The Hideout Pub Austin Reviews
Was staying in The domain and sick of corporate snobby bars and restaurants. The hideout is down the street, causal, and has bomb wings.
Always Fun! And the new food thing they have going is really good 💯😊
Yall used to have a banger A1 Burger. Not sure what happened to it but sometime within this past year It’s gone downhill or it’s just not on the menus. I’m begging yall to bring it back :(
Great spot to unwind, down-to-Earth people. Had an absolutely killer burger and fries.
Love coming here! It's never too crowded, great drinks, great atmosphere, great people.
Best Monday night smash burger. Don’t sleep on this one. You need a Monday night fix? Two beers, two shots, And a smash burger special. Glide through the rest of your week.
This is my staple bar! The staff is always kind and working hard. Drinks are cheap, divorced dad rock vibe is strong, and everything I've tried from their kitchen has hit.
One of the best hidden gems in ATX, hence the name. Great staff! Even better service. Particularly, Byron is the best bartender! He'll take care of you. Plus, he's easy on the eyes.😉
This place was booming when we went there. Lots of customers for the handful of staff working there, but they still took pretty good care of us. Their sound system had an app so you can queue up the music you want to hear. The food was, by far, the best part of the visit. I had a black and blue burger with onion rings, while the other guys in our group got The Works. The meat was excellent, and so was the seasoning. These burgers were juicy without being greasy, and the toasted buns were perfect. Parking was limited, so definitely carpool or come early if you don't want to park on the street. I'll definitely come here again!
consistently consistent. quality and service does matter to these guys. my husband really enjoys a neighborhood bar/restaurant. he plays darts, watches one of their multitudes of flat screens. haha he says he's the old guy at the end of the bar. he mentioned that there are basically 2 groups of people that hang out at the hideout - the inside people and the outside people. the place has a great vibe - inside or out. it's low key, in a great location. best of all, there's a chill clientele - I'd say predominately 25 & up - no kid stuff. def NOT a meat market. it's blissfully UN-trendy. pros: quality, consistency and THE best burgers (omg the bun/bread yumm). cool bathrooms cons: juke box ps. had a drink at their new Pour House (so sad their previous location had to be razed. so painful to see an old historical austin building get demolished). I met the night mgr. wish I got his name. very kind host. addendum: 7/2021. still THE best! addendum: 2/9/2022. still rockin it! wish yall would bring back the fried fish and chicken tenders ✌🏼
Wing night on Wednesdays. $0.75 per wing, orders of 5 wings. This place is super freaking chill. The ONLY downside is that they are not pet friendly. They've tried, but some dog owners just can't catch a break with their doggos getting aggressive. Their grilled chicken is also great. Daily specials. They have a bunch of TVs and a projector screen. There is always one TV at the bar playing a movie... aimed at those who aren't sports friendly lol
Great place, awesome atmosphere and the bartenders know their stuff. Depending on the day you may want to get there a little early, as some groups have meetups which make parking a logistical nightmare.
Love this local dive bar! Drinks are nice and strong, and the food was pretty good. Had the burger, and it was good. I hate they no longer have table service, but the bartenders are very good. We will definitely keep this in our HH rotation.
Great spot! Staff is awesome! Music selection always on point. Hilarious movies usually playing in the background. Inside is nice and dark (the way I want my bar!). Patio area is large. Love The Hideout Pub!!
Traveled to Austin for a conference and decided to stop by this joint as a recommendation from Google. I was not dissatisfied with the food or location. This place is better attended with someone else. I went by myself but it was still a pleasant experience. The inside had really dark lighting. I sat outside on a nice day but could really use some TVs. Got the mean green burger, which was pretty good. Did not try mixed drinks. Prices are good.
It’s the typical neighborhood dive bar that I expected it to be, but that’s not a bad thing. Some of the best things happen in a place like this! TRUST me, it’s nothing but fun, fun, fun, with a capital F-U-N! It’s a good place to do some day drinking, or hang out until the wee hours of the morn’. As Tina said in her review, lots of interesting characters lurk in this place. Including "that" guy who likes to butt into your conversation, and then carry the conversation and not give anyone else a chance to talk. But I won't dock ‘em a star for that. Every neighborhood bar has "that" guy in it. It’s a package deal. Inside is kind of dark and it takes a minute for your eyeballs to adjust if you enter during the daytime. But after a few minutes, all is well and you’ll soon be jamming out to the old school jukebox. You won’t find any Touch Tunes here folks – yes, it still uses CDs (who would have imagined CDs would be considered old school?). Here’s the most important part of this review before I blather on with all of the interesting factoids: If you learn nothing else this year, learn this my young Padawans: Many people say it’s hard to find, so here’s a tip - if you cross the railroad tracks on the access/frontage road, you have just passed it. Turn right on the last street that you see right BEFORE you get to the tracks, and then take another right turn into the parking lot. DON’T cross the railroad tracks! There’s a decent outdoor patio with plenty of picnic tables, and a few of them are shaded. 10 dollar minimum for using a credit card (pet peeve of mine). Wi-Fi password “cheapdr1nks” all in lower case. 12 local and regional craft beers on tap (I counted). They have about 30 brews in cans and bottles, most of them are from the ATX or at least regional. The big name brews are only available in bottles and cans, not on tap. It’s a little pricey for a dive bar - pints of Thirsty Goat were 4.50 Full bar – liquor and eraythang! Six TVs, and a large projector screen (yes I counted). Yes, they do have food – I didn’t partake, but they have tacos, a couple of salads, burgers, sammiches, and the usual bar appetizers.
Needs more parking. Took entirely too long to get food.
Just another hole in the wall bar, nothing worth seeking out. The food was pretty bad and was so greasy it made me ill. All the decent, non Lone Star beer was $7+ so I don't see how other reviewers here are saying they are cheap. $10 for a basket of pickle chips, small and expensive greasy burgers. There's a cool pinball machine in the corner and the workers are nice.
As much as I love this place and have been going here for almost a decade, the food has gone downhill. Their fries are soggy and their burgers are smaller. Edit: just realized hunter left six months ago. That explains the decline. Dude was the only thing keeping this place together Edit 2: they got rid of the A1 burger and wing night, pictured here. Maybe this is still a cool place to go, but it’s not the neighborhood pub I used to know, and I don’t think management has an interest in keeping the original spirit of the spot alive.
If you're a pretty lady, they will overserve you.
We went here because of high reviews. We tried to eat but we're told the kitchen did not open for another hour and a half. Staff was not friendly at all.
