Lo Coco's Berkeley Reviews
Hands down the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to in the Bay Area. Feels like you’re in Italy between the food and incredible staff (I’m looking at you Christina + Deb)! The pesto Tortelli and the meatballs are 10/10.
The bread is sooooo good!! I got the pesto pasta and it is BOMB!! This place is really good, the waitress was super helpful in explaining dishes too! Super filling too, you can probably share a pasta and then leave room for desert! Or take your leftovers home to reheat, which is what I did :) love Italian food!!
Incredible food and service. Their gnocchi is GF. They were like pillows of heaven. I would eat here all the time if I lived here.
Just a og Italian joint if your born in the bay you’ve probably been to one of their locations at least once. simple delicious and nostalgic 🤙🏽
Fantastic, Authentic, Italian food. Hand-made pastas, delicious sourdough pizza crust, and the Tiramisu is to die for! Bring a small party, as they don't have very many larger tables. There can sometimes be a wait, bit they'll serve you wine while you're waiting :) The staff is also great: friendly, knowledgeable, and fast!
We have been going to this restaurant for decades. It is really good. Seafood dishes are excellent. The sauces are freshly made. The servers, some of them Lococo family, are very good. Pizzas are great. Highly recommended.
The best pasta I’ve ever had. We ordered pappardelle porcini and pappardelle bolognese, and they were both the kind of tasty that makes you feel full and wholesome. Definitely our new go-to for pasta!
OMG.. this place is awesome! I am a Italian food lover and i grew up on the east coast where Italian food is a must you get it right! This place comes so close to that flavor i grew up with pasta is simple but the taste is out of this world, meatballs are a bit small (not happy about that) but the taste is soo good. my number one love is Pizza and that's their specialty! you want good flavor Pizza you need to try Lo Coco's!!!
Not the most trendy place in the East Bay, but without a doubt my favorite pizza. And if you get one of their great Italian meals, prepare to fall in love with their fresh, hot flat bread. Probably the best I've had anywhere.
Seeking fantastic southern Italian foods? This is the place! My 1st time here.. they had newly opened on a Friday, I came in on Saturday back in the 80's... I've been returning ever since. The meatballs are Off the Hook! For sure You will find something you like! No disappointments here!
Very good food from truly Italian host and chef. Service is great too: very attentive people and the owners have a special eye for everybody. Tables may be close to each other but we had a nice experience. It's a lively ambient, with a lot of habitual customers, where you can easily have a conversation at your table. We keep coming for their food and warmth.
With my partner we wanted to have an Italian dinner and we decided to google this place with great reviews and we decided to give it a try it was the best decision we made to have our dinner here. The owner of the place was very attentive and he was watching our table all the time as well as talking with us on different occasions and giving us excellent service. We told him that we were having an anniversary and he himself went to the kitchen and made us a special dish totally free and delicious. We ordered cannelloni and fettuccini with salmon and really nothing was left on our plates really delicious an excellent experience and I could recommend this restaurant a thousand times I really love it and I feel that even though it is a bit far from home I will return much more often because i really love this place. Thank you !!
A neighborhood gem ! This restaurant has definitely improved over the last decade. When you go there now, it's almost always nearly full, and with good reason! The Sicilian meatballs are the best I've ever had in my life. Wonderful service. The only downside is that their dessert options are extremely limited. But usually one has eaten so well that there's no real need....
Just walked in early on a Sunday and boy were we surprised by the delicious food and service. Truly homemade pasta and pizza, focacia was delicious. We'll be returning for sure!
We love going to Lo Coco’s! It’s an incredible experience. While I can rave about the food and service-it wouldn’t communicate the simple joy of being there. The food is tasty without being overwhelming. You leave feeling good!
La Coco provides an exceptional experience with both their staff and food. The warmth and welcoming atmosphere make it feel like home. The ravioli with pesto sauce is a personal favorite, showcasing the delightful flavors that keep me coming back. Highly recommended for a comforting and delicious dining experience.
Just a great family run restaurant that is always good and always consistent.
Been going here for decades, never not had an excellent meal. They must use really high-quality ingredients. Highly recommend a green salad and flatbread, pizza, broiled salmon and linguine. Great service as well.
Great little restaurant in Berkeley. Hands down this was the best fried calamari that I've had. The calamari was tender and not overly breaded. Among our group we also got a variety of pastas. The quality of the pasta was great and the portions were good sized. The pizza is also good with a nice crust, but know that it's a medium thickness.
We really enjoyed the meal 🥘 and service perfect friendly ppl thanks for ur service
Hands down the service is great. I ALWAYS get meat cannelloni with extra marinara and an extra cannelloni on the side. Staff seems to know who I am with that consistent custom order. If you pay cash your bill is a percentage less. Both food and service is pleasing. Keep up the good work!
Amazing food. The friendliest staff. Eat here.
Sasha made me a wonderful Eggplant Parmesan dish with tasty meatballs! He really took care of me. I felt welcome by the staff. It’s more of a family….i will definitely return soon… a mangare! 🍝
Family owned and you can tell by the quality food and service! The family loves bringing good authentic food to their customers and they have a great time while serving their customers. Best place I have ever enjoyed Italian food!
My son said: "The food is perfect and the smell of pizza is great the waiters are so friendly overall the restaurant is perfect."
I’m telling you, this place is THE BEST! I’ve been coming to this location as well as the Piedmont Ave location for years and it never disappoints. During this past year, I’ve probably eaten out here more than any other place. It is always ready on time and hot! I also love that they don’t use plastic containers for takeout. My personal fave is their eggplant parmesan but everything else I’ve tried has been delicious as well! If you haven’t tried, you are missing out!
It was hopping on a Saturday night but we were able to get a table! My eggplant parm was melt in your mouth delicious, and the caprese was also soft and pillowy and served with beautiful tomatoes. Service was friendly and welcoming despite how busy they were, and we heard some loud gesticulating in Italian, adding to the authentic atmosphere! Definitely would come back!
The food here was soo delicious!! We ordered the Ancient Grain Cheese Cannelloni and the Pennoni alla Norma (with Pennoni subbed for a very nice, soft Tagliatelle). The crepes in the Cannelloni were just the right amount of crispy, the Sheep milk ricotta had a very nice unique flavor, and the tomatoes were so well cooked and flavorful. Everything worked together so well! And the eggplant in the Pennoni alla Norma literally melted in your mouth leaving just the flavor of pure eggplant goodness. Paired with a very nice tomato garlicky sauce, and the very soft pasta noodles, it was also a very comforting dish. My girlfriend and I were both very impressed with both dishes! The serving sizes were also enough to leave us very filled after both dishes, and the prices were appropriate for the quality and amount of food. Being vegetarian, I was very happy to see the wide variety of vegetarian options as main entrees on the menu. At many places, I've found that the vegetarian options are basically the non-vegetarian options with meat removed, but the vegetarian options here all felt like very complete and intentional meals designed to be had as is. The service was also phenomenal. Our waitress was very nice and was patient in giving us recommendations. And at the end, one of the other ladies gave us a very passionate and interesting lesson on the history of Sicilian cuisine and how it is influenced by so many different cultures!
Hands down my favorite Italian restaurant in Berkeley. It feels like someone’s Italian Grandma is in the kitchen because this food is made with love. It’s all classic Italian dishes, no frills and super seasonal. All of the pasta is homemade and perfectly cooked. I highly recommend the ravioli con sugo. It’s simple but so comforting and perfectly executed. You honestly can’t go wrong here though. The bread was incredible and the cannoli was perfect. If you have to get only one thing though, get the meatballs. Better yet, get one on your pasta. 🍝 Lococo should be your next stop for a cozy, classic, and quality Italian spot, it’s so good! 🤌
I had thought we went to Lo Coco's to get the Lasagna, because it's the best in Crazy Town! I had to do a favor for my pal Tuba Joe Greenfield...the favor was taking his 40 year old sister, Tootie out to lunch! On a date! Jeez! Why do I always get stuck in the mud! Well, I picked up this gal up in El Cerrito and told her we're going to Lo Coco's Italian Restaurant ..because the Lasagna is Amazing! Anyway...we call Joe, Tuba Joe because he weighs in at about 300 pounds, and I'll tell you what, his sister Tootie is a cool 350 it was all she could muster to get into the truck. We got on our way to Lo Coco's and tells me she's a Vegan! I thought she was joking...she wasn't, and then she started telling me what she expects me to eat while we dine together. Well, I told her straight up..Look, I can take you home or I can drop you off at the feed and grain store and you can get a bale of alfalfa. I took her home, and called Tuba Joe and he laughed for 10 minutes. Anyway...that tubby Tootie had me all spun around and backwards, so much so.. I thought I was at Lo Coco's having Lasagna, and it's a good thing it was such an Amazing Lasagna because it made the day perfect. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆
Best Italian place in Bay Area. KILLER PIZZA.
The food was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and prepared well in right sized proportions. Wonderful Italian wine complemented the food nicely. We enjoyed the tiramisu, its strong flavors, presentation and texture. Surprisingly good! Check it out.
I absolutely loved the pesto ravioli. The sauce and the pasta were both incredibly delicious.
Delicious pasta. This is a great Italian restaurant. My pasta had good chew and was tasty. The service is great. And they have a nice selection of wines.
Top notch Italian cuisine! Hard to go wrong with anything on the menu, but i can vouch for the caprese and penne putanesca. Save room for the tiramisu & cannoli, shown here.

Came here for an early-ish dinner and we were seated right away. Service was a little slow but honestly didn’t mind. We had the pennoni allá norma and tricolore pizza. The absolute best. They definitely start to pick up close to 6ish. Small cozy place but definitely worth it.
Super quaint old school family run restaurant . yummy pizza and a kick-ass pesto with fettuccine…go!
This place is phenominal—a classic, solid Italian-American option within the "Gourmet Ghetto" of Berkeley. The entire place was quite busy, yet the service was gracious and attentive, and our dinner was served promptly without being rushed. There are many different options from pasta to pizza, and there were several from among which I had trouble choosing. I had the tortelli bolognese, and I would have it again tomorrow were I heading back to Berkeley. Just know that when you go, it may be a very popular spot that evening.
Simply great local Italian place. I’ve gone regularly for years and it has only gotten better. The staff are beyond friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, simple and authentic. I’ve eaten Italian from high to low and grew up with an Italian nana. I love Lococo’s. This place never fails.
The restaurant is packed with friendly locals, the staff is a delight, and the food is delicious. Could not recommend this place more. Tell Frank (the amazing owner) that CJ sent you. He doesn’t know who CJ is so maybe over time we could turn this into a running bit.
A favorite place because the food is delicious and authentic, the service Treat, you like family, and the atmosphere is Always lively. They haveGreat vegetarian food. Including their eggplant, Parmesan, and an amazing mushroom pasta. I was there last night, but I’m ordering takeout pizza for the Warriors game tonight.

All in all a very nice experience. The place is not too big and the decor is mostly nondescript. The staff was very friendly and the service was good and efficient. Hot bread and some of the best olive oil to dip it into is worth the visit alone. Food was very good and the portions were just right. We spent about $40 per person so a bit pricey but not too bad.
The food here was excellent. I split one of the medium sized pizzas (If you're a meat lover I definitely recommend Gilberto's, it's all meat) with my uncle and that was more than enough for the both of us. The decor isn't anything special but everything is clean and homely. Our waitress was really sweet and nice and brought us plentiful amounts of bread and water refills. Definitely one of my favorite Italian spots.
Cozy Italian restaurant in North Berkeley with great service! There was a good selection of pizzas, salads, and pastas. The interior is on the smaller side with a cozy feel. My friend and I ordered a combo pizza and the norma pasta to share and we both had enough left over to take home. Didn’t feel like it was especially unique or a “wow” factor, however.
The pizza is pretty bready, so the personal size is a lot. It's pretty decent pizza.

It's good food but I wasn't wowed by it. The atmosphere is cozy (if not too cozy) and a bit loud. The speciality pizza with eggplant was tasty but not great. The crust felt a but too charred and dry. Similarly, the house bread was chewy but tasty. Many buts but overall a good meal.
Decent and edible. But not enough to return. Staff seemed nice.
