Tacubaya Berkeley Reviews
Delicious, fun, easy access- large space. We, of all ages, have many favorites on the menu. The beef enchiladas call to us. Unusual chili rellenos. All good.
I always get the torta vegetariana. It’s great. I also got a latte today which I enjoyed. Would recommend!
This place – people, food, flavor, service, warmth, love, and oh, did i say people? – is a like a dream! Every bite is a delight!
The on line ordering is SO good. I've never had so many choices for adds/drops and it makes it really really nice to get exactly what you want. Thank you Tacubaya. I'm sure it's a hassle for you, but it's a dream for us. :)
Perfect Spot for Groups and Families! Tacubaya is hands down one of the best places to gather with friends or family. Their red and green chilaquiles are out of this world—perfectly sauced with just the right crunch. The refried black beans are flawless, creamy, and packed with flavor. And their homemade tortillas? Pure perfection—fresh, warm, and a must-have with any meal. The casual, welcoming atmosphere makes it easy to enjoy great food and conversation, whether you’re with a big group or just your family. Everyone always leaves happy and full. Highly recommend for delicious Mexican food and a great time!
Delicious and innovative gourmet Mexican food, served in a bright and cheery atmosphere. We had their asparagus and goat cheese quesadillas, which were absolutely amazing, though you might want to pair them with something else to round out a full meal. We loved the bright secondary colors and rounded architectural features. It's also about half the price of other restaurants on Fourth Street. Highly recommended.
My family of three agree on 5 stars. We ordered al pastor tacos and carne asada tacos which were both flavorful and they were nice portions. My six year old ordered quesadillas and she loved the housemade tortillas and gooey cheese. The churros were lovely and had the perfect texture and finish to our meal. The space is beautifully colorful, large and open, we had the 2nd floor to ourselves.
Wow! The torta I got was delicious! I would gladly drill a few more holes in my belt to make room for more of those. I wish I worked close by.
service wasn’t the best as the bartender was a bit rude and the waiters a little slow. the meal was lovely however PLEASE stop putting spinach in the sopa de tortilla— I’ve eaten this all over Mexico and have never had it with spinach, it’s not traditional and takes away from the smoothness of the dish.
We tried this place on a Tuesday afternoon. It wasn’t busy at all and we sat outside on the patio. The food arrived relatively quickly and tasted pretty good. I ordered the chicken tacos ($5 each) and my partner ordered the chicken enchiladas with a beer. My tacos were really wet and I couldn’t tell if it was grease or if the chicken was just really juicy. Had good flavor otherwise. Overall, I enjoyed eating here.
This was a very enjoyable place to have a family dinner. The coffee tasted great, it was a nice atmosphere and the food was good. We ordered the enchiladas, torta and the chorizo sope. The enchiladas were ok I’ve definitely had better enchiladas. The torta was really good, a little dry but delicious. The sope was really really good if you love chorizo.
I would have provided a higher rating on the food if the al pastor in my taco had not been cold to lukewarm. Disappointing as I had not been in the Bay Area since June. My sister had the same issue with her taco as well. Otherwise, the relleno was excellent as usual.
The location is great, and the servers are fine, but the carnitas tacos and the burritos are uninspiring. Too soft/wet/mushy and expensive. You might try the other items on their menu like the tortilla soup.
Food is excellent but the girls behind the bar act as if you’re Charles Manson when it comes to ordering what i must say are most tasty Mezcal Margaritas. Come on girls, its OK to smile and show a little personality. It can’t be that bad. The thing is its a discernible pattern; numerous visits are the same over the course of many months.
I ordered 4 tacos 3 steak And one chicken. The Steak was decent. I'd recommend it over the chicken for sure. Good amount of meat $5 per taco. But the chicken wasn't seasoned well or at all. It looked to be boiled.very spacious place. Upstairs and downstairs with outdoor seating as well. Also vegetarian options .
Worst Burrito I’ve ever had. Rice was undercooked, lacked flavor, and they used plain pulled chicken instead of grilled chicken! There was no taste at all!!! I couldn’t finish it and ordered from another place. I have no idea why this place was full! Maybe other items on the menu are better tasting? One star for the nice workers.
I’m so sorry but these were the worst tacos I’ve ever had in my life. Not only so expensive ($14 for small TWO tacos?…), but idk what seasoning they used, but it was not good. My steak taco was such a weird cut of steak and weirdly seasoned. My Al pastor legitimately tasted like fish. I ate them bc I felt bad for wasting $14, but that was a mistake because I felt extremely queasy on the way home. Genuinely astonishingly unpleasant to eat, please just go to a local taco truck!!
