Frequently asked questions about Noodles Fresh
Noodles Fresh Berkeley Reviews
Sat down and had food in front of me literally within 5 minutes - I came on a weekday late afternoon so definitely not typical meal times, but WOW that was fast and delicious. Lots of vegetarian options, my soup was delicious + I was there at the right time for lunch happy hour prices!
Noodles was definitely made fresh. I ordered the Dian Dian noodles, totally hit the spot, love the sauce! Tea is delish and authentic. The porcelain are beautiful! There’s also a welcoming charm about this place. It’s a husband and wife team where the husband manages this location and he’s friendly, and seems so nice! Prices are super reasonable too so it’s great!
My girlfriend and I came at around 4pm, and were greeted by a very calming atmosphere inside. The ceiling is high, the piano jazz is not too loud, and the open kitchen format makes the whole place feel a little more lively. It was a cool experience to watch our food being made from the other side of the restaurant. Made the whole place feel pretty classy, but not inaccessible. We ordered the Hainan Chicken and Jiang-de noodles, and they arrived within 8 minutes of ordering. Both were quite tasty without being too salty (salty is a common criticism I have for Chinese restaurants around Berkeley, but not this one). In the Jiang-de noodles, the bitterness of the cabbage cuts through the sweetness the bell peppers and sauce contain, and the chicken is not dry at all, while the whole dish strikes a good balance with its spiciness. I’d highly recommend the Hainan chicken. I’ve been craving a place around Berkeley that can make it well, and I noticed that this place has an $8.95 lunch special for the hainan as well (M-F 11:00-2:30ish), which is a great deal for Downtown Berkeley. If you’re a student and looking for a good date spot without breaking your wallet, I’d also say this is a good bet (:
I visited Noodle Fresh Chinese Restaurant in July along with my sister and life hasn't been the same! The ambiance was so peaceful and the decor was very charming and culturally authentic. We were graciously greeted and the service was nice. I ordered a house specialty Jiangxi noodle salad F***** -GFA Rice noodle with chicken, seafood-flavored chili sauce, bok choy, bell pepper, garlic & scallion, serve warm. I added house made chili sauce and soy sauce as desired, very wise. In a word 'divine'! Perfectly seasoned allowing each ingredient to speak with its own essence, simple yet elegant and absolutely unforgettable. It was beautifully presented and importantly not salty. I experienced way more than expected. You'd be wise to visit and prepare for a bountiful meal, regardless of your menu choice.
I had an amazing meal at Noodles Fresh in Berkeley! Their vegetable noodle dish was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The noodles had a great texture, the veggies were vibrant and crisp, and the seasoning was spot on. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Beyond the food, the service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.
Amazing place. My server was Kennith and he was such an amazing person. He seems so genuine and gave us some good recommendations for next time. I will definitely be coming back here for more amazing food and service!
Really tasty, flavorful, and fresh! My Chinese mama is a regular here and she got me hooked. Some favorites are the cumin lamb and beef tendon noodle soup. Yumm yumm yumm! The lunch special is a good deal and all portions are very generous!
We took our family here and absolutely loved it!! Sweet and sour chicken was amazing the fry on it was thin and crunchy, rice was perfectly cooked as well. The salt&pepper wings were fantastic and the spring rolls were just as great! The chicken and beef stir fry was really good, such great veggies. Our server was kind and happy to pay great attention to us. Couldn’t have had a better experience.
Went in last night and the food was amazing. Had the Taiwan beef soup, pot stickers, and skirt steak and everything came out quick and tasty. Prices were very reasonable and staff was attentive and friendly. Will definitely be going back.
Noodles Fresh is hands down one of my favorite restaurants in the east bay. Their food is always delicious, consistent, amazing, and FRESH. I love the addition of the Berkeley location, the food upholds the same quality and care as the El Cerrito location (in the best way possible).
I really like this place. With so many mediocre Chinese restaurants in town, it's nice to see that the folks who run this place are trying just a bit harder and making meals that feel special. I've been there about five times and i have ordered differently every time and everything has been great.
I really like the soups here, specifically the seafood soup. I don't get much else. The broth is flavorful but light, and there's a really nice variety of seafood in it. Their house tea is also worth asking for, I think it's some sort of red, not exactly sure, but it's very nice. The pot stickers aren't worth getting, though. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for a big bowl of authentic Asian noodle soup in a calm atmosphere.
This is my go to spot when I don’t feel like cooking. Always quick and polite service. Love the atmosphere of the Shattuck location and love how they package to go orders so neatly and separate so everything is fresh when you do take out soup. I usually get the jiangxi noodles but I love the fish soup and the scallion pancake is always a nice treat.
Noodles Fresh is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant in Berkeley. It's never very crowded when I go, which is a pity because they deserve more business. They have a good selection of vegetarian/vegan options. Try the vegetarian goose-- I'd never had anything like it before, but it is extremely savory and well balanced. The lunch special is extremely high value for the money: a large bowl of noodle soup for only 10.95 (12.40 after tax). I've tried the Shanghai double happiness and the chili fish (veg option subs tofu). They're both delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also nice. I love looking at all the teapots and teacups on the walls
The Best taiwanese beef soup! Everything on the menu is delicious & fresh made! The rose tea is my favorite. Great service atmosphere family owned!
Gourmet Healthy Chinese food from Wenyan & Tom Petersen and their master chefs - now in 3 locations. I go back again and again when I'm in town. Tom plays cool jazz in El Cerrito Noodles Fresh. Last night at their Berkeley Downton location I had one of my favorite vegetable dishes "Half Half" with Garlic + Brown Rice and good hot tea. Wenyan also offers connoisseur High Mountain Chinese Tea served traditionally. Highly reccomend! JH *NOTE: tasty Tofu from Wok can be added to any dish for only $2 #gourmet #noodles #healthyfood #chineserestaurant #teahouse
Very authentic Chinese noodles! The rice noodles are the BEST! Great vibe and nice service. Thank you!
Love the beef tendon dish! Very tasty with wonderful textures. Great lunch deal and great service. All of this for basically just over $12!
Overall great Chinese food in Berkeley for an okay price. Really like the Taiwan beef noodle soup and jiangxi noodle salad. Everything came out as expected. Good service, clean plating, plenty of seating. Scallion pancakes were really disappointing though; very little actual scallions in them.
Got the Taiwan beef noodle soup, it was amazing. I was also shocked at the time of service. I think I waited 2-3 minutes after ordering before they brought my soup. Service is very quick and the food is so flavorful
I came here during my lunch break one afternoon. The salt and pepper (appetizer) chicken wings are good as well as the vegetarian dumplings (the latter especially with dipping sauce). My beef and noodle dish had very thin strips of meat, and the flavoring of the nuts in the dish is absolutely tasty. The dishes didn’t take a long time to come out, and I loved pouring their black tea with the ceramic teapot. The restaurant has a nice design, with teapots hanging on the wall for a (occasional) fountain, and a tv to watch muted sports (women's tennis when I was there). You can tell there are a lot of regular/loyal customers, so they’re seeming satisfied, and I love that their are lots of options on the menu for any persons’ preferences.
My mother and I ate here today for lunch. The service was nice and the food was good. The curry chicken noodle soup is less than $15 dollars and we split it, and I still have the leftovers for about two meals. Definitely worth the price! I enjoyed the potstickers too. I didn't find the chili oil spicy but I enjoyed the taste (this may be because I have too high of a spice tolerance?). A man sitting next to us had the chili fish noodle soup and that looked very nice too. The waitress was nice and diligently refilled our waters, the entire restaurant was clean and is a quaint space. Would definitely recommend.
Really tasty noodles and Hainan chicken !! Super fast and attentive service, classy and relaxing environment, and most importantly great flavor. The prices are just right for the area. Really happy with everything we got. The matching uniforms, abundance of beautiful flowers, and decor are all so cute and show attention to detail. Can't wait to come back to try more dishes 🥰
Wow, my first time visiting the Oakland/Berkley area and Noodles Fresh surprised me. Waiters were amazing and accommodating and I enjoyed eating my meal while looking at the well set kitchen, while listening to great ambient music. Their Mongolian Beef dish was awesome. Succulent and just the right amount of saltiness. Recommend ordering a side of rice with it. Also, highly recommend that you order their fermented cabbage. Basically Chinese Kimchi. Spicy and salty. Great combo with beer!
Loved it! I had Jiangxi stir fry, and the food was very good. I very much like the interior design, combining Asian elements with industrial styling. Service was excellent and the food came very fast.

Ordered the pork belly which was lovely, tender and nicely presented. My colleague also enjoyed their food. Good size portions and often enough for a takeaway.
WOW. Top notch Taiwanese Beef Noodles. The only that really tastes authentic I’ve seen so far in California. The service is great, warm. She’s like a nice caring mother.
Had dinner with friends at Noodle Fresh tonight in a private room, and it was such a nice experience. The dishes were honestly impressive. Each one felt carefully thought out, with flavors I haven’t come across anywhere else. What I liked most was how every dish looked like a small piece of art, but nothing felt overdone. You could tell the owner really puts effort into designing the menu, and the flavors were all different yet balanced. It’s the kind of place where you remember each dish because it’s not just another plate of noodles or dumplings. If you’re looking for something that feels special but still comforting, I’d recommend trying Noodle Fresh.
The Fresh Noodle was amazing per my two grandsons who are 5 & 8 years old. I must agree with them. Their portions was the perfect amount for us three together. The service was impeccable. Our server was very patient and very knowledgeable about how the food pairing as well. Thank God we stumbled up on this place. This is a new go to for us when in Berkeley. Oh, yeah the parking was free too.
I posted but on the wrong location. I ordered pick up and the food was delicious. So many items that reminded me of my ma's cooking that I hadn't seen on other menus. For example the hainan chicken, so tender and perfectly seasoned! And the black bean sauce noodles (although it was missing the scrambled egg strips, don't forget to order that extra and I would also add some more noodles as they don't scrimp on the sauce). The shrimp was plentiful and tender! Dandan noodles divine. The fresh vegetables were combo of baby bok choy and broccoli and perfectly stir fried. The only negative was a flaw in their texting system so I thought that my order was ready 30 min earlier than what I put for pick up. Also instead of the Hong Kong pork chop we got a steak dish which was incredibly delicious and tender but will need to go back to order that. Overall very pleased and it is my new go to Chinese restaurant. I am just sad I didn't find it earlier. And more affordable with larger servings than other places. Please support this restaurant as I want it to stay in Berkeley for a long long time!

Big spacious place, the noodles are delicious snd flavorful. The Mongolian beef is super tender. The portions are good sized but I did think that 5 wings is very little for an appetizer order. The wings are crispy and good.
Lovely place - very accessible and easy to find right on Shattuck. Place is nice and spacious and very clean. Service is friendly and very quick. We shared onion pancake which was nice and crispy, chicken homemade rice noodle soup and beef tips thick noodle soup. Everything was delicious but the beef dish stood out. Our 4 years old also enjoyed the soups and especially the crispy onion pancake. Will definitely be back when around the area :)

food was alright, didn't taste very fresh, noodles and soup were disappointing. the price is low so if you're looking for a cheap meal this will definitely fit the bill. The day I went the service was a bit slammed, so everything took a very long time. I didn't reflect this in my rating though, cause a lot of places seem this way right now.
poor service let me down. don't need condescending staff and have to pay for the food. the is so so probably good for the palate in the area. I was let down by the service, I normally get take out and go back to work at Sutter. maybe dining in was a mistake
I got the Hainan Chicken and it was dry and flavorless; rice was similarly flavorless. I ordered it because I saw other people really liked it, but it was unfortunately disappointing. I can't recommend the Hainan chicken. Atmosphere is okay, server was nice. My friend enjoyed their lamb noodle soup.
Absolutely disgusting. What happened to this place? Food was inedible. Stopped my meal to write in. There's one wait staff. Totally uncoordinated and unsupported by the restaurant. Chef can be heard yelling. Music is opewssive and there's zero lighting. It's also the stalest air I've ever experienced in a restaurant. We paid. Left and tossed 90 of our leftovers. Would not give this to anyone in need as the food featured raw gristly meats. Really sad to see this place fail.
The food tasted good, but they served in a plastic take out bowl even it was a dine in. Super hot soup was poured into a plastic bowl. That is a no no. The food displayed on the photos and TV screen in the dining area looks way better than what you get. There is barely any service. No greetings or anything.
Worst noodle restaurant I have ever been. Period. Go to Ippudo. The difference is heaven and earth in every regard, from food quality to service. There is no service by the way at Noodle Fresh. It’s a rip off of poor students.
This is the most flavorless Asian food I've ever had. We had 2 plates and everything just tasted like oil. We ordered to have it delivered to a hotel and they gave us no sauces, no napkins, no silverware. The food was not even edible.
Ordered wonton soup. Wontons were filled with shrimp. We’ve never had wontons with shrimp inside. Unfortunately my husband is allergic. Luckily, we have an EpiPen for this type of thing. I suggest the menus include basic ingredients, so customers don’t have to go to the hospital due to food allergies
The server I met today was incredibly unprofessional. She behaved impatiently and spoke to me in a loud voice - Could you please practice to speak to people in a calm and polite manner? The food was not satisfactory, and I will not visit again
Updating this review: about 30 min later I feel awful. Don’t want to TMI but really messed up my stomach Got the hunan sweet and sour. Really subpar, and only 3 pieces of tofu in the whole soup :/ Seasonal vegetables were super boring
