Blue Bottle Coffee Berkeley Reviews
As a self proclaimed espresso purist I was really impressed by the Juniper Latte. Good pour and nice presentation, good shot flavor. What else can one ask for? Decent places to sit too.
Guys, seriously, why is it impossible to find decent coffee in the US? I'm from Switzerland, and during my week in Berkeley, I drank coffee everywhere. Seriously. In every coffee shop I could find. And only here does the coffee resemble the drink they call coffee in Italy or Portugal. Thank God I found it!
I take my coffee black. As I haven’t really tried anything else, I cannot comment on the rest of their offer, but their 6 dollar pour over meets my (high) standard for coffee. In terms of atmosphere, the place is minimalist, modern, spacious. It’s not a cozy place, but I like looking out the window on the street drinking coffee - I find it calming. I get coffee here regularly while staying in Berkeley.
☕️🌞 Berkeley Bliss: Sipping Sunshine at Blue Bottle Coffee 🌇🥛 My recent visit to Blue Bottle Coffee in Berkeley, California, was a delightful rendezvous with caffeinated goodness. But before we dive into the details, did you know that Berkeley's charm often lies in its corner cafes, inviting you to soak in the Californian sun? 🌞 Now, let's spill the beans on our Blue Bottle experience: Aesthetic Ambiance: 🏞️ Corner Perfection: Nestled in a good old corner location, the café was a picturesque escape. 🪟 A Flood of Natural Light: The abundant windows let the Californian sunshine pour in, creating an inviting atmosphere. Coffee Chronicles: 🥛 Oat Milk Extravaganza: For the coffee connoisseurs who favour oat milk, this place has your back. 📡 Wi-Fi Wonders: Open Wi-Fi was a boon, and the landing page greeted us with tempting discounts. Perfect for those who want to pair their coffee with a bit of work or leisure. 🌐 The Need for Speed: On the flip side, the Wi-Fi speed left something to be desired, clocking in at 4.3Mbps for download and 0.3Mbps for upload. Streaming might be a tad sluggish here. 🎶 Jazzy Vibes: An upbeat, jazzy soundtrack played in the background, creating a pleasant ambiance without drowning out conversation. In conclusion, my time at Blue Bottle Coffee in Berkeley was a sunny affair. With an excellent location, a cascade of natural light, and oat milk for your java, it's a charming spot to sip and savour. Just don't forget to bring your own honey and cinnamon if you like to sweeten the deal🍯🍂.
My go to place for drip coffee filters (best engineered!) and gifts for coffee nerd friends (including me😊) Add a croissant or cookie to sweeten the gift 🎁 The space: open and inviting, good for friends catch up or business talk.
Egg bites are way more delicious than Starbucks’, but it's $6 and a bit tiny. I tried the New Orleans NOLA latte, and it feels like it has oat milk in it. If you don't like oat milk, I would recommend a latte.

I bought a bag of coffee beans from target. Taste is smooth bold but not to strong. I used a coffee press and added alittle oat milk sprinkle of cinnamon its pretty good. If you can have a cup of coffee with out all the sugars and it taste good and not bitter...its good coffee. Now that I'm aware this is a local business I will come in and try it out.
This cafe is a but pricey, but it's worth it. It has a very high ceiling, making it feel roomy. The best part: Dogs are ALLOWED, and they even have dog treats, which are high quality. I always order the following for $11: x1 Iced Black Tea (16oz), 1x Caramel Chocolate Chunk Cookie. I highly reccomend you to visit here.

This was my first time here and I tried two different iced coffee's. I ordered the Nola iced coffee and the orange cream Nola. Both of these drinks were delicious and the customer service was quick and friendly with no wait. I would return but it would be a different time since parking is extremely difficult to find.
Caffeine Fix and Natural Light! We were in Berkeley for a business meeting, and my colleague suggested we stop by this Blue Bottle Coffee location for a caffeine fix. The place is nicely set up. It has large glass windows on two sides, letting in plenty of natural light, so you can enjoy your caffeine drink while watching the foot traffic outside. We opted for takeaway drinks, but the wait was a bit longer than usual due to a rush and a shift change. No worries, though! We had a chance to chat while we waited. My Winter Blend coffee with cream hit the spot! The caffeine boost did its magic, and we returned to the meeting feeling alert and ready to tackle the rest.
The coffees and chocolates are very exquisite and unique. It's pretty expensive with all coffee drinks $5+ but it's good to have once in a while. The croissant is delicious as well, and the other pastries looked that way too.
Very good coffee.. smooth taste. Breakfast sandwich was good too
This cafe is well placed in West Berkeley, away from the frenetic pace of University, with plenty of outdoor seating and indoor seating to match. The floor to ceiling glass walls create a nice ambience and the bar-style service and pickup ordering process are quick and efficient. Only issue is sometimes the quality of the drink is lacking compared to other cafes in the area.

Ok this cafe is super famous near the campus so there are a number of fans for this place. I could see the reason why - they have good coffee and the place seems hip. There are two reasons for giving 3 stars. First, at least the coffee I ordered - New Orleans - was not that good for me. It seemed like the coffees ordered by others looked nice and smelled great so I think that I was just a bit unlucky in that I did not order something that would have fit my taste. Second, as a cafe-goer for studying, it was absolutely not a favorable place for working. There is no plug and the chair is not comfortable. I don't want a comfy sofa but just some chairs with at least a back. Let me update the first part after trying other menus but so far it was a bit hard for me to find some reasons to visit here again.
The cold brew is good, but often times I am finding myself waiting 10+ minutes to have my order taken, even when the store is quite empty with 3 workers. They don't work with urgency, so I'd only come here if you arent short on time.
great for stop and go - but if you want to study somewhere cozy, you should know that there are no outlets and the seats don't have a lot of legroom.
Best coffe I've ever had hands down (whole milk small latte), but absurd pricing, rude staff, and takes ages, so be sure to have some time in front of you...

This Blue Bottle location was and is a prime example of why I will be careful about going back to this location. It’s located in a prime location in Downtown Berkeley which is quite convenient from the BART location, so I figured to go here and get my work done. Here was my experience thus far at the Berkeley location: (1) The first thing that irked me big time was the fact that they didn’t have outlets… let alone blocked outlets that you don’t allow guests to use. No wonder that’s why there was such less foot traffic than all other local coffee shops in our area… The atmosphere of the coffee shop was absolutely unwelcoming too. Chairs were just the right size but tables were too close — I didn’t have enough personal space to get my work done and it was annoying having to tend to protecting my things because of the fact that the staff wasn’t going to do anything to let these homeless people stay or leave. (2) The service was just very unwelcoming - it felt rushed and I had to force myself to smile through the ordering process of things. I was constantly looked down at the baristas like I was being surveillanced, and to be honest, it made me feel really uncomfortable. (3) Food wise: the iced NOLA with whole milk was actually a delicacy. It wasn’t bad and the equilibrium between coffee and milk was right just there. Overall, i don’t know if I’ll be back honestly.

I love the coffee but it takes the baristas at this location way too long to make my order. I usually come at 11.30 AM before work, hoping to go in and out quickly because there is barely anyone there when I go. It takes the baristas 10-15 minutes to make my order even though there were 4-5 employees and only 1 order ahead of me. The employees at this location chat away which I usually don't mind but they do so without prioritizing their work.

I don’t mind paying $5 for a coffee once in a while, if it’s stellar. The coffee itself is very good. The preparation was pathetic. Why are there little flecks of coffee grounds floating in the cup? Isn’t that what a coffee filter is for?

rude employees NOT recommended. whoever worked the opening shift on friday august 22nd 2025 are unhelpful and unwilling to help those in need. Witnessed a young man (student) urgently asking to use the bathroom 5 minutes before opening and they refused to acknowledge him. coffee is mediocre, service is disgusting.
Not sure what to say. I waited in line for 20 min and then when it was my turn the lady working the counter just left to make some pour over coffees for 10 min. I waited at the counter for 10 minuets and then walked out. Skip it if you’re in a rush. No parking and long wait. Not an in and out spot.
