Had dinner here with some friends, and it did not disappoint! It’s one of my friend’s favorite spots, and now I see why. We shared the spicy chicken, sour pickled fish, garlic shrimp with rice and vermicelli, and garlic green beans! Every dish was packed with flavor. The staff were incredibly friendly and fun; we found ourselves laughing and chatting with them throughout the meal. Great food, great vibes. Definitely coming back!

I have been here for three times and it tastes really nice. The grilled fish is highly recommended, and their service is also very nice. Last time we brought our moon cake here to celebrate the mid autumn festival, and they even helped us to cut the cake! Highly recommended

After re-opening at this new location, Easterly has become our new go-to when we've wanted a great meal. Our favorite is always the perilla leaf boiling fish 紫苏水煮鱼 which is super flavorful and comes with big portions. Also, another new item to this location are the scallion pancakes, which are honestly some of the best we've ever had. Dishes can be made not spicy, which is a nice option, and portions are generous—we had enough leftovers for another meal. The place has been busy each time we’ve gone, but the new location is more spacious and easier to find parking than the previous one, which makes for a more comfortable experience overall. Also the staff is super friendly and helpful. I really appreciated their attention to detail when they helped us pack and with the sturdy takeout containers that they provided for our leftovers. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for group outings.

The food is really good. But spicy level may need to get extra spicy. Service is great too, very friendly. Highly recommend the eggplant and intestine!

We had a fabulous Hunanese meal here. Highly recommend the: - Spicy Roasted Fish - Sour Mustard fish - Green Beans - Eggplant with minced pork and Garlic Service was great and we ordered via IPad which was convenient

Ate here with a group of friends after their grand re-opening - the staff is so friendly, the food came out quick and all photo ready, and was 5/5 taste. I really enjoyed the wide spread of flavors and will definitely be coming back! Great for a big party if you want to try a bunch of dishes. Surprising bonus was the coconut chicken where they used fresh coconut juice as their broth - so unique and delicious!

Delicious food and great ambience! The portion size was huge too! I recommend the classic spicy roasted fish. It was spicy and flavorful with tender fish fillets and fresh veggies.

Best meal ever! We occasionally ran into this restaurant and we all agreed that this is the best restaurant in downtown Berkeley. The coconut chicken and mushrooms are so good. Definitely will come again!

Amazing food that taste the same as the ones in Hunan China at affordable prices what more could you want. I just wish they offered more food like the hot and sour shredded potato’s .

Easterly is excellent. The 辣子鸡 is rich with all the right aromatics, the chicken is not drowning in batter or breading, and the 花椒 comes through nicely. The 丝瓜 is cooked to perfection, as is the cod in the perilla fish stew. Speaking of the stew, it might just be my new favorite dish. The perilla adds a refreshing herbal note to the rich broth and the fish is extremely tender and juicy. We also had the stinky tofu, which is the first I've been able to find in the bay area. The signature aroma of stinky tofu is there and it's very tasty, but it is quite light. To be fair, you probably won't get much stinkier in an indoor restaurant. Overall excellent food and very much worth the trip over the bridge!

Phenomenal, authentic Chinese. Flavors were incredible! The most notable dishes were the green beans and the stewed pork belly. Great family style meal, went with 4 other friends and spent 45 bucks a person- but left absolutely stuffed.

Amazing food with rich flavors. Portion could be larger though. Fast and attentive service. We got the chilli chicken and braised pork belly and they were both a good choice.

I love the authenticity of the restaurant and the interior is very spacious. Great for large gatherings but also valid for a couple. Portions are huge and very convenient for sharing. The beans were so flavorful and was a great side for the chicken. The chicken was also crunchy and had a sweet but spicy sauce. Medium spice is an appropriate level for a solid kick.

Classic Chinese fare with nice decor and fast and kind service. They have many different food options, but I didn't feel like there were any truly stand out dishes.

Excellent food, even relatively plebian fare like fried rice was a step well above, and the have some unique specialty dishes I'd never eaten. Expensive, but worth it. Hated electronic ordering, and it wasn't clear hot tea was a thing you could get on a cold Christmas night, but I'd go back.

The food was good, but the service was really bad because of one guy. He didn’t talk, just nodded his head, and didn’t do anything we asked. His attitude was terrible. We asked him to make it low salt, but he ignored it.

The service at this restaurant was very poor. The staff wore masks the entire time and were unwilling to speak, communicating with guests only through eye contact and hand gestures. They didn’t announce the dishes when serving them. The food itself was mediocre, and the ingredients didn’t feel fresh or match the descriptions on the menu (for example, the so-called “free-range chicken”). I really don’t understand why the reviews are so high.

The pork belly was extremely tough and poorly seasoned. Overall, the dish was disappointing, and I won’t be returning.

Scallion pancake is horrible. Too hard and oily. Gave feedback to waiter and he continues charge for terrible uneaten dish. Fish and stir fry beef were fine. Service ok.

Found two pieces of hair in grill fish. Waitress was very rude, trying to enforce tip and gave us a disrespectful tone when we told her about the hair.

Big no for the hygiene. We got a dead fly in our dojo The taste wasn't authentic , the raw materials seem to be sourced from cheap outlets
