Hadn't been here in a bit. Place was just what I remembered, but nicer. Good staff, good cheap drinks, back patio is perfect for a happy hour.

R
ResoNate

It's a Rad neighborhood type bar. I'm addicted to the Ghostbusters pinball machine, and the two dart boards they offer. The big attraction for most everyone else is the patio. Great service, and dope burgers. Check this place out fa sho!

K

We love this place. The people are wonderful, the food is delicious (try the pulled pork nachos), the drinks are strong, and the atmosphere is just what you need. By far one of my favorite places in the world. We love Ryan!!!!

Great place to have drinks and hang out, they also have a pretty good food menu. Nothing fancy about this place but it's not a hole in the wall either. If your in NW Austin and looking for a place to meet some friends check it out. Parking can sometimes be tough, it's okay to park along Waters Park Road if you need to.

J

Love this place. Perfect hole in the wall neighborhood bar. Emily is the best bartender. I'll come back for sure.

The hideout is back! I've been a loyal Hideout customer for, oh, 5 years now, since I moved into the neighborhood. I was pretty much the only one ordering takeout, but it was so worth it. For the first 2 years, the Hideout was serving the best burgers in the area, but then they started to fall off: got less consistent, less tasty. Well, I've got great news: the hideout burgers are back. The burger tonight was up among the best this town has to offer, and I would say it match Counter Cafe and outdid Hopdoddy. We'll see if they maintain the consistency, but if they do, this brings them right back to the top. I will say, the fries could still use some work. I miss the old seasoned waffle fries at times. Tonight's had too much salt and were a bit on the burnt side. It should tell you how good of a burger it was for a fry hound like myself to keep it at 5*.

Wednesday nights pretty much have me at $1.50 lone stars. We love coming here for a few beers before we play volleyball. I also love coming here for a few beers after softball. They have plenty of outside seating when the weather agrees with it. The inside is very dark; I'm a fan of the lighting, but apparently some people like to look at each other. Who knew? I'm also about in love with an inanimate object as someone can be with their waffle fries. I've heard from my more carnivorous friends their their wings and their burgers are great, as well.

I could almost post the same review I recently left for Billy's on Burnet. The Hideout has the same great features: excellent beers, food, and a good location....but also a terrible parking lot. It's manageable, and it's definitely worth it. I just wish they were open for lunch on the weekends so that I could eat those delicious burgers twice in a day.

This bar is becoming part of the "Old Austin" scene and I love it! There's nothing fancy about it, but they have great service, cheap drinks, and a big back patio with a covered area. What more does a red-blooded American want!?!

B
Blake Sissel

The group that owns this bar has some of my favorite bars all over town. Usually I don't make it this far north but finally did and it definitely met and exceded my expectations. Great food, laid back atmosphere, and super friendly staff.

A
Aaron Vincent

Decent tap selection (including a couple of house beers) and the food is stellar. This place has huge burgers that are the size of your face, and cooked to order. If you leave here hungry, it's your fault.

A
Austen Zachary Bridges

Always a great time when I come by. Happy to say this is worthy of the prices and the service.

B
Byron Massey

Fantastic dive cave. Cold, dark, and great food. Everything you want. Awesome service, Ryan is the man. Nice patio, lots of TVs for sports and classic movies on loop. Top 3 burgers in Austin. Darts and arcade games as well.

The hideout is one of those places and everyone loves. It’s a local dive which has excellent food incredibly well priced beers and cocktails and an easy-going Violet. The outdoor space is a nice plus even though it’s on the edge of a highway you barely notice that. If you like metal music cheap beers and decent price to cocktails it’s the only place like it in North Austin.

C
Cassie Fehr

All the employees are rock stars. Stopped here while in town for work and everybody was so pleasant. The atmosphere is good, very chill and laid back. The drinks are good and well priced.

R

Hot food, drinks, prompt service and Buck Hunter. The hideout pub is a great dive bar. It's hard to call it a dive because 5/7 days of the week the parking lot is full and cars are lining the street. So far I've had a couple of specials, fish and chips, and the wings. None of the food has disappointed. $7 for 5 wings is kind of a ripoff though to be fair - even if they're really good wings. The chili is fantastic. Aside from the great food and service, they always have some dope movies on if you're into that at a bar. Scarface, Ferris Buellers Day Off, Baby Driver... Just to name a few. My one major negative is that the place is a bit intimidating. It's always full, all the windows are blacked out, and the inside is super dim and (perhaps intentionally) poorly lit.... Oh and some of the regulars are a bit odd..... Like talk about the consistency of their poop with strangers odd. But that's to be expected at any dive bar. Overall if you're aware of what you're getting into, The Hideout is great for some drinks after work, a casual date, or a night out with friends.

C

One of north Austin's best bar and grills, and a great little hidden gem. It has an awesome beer garden style patio, and a decent tap selection. Food isn't great but it's decent enough.

J
James Barnett

Went here for a first date, had a great time. Decent prices, great service, and lovely patio. Busy, but not annoyingly so. After happy hour, it slowed down enough to have a private, enjoyable evening. Will probably be back soon.

D
Daisy Garcia

A hidden treasure! The greatest burgers in town, hands down. Great atmosphere, and the pricing are reasonable given the quality of food available. I will most certainly return. It also includes a projector for watching Sunday football.

E
Erin Kelleher

Went here with some coworkers. We were being very rowdy and loud being that we were never able to go out together. Our waitress was very nice and I loved the atmosphere and drink options. Low key place to hideout... if you will.

J
Joe Jungmann

HideOut is a great neighborhood bar. Good selection of beers, good food, good prices. The staff is also very chill, they let me know I couldn't vape inside but that I could outside. Super cool place.

J
John Warren

One of my favorite patios in north Austin. The bartenders are very efficient and there drinks are cheap. They play popular sport games on there projector screen inside. It can get a little crowded on the weekends, but its pretty chill during the week.

G
George Guerrero

Pretty much the best Burger in town. Beer is cheap by the pitcher and the Jukebox is only surpassed by the one at Barflys. Did I mention it's part of the Mugshots Family? There is an nside area if you want to watch the game or large outside patio to relax with large groups of people. Ample parking and of it does get packed there is a long side street that has easy parking.

E
Eric Bliss

Great wings--not soggy in sauce, they hold their crisp--and the patio is great! Honestly, the wings here are better and bigger than Pluckers, and for me that's a good standard--happy hour isgreat here too. Fall, Spring, Summer--hangin' here for wings and beer outside is hard to beat.

H

This is a sister location to the Pour House Pub on Burnet, which is one of my favorite local hangouts. This place is closer to my house, and it has just the same cheap beers and food that I loved to expect from the Pour House. It has a nice patio, not as great as the PH, but enough tables and chairs that you can have large groups of friends to amass. The only problem is that parking can be a pain, so you may have to be creative to find a spot. Still, awesome place to hang with your friends.

C
Chris

Nice bar with big patio area. Ordered a burger to go, and it was solid. I'm a burger guy. Ex GM of Lebowskis Grill, previous Exec Chef of Carve American Grill (2022-2025) and am currently a Senior Exec Sous Chef at Perry's.

e
ebola1645

This is a great place to have a drink with friends after work. The lights are low, the music decent, not too loud that you have to shout but you do need to speak up. Great drink prices, I appreciate them not price gouging for a beer! Also very reasonable prices on food, which is also delicious---I love bar food and this place has some of the best! Avoid late Thursday night if you can't handle weird, but if you like people watching, that's a fun night to go :)

W
William Verdery

Another great night at my favorite spot. Daniel, the chef, is always on point with the delicious menu. And the bar staff was friendly as always.

M
Michele Cape

I love the atmosphere here. Inside they are usually playing a fun movie, often classic but not always. I usually end up hanging out on the patio when the weather is nice. There isn't always table service outside, but if you order food at the bar they will still bring it to you. No dogs allowed on the patio, as you have to go through the bar to get to it. The food is great in my opinion. I love the firehouse chicken & the black & blue burger but I've never had anything bad. The French fries are inconsistently good or meh... I think it depends on the supplier at the time, but recently they were back to being good! If you can get in before 7pm you can grab some cheap well drinks to get the night started.

R
Rebecca

Best bar in North Austin! Their food is amazing and the back patio is large and plenty of outdoor storage. I'd recommend going on Tuesdays when they have tacos! 10/10 will go again!

K
Kevin Kyte

Good people all around. From the bartenders to the wait staff, to the cooks, they're good folks. I've been coming here for about four years or so and have never had a single issue with these guys. Great outside patio, good music, and they play some awesome movies and just about every major sporting event. Also, best burgers I've found. They nail it, can't recommend them enough. Check it out!

A
Alex Cervantes Martinez

As the name mentions, this is the perfect hideout spot for a quick drink or meet with friends. The parking can get crowded, and the location on Google Maps is a bit off, but overall, it is a wonderful bar. Everyone there is super nice, and the drinks are priced reasonably.

A
Antony Long

Awesome little bar. Staff is very friendly, but not cheesy friendly. Cool dudes. Great patio and cozy inside, the mood there is awesome. Beer prices are lower than most places I've been in Austin

J

Have not yet time to eat at this local.. but the food looks and smells delicious. They have .75 wings on Wendsday..WOW. Drinks are cheap and the bartenders are great and attentive. This is in my top 3 of neighborhood bars. Good peeps run this place.

C
Cam Keif

I love this place. They've got great beer at cheap prices, and the food is phenomenal. It can get a little loud sometimes, but not so bad that you can't hear the person next to you. Great spot to hang out.

K
Kit Hammes

I love all the bartenders and servers here. Everyone is always really friendly and their tap selection is great. Also, their chicken nachos are extremely tasty. They have a dart board, several TVs, and a lot of space on their back patio.

k

I'm way late in posting this, but we chose the hideout pub to host my boss's conference and the hideout staff went out of their way to accommodate our party and was outstanding in their service. I was meeting several of my managers for an event and when one of our food orders had been missed, the venue manager took off an entire round of drinks for our company and coworkers to make up for it. We had 11 people to our party, and it was incredibly generous of them.

M

Loud dive bar. Loud. Dive. Fun. Burgers cooked to order (rare these days). Tater tots? They're tops. Not many drafts but all solid. Full bar. Food quality and beer selection punch way above what one would expect. Well done.

E

The best. The food is great, drink selection is phenomenal all by delivered by great staff. Perfect blend of neighborhood dive, service industry sand local tech worker. Music is good from perhaps the most eclectic jukebox in Austin. Very void of duches.

Best Wing Wednesday deal in Austin. I come here every week for their hot wings. Spacious bar with lots of seating. Outdoor patio is great with lots of room for large groups. Great service and staff is always friendly.

Call it the hideout for now but it wont be for long. Overall this is the place to be dor food fun and drinks on a friday night. Great music selections. Great drinks an great company if you do go. On point all the way around. And its affordable

J
Jennifer Y.

Love this place! It is a little piece of the "Austinite" feel but is located up north! They have great draft prices and their patio is adorable with cafe lighting draping the area so the lighting is pleasant at night when you are sitting outside. Their Mean Green burger is AMAZING!!! It does come with jalapeños so if you don't want it too spicy then you can ask them to hold those. I get their ciders and beers on draft and they usually cost like $3 or so. Their wines and canned beers are on the pricey side, though. The location is easy to pass by so make sure you drive so when you are getting close. Parking is minimal but you can park on the little street as long as you don't block the neighbor's gates and driveways. Restrooms are fairly clean. If you are eating then the serves will most likely help you but if you are just here for drinks then you can go up to the bar and get your drinks since it is a "pub" style bar.

Nice place to come and it's literally like the name a "Hideout Pub" they gave my friends and I free shots for St. Paddy's Day

B

Cool low key spot for drinks. Bartenders are always nice and attentive. Didn't have to flash money or do any awkward lean in to get help. Darts are free to play. Big patio out back. A favorite spot of mine

J
Jeremy Christle

I believe The Hideout is my favorite of the bars these guys own, although Barflies was my original dive bar. The food here is shockingly good, it's not just bar food it's restaurant food. If you've got a big group this can be a really good spot but sometimes you got to get there early to claim a table depending on what night it is. If you like dive bars with jukebox and reasonably priced drinks, this is worth checking out.

O
Oscar Perez

Hideout is freaking great! From the kitchen people to the drink people this place blows my socks off! 10 stars if I could!

A
Anh-Thu Tran

Best burgers in Austin. Period. The food is done well and the prices are not too shabby. This is the definition of a local dive bar, so the atmosphere is really relaxed for a good night with friends. And the delicious food always brings us back.

J
Justin Murphy

Great service and laid back atmosphere. Oh and the tochos are amazing and the drinks aren’t overpriced!

A

First time there tonight. I loved the fried pickles. The environment was awesome. I'll definitely be going back!!!!

N
Neeraj Kandukuri

Perfect hideout place for a group gathering or hanging out. They have both outdoor seating and indoor seating along with some games to play. Their whisky/scotch collection is a bit limited but apart from that no complaints.

C

Was staying in The domain and sick of corporate snobby bars and restaurants. The hideout is down the street, causal, and has bomb wings.

This is my staple bar! The staff is always kind and working hard. Drinks are cheap, divorced dad rock vibe is strong, and everything I've tried from their kitchen has hit.

One of the best hidden gems in ATX, hence the name. Great staff! Even better service. Particularly, Byron is the best bartender! He'll take care of you. Plus, he's easy on the eyes.😉

Marshall Prince

This place was booming when we went there. Lots of customers for the handful of staff working there, but they still took pretty good care of us. Their sound system had an app so you can queue up the music you want to hear. The food was, by far, the best part of the visit. I had a black and blue burger with onion rings, while the other guys in our group got The Works. The meat was excellent, and so was the seasoning. These burgers were juicy without being greasy, and the toasted buns were perfect. Parking was limited, so definitely carpool or come early if you don't want to park on the street. I'll definitely come here again!

consistently consistent. quality and service does matter to these guys. my husband really enjoys a neighborhood bar/restaurant. he plays darts, watches one of their multitudes of flat screens. haha he says he's the old guy at the end of the bar. he mentioned that there are basically 2 groups of people that hang out at the hideout - the inside people and the outside people. the place has a great vibe - inside or out. it's low key, in a great location. best of all, there's a chill clientele - I'd say predominately 25 & up - no kid stuff. def NOT a meat market. it's blissfully UN-trendy. pros: quality, consistency and THE best burgers (omg the bun/bread yumm). cool bathrooms cons: juke box ps. had a drink at their new Pour House (so sad their previous location had to be razed. so painful to see an old historical austin building get demolished). I met the night mgr. wish I got his name. very kind host. addendum: 7/2021. still THE best! addendum: 2/9/2022. still rockin it! wish yall would bring back the fried fish and chicken tenders ✌🏼

Wing night on Wednesdays. $0.75 per wing, orders of 5 wings. This place is super freaking chill. The ONLY downside is that they are not pet friendly. They've tried, but some dog owners just can't catch a break with their doggos getting aggressive. Their grilled chicken is also great. Daily specials. They have a bunch of TVs and a projector screen. There is always one TV at the bar playing a movie... aimed at those who aren't sports friendly lol

Really awesome spot. Great food, great beer selection, friendly staff, amazing patio (that sadly is not dog friendly.) seems like they could also use some more staff, when it's busy service is more miss than hit especially on the patio. Parking is definitely a creative struggle at peak times.

B
Benjamin Baron

Good patio bar. The burgers are delicious and the tap list, while not super expansive, offers good variety. Get a Mean Green burger and a Stash IPA, load up the jukebox, and have a good time.

D
Daniel McRae

Had a good time. The atmosphere is relaxed and the out door seating is plentiful. I had the chili burger and it was very well cooked, and the salsa that came with the chips was fantastic.

J
Joseph Thompson

Great service and great bartenders. My favorite Austin bar to watch sports. Also, a great place to relax during the week over happy hour. Exceptional specials, and burgers are always a good choice.

C
Chris Sovine

Good beer selection, good burgers and pub grub. Nice patio but get a beer from the bar on your way because the service can be really slow sometimes outside. Cold and dark inside but really great on the patio when it's nice outside

J
John King

Cheap and good. Also, little known secret, they have some of the best burgers in town. Nice little place to truly hideout. Now that Pour House is gone, there's one fewer place to get cheap booze. The Hideout still lives though.

S
Sherry E.

Hard to find, so the name is fitting. Great burgers! I loved the A-1 and my friend liked the mushroom burger. I will be back to try more. Eliminated a star because of the rotten egg smell in the establishment.

D
David Berardi

Much better alternative to the domain if you want a laid back environment with much cheaper drink prices and it’s nearby. The bartenders here are very experienced so no need to worry about college aged bartenders making their first cocktails for 15 a pop. Great selection of beer and spirits. Check it out!

B
Bettie Millikan

Lacks atmosphere. Great drinks, great servers because they know you by your name. starters are iffy. Burgers are good. We like it a lot. The price is right and they have an outdoor patio for smokers.

J
Jennifer Reinfried

Great patio, not so great indoors. Thankfully found one last table open on the patio so we sat out there instead. Food was decent, nothing crazy good, but for the price, it was good enough. Will be back for happy hour at least.

H
Heather C.

I love that I can come here with a large group and have no problem outside taking over multiple tables. I have no complaints about prices or service. This is a good neighborhood bar, and those things will ebb and flow. Nothing has happened to make me decide to go elsewhere.

J
Joe C

I really like the Hideout, don't get me wrong, the burgers are strangely some of the finest burgers I've had in Austin. A good selection of beer too. But $7 a beer - here - I was pretty shocked by my bill... Be wary ~

T
Travis Mansfield

Good place if you're looking for an unpretentious dive bar with pretty good pub grub. They have a full bar and decent selection of beer so everyone will find something they like. The patio in the back is serviceable - has a small amount of cover and shade, but expect to get a good dose of second hand smoke / vape.

A
Andrea Schultz

I only ate there and drank two Austin ciders, but it was delicious. They offer gluten-free buns as that are substantial, not wimpy. It was great to not have to go without or order some partial meal. The chips and salsa were also an offered side, rather than fries(sometimes you can cross contaminate there). I'd definitely suggest this place to others.

R
Richard Austin

Great dive bar with cheap libations and decent bar food.

F
Fhire S

It was a mixed crowd of people, a mixed age group and they had a variety of music that played. The "bar" food was great. I had the garlic parmesan wings and the slider bugers. The parking was not very good, because the lot was just too small for the crowd they pull in. Its a neighborhood type bar. Nice place to try if you haven't. I would have ranked the hideout 5, but the margaritas brought the score down. I had 3 and NOT EVEN close to "feeling it"...I switched to shots. The bartender(s) were good. Id go back though

n
nit4muhnee

The food here is underrated. I've had several items, but I usually end up going back to the Mean Green Burger. You cant miss with that one. Beer selection is decent, not great and not poor. The service is good at the bar. They are quick and friendly. The prices are pretty good, and they have seating outside or inside depending on what you prefer. Location is good. Parking isnt great but serviceable. They also have games you can play or TVs you can watch as well

M
Melanie McDaniel

I literally go here all the time, I love this little dive bar and the staff is stupendous. The food beats any local fast food hands down. Fantastic place for groups to meet, especially if they are willing to brave the elements on the back patio. There is also a jukebox, so instead of having to listen to songs you hate, you and your friends can go and change the music selection. Also has a lot of local breweries represented and a really knowledgeable bar staff.

Mark H
Mark H

Great place, awesome atmosphere and the bartenders know their stuff. Depending on the day you may want to get there a little early, as some groups have meetups which make parking a logistical nightmare.

Love this local dive bar! Drinks are nice and strong, and the food was pretty good. Had the burger, and it was good. I hate they no longer have table service, but the bartenders are very good. We will definitely keep this in our HH rotation.

Great spot! Staff is awesome! Music selection always on point. Hilarious movies usually playing in the background. Inside is nice and dark (the way I want my bar!). Patio area is large. Love The Hideout Pub!!

Traveled to Austin for a conference and decided to stop by this joint as a recommendation from Google. I was not dissatisfied with the food or location. This place is better attended with someone else. I went by myself but it was still a pleasant experience. The inside had really dark lighting. I sat outside on a nice day but could really use some TVs. Got the mean green burger, which was pretty good. Did not try mixed drinks. Prices are good.

It’s the typical neighborhood dive bar that I expected it to be, but that’s not a bad thing. Some of the best things happen in a place like this! TRUST me, it’s nothing but fun, fun, fun, with a capital F-U-N! It’s a good place to do some day drinking, or hang out until the wee hours of the morn’. As Tina said in her review, lots of interesting characters lurk in this place. Including "that" guy who likes to butt into your conversation, and then carry the conversation and not give anyone else a chance to talk. But I won't dock ‘em a star for that. Every neighborhood bar has "that" guy in it. It’s a package deal. Inside is kind of dark and it takes a minute for your eyeballs to adjust if you enter during the daytime. But after a few minutes, all is well and you’ll soon be jamming out to the old school jukebox. You won’t find any Touch Tunes here folks – yes, it still uses CDs (who would have imagined CDs would be considered old school?). Here’s the most important part of this review before I blather on with all of the interesting factoids: If you learn nothing else this year, learn this my young Padawans: Many people say it’s hard to find, so here’s a tip - if you cross the railroad tracks on the access/frontage road, you have just passed it. Turn right on the last street that you see right BEFORE you get to the tracks, and then take another right turn into the parking lot. DON’T cross the railroad tracks! There’s a decent outdoor patio with plenty of picnic tables, and a few of them are shaded. 10 dollar minimum for using a credit card (pet peeve of mine). Wi-Fi password “cheapdr1nks” all in lower case. 12 local and regional craft beers on tap (I counted). They have about 30 brews in cans and bottles, most of them are from the ATX or at least regional. The big name brews are only available in bottles and cans, not on tap. It’s a little pricey for a dive bar - pints of Thirsty Goat were 4.50 Full bar – liquor and eraythang! Six TVs, and a large projector screen (yes I counted). Yes, they do have food – I didn’t partake, but they have tacos, a couple of salads, burgers, sammiches, and the usual bar appetizers.

First time to The Hideout Pub, this is what I thought... -I had the Austin Burger. The burger & goat cheese were both very good. The onions & mushrooms were sauteed to death. -Pretty decent selection of beer on tap. -Server was very very friendly. -Very good prices.

It’s official. Californians have taken over. Since when do Austinites like an overload of FETA CHEESE on their burger? Onion rings were good. Staff is good. Just not the same dive bar it used to be.

Loud but not nuts. Almost always at least one place to sit indoors or out. Generous, greasy bar food. Candy sweet house drinks. Decent liquor and beer selection. Has been getting the job done for me for years.

Decently priced, unpretentious bar. Food is ok, drinks are the same as anywhere. Definitely just a drinking spot, loud as heck and nothing else to do there. Pretty good patio out back, but it's literally 20 feet from an on ramp so I hope you like exhaust...

We came here based off of good reviews but we probably won’t be back. Honestly the food was alright but nothing about the place tells you how to order. It looks like a sit down restaurant with a bar but you have to walk up to the bar to order? We were very confused. The staff was unwelcoming.

Needs more parking. Took entirely too long to get food.

Just another hole in the wall bar, nothing worth seeking out. The food was pretty bad and was so greasy it made me ill. All the decent, non Lone Star beer was $7+ so I don't see how other reviewers here are saying they are cheap. $10 for a basket of pickle chips, small and expensive greasy burgers. There's a cool pinball machine in the corner and the workers are nice.

I like the quiet energy but don't pour two shots when I ordered one . And make sure you ask if you can take plates away before you take them and ask if we are done. You just fingered my food without asking if I was done. You must ask before you take ppls food away. Covid is still real!

Sure, the patio is nice but the inside smells like a septic tank and management has the decorum of a barn animal. You'll have a much better time at one of the numerous other bars or breweries in North Austin.

As much as I love this place and have been going here for almost a decade, the food has gone downhill. Their fries are soggy and their burgers are smaller. Edit: just realized hunter left six months ago. That explains the decline. Dude was the only thing keeping this place together Edit 2: they got rid of the A1 burger and wing night, pictured here. Maybe this is still a cool place to go, but it’s not the neighborhood pub I used to know, and I don’t think management has an interest in keeping the original spirit of the spot alive.

Fun bar and atmosphere for the most part, but not dog friendly and you don’t find out until you walk in. How can you not be dog friendly, with a patio, in Austin? Not to mention, I’ve definitely seen dogs on the patio here before. Kills it for me.

Good bar, well made drinks on request, menu is redirected to a scannable tab, bar tending and foodstuffs order taking is atrocious, bar staff are more concerned about being tough looking than service oriented, rudeness is apparently a NORMAL and acceptable solution to any order at the bar. I tipped 50% of my total checkout bill, received snide and rude comments to my outgoing observations. I would not recommend this pub to someone looking for a friendly neighborhood bar.

If you're a pretty lady, they will overserve you.

We went here because of high reviews. We tried to eat but we're told the kitchen did not open for another hour and a half. Staff was not friendly at all.
