good variety of choices as a matcha lover, was pleasantly surprised at how good the drink is really liked how chewy the pearls were recommend getting their yuzu matcha latte with unsweetened option

Stopped by to grab a drink and was pleasantly surprised. The milk tea was really good, and the drinks came out fairly quickly. I ordered a matcha milk tea with boba, and the flavors were nicely balanced. The matcha wasn’t too bitter, and the boba had a great chewy texture. I also picked up a croissant, and it was surprisingly good. Light, flaky, and a nice little treat to go with the drink. It was an easy and enjoyable stop, and I’d definitely come back to try more items on the menu next time.

Some of the best matcha around! I have been buying their bulk organic matcha for years and it is bright and delicious!

Great offering of high quality tea based drinks, hugely popular for a reason. They now added even a match soft serve which is great. Hot or cold, the offerings are excellent

Good tea house. Bad place for a breakup 😭. You’ll find yourself wanting to come back and won’t know if it’s for the tea or the relationship you’re missing… it’s the tea. Asha is often crowded but there’s a seat or two open. The tea is high quality, especially the matcha and HK milk tea! Pretty classic Berkeley spot if I do say so myself 🤭

Great selection of tea from India and all over the world, both hot and cold. We had a boba tea and Hong Kong tea.

Asha has always been and will continue to be my favorite matcha shop in the Bay Area. I’m so glad we have this place and the quality / selection here never disappoints. I first started coming here while a student and now that I’m still in the Bay, make sure to stop by whenever I’m in Berkeley as this is truly the best. The drinks use high quality matcha and taste delicious. They also have a hojicha option which is a bit more hard to find and tastes equally as amazing. The interior of this spot is very cozy with minimalist Japanese vibes and large ceilings. Can’t recommend this place enough!

One of my favorite milk tea places in the Bay Area! They serve high-quality teas and accept reusable boba containers! However, their straws and containers can be industrially-composted as well. They have a set menu but also have seasonal flavors. You can order at the counter or at the tablet. It is often filled with college students as the campus is nearby.

My go-to for traditional non-milk teas; I favor hojicha & matcha. The seasonal flavors such as yuzu & asian pear add another level of variety & complexity & you can get it unsweetened as well. There are local baked goods but they disappear quickly, but I was able to snag a black sesame cookie. The matcha sparkler hits the spot on a warm day too.

This spot is aesthetically unique with it’s minimalistic modern architecture! The drinks hit the spot just as equally (pictured iced chai latte and matcha latte). While super flavorful and aromatic, the infused spices in the chai latte are quite strong and would suggest getting a hot version of the drink without boba.

I love the architecture and atmosphere of this place. Green tea is excellent! We didn't think this is the best place for Boba. (My husband and my daughter are the Boba freak!) I LOVE the menu. Very different and well done. I thought this place could be more cleaner. Flies are just everywhere and floor are very messy. But overall, come and try their many choices of hot tea.

Had an absolutely delicious ginger Asian pear tea. Perfectly sweet and warm for a cold day. Would absolutely order again. Customer service also wonderful. One star removed due to price ($8.25 for a single small tea) and cup (leaky and had one of those awful clear plastic lids from a gas station)

Nice tea house at Berkeley. They have another location at SF. We stopped by after lunch. Looks like it is a good place to study or work as I see many customers working on the laptop. I heard this tea house is pretty famous. it has nice interior and high ceiling. They also have one popup store inside when we visit. There are plenty of teas and match varieties. They also sell the match powder, tea leaf and Hojicha powder . They also have imperial Matcha powder. We ordered just cold matcha and it was good. it was not that strong. We will stop by next time to try other tea.

I ordered a strawberry matcha latte with oat milk to sip on while waiting for my friends to get brunch at Berkeley Social Club just down the street. The matcha was pretty good but the strawberry to matcha ratio was off with barely that much strawberry compote compared to the amount of matcha and milk in the drink, so once I stirred it, the strawberry flavour was minimal. I would get the matcha by itself and skip the addition of strawberry next time.

Always a lot of people here, but never too crowded that I can’t find a seat. The selection of drinks seems very curated and well made. Matcha is always great here! Love stopping by to get a drink before going on with my day. The decor here is very cozy.

This tea house is supported by the sale of bubble tea and other tea-family sweet drinks served in plastic disposable cups and straws. The space is cool, but the vibe is ruined by poorly amp'd junk music that is more sound graffiti than music. They would be better off with ambient sounds or no music at all. But invest is speakers first. I know a thing or two about tea, so I wanted to enjoy some properly brewed Chinese tea while in Downtown Berkeley. I opted for Da Hong Pao (Great Red Robe), a generally wonderful tea from Fujian. I watched the staff brew it in a small pot; after steeping, they served it to me in 8 oz ceramic cup. Serving chinese tea to westerners in a way that works in can be hard. I prefer gongfu places where I can brew myself and get multiple steeps. Or places devoted only to tea and not tea infused drinks. That said, it wasn't a bad brew. But one doesn't get to linger over the tea, or enjoy the other aspects associated with traditional tea culture here. I won't come back unless it's empty, the music is off, or something else changes. If you want a fruit, milk or bubble tea, I would recommend. Head to Blue Willow, Far Leaves, or Teance if you want to drink actual tea. They could certainly do it here, but they can't do both starbucks-style tea and fine tea at the same time. It's a shame.

I usually love Asha but this time the owner gave me a lecture about ordering hot matcha with mango on the side. He said it ruins the experience. I paid $8 for the drink so if I decide to ruin my experience then that’s on me. I actually enjoyed the warm matcha with the added mango. Fortunately, the barista was understanding and sold me the matcha with mango on the side. Plus it is condescending to give a customer a scolding. It was awkward.

Would give this place 3.5 stars since it is a very small teaplace with limited seating. A true tea traditionalist place with many assortment of teas to choose from. The boba is really soft and chewy. They use fresh mint for my herbal mint tea. Would come back again when there r less people.

both my hojicha and matcha latte were chalky/pwdery. the matcha only tasted like almond milk.

i’m actually baffled because this is THE WORST matcha i’ve ever had and i’ve had some mid ones. NEVER order a matcha here is REALLY bad…… bruh 6$ down the drain

I am not here to disgust anyone who have seen this review. But I would have to say if you have seen this review, congrats on not drinking a milk tea with a FLY. YES, THERE IS A FLY INSIDE THE DRINK. And I only found it after I had already drink it. I bought from this store for AT LEAST 30 times, and I CANNOT believe how were all the drinks I ordered from here before. I HAVE DEFINITELY reported this food safety issue to Alameda County Department of Health.
