The Fish Market Restaurant Birmingham Reviews
Wanted to give a shout out to the wonderful wine dinner last night. Food was delicious and the wine pairings spot on. Great time and Bryan was an awsome server who made sure everything moved smoothly. Looking forward to our next visit!
Our family has been dining at The Fish Market since they opened in 2004. George Sarris built this wonderful resturant and brought his delicious Greek dishes to the Shelby County community. We have shared numerous birthday and special occasions with all our children and friends and we continue our family tradition at The Fish Market with our grandchildren. The food is always delicious, cooked to perfection. The service is fast. They offer a wide selection of wine and desserts. The dining room is quite spacious with ample parking. By far, one of the top restaurants located conveniently on Hwy 280.
Our first time here. Fabulous food. Great service. Overly generous portions and choices. Supposedly very crowded almost always, but on Iron Bowl day, it was quiet and we got to visit with our friends very leisurely.
Great Food. No wait time. Enough options that it makes it hard for you to quickly order. Something for everyone from the kids to the grandparents you will not be disappointed. Our appetizers were perfect. Our entrees were prepared exactly as ordered. We will definitely be back again
Great menu selection. Waitress was really nice and attentive. The food was good but the snapper Reuben sandwich really should be on different bread. Seemed strange to be wheat bread and got completely soggy by the time it even got to the table. Frog legs were really good! Really good pricing for a seafood restaurant.
First and foremost, Clarice was a phenomenal server. She made sure we had everything we needed and answered all of our questions about what to eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The flavor of the food was terrific. We had mussels, seafood gumbo, grouper, mahi-mahi and it was better than we've ever tasted. The Greek spices really put the finishing touches on it. The baklava was amazingly good! When we're in town, we'll definitely go back.
We’ve been planning to eat here for the longest but we live in Huntsville and is 2 hours away drive. Since I was flying the next day through Birmingham Airport , we decided to finally go. The restaurant is so fancy, atmosphere was perfect, Jana was our server and she was very attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, the restaurant history and she was very friendly, thanks Jana for make our experience unique! We’ve ordered as appetizer Calamari, they were lightly battered and they were perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious and their Tartar sauce as well. The Entrees we’ve ordered was 1 SMALL PLATTER Fried SNAPPER, SHRIMP (2), SCALLOPS (1), & OYSTERS (2)- we substitute the oyster for scallops and 1 BLACKENED GROUPER, SHRIMP (2), SCALLOPS (1), & OYSTERS (2) we substitute the oyster for scallops. This comes with the choice of salad or 2 veggies and 2 hush puppies. Even though everything was delicious but it needs a little bit of more salt. That’s my only critique! We were so full that we couldn’t finish it, so no room for dessert. After we ate we’ve walked around their Fresh fish display and the dessert display too. We will definitely go back. Hopefully y’all decide to open another restaurant in Huntsville, especially in the Winchester Road area.
Went for lunch today with a large group. The service was on point and the food was delicious as always. The portions are more than expected and everything came out in a timely manner. This is always a great choice whenever you might be in the mood for seafood. Thank you Fish Market for another great experience.
Beautiful and flavorful. Went with a group of close to 40, and the staff were on top of their game! We were in a private area and had a set menu with several choices of entrées to choose from. We had a great time. I had the tilapia, and it was perfect. It was served family style with green beans and potatoes. We also had salad, hush puppies, and bread. Everything was truly delightful, and the ambiance was wonderful. I would love to return if in Birmingham again.
Indulge in a culinary delight of fresh seafood and refreshing drinks at this remarkable establishment! With a delightful fusion of flavors, many dishes here are inspired by the richness of Greek cuisine. As avid patrons, we have frequented this restaurant countless times, and without fail, the food has always exceeded our expectations. Prepare to be consistently amazed by the delectable offerings that await you at this exceptional dining destination!
We usually go here for special occasions. Today we came here for my mother-in-law’s birthday. I like either the shrimp and grits or the seared tuna. Today my wife and kids got shrimp & grits and I go the seared Tuna. It was so good! It’s sushi grade meaning nearly raw so I wouldn’t order it unless you like sushi. Shrimp and grits was good as always!
Good local seafood restaurant with multiple locations around the Birmingham area. Many of the dishes on the menu are either Greek- or Cajun-inspired. At dinner on a Saturday evening they were fairly busy--15 minute wait for a table, and the place had a buzzing atmosphere (though those who prefer it quieter would call it loud). Staff and kitchen were very busy, and service was slower than we would have liked, though not horribly so. We ordered the Cajun grilled swordfish special w/ fries & fried pickles and coconut shrimp w/ green beans & alfredo pasta. Both also came with hushpuppies. Though the hushpuppies were over-fried and the green beans mediocre, the shrimp, fries, and pasta were good, and the swordfish and fried pickles were great! While you can't find it online, they do have an extensive dessert menu of pies, cakes, cheesecakes, cookies, and more. We ordered a slice of key lime pie and a slice of Italian cream cake; both were excellent. Prices are not listed on their menu, but each of these was $5.
This was our first time at this location. There’s also one in Hoover. I prefer this location, the ambience was nicer. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean, large, and spacious. Today we ordered the Caribbean Salmon with rice and potatoes, it also came with two hush puppies, the wagyu burger with fries, and the fish tacos. The food was delicious. There are many choices on the menu, almost overwhelming, but I did love the options! I already know what I want to order next time. Highly recommended. Good for date nights too.
Great place for good seafood. Fried oysters I had as an appetizer were AWESOME....so fresh. The lobster soup had a little too much sherry (a little goes a long way) but it good anyway. Wife had the NE clam chowder and it was different that we've had before (I think it might have been oregano or thyme we can't remember) but it was quite well done. Hush puppies could be a meal themselves...yum. The fish and chips was excellent although better if the fries were hot. One thing that was really impressive was the wait-staff had a team approach. Serving, bussing, refilling, no matter what it was, it seemed they all were working together to make your experience better.
Not impressed. The food was cooked well but very little flavor. The chicken Alfredo had no flavor and the shrimp scampi had almost no garlic. The "butter" for the lobster did not taste like butter, it was mixed with oil or it was oil. Raw oysters were great so were the vegetables and service.
I am so sad to be so disappointed. The seasoning was good on most things but all of our seafood was dry or rubbery. It wasn't very busy but when we got our food everything served was barely tepid. I did enjoy the okra and hushpuppies. However, the overall meal was quite unsatisfactory.
We ordered gumbo, flounder, snapper, oysters, fries, cabbage and fried green tomatoes. The gumbo get 3 stars, the cabbage 5 stars….everything else ZERO stars. The absolutely most bland food ever. Our server was great! The manager came over at the very last minute to check with us.
