The Library Austin Reviews
The year was 2012 and the bartender upstairs was serving up some incredible PURPLE DRANKS! The atmosphere was just perfect and this place was an escape from all the exams and projects. Anyone remember the purple drink because it is now 2026 and I still want a taste of 2012 again… anyone know that recipe?
This is a really fun bar. DJ was the best I think I’ve ever come acoss at a bar, and drinks were fairly priced. Make the pool table free and it would be perfect.
Landon helped my elderly mother cross the street, so we decided to stop by for a few drinks. We let this young gentlemen know that we were stinkers for Moscow mules, and I’ll tell you what. HE DELIVERED. I haven’t been this wet since the summer of ‘69. Beer was cheap, Landon kept winking at me. Decided to make him the godfather of my child. Would highly recommend. I heard sailor Sundays are an experience similar to that of seeing god, but late nights with Landon are pretty cool too.
I visited this bar in the afternoon and then later at night. Seemed to be very different places During the day they offer lots of sports on the big TVs above the bar. They also have beer pong and plenty of space to mingle. At night, the place just goes crazy and smells very strongly of tequila
Went for my best friends birthday and we were at the upstairs bar. I asked for liquor they only had downstairs but Drew went and got some for me anyways so I didn't have to go down there. Probably one of the nicest bartenders I've met and he definitely deserves the praise. Thanks for making our night great.
This place has a DJ that was smokin the turntables. Music selection crosses various styles. You can hear about 7-8 tracks in about 5 min with the stellar mixing. Upstairs gives a bird's eye view to everything on the bottom floor. They allow bar top dancing. Well lit drinks were standard. Be back just for the vibe.
In the years I have known this Library it still has a great bar room feel with its own unique personality. Great place to grab a drink and meet people. The good news is that the music does get loud and you can't hear the people you met earlier. When I am tired during the day, I just say it was a late night at The Library and true Austinites know what I mean.
The Library is an okay bar and I mean that in every sense of the word. We paid $13.50 for a whiskey sour there, criminal. The vibe was decent with the upstairs being a bit packed. There’s some arcade games and pool tables to play but the tables are not well kept and hogged. Also, the constant drink spilling upstairs creates drops that come through the ceiling if you’re on the ground floor. The DJ was solid and there was some dancing which redeems a few points for this place but to sum it up: there are better bars, even on Dirty Sixth.
Visited on a Saturday night and expected it to be crowded. It was! I don't know how they get away with the crowds on Dirty Sixth Street. There are police officers everywhere but just hanging out conversing among themselves. Drunks/drug users hanging on the center metal post looking deceased and cops are feet away doing nothing. Sixth street at night is good to visit one time if you're an adult. Otherwise, it is definitely a youth hang out. Food and drinks are expensive and not worth your money. If you get a bottle beer, perfect otherwise draft beer and cocktails are watered down.
Their lovely bartender didn’t like how I was standing to the edge of the bar close to where the bartenders enter on an empty Sunday night. When I called his request silly, he proceeded to grab me by the shirt, push me out of the entire bar, and shove me fully onto my back on the pavement outside the bar, snapping my chain. Didn’t assault, nor touch the bartender once! Have fun with your assault charges! Police report filed!
my boyfriend and i went last night, we got two beers that were supposed to be 7.50 each, we paid, tipped $5 in cash and scratched out the tip line on the receipt. we even tipped $2 cash on a cup of water we got later. we were charged $30 for 2 beers because the bartender wanted to give herself a nice 100% tip. we tried to call and got a dial tone so yeah dont go here youre going to get scammed even if youre nice to the people. screw yall we are not coming back.
Bartender with man-bun (Never got name) acted and smelled intoxicated. Continuously acted aggressively towards our group and falsely accused a member of our group of throwing a can behind the bar. Bouncer eventually came in and started to aggressively yell, push, and jerk at members of my party completely unwarranted. Made a remark as I was leaving the bar to the bartender about his haircut which enraged him enough to leave his position at the bar and confront me to my face before I completely ignored him and walked out. Completely deranged not to mention grossly unprofessional, clearly this individual has major problems.
