Mehak Berkeley Reviews
I'm glad I discovered Mehak Indian Cuisine, the home of Indian curries and breads cooks and serves flavorful sauces and Tandoori dishes. The quantity was plentiful and fresh. The prices were excellent for a dinner for two.
This was a random visit at this restaurant while visiting Berkeley, and i had few friends for the lunch. This is by far a restaurant to refrain visiting from in terms of their food which ironically is what people look forward to in a restaurant. Owners of Mehak restaurant doesn't seem to get this simple concept of good food. Its a absolute disgrace from a Indian diaspora perspective to see a restaurant selling food under the disguise of authentic Indian food. . People who seem be raving good reviews about this mehak restaurant, clearly haven't tasted real Indian food . its a blissful experience if one visits the right place. The food we ordered had loads of coloring , salty and absolutely bland.Even a seemingly ordinary restaurant by the side of a non de-script road in India would serve way better food than at Mehak restaurant. I am not writing this review under any prejudice, its just that i felt compelled after my experience to advise people to avoid such carcino genic (the colors used ) food for their own health and also this is nowhere close to authentic Indian Food.
We found it while hungover and are regular customers going on 3 years now. I've had their Tiki Massala in Lamb, Chicken, Chicken & Prawns served with Garlic & Cheese Naan. As if that's not enough to fall in love with, but their Samosas are just as delicious too. Guarantee you will leave satisfied. Customer Service is absolutely A1 Elite treatment. You'd want to tip BIG.

More curry variety than I'm used to, really well spiced. This is my go-too in Berkeley for Indian food. I think they also make their chai fresh, it took forever but was delicious. They also independently do local delivery which is really cool in the era of Doordash. I live down the street and my friends and I love to order it for dinner parties.
Really good food! More variety than some Indian restaurants. Very friendly staff.
Very good chicken tikka masala and garlic naan . Perfectly cooked rice 🍚 . Very Friendly staff seems to be family owned .
Service was quick. Food was very good. Prices are quite reasonable and incude rice. They are also very generous with the appetizers and bread. 2 people can eat lunch here for around $30 including tax and tip which is very reasonable these days.
The Chicken Tikka Masala is delicious & creamy, and the naan is fluffy! Great food!
Tried them through Too Good To Go a few times when I was in Berkeley. Their food is fantastic. Wishing them all the best
The food is fantastic. Good serving sizes. Highly recommend
The best curries ever! Perfectly seasoned and spiced. I've had their vegetarian curries and chicken tikki masala, and is some of the best I've tasted. I've only ever gotten take out, but excited to bring friends for lunch or dinner. Very kind staff. Cozy atmosphere. I ordered take-out one evening, it was so good that I gone back the next evening to try other items, it was THAT DELICIOUS. Go and check them out!
I have been enjoying Mehak for over a year now. Since moving to the east bay I hadn't found an Indian restaurant in my area that makes butter chicken/chicken Mehkani the way I learned to love it until Mehak. This is my favorite dish and theirs is fantastic. We also enjoy the saag paneer and chana masala. The naan is delicious and such a good value that the curry comes with the rice. Also have tried the mango lassi and kheer and enjoyed both! Best kheer I'd had in ages. Will continue to come back. Found through tgtg and go about once a month.
If you are looking for a take-out/old school joint sort of place that always hits the spot come to Mehak. I started eating here 20 years ago, and it's only gotten better. TGTG folks- the deal rocks, generous portions and it's actually a complete meal. The dishes are consistent, hearty, rich and the naan is so delicious. The tikka masala is perfectly nostalgic, the saag lamb and saag paneer are fantastic, the malai kofta is one of my favorites of all time and the roasted eggplant curry (bahgain bartah?) lives in my dreams. The people who run this place are fantastic, and it's always clean and relaxed inside.
Consistently yummy & healthy food. I used to eat in the restaurant when I moved to Berkeley 13 years ago but have lived in Oakland for the last 10 & still get it delivered

Great lunch buffet, as always. Chicken was the only non-veg - I miss lamb and goat.

Excellent Indian Regional cuisine, with some Next Level Naan, in a quiet atmosphere, (or at least quiet for its location) I ordered the chicken Malai, garlic naan, and mango lassi. I tend to like creamy curries like koorma, but I am also ilevro spicy food, so I ordered it spicy and it was perfectly seasoned and delicious. I also appreciate how they serve it in little brass bowls , so that I can dole it out on to my plate as I see fit. But the real news here is the Naan. They make some truly high-quality Naan here, crispy and delicious on the top, with the Ghee baked in, and the mango lassi was surprisingly fresh. I would give them 5 stars, but they need to get their bathroom together. All in all highly recommended, delicious food

I really love the samosas here. They're extra crunchy and stuffed with savory potatoes and peas! The tamarind sauce just takes it over the top. I also had the chicken take a masala. The sauce was good, but the dish was just okay overall because the meat was bone dry and had no flavor. My suggestion to the restaurant would be switch to thigh meat. It is almost always going to be more tender and flavorful. The rice was also a rather bland and I didn't get even a hint of cardamom. I'll probably try it again in a couple of months.
The rice was good nothing special but the tikka masala and nan was delicious. I’ll definitely be stopping by again! Oh and the prices makes it even that much better!

Great for vegetarians, of course. Food is not bad, not the best you can get, but good and generous servings too. I actually think the food quality has improved some over the past few years. Service has always been quite friendly. The room has been upgraded a bit, but could use a little more spiffing up. These folks deserve your business. You won't be disappointed.
I don't know what the hype is about. The rice wasn't fresh. It was dry also the chicken curry was nothing special. The chicken was ridiculously dry. The nanh was fine. Very odd too see such high reviews on yelp and Google.

Bought chicken curry , found a roach half way through eating. Not sure how many more were in meal. Highly disgusted. Very dissatisfied , please check your food before eating here.
I was thoroughly disappointed to receive a watery and yellowish chicken tikka masala. In addition, the plain naan I ordered was instead fried layered paratha garlic. I ended up throwing the food away as it didn’t taste right.
