The best sesame honey chicken ever. Further more the amount you get for the price is unbelievable

Have ordered here since the old owners. The food prices are the same, don't know why everyone is complaining about the food price. And they are doing special events for dry-fried ribs recently which I recommend personally. The new owners did not change the price and the menus on the board. The food tasted good, it changed a little bit but not in a bad way. They always give me extra as I come here often and are kind.

Whoa! They have fish maw soup! I'm not used to seeing these kinds of ingredients outside of Chinatowns. I was so happy! The salt and pepper tofu was perfect--crispy on the outside and blisteringly hot on the inside. It wasn't too salty, either. The green beans were crunchy and delicious. My kid couldn't get enough of the seafood and tofu soup, which had some of the wispy bits of egg like egg drop soup except, you know, not dyed yellow. Food was copious for the price. Looking forward to going back! Earlier, we had the pan fried noodles as a pick-up order and the person on the phone asked if we'd be eating it right away or if we'd be eating it later, so she'd pack it accordingly. We said we'd be eating it later so she put the sauce into a container separate from the pan fried noodles. This was thoughtful, since it ended up being perfectly crispy with the right amount of chewiness when we put it together later. I really appreciated all the bok choy in the noodles. I'm tired of places that put in a ton of waxy white cabbage and carrots as filler. The number of shrimp wasn't skimpy, and they were juicy and big, not those sad wee ones. I'm looking forward to coming back to try more things! Google "Chinese restaurants 3.5 rule" if you get a chance.

Not so many Chinese restaurants outside Oakland Chinatown that rate a review. Yes, many around UCB campus that crush Chinatown. Ok, Chen's Garden is now on my speed dial. I will order dinner again and would like to dine in. Dining area very clean and many tables for singles or families. I like Chen's Garden, would you update or give them your review? Good appetite

I’ve lived in Berkeley/North Oakland my whole life and had never been to this hidden gem! They were delicious and the food was very fresh especially the garlic green beans. They were seasoned so good and very crunchy. The service was fast as well. Prices are reasonable as well. I’m looking forward to trying something else next time. My order this time included the general Taos chicken fried rice and green beans, salt and pepper fish chow Mein sweet and sour chicken and veggies. Everything was a 10! Coming back soon

Pretty good food. Excellent dry fried ribs and easy access to a side parking lot for pick up or dine in. Lunch special options available or you can just order a variety of meal options. Ownership change be aware.

This is one of those hidden gems. Order off the menu not from the steam tray. Their use of vinegar is masterful. The food here is definitely the best Chinese food in the area

I love this place, come here to grab lunch probably once a week. The garlic green beans are so good, and I enjoy their fried rice and basically all the salt and pepper entrees. Combo meals are extremely competitively priced. Just all around fantastic place.

They have great Tso's and had the best pork fried rice a year ago, this visit it had less flavor but whatever seed oil they use to fry has good character. I'll be back, maybe it was just a bad batch. And it wasn't bad, just lacking.

This is a place you come to for convenience and decent food. It's not one you make a trip from crosstown to eat. The food is cheap and good. I live in the neighborhood and this is the place I go to when I have a craving for Chinese food and don't want to travel far. I usually order the beef chow fun. They have a buffet style display for combination plates. There is seating for Dine-in as well. There isn't much of an atmosphere. It's your hole-in-the-wall kind of decor but it's clean. Street parking is usually available. There has been a change of ownership and the chef as well,l I assume as the beef chow fun is so much better. That's all I've ordered so far.

More then fair prices. Large amount of food for the price! Asian lady who works all the time is amazing and never makes mistakes! If I could find perfect one like her I would be so happy for life! Food is amazing. Please don't waste time... Order the salt and pepper shrimp or the salt and pepper fish! Ask for sweet and sour sauce. You will be most happy!

Not the fanciest. Not the showiest. Only doing take-out since the pandemic. But an extensive menu selection. A friendly, family-owned operation. Delicious food and ample servings. Especially convenient for me, as I reside only a few blocks away. I can either call in an order, or enter it online, and by the time I stroll up there, it's just about ready for me!

It appears to be one of those Chinese restaurants that have been around for a long while, and it has. I ate here previously a few years ago, and it was because of that experience that I decided to have another go. This experience turned out differently because I ordered something other than what I had intended. Because they had Sambal Oelek and soy sauce as condiments, I noticed they had an old favorite on the menu - BBQ Pork with egg over rice. Let's just say that for me, this is a winning combination, and it worked well in this case. Although this dish is common, many places usually don't have sambal oelek, or chili oil, which can liven up any plain dish. Otherwise, this place is a nice, small Chinese restaurant that serves good food.

Been coming here for years and the prices have definitely gone up too high for the portions and quality of the food you receive. Chicken fried rice used to be one of my favorites but it’s skimpy on the egg and veggies and chicken is in huge chunks that needs to be smaller and the same thing for the chow mein. I ordered fried prawns and OMG they were twice fried and was dry and horrible. Basically they didn’t sell them earlier and when I ordered them they fried them again EWWW!! I didn’t notice it till I got home. I’m gonna be looking for me a new Chinese food spot.

The food is bad. Just a bunch of mush and sugar with soy sauce served cafeteria style. I've stepped into this place a couple times since I moved to the neighborhood in 2013. It's consistent anyway. It's not too expensive anyway, but still not worth it.

Very expensive for low quality food left in warmers for hours waiting to be served in very small portions. Also the several members of the family running the restaurant are very rude. They want you hurry up and order take your food and leave. The interior is small and dingy, not cozy or inviting. Its obvious people only come here because its the only Chinese food place within walking distance of the area. Don't waste your time or money for such poor service and small portions of sub par food. You can get much better food and service for a better price for a few minutes extra traveling-to literally ANY other place.
