Bansho Ramen Berkeley Reviews
Stopped in on a rainy evening and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and a couple sushi rolls. My Dragon Roll was amazing - flavorful and so fresh. The California Roll was delicious and as expected. Absolutely would visit again :) Thank you for a delightful visit!
I got the Bansho ultimate ramen. It was delicious! So flavorful and the portion was perfect. I wish they’d have done a full egg in two halves rather than just one half because it was delicious and it’s something so small that could elevate it even more. I’d definitely eat this again
Cozy place, delicious edamame, gyoza, and ramen. Several ramen dishes and sushi too. Loved this restaurant!
Let me say This was my very 1st Time ever trying Ramen and I was taking a stroll in Berkeley looking for a bomb spot to try and this place did NOT disappoint! Im so happy I just tried it out. Everything was so great! From the customer service to the food! 10000/10. I did the custom Ramen! Ill be back with my Husband!
Amazing Ramen, everything was good and the people who works there was really nice, I would love to return
Excellent place, ramen was surprisingly good as we were the 2 only clients and we were looking for any place opened and it was one of the only few available.
Was not expecting this place to be as good as it was. Everything was super tasty and they give you good portions. The inside definitely looks better than the outside. Don't underestimate this spot it's such a hidden gem.
The best ramen I’ve ever had! Zoe, your service was immaculate. Thank you for all of your recommendations.
Very yummy ramen
Omg this place is so delicious. I sipped the rest of the tonkotsu broth from the bowl. The meat melts in your mouth.
Not kidding when I say it’s the best sushi I’ve had in recent memory. The Bansho House Roll with shrimp and tempura salmon literally melted in my house. I normally like sushi, but I don’t love it. I LOVED their sushi. My family also absolutely loved their ramen. Don’t walk here, RUN. Cherry on the cake was that it’s a cute little place.
Such a great spot for ramen, sushi, and rice bowls. We had the onion tonkatsu and the mayu ramen and both were delicious. The noodles were chewy and ingredients were super fresh. The pork belly in the mayu was divine and there was so much of it. Prices were reasonable especially with the portions. Amazing flavor, I'll definitely be back. The service was great too and atmosphere was clean and nice. Nothing super fancy, but a great chill spot. 🍜🥢🥚🍥🍣 takoyaki and karaage were also super great!

Pretty good fairly priced ramen here in southside. They give you tons of pork in the tonkotsu ramen. Nice rich broth!
Overall i had a good experience. It's priced reasonably. Would not recommend some of the spicy options bc they just taste like peppers but the other options were great.
We tried the veggie shio and veggie shoyu ramen, both were good. I usually like my ramen to be more creamy, so these options are not my favorite. Service was great. Some homeless person had put their stuff right in front of the main door to the restaurant, which felt a little unwelcoming.. but the vibe within the restaurant was great.
Great Ramen and appetizers, I got the special Ramen it really satisfied my taken craving. Service could be better but the food was great.

Are you guys serious? Is this the best ramen in Berkeley? This joint is run by Chinese / Cantonese people, I understand why some reviews say the food tastes more like Cantonese rather than Japanese after ordering the Bansho ultimate. It is quite expensive, $20 after tax. For this price I'm expecting a lot more portions and more than a single slice of pork. The broth has no depth of flavor and is too salty in a bad way. While the noodles are almost bland. The ultimate got a lot of gimmick ingredients trying to stand out but I would prefer they master the basics of good ramen. I did not try their sushi. The service was fine. Plenty of interior seating.
We started with the Karaage, Japanese-style fried chicken, which was flavorful and had a nice kick of ginger. However, when it came to the Tonkotsu Traditional pork bone broth ramen, we were left wanting more. The broth lacked the richness and depth of flavor we expected from a tonkotsu broth, which was disappointing. On a brighter note, the Bansho Ultimate Ramen offered a more satisfying experience. The rich pork bone broth with homemade garlic seasoning provided a tasty base, and the variety of toppings, including simmered pork belly, ground pork with miso paste, and fried gobo (Burdock Root), added layers of flavor and texture. In particular, the fried burdock root added a unique crunch that complemented the dish well.

I got tonkotsu ramen and genmaicha. The genmaicha tasted a little burnt. In the ramen, some of the ingredients were still a bit cold - the egg, and some of the roots/veggies. The broth was okay. The actual noodles were surprisingly good.
