This place is fantastic! They have very good coffee (chai is only ok) and so many foods to choose from. They have a whole selection of to go food that is made daily and really really good. They also have a full menu for when you have a bit more time. I like to work around this area before I go to the Psycadelic Assembly and this place is perfect for that. Wi-Fi is reliable, it’s relatively quiet and service is super friendly. 10/10 worth a stop.

Just wrapped up a great breakfast and delicious dirty chai latte. But I’m here to rave about the service, specifically Gabriel. He was the kindest person, and very tentative to our needs.

Went here with my friends on Valentine's day. It does have a dine-in option even though that it not listed. My friends were happy that it was light fare. The waiter was attentive and funny. I wanted to share a funny moment that happened. I was enjoying the way the waiter looked since he probably works out. Its a nice addition to the environment. As I was leaving, he stepped back into me, and we just held each others arms for stability. I refused to look at him because this meet cute did not have to be a love story on Valentine's day. LOL.

My husband and I visited NYC (from Toronto) for a few days and stayed around the corner from this place. We stopped at this Le Pain Quotidien every single day. Great atmosphere and delicious pastries and coffee! Try the Lorraine quiche! The best part about this place is the amazing staff! Daniel greets you with a big smile and welcomes you like a friend. Jonathan and Amanda are super friendly and help to make your whole experience extra special. Thank you so much! We will definitely be back! 🤗

Review for Le Pain Quotidien: Le Pain Quotidien has a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for sitting down and socializing with friends. The coffee, tea, and pastries were all excellent. However, due to the busyness of the place, orders took a bit longer, and some items were forgotten. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend it!

Daniel was beyond warm and welcoming, that we decided to visit again and try other items.we dined in, and he helped us choose the best items on the menu. The french cream pastry was indeed delicious. My mom tried their gluten free bread and she liked it. Honestly one of the best customer service I’ve received ! He’s a great conversationalist , both my mom and I loved our visit!

If you are looking for a gluten free sweet you can find it here, plus they have gluten free homemade breads... I tried the donut cream and the coconut sweet and it was delicious. The cream of the donut was fluffy and not too sweet, it contrasted with the dough of the donut which was more crunchy and sweet. I will return here to buy the gluten free artisan breads, it was on my list for my next visit. The prices didn't seem like something extreme and crazy to me. And the cashier's attention was excellent since he took his time explaining to me the different desserts and gluten free options.

Was there a Wednesday morning. The place is clean. Not really the same atmosphere as in Belgium (more cos) but nice place to dine in. The staff was friendly. Had a Pain au chocolat (in French on the menu 😍) and a cappuccino. The pain au chocolat was a little bit too dry. $14 it’s a bit expensive but I guess it’s the city… But will come back to see if the Bombe au chocolat tastes like home.

Found this place after searching for breakfast near Grand Central Terminal. The walk was short, and we were seated right away. The food was excellent, but some of the dishes were light in portion. I had the Belgian waffle, and my wife had the turkey bacon avocado Martine. I also had an iced chai latte which was really good. Our server gave great service. Maybe I'd come back for more if in the mood.

La Pain Quotidien, a French bakery located at SE corner 3rd Avenue and E 44 street. A good place for a quick coffee and some French little experience. Prices are, well, again New York, nothing is cheap here if you are under air conditioned indoors… overall worthy.

I was walking by and had a sweet tooth and their French Cream Donuts in the window have an irresistible look to them. I have to admit they are very good. I’d get them again. The space was nice, but the tables clearly hadn’t been wiped down recently. I never saw one wiped in the 20 minutes I was in there. Pastries are served on paper plates rather than dishware. The service was disorganized. The guy behind the counter was confused and had to ask for help a couple of times. It also moved slow. I’d go back for a donut though.

S

Great place but perpetually understaffed. Maybe the owners should not try to cut costs by having minimal, stressed, overworked staff.

The food wqa great but took over an hours just for oye croissant. They also made us wait a long time before taking our order. Terrible customer experience

J

I stopped in for breakfast to go and waited about 25 minutes for my sandwich. After asking how much longer it would take, the manager informed me that they couldn’t make it because they were out of eggs. I was really disappointed that I wasn’t told this until I asked. Although I received a refund and was offered something from the grab-and-go section, I ended up declining the alternative. Overall, the experience was frustrating due to the lack of communication.

M

Great food and drinks, service horrible. 15 minutes before they took our order then another 15-20 minutes before our drinks came, and they were all wrong, then everyone except one person in my party got their drink and then it didn’t arrive until after the food. We also didn’t get water.

Atul

Decent food, a little overpriced. Not great when your server mentions that tip is "his hourly salary" and looking over the shoulder for the same! Do not appreciate the hostility for tipping.

Came here for breakfast and got the smoked salmon omelette ($18.75). On the menu, it said it comes with Greek yogurt, but it didn’t. It came with a salad and bread. The dish was quite large, and it was a satisfying breakfast. The service was so slow though. A table that was seated before us got their food served before the waiter even took our order.

We came at a time tjay wouldn’t usually be super busy, and it was overwhelmingly busy. The staff didnt give us any attention at all, and was overly rude when we asked for help. The food was just eh, very overpriced for what we got. However, they did give my mom a small tea pot for her tea which was nice.

S

They serve the coffee in the cup even in the indoor dinning. Not recommended!

G

The brioche roll was dry and tasted stale. They indicated it was definitely fresh, so I guess it just doesn’t taste good.

A
Angie Bachalo

I ordered some baked goods, which were good. I ordered a Chai Latte - I have no idea if the person who made it messed it up, but it is the most disgusting Chai Latte I have ever had the misfortune of drinking. Stay away. I don't know how their other hot beverages are, but DO NOT GET A CHAI LATTE!!! Seriously - disgusting.

Y
Yosup64

Food came 10 minutes. The sandwich I ordered had an avocado that was as hard as a rock. I couldn’t even cut it with a knife. I wouldn’t recommend going here. I would have been happier going to McDonald’s.

N
New Wave

Nice knowledgeable staff if you have questions and your first time there. Sandwiches was decent. Only problem was the lady wearing mask have no idea how to make a simple drink. I ordered a latte and she burned the milk 2 times and waited a long time when there was only 2 people in queue. Stayed a little longer to know if i was right, alas. Every single steam of milk she did was BURNT! I worked as barista for 4 years before and i know my coffee beverage. Do not order if the tall lady with mask is making drinks. Save your money or ask for somebody else to make your drink!

H
Hannah Huefner

I think the service staff was overwhelmed because it took almost an hour for us to get our food after ordering. We weren’t expecting the long wait and had to change our plans for the day.

N
Naz Samandarova

Got a small flat white which cost $6.15 but tastes worse than a $1 deli coffee with milk. Too much foam for a flat white and the coffee is burnt, no trace of espresso in the taste. The barista has an attitude. I dropped my lid and asked for a new one and she directed me to the cash register while the lids were right under her hands. Giving 2 stars for the cleanliness and the space. A lot of seats if you want to work/study but you’ll have to get something other than coffee.

This used to be one of my absolute favorite places to have a coffee and get a pastry or something quick to eat in the city. In general, it’s still a pretty good brand but this particular location the last few times I’ve been in has been really dismal. The people who work there are friendly and kind, but it is extremely slow and low energy. Not the typical warm atmosphere that one might find in some of the other locations. Additionally, some of the food I’ve had there has not had as much flavor as it has in the past, which is really weird. I don’t know what has happened to this brand, but it makes me not want to go in there. At breakfast time there was a line of about four people with one person sitting down and four people working and still there was a long wait. It was easier for me to walk two blocks away to Maman which is a much smaller establishment, but will give me my food immediately.

K
K G

Wow, ordered the waffles and it was the tiniest $11+ waffle I’ve ever seen. Finished all of it and was still hungry. Which never happens for me. They don’t have this place where I live but the last time I came here many years ago I came three days in a row, that’s how much I loved it. Now I’m not sure I’ll be back. Man how times have changed.

J
Joseph Ivancich

We walked in on this fine morning in January. We got seated relatively quickly and that is when the madness began. If you’re thinking about ordering a cheap good meal, this is the wrong place. The food is very overpriced for small portions. The chocolate milk I had ordered was spoiled milk and didn’t taste like chocolate. The food was very expensive and poorly made. The plates were not big enough for the food and that is ironic considering how small my egg sandwich was.

D
Danny Diliberti

The pasties look amazing. The taste and flavors do Not match the price tag . Very expensive for the quality

A
Andrew Hryshchenko

The waiter explained to us that if we ordered on the counter we should grab and go, and if we want to sit we should have asked to be seated and then we’d have gotten “table service”. Of course he was polite enough to let us sit this time (and “next time we would know”), but I wonder if the “table service” included any table cleaning, cause the one we dared to sit at was absolutely filthy.

My husband and I came here for a late lunch; I’ve always really like these restaurants having eaten at them across the city over the past 10 years, but I think this place has really gone downhill! We both ordered lentil soups which arrived barely warm. Hello? Soup is always supposed to be hot! How can they not know this? We sent it back and when it came back it was still not hot, we ate it anyway as I did not want to bother asking again. Big disappointment. I ordered a salad which did not taste or look very fresh; it had chicken on top and I honestly thought it looked bad. Like it was old. I ate just 1/3 the salad. Just not appetizing. It was supposed to be a ceaser but had a bleu cheese dressing. I had to ask for olive oil for the table and it tasted rancid. My husband got sick afterwards, we don’t know if it was his soup or the rancid olive oil; I did not get sick (yet) so not sure if the food was tainted or bad. But it was still a sub par experience. Then I purchased a chocolate chip cookie was tasted like it had been sitting there for 15 days. We took a few bites and threw it out. I’ll try other locations but 44th and 3rd needs to get their act together; I hope management comes to ask the kitchen why they serve lukewarm soup??!! And super stale cookies. My guess is it’s a dead location and they just don’t do volume so food quality and freshness has greatly deteriorated. I do not recommend this location.

Mini pancakes arrived barely lukewarm. By time I was 2 bites in they were cold. Too bad, because had they been warm I think they would have been pretty good. The waitress forget my coffee and utensils, but brought them quickly when asked. My coffee cup had a huge Crack. I drank around it. I'm currently 15 minutes into waiting for a check. I won't be returning to dine in. I may try their pastry for take away, but with all the great food in NYC, why bother?

Ellen
Ellen

Update: I got their regular coffee which was not good. It tastes like coffee you can get for $1 and the mini carrot cake was so pricey for such a small, bite sized pastry. The seating in the back was not clean with croissant flakes on the tables, floors and seats. Workers need to be trained how to use the machines. Their pain aux raisins was good. Flaky on the outer rings and denser in the middle. The cafe is spacious with seating in the back. I went there early in the morning and it was empty other than the workers there who could have been a bit more welcoming. The fresh cream donut was ok. The cream was light and good but the donut itself had a slightly bitter aftertaste.

A
Ana Rodríguez

Insanely overpriced, bad service along with flies on the food. Do not come here.

N
Nanda Quero

This was the worst experience. They took over 25minutes to give me boiled eggs and they were not even peeled. They waiter gad a very bad attitude. I had to get my food to go and cant event eat it because eggs are in the shell.

I am a traveler and came inside the store in the morning. I saw the sign of wait to be seated, we waited for about 7mins and nobody came to seat us. So we just heading to the register. The guy took our order and I clearly stated for dine-in and gave them tips of 18% at the register since we think that we will be dine-in. Another waitress overheard and came to tell the cashier next time they have to ask for dine in or to go. Anyway, our food came out in a to go bag. I was confused and told the waitress once again that we are dine in. The waitress then said he will bring the coffee to us then but next time we need to wait to be seated. We waited for a while, the coffee still not arrived. My boyfriend asked the waitress again if he will bring our coffee to us or not. He repeated the same thing that he told me. We finished all 3 bakery items, the coffee still not here. I came over and our coffee was ready but he just not bringing it to us. The bakery was just average, coffee is not as great neither. But the service like that is horrible. Wasted my money to tips for a to go order that we did not even get served. Even as a traveler, I have already tried a lot of coffee shop in NYC during my times, but this experience and the coffee is the worst by far

C
Casey Weissbuch

Never had a worse experience at a coffee shop. I’ve been to Le Pains before so I know the deal but this place was SO uninviting, the staff were SO unfriendly, and the food was below like a C grade level. Prices are exorbitant as well. I used to come here before Le Pain bought it and you could sit anywhere you want, the staff was kind, and you didn’t feel watched over - but here they watch you like a hawk and if you buy food but not from the menu you’re not allowed to sit down. Screw this place.

S
Stephen D

Worst experience at Le Pain I have ever had. The cashier (on my receipt it said Server: DJMC M) but just in case, he was a short latin guy with a tattoo sleeve, earing and was wearing a colorful print shirt just before 4pm on April 29th. Horrible attitude for no reason. Then the barista was not rude (bleached blonde guy) but he was high as a kite and did not know what he was doing. My iced mocha was disgusting and after he didn't know how to make it properly a 2nd time, I asked for a refund from the rude cashier. He said he refunded me---it's been 5 days and still no refund. Will never go to this location again.

B
Brett

Berry tart had moldy berries. Showed it to an employee who offered to give us new one. We hot the lemon tart instead. Did not leave us with the impression of fresh baked. Coconut macarron actually a coconut crusted bread. Not what I am accustomed to for a macaroon. Coffee was good. Fast service. High price for the poor quality.

J
Juliana Rosa

Awful service. So different from what LPQ used to be when it was across from the street. Service has always been terrible, but today was the worst. Although their closing time is 6pm, I got there around 5:10 and asked if my scone could be warmed. The cashier (who was already in a bad mood), said the oven was already cooling down. The other servers were actually already folding the chairs to close. Is the closing time 5 or 6pm after all? What a shame.

D
Da Boss

Bad service. Food wasn't fresh and definitely not worth the upscale prices.

Please train your staff properly to not discriminate. I walked in there to get my fav bread and wanted to get half a loaf and she said we only sell, whole. I looked at her to give her a chance to correct herself. And then said I come here often and I usually get half. I wanted to eat fresh bread and don’t want to waste on stale bread. It’s a big loaf for 2 people. The. She looked at her monitor and said, ah right. And she cut the bread, less than half and looked miserable handing me the bread. Really? Do we need that on a Monday morning. Sad. I hope the management will train staff to be pleasant and respectful.

They messed up the order, a simple omelette came after more than an hour and checking up 5-6 times. They forgot about the coffee we ordered, had to go check twice. Got late for a movie because of this.

A almond croissant cost me $6.00. Should say “Billionaires only” on the front door.

THEY SELL RAW CHICKEN! I had to take couple bites to taste something was off. When I told the staff that its raw, nobody took me seriously, they gave me looks that “I was speaking nonsense”, one of them was like I can heat it- after I insisted. but obviously it wont make any difference to put it in the microwave. They called their so called “manager”- he approached me and he didnt even look at the chicken he just decided to not believe me and he was like I can put it in the microwave as I told you, but we dont sell raw chicken. LOOK AT THE PICTURE! THIS PLACE ISN’T SAFE TO EAT! AND THE STAFF IS EXTREMELY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL!

This was the worst place i ate at in NY. Unironically terrible service combined with getting some food then having to request again all the food they forgot, then that food showing up cold to then be reheated in a microwave to taste like rubber. At least the name got it right cause the only thing you will feel here is "Le Pain"

When ordering a $15 sandwich, one may expect something decent. Unfortunately in this place you will get what you see in the picture: one slice of prosciutto and a bit of spinach The only reason I didn't confront our waiter (who was professional and kind) is because I didn't want to upset my company. Simply shameful.

The staff at this café work as if they are unhappy to be there. It really affects the atmosphere. On top of that, one of the waitresses put her fingers inside my cup while serving it, which was very unpleasant and unhygienic.

I’m genuinely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The quality of the food was shockingly poor. I ordered a quinoa salad with grilled chicken, which used to be warm and fresh, but this time everything arrived cold, extremely salty, and honestly inedible. I then tried switching to the flatbread, hoping it would be better. Unfortunately, it tasted like it came straight out of the freezer. It was cold (or barely reheated) and impossible to eat. At that point, I had to cancel my order entirely. I left hungry, frustrated, and very disappointed. Horrible kitchen service. This place has gone dramatically downhill.
