Great local sushi and burger spot. Staff is always friendly. You can watch them make your roll right in front of you. It’s a popular place so plan ahead. You can also call your order in TOGO.
It may not look like much and you may be hesitant ordering from a place the has everything from burgers to sushi but let me tell you they won’t disappoint. I’ve never had anything that wasn’t delicious. Yes it’s on the pricey side but well worth every penny. Strongly recommend! 👍🏼
a special place, redwoods around and good energy inside. The best tofu soup, so tasty, fresh and rich, great team working there, friendly and kind. You should try it ! We wish we had such a good sushi place where we live in Norway :-)
The food was really fresh and came out quickly! They also have American food here which seems to be a big hit to the locals for takeout. We liked the food, definitely coming back here next time we are in town.
Sounds odd to serve burgers & sushi but everything is very good. I love their unique sushi rolls. Their tempua is also yummy. They bake their own buns for their butgers & sandwiches. Definately worth eating here. Enjpy.
Started off with a sake recommendation from the waiter. It hit the spot; slightly sweet and very smooth. We ordered the crab rangoon appetizer which came quicker than expected. It was served with a red sauce. Tasted really good. The 2 sushi rolls that followed were visually appealing and tasted delicious and fresh. I would definitely come back. The waiter was over the top polite courteous and attentive. We had an amazing experience.
We came in to order takeout and they were unexpectedly busy. Their customer service is A+ and their food was worth the wait 💕
Don't let the name fool you that it's a gimmick - this is one of Guerneville's best secrets! We had both a fig burger and a few rolls / sashimi; all of it was delicious and really well made and presented. Also the mother and sons that run the place are friendly and fun to connect with. We debated going back again for dinner that day, so we'll be there again soon!
Can u guys please update your online menu prices? Food is great I'd jus like to know what I'm paying when I order. Thank you.
Always been a positive experience. Over the last few months I feel I’ve familiarized myself with a majority of the menu here. As well as the wonderful staff. The food never ceases to impress, their sushi chiefs are better than the offerings of Santa Rosa. One of the better places for sushi in Sonoma County.
This is some of the best sushi I’ve had recently! I almost didn’t come because it also says burgers on the front and I just thought the sushi couldn’t be that good… wrong. It was fabulous.
my husband and I are were new to this area a year ago for work and stopped in to try out a new place to eat. Since then I’ve tried multiple things on the menu and I’ve never had a bad meal. My go to guilty pleasure is the sushi here though. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. It’s a MUST if you’re in Guerneville. Honestly, even if you’re not in the area it’s worth the drive.
This is my favorite place to go. Family owned with fantastic food! The philly cheesesteak tastes sooo good and they make the bread in-house ! The sushi is great, too. A unique place with such an incredible variety of delicious options. There's something for everyone to enjoy. I can't speak highly enough about their food. It's my go to recommendation for people visiting the area.
Sushi was great, staff was wonderful. This is one of the only places open late in the area (until 10pm!) but that’s not the only reason to come here- it’s totally worth it, any time of day.
Well presented sushi. Great taste!
So glad I stopped here to eat! I had the tofu stir rice and it was delicious. This dish had a generous amount of tofu and rice along with a nice variety of veggies. The service was fast and friendly. Great restaurant, great food, great staff!
This place has insanely good sushi. Was blown away by the “I Love You” roll, and the tempura veggies and shrimp were fantastic as well.
Excellent & expeditious service with a smile, very friendly and informative. The food was hot, fresh & 😋 yummy! Parking can be challenging but well worth the effort. Pricing was reasonable. Go here if you want good food, you will be very happy.
One of our favorite sushi places in this area. Unique and delicious rolls, and non-sushi items (like an extensive burger menu) if that’s more your thing. Friendly staff, great service - we’ll be back!

Absolutely love this place. I keep begging my husband for us to go back. Since moving from canada its been really hard for me to find a sushi place that I truly love and koala has almost everything that I used to get in canada and i just Absolutely love it! Finaly came back for a second time after so long. Its worth the drive even if its quite far from home. If I lived closer you bet you'd see me as a regular customer coming in everytime I get paid haha
I truly LOVE this place. We ate so fast, I didn't take any photos, but we had a California roll, Rock n Roll, Salmon hand roll, the crab lagoon, hot sake, teriyaki chicken & rice, and the chow mein noodles. We live in NY and this was the best pick. We spoke to the LOVELY owner and a young teenager. Have cash for a discount! I will be telling everyone about this place!
Amazing quality of food and service. Busy nights are just that. Sometimes there's a wait but it's because everyone knows it's delicious.
Limited staff, but they were all very gracious and the food was superb. Reservation was easy. table of 8 enjoyed our dinner prior to the Christmas parade.
They always have absolutely amazing food and amazing service. The staff are so kind and understanding, and Christina is an absolute angel. We had to put in a very large and complicated order and she took her time and made sure everything was correct. A really awesome team all together

GREAT SUSHI. Service was OK. It's a decent shop but small, mom and pop kinda vibe. We had a great time.
I usually eat here after a day at the river. I'm glad they are open later than the other restaurants in the area. They serve both American and Japanese food. All of the Japanese cuisine has been perfect and delicious, with some of best sushi I've had. I love Lion King rolls and Koala's rendition is my favorite. The burgers are good but kinda a let down because they bake their buns in-house and the toppings are fresh, but the burger patties themselves are very thin and bland. I also like the spicy pork cheese steak sandwich because they use the spicy pork that is usually served on rice as a bowl, so it's it has an Asian flair and it's served on their in-house buns. You can grab you own bottled drinks from a cooler in the corner like American sodas, Japanese soda (Ramune) and beers. You can also pay before or after eat. There can be long wait times for food as they are small and normally pretty busy.
Koala’s truly has something for everyone. Sushi AND Burgers??? Who wouldn’t want that??? I originally was turned down from Pat’s around the corner. They told us they were closing early…1.5 hours before their actual closing. Were they not wanting my brown business? Who’s to say. The host at Pats were friendly enough to recommend Koala’s and I’d say I was pleasantly surprised by the offering and how everything tasted. Although, the “spicy chicken” wasn’t spicy and the poke was a bit dry (missing poke sauce!). Would I go again? Yes, in a pinch.
They make their own bread and buns... Fantastic food can't go wrong and really good prices' The staff are very friendly and helpful So whether you want to dine in at home or go to a picnic at the beach or Armstrong woods stopping here get something to eat and drink and then head out for a nice day 😁 You'll be glad you did

Several vegan options. I got a tofu stir fry dish that was delicious. My friends dishes looked great too. Something for everyone there. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Stick with the Burgers 🍔! I know, I know!! But trust me!! (surprisingly delicious 😋 with their homemade buns)
Food wasn't horrible, but definitely not great. Garlic fries were very good, but the Asian style entrees were very bland. Portions were large and price was reasonable. Did not try any of the sushi, so cannot comment on that.
Ordered the salmon burger and the mushroom bacon cheeseburger with garlic fries Taste was great. Loaded with flavor The burger bun was also really good and seemed like fresh ingredients Fry's were super greasy and for $8 it didn't seem like a very good deal Burgers were also really skimpy and kind of expensive for what you got. Comparable to the size of In-N-Out but about $7 more. You don't mind paying a few bucks extra and aren't that hungry this place is pretty good Super laid-back relaxed atmosphere
No reservation over the phone or web, but not bad. Easy parking right in front and you can walk around while you wait. Once you register, you can check your position online with the link they text you, which is really nice. The waitress was really good and checking up and no heavy limitation on how many orders to start. Once ordered, food come out very fast. Only down side is that the pot takes forever to come to boil. Once it does, you'll be fine. I recommend don't start putting too much stuff into the pot until it is to boil. Good select on soup and meat. But so so on the dipping sauce. I don't usually care for seafood, and I thought the selection and quality of the seafood was so so. I dont live in the area so not likely to come back. But if I were to visit again, don't mind coming back.
From the moment my family walked in we felt uncomfortable.... we were not greeted....just asked if we wanted inside or outside seating.... when the "waitress" came to our table she was impatient about us getting our orders. The second time ⁸she showed up we asked about a description of an item in the menu, she immediately asked what else we wanted with it....she never returned with our meals.... the bussboy finally showed with or food and gave everyone the wrong plate.... and the no one even asked how the food was or acknowledged our table till the bussboy walked out with the bill... when we left they didn't even say goodbye all they asked was if we were paying cash....
A good place to grab a bite. Koala’s Fine Food offers delicious, creative dishes with fresh ingredients. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service make it nice for any meal. A good spot to try although the quality of the food could improve.

We ordered takeout last night. While the special veggie roll was fantastic, the hamachi sashimi was dull/grey, thin, tasteless, and chewy. Our hamburger was dry, chewy and the bun was stale and twice the size of the burger. The bun looked more like a large english muffin than a burger bun. I am a local who eats sushi all over Sonoma County (and the world) and have grown increasingly dissatisfied with the quality of Koala’s food over the years while watching their prices increase in direct proportion to my dissatisfaction. UPDATE: The next day, they comped me new sashimi, but I requested the salmon this time. The salmon was fresh, tasty, and sliced better 😊🙏🏻. The replacement burger however was unfortunately the same quality: dry, flat, tasteless meat with no grill marks served on an oversized chewy flat english muffin-like bun, which we hypothesized had been heated up in a microwave. In short: this is not a good burger restaurant and the sushi is inconsistent so just know what you’re ordering and check the food before you take anything home.

I've been going here since I moved here 9 years ago. I used to love this place. It was my number 1, go to restaurant in Guerneville. But in this past year I've noticed the prices go up and the food quantity and quality go way down. And the female staff are incredibly rude. Eye rolling, attitude and just ignoring you when you walk in. My go to was the jalapeño bombs. They used to be a good size. Now you get tiny ones with little to no crab inside. Again, food getting smaller, prices getting higher. When the owner is there, the staff is on their best behavior but when they are not there, the staff is rude and disrespectful. A lot needs to change before you start to lose all your local business.
This place used to be my go to. It was always a great meal and good service. Unfortunately the last couple years it's changed a lot and not for good. Our last two experiences are why we won't go back. They have been very disappointing service and food. Waiting 1 hour last time because we were forgotten out of the only two tables in the restaurant. Today is the last time we will go. They told us the description of an item and what it included didn't and we had to add it on. We did and paid way more than the menu. It was in the description of ingredients so it makes no sense. We paid an additional $10 for items in the description. The item I normally get Everytime and my only order has 1 substitution since I don't eat a particular ingredient. It's never been an issue they've always been kind. That's why I've never thought anything else about it. Today I was told no we can't do that. The server said she could ask but didn't think so. Then the other girl said no and explained that's never been done. I must have imagined the last couple years. They stood 5 feet from me having there own conversation about how it isn't even possible to exchange the proteins and how ridiculous it is because of the roll. I would not recommend going here. It was my favorite place in town before. Super sad.
Was waiting for 45 min for my rolls to be done. I went in and checked twice if it was going to take longer. We both started eating my roll and my boyfriend said his roll was better, that I shouldn’t eat mine. It was already too late and I started throwing up. We opened the remaining sushi there was old dark fish. Don’t go there! Long wait for for old fish
Where do I even start? The service at this place was an absolute disaster. We waited a grueling 1.5 hours for our food to arrive, only to find out—after I had to remind the server about our order—that it had been packed as a to-go order and was just sitting on the counter. Then they had the audacity to serve it to us in a to-go box at our table. Talk about lazy and unprofessional! As for the food, the veggie ramen was a complete letdown. For $18, I expected something fresh and flavorful, but it tasted like a cheap instant cup of noodles. Overpriced and underwhelming doesn’t even begin to cover it. Save your time and money—avoid this place at all costs!
They simply deceived us. We ordered two bento with beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki hoping that we had them like in their menu or like the photos shown here in previous reviews. Unfortunately, it was full of vegetables, having maybe with 20 gr meat in each. It was not tasty either, full of sweet teriyaki sauce… The salad in bento was so careless and tasteless… And, one bento is $28, can you just believe it? You pay this, but can’t eat even 50 gr protein. It was the worst Asian food experience for me.
We had fish and chips and it tasted like the oil it was fried in was very old. That was all you could taste is well used oil. 2nd time I've eaten there and the first time was equally as bad. I will never go back.
Terrible. Don’t do it. The server was nice and tried hard though seemed to not know the menu. Perhaps she was new. But nbd. It was the food that was just awful. We ordered the bento box lunch special . The miso soup was fine. Hard to mess up miso soup frankly. My tuna sashimi tasted like it was frozen, very watery. The pot stickers were deep fried and tasted like a reheated frozen food. My husband’s pork Katsu was extremely overcooked and dried up. The crab kani sushi prob came from the Safeway next door. I hate to leave a bad review but we went there based on good reviews so I feel I need to speak up. For $18 I would expect better. The Mexican place next door looked like a better choice.
I had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. While the atmosphere seemed nice at first, the service quickly became frustrating. After placing our order to go, we sat down then we waited… and waited… and waited. It took an entire hour for our food to arrive. During that time, there was little to no communication from the staff. No updates, no apologies, and no effort to check in on us. I understand that delays can happen, but the lack of communication and urgency made it feel like our time didn’t matter. I hope they improve their service, because no customer should have to wait that long without any explanation. The burger was half the size of the bun and cold, pickles seemed old and the fries were soggy. The sushi was definitely a highlight, solid meal alone but the miso soup was nothing special and on the colder side.
