The Old Town Restaurant and Bar Bastrop Reviews
Had a great lunch here today: enjoyed the food (Steak/blue cheese salad, shrimp tacos, creme brulee), all delicious, the service was so friendly and quick, and the tvs tuned to Olympics today made it extra fun. They have daily specials and happy hour. Reasonable prices. We're looking forward to going back soon!
Stopped by on our way home to Dallas and found the best chicken fried steak I've ever had, and speaking of the best, their fried pickles and creme brulee are to die for!!! Hopefully you'll have Hope as your server because she's the absolute best server I've had in quite awhile! Highly recommend
i went down to visit and everyone was spectacular!! the service was A1 and our server Emily (red and black hair) made sure we were well taken care of. the food was amazing and the drinks were strong. always a good place to visit if you’re in bastrop:)
Excellent atmosphere to watch the NFL game. Food was hot and fresh. Our server Kalijah W. was great. She was very attentive to all of her tables.
Great service and the food was really good. Not to mention all the games on TV. The girls at the bar were awesome. Believe ones name was Sophia...made a great margarita
All around nice place. Food and drinks were great. Everyone was very nice. We had already eaten but tried a few things as we made our way around bar hopping
Very inviting atmosphere, guest and staff are all friendly. Food was great and prices were very fair. Will return!
I got 10 ghost chili inferno wings. Best wings I've had anywhere. They bring the heat AND still had crazy good flavor. Definitely recommend!
I’ve lived in central Texas all my life, but I’d never taken the time to explore downtown Bastrop. I was completely charmed, and historic places like Old Town are a big reason why. This place reminds me of a saloon from the Old West, except that the beer is really good! Friendly barkeeps, lots of regulars, great atmosphere. If I lived closer, I’d be here often.
We tried this place as we are from out of town. Absolutely amazing. The service was excellent, 2 different managers checked on us. The food was great. We got cheese sticks and queso for starters. Both were fabulous, the queso was our favorite from our 2 years in Texas. Our kids got the chicken tenders and loved them. The bear batters fries were specifically good. My wife got the new York strip which she loved. I got the chicken fried chicken and the raspberry chipotle wings which were all great. Can't wait to come back.
Good local bar with really good food. Im a huge wing fan and the Hot Buffalo wings are some of the best around. The steak won't disappoint either.
We stopped here to eat lunch after visiting Ryan Holliday's bookstore down the street. The outside of the place gives the impression that it's an old home-style eatery, but inside it has a sports bar atmosphere. The food was good and the server was decent. It may be worth a visit for the food if you don't mind a sports bar vibe.
I really enjoy this place! On Wednesday's and Friday's they have Karaoke night hosted by an amazing DJ. The staff is so much fun and sometimes one of them will sing a song. They have a large bucket in the center of the bar filled with ice cold beers for quick access. Everyone is very nice and I highly suggest going for a good time.
Honestly, they just did not have their act together at all. Highly, unorganized and not having a hostess to seat people in each servers section is restaurant 101. It was incrediblely slow getting drinks and our food. Food was not amazing it was ok. I couldn't eat my chicken sandwich as the chicken was tough as shoe leather. I waited for my hamburger for a long time and started to lose my patience. The servers weren't working like a well oiled machine at all. I've seen it and been a part of a well oiled machine this was not it. Not a great experience overall.
We meet a friend of ours here from time to time. It’s a bunch of unwelcoming regulars. The staff seems to be bothered to serve newbies, even. I hate when I go somewhere and a server asks you to cash out because they’re leaving. 😒 The fried pickles were DELICIOUS. Spicy! The beer was cold. 🤷🏽♀️ It is conveniently the latest bar opened in Bastrop.
My server was Amelia she was very rude to us during the order and forgot our sauce. When we came back in for the sauce she charged us a dollar. Mind you we left her and eight dollar tip which should have been zero. That tip should have been used to pay for the sauce. 0/10 do NOT suggest Amelia.☹️☹️
Just ate there this afternoon for lunch. I’m sad to say that within 30 minutes of eating I started to feel kind of sick. It’s been 6 hours and now 2 of us have food poisoning. The other person who got sick ate the remainder of my food so it was definitely my meal. It took almost 45 minutes for us to even get our food after we ordered.
Depending on what food you get it's ok, but if you are not a local you will get crappy service. And watched a guy in kitchen drop raw potatoes and then turn around and wrap them for baked potatoes. Had our server pass us off to someone else because she didn't want to have to deal with us. Only thing that saved this review is the young guy how stepped up to help us when the server jumped ship. If I lived here it would be bottom of my list. Would not recommend.
Food took way too long. My steak was cold. Managers excuse was "we were busy". Did not even offer a discount or even an apology. Pretty sad considering we've been going there for over 10 years. Waitress was great.
