Ginochio's Kitchen Bodega Bay Reviews
We have been going here for 3 years now. Discovered it thru Bring Fido. The brisket sandwiches are the bomb. We have brought friends and they too loved it. I almost don't want anyone else to know at this point. The prices are in line with other places. But the food and service is miles above. What a hidden gem!
Amazing breakfast bacon burrito and hash of beef! I love their brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. Great quality food with friendly service and a beautiful view. A must try when you're in Bodega Bay! My girlfriend and I will definitely be back!
We had the clam and scallop chowder and the fish tacos. The chowder was the best I've had, sorry, Spud Point Crab Co! It was thick and flavorful with lots of clams and scallop chunks. Delish! And the fish tacos had really generous portions of cod with cabbage and guacamole and mango salsa on the side. Yum!
I can’t say enough about this Catoring experience. They helped me plan the menu for my daughter’s Newlywed Brunch and then executed everything perfectly. Not only was the food delicious but the SERVICE was over the top. They are very organized and professional. Needless to say, the morning after our daughters wedding, we were moving a little slow. Thankfully they came right into my home, set up everything I ordered… AND THEN SOME. They had everything ready in minutes… I texted them when we were ready for them to return to pick up their chaffing dishes, coffee urn & serving utensils. They even offered to haul off our party trash from 40 people.. NOW THATS INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. If you are even remotely interested in a Catered party, don’t look any further. They Got You!
The beef hash was outstanding!!! My husband and I split it and also had some monkey bacon bread! The portion was great!!! Great prices too! Can't wait to come back and try lunch! Being restaurant owners ourselves we tend to be very picky! Thank you for wonderful food.
We stopped here because we were trying to find lunch before we headed back home. Every place we got to was just absolutely mobbed. We saw signs for Ginochio’s, so we followed them back. No regrets at all! The staff were so friendly, and the food was delicious. We got fish tacos and some clam chowder. Holy cannoli, that was the right combo. It smelled so good inside the restaurant. Can’t wait to visit again and try the ribs!
Wow, wow, wow! We grabbed a bowl of clam & scallop chowder, pulled pork sandwich along with a great red wine by the glass. The staff was awesome, food delicious and we got to watch the fishing boats come in while we ate. Great outside seating, too.
Phenomenal Food ( had the Piggy Sandwich : 14 hr slow roasted pork, BBQ sauce, cole slaw on a toasted brioche bun.. we added grilled pineapple, it elevates the beautiful flavor) Excellent customer service. Great location with water front views. It was worth the drive.
I wasn't expecting much when I entered Ginochio's kitchen; just a quick bit before hitting the beach, but WOW! Mind. Blown. The staff was incredibly inviting and friendly, and friendly in such a way that, just striking up a conversation with our server would be warmly welcomed. But that food, though. The caramel bacon monkey bread stole the show! There were three of us at our table, and when I went in for a second bite, I nearly got bit! Yeah, it's that good. I need to tell you about the brisket burrito, though (while I make Homer Simpson drooling moans). It was as tender as brisket can be, and so very flavorful. The cheese was thoroughly melted, the potatoes were seasoned and cooked perfectly, and I just can't say enough about it. Please, do yourself a favor and give this place a shot. If we are still in town when they start serving lunch, I'm sure we are going to grab something for the road. Cheers, folks!
We had the best chowder which was loaded with crab and scallops and split a crab sandwich. It couldn’t have been better. So glad we stopped here instead of at the crowded place further down the bay with long lines and a few picnic tables. We had yummy food and a view
Ginochio's is like a best-kept secret. The food is amazing and the people are kind.
Cute little place with outdoor seating overlooking the bay. The outside is also wind shielded which is amazing. The clam and scallop chowder is AWESOME and we get the brisket and pork is great as well. We hit this place up every time we go to Bodega Bay.
What an amazing place! We tried everything, fish tacos and burger were amazing. Moo Sandwich beef brisquit and pulled pork - would have made love to it. Potato salad and clam chowder, would cross the country for a taste of that again. After our well rounded meal I forgot a souvenir at the restaurant, didn't think twice about it and the lady/owner actually drove it to our campsite. Now that is some hospitality. We will be back tomorrow 😀
Excellent food, great vibes. Brisket was spot on, clam and scallop chowder is the best I've tasted in Bodega Bay. Monkey bread was over the top delicious. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!!
Rustic harbor side venue. Outdoor seating at lunch was beautiful. The fish tacos were delicious and the apple fritter was the best ever!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place over anything else in Bodega Bay! Brisket and pulled pork is off the hook! Super juicy and tender, the pork ribs are always fall off the bone. The boyfriend loves their clam and scallop chowder, it is always just right! Super friendly staff! Definitely will be visiting again soon!
The BEST clam chowder (it's the scallops that really make it special). I envied my friend's order of crab sandwich, my son's fish tacos and my husband's tri-tip sandwich. Really good food and the owner is delightful, happily telling me the recipe for the clam chowder was found by her mom in Italy. I'll be back!
So, we were driving south on Rt 1 in California, and made a wrong turn while seeking lunch in Bodega Bay, when my wife decided to see what might be at our waterfront dead-end. I am glad she did, as we discovered Ginochio's Kitchen (and enjoyed the dining courtyard shared with its neighbor, Gourmet Au Bay). Our neighbors were friendly, and our dog was welcome at the outdoor dining room (which had a small indoor room as well). When I looked at the menu, I was torn between the pricey Buttery Dungeness Crab Sandwich ($24.95), and the Clam & Scallop Chowder ($13.95); I did what I often would not: I had both. The crab sandwich was amazing, and the crab was the freshest and best I'd tasted on a sandwich, but I would have liked a little more Havarti and scallions. The chowder was actually the best I have ever eaten, and I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area growing up, and for nineteen of my recent adult years, going to the late great Spengers and more. But Ginochio's pairing of scallops with clams might have employed heavy cream and other ingredients. There was zero taste of any floury filler, or cornstarch. And I don't even really like scallops. Amazing, highest rating. The service was excellent. We don't like to drop a ton of money on most lunches, and do budget our money, but sitting in the open-air patio with glass walls and a beautiful view of Bodega Bay with kind fellow diners, the bill didn't shake us. We were hooked and well-rewarded. Bravissimo Ginochio's
Went here for a wedding rehearsal dinner and it was so fantastic. The meal provided was brisket, a quinoa salad, and cup of clam chowder. The brisket was so tender and flavorful and melted in your mouth. The clam chowder was soooo good and unlike anything in the area. Definitely worth stopping here if you’re in the area!
My partner and I stopped here for lunch and were very pleased. Laid back atmosphere and beautiful views, coupled with very friendly staff and tasty food. We got the crabby, fries, fish tacos and beans with pulled pork. Less than 10 minutes wait and we were enjoying our lunch under the orange umbrellas. Very pleasant place We will be returning
Great restaurant and would recommend. The crab sandwich was fantastic along withe clam chowder. Thought the patio was a nice touch for summer visiting. Prices are a little steep.
We've been coming here for years...the whole menu is amazingly tasty!
My husband and I stopped in at Ginochio’s for lunch during a brief visit to Bodega Bay, and we can’t recommend it enough. Amazing service from very kind people and incredible food. I got the Dungeness crab sandwich and it was absolutely delicious and so fresh. My husband got “The Moo” with the brisket and he absolutely loved it. The location is beautiful, right near the docks with a pretty view of the bay. Overall this was a 10/10 experience and definitely more fun than going to some of the larger and more touristy restaurants in the area. We even got tips for local whale watching!
Bacon & eggs, toast & potatoes. Of course caramel bacon monkey bread as well! Really good breakfast. Friendly service. Down by the water. Indoor/outdoor seating, pet friendly.
I had Paul's ribs and my husband has the Moo sandwich with a side of Cole Slaw. It was delicious! The portion size was great and the young lady at the counter this Sunday was very nice. We will be going again.
Little gem tucked away down by the wharf on the way to Bodega Head. The crab sandwich is one of the best things you will ever eat, simple and perfect. The brisket is flavorful, balanced, and not overly smokey. The chowder is wonderful, scallops add a nice treat. A definite must try
What can I say - it has it all! Huge great fish tacos, BBQ, sandwiches... On the bay, nice!
My new favorite place near bodega bay for clam chowder. This soup is off the hook and has delicious sweets bites of scallops as well, it is apparent why its award winning. The crab sandwich was heavenly and they are not stingy on the crab! It's full of big sweet lumps and a nice melted havarti 🤤 we also tried the fish tacos which were okay but nothing special in my opinion. I'll be back to try other menu items if I can be brave enough to venture away from the soup and the crab sando. Oh and the staff was amazing and super sweet!!
Got Lunch. Amazing sandwiches, incredible clam chowder, fast and delightful service and they even ran me down to return my jacket! 5+ stars. Everyone go here. We will definitely return.
The crab sandwich is great. I wish there was a pedestrian route to get there. The clam\scallop chowder had a lot of potato in it, but it was still very meaty.
Our car club (the Vaca Valley Vettes) had lunch at Ginochio’s Kitchen and it was incredible! Their menu offers a wide variety of food choices, and the food was delicious. We were a group of 22 and they handled our dining needs in a very quick and efficient manner. We will definitely be coming back the next time we’re in Bodega Bay. (I’m sure Alfred Hitchcock would have recommended this restaurant as well.)
The absolutely beautiful, great food. Okay, this is the most recent we've returned after 3 months. I kid you not you want excellent food with phenomenal view. Who needs stinking crab when you have tri-tip like this?.. and the nachos well you've got to have bad taste buds if you can't. Love these nachos..
My favorite spot in the area - exceptional food! The crab sandwich is a must, as is the chowder. This is my #1 of 5 chowders I have tried in the area. The crab is prepared with light mayonnaise and lemon juice so the crab is the highlight. The toasted bread with the melted havarti make this sandwich a standout! Very friendly staff and nice rustic location on the water. The crab traps in the parking lot next door give a fishing village vibe. I look forward to returning. Visited after a high 50s morning at Doran Beach - AWESOME DAY!
This is a wonderful place to go. We chatted with the owner & had a few minutes of local history & shared our history with bodega bay. The food was wonderful & they were able to provide gluten-free options. Highly recommend the brisket! Portions are a great size & pricing is good. We really enjoyed eating & looking out to the bay & dock. Can't wait to go back when we come again. 🤗
This place is a small treasure hidden in Bodega, the staff is absolutely incredible, so kind and generous. They help fishermen who can't afford things, like slip fees and food. Alysha is a god send, seriously an angel in disguise. We came here today not able to afford the whole meal and they surprised us with some fish tacos when I grabbed the order. We also came yesterday for the first time and they didn't charge us for beers or food, we wanted to pay but there was a long line when we finished eating and they said don't worry about it. They work with the local food bank also. Places like this don't exist anymore, make sure to give them your business
OK. First time eating, but not the last. If you only go for the clam &scallop chowder you won't be disappointed!!! The Brisket was cooked to perfection... definitely a must stop when in Bodega Bay... last the owner ( I think) was very friendly and talkative the service was great.. restauran t had a home town feeling with a great view of the bay!!! If there is a line seriously the clam and scallop chowder is so worth the wait..
Truly amazing day last Friday!! Stopped at Ginochio’s Kitchen in Bodega for lunch and had their sandwich The Piggy! Very good pulled pork sandwich! A little more in the sweet side than I like but still a great sandwich! I just like a bit more smoke and salt!! Indoor / outdoor seating and a good selection of foods. Just a day dream for this fanatic foodie!!! But for real!! SALUTE!!
We had a very pleasant lunch on the patio with our dog on Friday. The crab sandwich and clam chowder exceeded expectations, and my wife loved her fish taco. While the Caramel Bacon Monkey Bread was a unique dessert, I might try a different one next time.
Had lunch here on our trip to bodega bay, the staff was so friendly and nice, told us what is popular on the menu, we both went with the the pulled pork sandwich “the moo sand-which” and man was it so good! The outside seating was awesome as we got to bring our pug with us, great view of the bay while we ate, met some cool people while we were there! Definitely recommend coming here if you want good vibes, good food and good views! Can’t wait to come again!
I had my intimate wedding dinner catered onsite at Ginochio's on 10/10. From the early planning conversations with Patty, to her family's kindness and accommodation on what turned out to be a rainy day (Patty and Alicia put out prayers to the rain gods that it would stop for us!), to the INCREDIBLE food AND service, we fell in love with the Ginochio family. Patty and her family were so gracious with our party, as they are with the local community (if you know, you know!). Everyone in our party RAVED about the food and the service. We had a wonderful experience here and will definitely be back during future Bodega trips to experience the regular menu. Thank you again!!
Had a delicious FRESH dungeonous crab sandwich. The crab was amazing. When I commented they shared it had been caught today. Wow. Clam chowder was nice too. Sit on the patio for a nice view of the bay. Highly recommend.
Wow! What a gem! If you are looking for outstanding chowder, you have to try Ginochio’s Kitchen. Best chowder we have had in California. The owner is a sweetheart who knows everything about the town of Bodega Bay. Huge parking lot with lots of spots. Clean restrooms. Food comes out quick and piping hot. We finally got to try their breakfast burritos and they did not disappoint. Huge and filled with delicious pulled pork. We will definitely be back soon!
Ginochio’s Kitchen is a Hidden Gem in Bodega Bay! If you’re visiting Bodega Bay and looking for a place that delivers unforgettable flavor and warm hospitality, Ginochio’s Kitchen is a must! Their Brisket Breakfast is absolutely amazing—tender, smoky, and perfectly seasoned, it’s the kind of hearty start to the day that keeps you talking about it long after the last bite. But the real star? Their Clam Chowder. Hands down, 5 stars and without question the best in Bodega Bay. Creamy, rich, loaded with clams, and bursting with coastal flavor—it’s everything chowder lovers dream of. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, don’t miss this bowl of perfection. Great food, welcoming staff, and coastal charm—Ginochio’s Kitchen is what Bodega Bay tastes like!
Great selection of food, wonderful service (all staff was extremely friendly), and an AMAZING view!!! Beef brisket sandwich was delicious & so was their clam chowder. The owner was very personable & so was the lady at the front counter. Will be back again! And my kids loved the magnets.
Moved to the area recently and was celebrating a friends birthday for the weekend. We wanted to go to gourmet au bay for lunch but we were too early. Ginochios next door was open so we went through the patio door but got confused as we were on the backside of the restaurant. We went around and ordered inside and sat back out on the patio. Only the orange umbrellas were theirs and the reds all said reserved for when gourmet au bay opened at noon. We had the dogs on the floor and a few of us had the fish tacos which were stuffed with cod. Large meal so it made up for the priceyness of eating out these days. Also had a white wine. Some people had other drinks, the chowder which they enjoyed, and the side of beans which was big enough to share. I put all the salsas and condiments on my tacos but still wished for a hot sauce, would take my own unless they offered it! Water is in the hallway with plastic cups. They didn’t have a dog water bowl but offered me a chowder cup for water, but bring your own if you have it! The cashier was friendly. No one was eating inside as it was a nice day out. Parking lot was easy as it was still early at 11:20am on a Saturday morning.
Quite a variety of options from barbecue, to seafood. We shared the fresh crab/ havati cheese sandwich with chips and a 16 oz clam and scallop chowder. The sandwich was delicious and the chowder was creamy and loaded, and with some potato bits. You also get the benefit of a wonderful view of the pelicans. See photos.
What an amazing little find! clean and modern little hole in the wall cafe situated right at the top of the Harbor. We had amazing breakfast burritos and you have to try the monkey bread with bacon and caramel! Never had anything like it and would come out of my way to come back here to get it again! we had our puppy with us there's plenty of outdoor seating and dog friendly
This is a barbeque place, open 9:00 to 3:00. Best and least expensive breakfast in town. Great mimosas. From 11:00 on, they do traditional BBQ plates with sides. Have beer and wine. Good view of bay and harbor. Outside seating is on enclosed patio with glass walls to mitigate the frequent strong winds. Order at counter, they will serve. I go here at least once or twice a visit.
Really good food. Family driven spot with some crazy baked goods, awesome smoked brisket, distinct flavor. Only fault was the toast was basic - sourdough seemed like average white slice of toast. Def recommend
STUNNINGLY AMAZING FOOD. SO BEAUTIFUL The "Alicia's crackling nachos" are great and fairly priced; I had mine with pulled pork but tri-tip and brisket are also options. A family member had the Dungeness Crab Sandwich and said it was decent but certainly not phenomenal. Nice location and outdoor seating—right next to harbor.
We arrived at 11:10 and they allowed us to order breakfast even though lunch starts at 11:00. Cute little outdoor patio shared with the restaurant next door. But the tables with the best views of the water are reserved for the other restaurant starting at noon. Not sure about the remaining tables.
Friendly service. Great selection for breakfast. My husband had the brisket hash with 2 eggs over easy & tri tip burrito. I had the bacon burrito with all the fixings. What a great breakfast! We will be back to try the rest of the menu.
Very cool little place virtually on the water in bodega bay, super friendly owners even called me in advance of picking up my order to let me know that the fresh crab was being dropped off as we spoke (tiny delay) My only visit so far was last week, ordered crab sandwiches and both kinds of chowder plus coleslaw for (4) The chowders were very good, hot and creamy, coleslaws had an unexpected flavor of a hint of bbq sauce (I believe ) which I wasn’t as big a fan of though the mix was fresh and crispy Want to love the crab sandwiches but surprisingly too much butter on the crispy bread for my taste (dripping with butter!) - crab filling was delightful!
Owners were very nice. Food was good, but for me, a bit pricey. My husband and I split a pulled pork sandwich, my brother in law had a bowl of chowder and sister had a pulled pork sandwich. With tip, almost $50. Beautiful scenic area.
Nice place for a lunch date, but we were too late for the breakfast hash. I will have to return to get the brisket hash! We had the nachos, a crab sandwich, clam & scallop chowder, and fish tacos. If you are gluten free just let them know. They will steer you to the items that are safe for you. And everything tastes fabulous! Beer and soda are in the fridge, so you can have a frosty beverage with your meal. And be hungry (and prepared to take home leftovers!) because the portions are enormous!
Nice place. They fixed us breakfast even though it was well after 11am already. Eggs cooked perfectly. The home fries were good but just a little bit under cooked. The breakfast sandwich was great. All in all, well worth it.
Let's talk about the location and service first. Great location, and the people are super nice, especially the guy working the front counter. The coffee is good, the monkey bread is good, and my brisket burrito was.... Ok? The brisket was literally the worst part of the burrito with everything else being pretty tasty. My buddy ordered the brisket hash plate and just like my burrito, the brisket was extremely overcooked and dry with the other items being tasty. It's ok to use leftover meat for breakfast, but please at least do a quality check before serving it. I probably won't be back but it's not personal. Wish it would have went differently.
We came here for breakfast, and the food was pretty good. Some people from our party had the brisket burrito and loved it. The rest of us had the egg sando (I can't remember the name, but it was a similar vibe), which was basic but still tasted good.
Beautiful spot in Bodega Bay. One of the few lunch places that has a nice big parking lot! We love sitting outside and enjoying the views. The scallop and clam chowder are delicious and they give a nice amount of scallops and clams. Crab sandwich is very tasty, my kids devoured them. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the fries, they seemed similar to what I buy in the freezer section, but I don't come to the coast for the fries so no big deal.
Came around 2:30pm before they close at 3pm. Ordered inside and sat outside. They have their own parking lot which was helpful. We had the clam chowder (“award winning”) and the moo (brisket sandwich). Both were solid dishes. You help yourself to cleaning up after and they have a nice view next to the boats and water.
I’ve been wanting to check out this cafe for a while now and today was the day. I liked that we could order at the window. This is not a vegetarian friendly place- nachos seem to be the only option. The prices are fair and the portions generous. It was a gorgeous day so we took in the sun and dined on their patio with a view. My son had the brisket sandwich- plenty of meat on it and he said it was tasty. I had the fish tacos- they were full with a lot of fish although the fish was a bit dry. I ordered a mimosa and let me tell you it could have been shared with two other people. I do not day drink much so ended up asking my son to drive us home. I’d like to return and try their breakfast menu sometime.
Visit to Bodega Bay made me go into this joint. Awesome Location, one of the stars goes for that. This place have indoor and outdoor space. Outdoor space is shared among two restaurant. This is a self service place. We ordered a Fish Tacos, Crackling Nachos, Clam Chowder and French fries. Fish Taco is not that great at all., I felt either the fish is not fresh or not cooked right. I wouldn't suggest that. Crackling nachos, this is a huge plate of nachos. Order one for two or three people. It was good, but no Jalapenos :( Clam Chowder was so good, end up having two cups. Just add a bit of hot sauce to spice it up. French Fries was nice and crispy. In summary.. if you enjoy outdoor seating and just a quick fix until you find a proper place., this is the place.
A good place for a functional (and very filling!) breakfast before you head out hiking for the day. The service was friendly, great views of the marina and coffees are bottomless / free refills. This is a self service experience so expect to order at the counter and clean up after yourself.
Yummy, cheesy tri-tip burrito and the best Beef of Hash. Warm, friendly staff. One of the regular guests, not so much. He cursed at my husband using the "F" word and waved his hands shewing him away as if he were a dog. Not good for business. The lady working there apologized for the man's behavior but he had already ruined our experience.
If you like salt and clam chowder this is the place for you. The chowder is good, but waaaaaayy tooooo salty. Why don’t you offer a “normal” recipe then also a much less salty version of the soup. You shouldn’t have to hide the taste of your chowder with salt.
Don't order the fish tacos. Utterly bland and dry. Over $50 for my wife and I with no drinks.
Ate lunch here today. My wife had the clam chowder. My mom and I both had the brisket sandwich with the potato salad. We all had the monkey bread. My wife liked her clam chowder. I thought it was only satisfactory. It needed something more. It was a little basic. The brisket was a little dry but tasty. It needed more barbeque sauce to make it moister. The sauce had too much vinegar in it for my taste. The meat was cold too. It would have been much better had it been hot. The bread was OK but nothing great. The onion, lettuce, and tomato on the sandwich were fine. The potato salad was simple but pretty good. The monkey bread was good, but it has bacon on it and that didn't go well with the sweet flavors. I think it would have been better without the bacon. The service was excellent. All of the staff were very friendly. The bathrooms were very clean and nice. There were some good views of the bay too. Prices were very high ($$$). For example, a small bottle of water (that costs 25 cents at Costco) was $2.50. Our out of pocket expenses for the meal was close to $60. I'm not sure I'd come back here again. For the price, it needed to be better.
This small family owned restaurant in Bodega Bay has limited indoor & outdoor seating. I was told our food would be ready between 15-20 min. I walked down to the marina and back within 10 minutes and food was ready. Which was a plus, so I thought. We were only half a mile from our rental and the food was already cold by the time we made it back which was only a 2 minute drive. We ordered the seafood chowder, beef brisket sandwich, BBQ tri-tip sandwich and fries. Brisket sandwich was good. Could use more meat, but it was tender & flavorful. The chowder & tri-tip were good but on the salty side. Chowder was barely warm. The fries were luke warm & not crispy. All in all, the food was just okay. No napkins or spoon in the bag either. Unfortunately, we will not be returning. Crossed it off my Foodie list.
Food was good but had a different taste to the pulled pork and the rack of ribs and we weren't quite sure what it was..The coleslaw was delicious and our kiddos love the hot dog and fries. Much more expensive then we anticipated for just a family lunch but the eating area was lovely. Beautiful views of the coast right from our seat. Service was friendly and location was clean.
For breakfast, I went with the "Hash of Beef" (14 Hour Smoked Texas Style Beef Brisket mixed with Country Potatoes, onions & bell peppers topped with 2 over-easy eggs). Cooked perfectly, nice portion size. On a few bites you can get hits of the smoke on the brisket the rest of the time it was hiding from my fork. Not much on seasoning but everything really tasted good with the tangy/heat of some Tapatio hot sauce. I held back from using it at first because I really wanted to get a good taste of the brisket. There was enough on the plate to save some for breakfast the next day. I added a little bit of leftover lime-garlic-buttered grilled lobster to it and the surf & turf combo was soooo good. I will be going back for sure as they have quite the menu selection.
I really wanted to love this little place with a friendly staff and an amazing view, but the food was just OK. The "award winning" chowder barely had any seafood! Delicious, but mostly potatoes. Crab sandwich was A+. Buttery and crisp bread. Delicious crab mixture. Fish tacos sucked. Possibly worst fish tacos ever. No flavor. Shells fell apart as soon as picked up, so had to eat them with fork. NO flavor. Left most of them on plate.
This place has a great location and friendly staff, but the ambiance resembles a fast food joint at the oceanside. They did not have prices posted, which I found suspicious, until I found out that a clam chowder, crab sandwich snd a drink cliocked in at almost $45. The food was decent but nothing to justify the gourmet prices more typical of a sit-down restaurant with table service. I can't recommend this place when you can get better chowder down the road for about $11 on the way to Bodega Head.
The crab sandwich and fish tacos were bland. Probably won't return.
Unfortunately can not recommend. Nice location. Good service but the fish was dried out and obviously frozen. Not fresh as told. I'm a life time fisherman. Don't like being lied to. Next time in bodega Bay will go go back to the birds cafe. And had diarrhea two hours later. I hate to post this! What a quaint spot in Bodega.
One bad crab sandwich. 2 claim and scallop chowders was 72.00 with tip and we had to pick up our order and bus our own table after the meal.
This business seems designed to rip you off. First the chowder review. It was disgusting. I ate three spoonfuls and left it. Mealy white base, overcooked potatoes, short on clams. On the menu they offer one size a 16 oz. I inquired about a smaller portion. Yes, they have a 12 oz size. Not enough room on the menu board to list both was their reason... Right. Ok. Ordered the 12 oz was charged for the 16 oz. Pricing is gouging the tourist high, $9.50 for a 16 oz serving of clam chowder.
We had breakfast there and is was terrible. I ordered Hash of beef , eggs taste bland , meat had weird flavor like it was in refrigerator uncovered for a while. I ordered food togo but got it served on plate when I mentioned it to the server she got salty about it and just pointed to the Togo boxes. I don't mind boxing it just don't be rude.
Chose this spot because of the favourable reviews - sadly very disappointed. From the moment we arrived the woman behind the counter did not acknowledge us for several minutes, there was no one else in line - she was inattentive and quite abrupt to say the least. We ordered one large clam chowder, one crab sandwich, a cider and a soft drink - we paid $72. Which would be fine but the soup was inedible - so thick it was like thick clue, flavor was bland and very distinct uncooked flour taste - awful. Before we sat I asked for an extra paper cup so we could split the soup and was told the 6oz Cup would be an extra $2, really?!?!. The crab sandwich was oily and loaded in grease - too bad to waste some good crab. Overall a disappointing stop and unpleasant experience. Just to Mention we arrived at 11.30am, the start of lunch and Only a few customers were there - so the service and food quality cannot be blamed On being too busy.
