresso machine and was a bit disappointed. I think if place invest in good espresso machine and a bit cozier environment it could be one of the best bakery in town.
Talk about class! We ordered an Opera Cake for my husband's birthday and first, it was stunning and second the flavors were absolutely divine. All our guests were asking where we got the cake! Nice folks, timely and easy interactions. First rate quality. *****To add to the niceness, when friends picked up the cake, they got me an almond croissant which was buttery, flaky and packed with almond paste--more than the ones I sampled in Paris. My husband got an eclair and proclaimed it the richest fluffiest most chocolaty eclair outside of Europe. We are absolutely thrilled to discover Violette Bakehouse. First rate!
They make fresh baked goods daily😍. I recently tried a few treats from this bakery—éclair, chocolate croissant, brioche, and cream puff—and was blown away! The éclair had a perfectly crisp pastry and creamy filling, while the chocolate croissant was flaky and indulgent. The brioche was soft and subtly sweet, and the cream puff was light and delicious. Each pastry was fresh and beautifully crafted. I’ll definitely be back for more! Great atmosphere.
Edit: She now has a store front and it is great! Highly recommend! The founder is French so if you’re looking for an authentic pastry or baked goods experience, this is it! Absolutely incredible! I can’t wait until she has a storefront so I can visit all too often. We ordered a dozen cinnamon rolls, a dozen chocolate croissants, and half a dozen blueberry cream cheese danishes and every single bite was absolutely heavenly. The danishes weren’t too sweet; just a perfect natural sweetness from the blueberries. Makes it feel lighter and you don’t feel like crap afterwards. The pastries went over like gangbusters. We will definitely be ordering regularly from Violette! Thanks for everything!
I ordered the mango and lime cake (I forgot the exact name) and it was so delicious!! It was light, sweet, savory & everything. There were so many desserts to choose from, and the customer service was absolutely top notch. I wasn’t sure what to get, but they helped me decide & I absolutely loved it. 10/10 recommend
I’ve been here several times now and love everything I’ve gotten. The croissants and macarons are so delicious and such a high-quality. I’ve even gifted a box in the past and it was amazing even after a plane ride. We just tried the quiche and my son thinks it’s delicious. I’m so happy this bakery is in the area, and we’ll be coming back often.
Wow ! I just had the Paris brest and it was amazing. The dough was perfect, the texture was amazing and the almond cream was light and so flavorful. I don’t think you could find anything like it outside for France. I will be coming to try everything else! By far the best tasting dessert I have had in Austin.
The owner seems to be working hard, and she's a real French person which I always appreciate. I had a brief conversation with one of her employees, and it seemed like they had decent working environment ("decent" for the food industry; I used to be a line cook... it's not an industry known for good working conditions) so I enjoy supporting that. Anyways, onto the actual food. Austin is a BBQ town for sure, and truthfully, you really shouldn't be going to bakeries if you're visiting Austin. Besides the kolaches that are amazing everywhere, most bakeries, while decent, are not nearly as good as the BBQ. However, since I lived in Austin for a moderate amount of time, I did stop by a few bakeries here and there. For employment reasons, I've moved around the country a fair bit, and I like spending my free time going around to bakeries (except in Austin, it was mostly BBQ here) that make viennoiseries (croissants, brioches, and other similar types of dough). I've been to close to 100 bakeries across all regions of the country, and while I've had better places, I do think Violette's Bakehouse holds its own overall. I didn't try enough bakeries in Austin to give a good ranking in an Austin context, but from the limited context, I didn't think there were many better than Violette. Their pastries are what they're supposed to be. Some bakeries croissants are more soft than flaky, but these croissants are flaky. The macarons are crisp with a slightly chewy center, and they're not hollowed. The flavor and style is fairly classic with some twists, and while I often prefer the Asian-French fusion stuff that's hot in other major cities, I will always have a spot for the classics too. Violette's does seasonal and holiday specials, and these are difficult to find in other places. For example, they offer King cake around Mardi Gras, and I have some pictures included of these cute Easter bunnies. I would have liked to seen the Halloween and Christmas stuff, but I don't live in Austin anymore. However, if you do live in Austin and want some classic French pastries, this is a great spot to try them.
I first found this bakery when looking for someone local to cater an event. She was so helpful in working with my budget and creating a plan of finger foods and desserts that would work for the number of guests and budget. She had the additional constrain of making most of the desserts gluten free and she was very helpful with that. Everything she made was beautiful and delicious. Since then, I have stopped by on a number of occasions to order patisserie from the display. Everything I have tried has been fantastic and right on par with any establishment I visited in France. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re looking for authentic patisserie or a place to cater an event.
Amazing! So glad I found this gem. I needed a cake and when searching stumbled upon their website and the Opera Cake. I tried to order online but was too late for Friday pickup. I called the store and she told me she'd have it ready. They did and it was AMAZING! I also ordered the pistachio paris brest, because why not, and it did not disappoint. I see future orders for sure!
Fantastic, authentic French patisserie. Definitely my best pick in Austin!! Beautiful cakes— incredible piece of art and enjoyable. Taste great and reasonably priced, too. My favorite is Opera (gluten free). I also love their mousses. I wish this patisserie is located in more walkable neighborhoods like downtown or Mueller. You can order online for pick up as well.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the little desserts! I tried all four of these little guys and they did not disappoint. Legit will come back for them all!
I am on an endless quest for the perfect almond croissant. I may have found it at Violette Bakehouse. The almond center was evenly distributed to each end of the pastry so there were no "dry parts". The bottom of the croissant was nicely crunchy and caramelized. The croissant was perfectly flaky. It had some good weight to it (all goodness) . This is my idea of a perfect French croissant pastry. I wish I lived in Austin!
Violette was amazing. I’m not sure why you don’t hear about this place more often but I guess if you know, you know. The chocolate-orange mouse I had was spot on, perfect texture, delicate flavor. I’ll be coming back!
The pastries are legit delicious, but the real winner is the kindness of the staff. We had a mini tragedy, where my daughter spilled her whole hot chocolate that she had *patiently* waited to cool down. They replaced her hot chocolate, and gave her a macaron on the house. Disaster and little girl meltdown completely averted with a simple kind act. Highly recommend the coconut key lime buche!
Me and my friend Barbara have been curious about Bakery Violette. So one day we decided it’s time to try it out. We are impressed with the quality of the baked goods and our favorite things to try was the Pumpkin Moose Flan and the Strawberry bubble teas. What really got us was the Pumpkin Flan and the Hook ‘em Pumpking. Favorite new place to come get our baked pastries and everything needs to try this!!!
Stopped by here on a Friday afternoon for a quick dessert and to take home. The baked goods were not too sweet, has good flavor, and looks absolutely wonderful. There weren't too much variety and price was definitely on the higher end but I still would recommend that you give this place a try if you're looking for these gorgeous dessert treats you see on social media. The 2 girls at the counter were also very friendly and helpful as well.
