Akdeniz Broadway Reviews
Great place fora romantic dinner. Service was friendly with comfortable and romantic setting. Started with some tasty apps that were accompanied by some warm pita. My wife had lamb over eggplant and I had the gyro. Her dish seemed small but mine was overloaded with meat. We eventually just shared to make sure we didn’t leave hungry.
This was a delightful find. Met family in the City and after having heard of this gem decided to give it a try. Warm accommodating service met with a generous menu with the majority being gluten free and the three of us loved what we ordered. The soups and entrees were absolutely delicious. Perfectly seasoned and generously portioned. This is a must return to restaurant.
The server was Aydin and he treated us well as soon as he met us and gave us the choice of table. We had ordered the chicken shish kebab, sultan’s delight, hummus and falafel. The chicken shish was moist and had beautiful flavour all the way down to the centre of the chicken breast cube. Exquisite. The sultan’s delight with lamb reminds you of home cooked comfort food cooked by your mother with love. The falafel was crispy on the outside but soft and flavoursome on the inside. Hummus was ok.
Very welcoming place! Attentive staff and quick service and fantastic food!! Highly recommend the cold sampler (small) all six dips were exquisite, and bottomless pita. The pita were toasty crisp on the outside, and soft and full on the inside - like the textures of a fresh bagel! Prices were very reasonable. We made a reservation 2hrs before going, and there were many openings, so we were a little worried, but the place was packed, so it can't be that big of a secret. Overheard 2-3 tables having the same reactions we had! I had the "Special Byeti" (think circular kebab enchilada), and the meat was WELL spiced! Along with the special sauce, yogurt and hot sauce brought to the table, and the remaining dips from the Cold Apps Sampler, it was an experience trying all the combinations. Can heartily recommend to anyone looking for authentic Mediterranean!
Akdeniz is an easy 10/10. I came in late, about half an hour before closing. I wanted the Iskender, but they were out of doner. They swapped in Adana kebab instead and it was unbelievable. Tender, flavorful, easily one of the best kebabs I’ve ever had. The tomato sauce with the yogurt and their fresh bread made the dish incredible. My father got the lamb shank but returned it because it was too tough. He ended up getting the iskender like me, and loved it. The service was good too. Even late at night the staff were warm and welcoming, and I never felt like they were rushing me out. Prices are reasonable for New York, especially considering the quality and how big the portions are.
Akdeniz (ahk-deniece) had a wonderful atmosphere, and even better service. The food was amazing – my companions and I had three different types of lamb, and we were thrilled with how tender and succulent the lamb was, yet how different the flavors of each dish were. I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite entree. The bread and appetizers were lovely as well: the baba ghanoush had a pleasantly smoky flavor, and the hummus was excellent. Strongly recommend this eatery for special occasions, a dinner date, or even brunch with friends. The service and food will thrill you, and the decor - or if you dine upstairs, the view - will delight you. Thank you to our server José, who was an absolute gem.
My Go-To Mediterranean Spot🍗🥗🧁 Never Lets Me Down Been coming to Akdeniz for ages now and honestly can’t fault it. The chicken chops are my usual order, always spot on. My mate swears by the calf liver which sounds grim but he’s onto something there. Prices are fair and everything tastes proper fresh. Whenever my family’s in the area, we end up here because it just works for everyone. Kids go straight for the fish, wife always gets the Greek salad (she’s predictable like that), and obviously we all fight over the baklava at the end. Staff is very professional too you can tell they actually give a toss about the food they’re putting out. Nothing revolutionary happening here, just good Mediterranean grub done right. That’s why I keep going back really.
We went with another couple. The Sangria was wonderful as was the large combo appetizer.. I had the Lamb Adana, delivered piping hot and in a timely manner. The hand chopped Lamb, seasoned with red bell peppers , char grilled on skewers, was tender and delicious. It came with white rice mixed with corn, shredded red cabbage and a charred Jalapeno pepper. The others in our party were as enthusiastic about their food as I. I finished the meal with Baclava, the others with Baclava stuffed with Turkish ice cream, which looked scrumptious. The yummy sounds emanating from the recipients confirmed it. We will definitely be back, perhaps as soon as this weekend. :)
Food was amazing. We ordered the lamb adana, lamb gyro donner plate and mixed appetizer plate. Everything was incredibly flavorful. The food portions were perfect and service was very attentive, friendly, and warm. I would return to this place anytime I am in midtown and we were stunned by how delicious everything was. Please go here. It is one of the best places for this cuisine in the city.
Perfecto 🙌 aquí te dejo la versión en inglés: ⸻ English Review: Super happy to visit New York and have the chance to try different foods from around the world. This time we delighted ourselves with a dessert called Katmer, recommended by Cali, a very attentive and friendly waiter. Definitely ask for him — he gives excellent suggestions! The service from all the staff and the food were simply perfect for the occasion. We will definitely be back. 😍
Absolutely loved this place! The food was incredibly tasty and fresh — full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The service was also decent, the waitress was friendly and attentive. Price and serving size was also proportionate. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for good Middle Eastern food.
Akdeniz, Mediterranean Sea in Turkish, by Times Square makes you one step closer to the Mediterranean coast. For over two decades, they offer authentic Mediterranean and Turkish experience with fresh and hearty healthy meals in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. With a wide selection of traditional flavors, each plate is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully seasoned. Silky smooth hummus and dips perfect for their pita. Grilled proteins are juicy and perfectly spiced. Staffs are friendly and passionate about the food which makes the experience much more special. Save room for their amazing rice pudding and delicious baklava’s! Make your way to Akdeniz for your next meal!
Underrated spot in midtown. We got calamari salad, shrimp sautee, and sultan’s delight. All of the meat was cooked perfectly (not too dry!) and flavored delightfully. The star of the show was the dessert! We loved the triangle baklava ice cream cake, every layer was so delicious, highly recommend!
We went there for dinner on Christmas. The restaurant was very busy but we got seated right away. The place was very clean. The service was very polite, precise and knowledgeable. We felt like we were taken care of the entire time. The food was great! It was very well prepared. We enjoyed every dish we ordered! Will definitely be back.
Nice Mediterranean spot, might want a reservation as it is a bit small. Excellent dessert selections and pastries. We enjoyed the calamari, hummus, and the mixed grill and decided the lamb chops were the best part. All of it was delicious but I would order just lamb chops next time, the mixed grill is a nice way to try several meats. The hummus and pita were very good as was the calamari and the sauce it was served with was very nice as well.
My wife and I had the Mediterranean salad, mixed grill, and okra. The okra was good, and the salad was delicious. I ordered the mixed grill to try different types of kebabs — the lamb chop was excellent, but the lamb and chicken kebabs were a bit hard and not very tender. Overall, I’d rate the food as medium. For dessert, we had tea and baklava, which were both good. The staff were friendly and professional. However, three things to note: 1. They charged for soda refills, which most restaurants don’t. 2. A 20% service charge was automatically added to the bill for just two people — something that’s not very common. So be sure to check your bill carefully. 3.An extra 3% charged for using credit card.i see this for the first time.
The service or food weren inherently bad, it took a bit to get the check but our server was kind! The food lacked flavor, I was surprised, but hummus was good and shrimp sautee was interesting. I didn't expect tomato soup with shrimp with a description of garlic shrimp... The cocktail was not well balanced (too much tequila) and the menu said Tahini vs Tajin- I wouldn't have ordered it if I knew it was taking :( waste of money. My guest ordered the salmon kabobs but they were wrapped in leaves and not on a stick. Not sure our server understood us but again not inherently bad food just wouldn't go again.
I had their puree of lentil soup, which was pleasing. For my main course I had their mixed meze platter. It included four of them including hummus, eggplant, a yogurt mixture, and baba ganouch. They offer five meze, but I chose to skip the spicy one in favor of more baba ganouch, which was my favorite, and what I thought was the most flavorful of the four. The back part of the restaurant was the most attractive, as seen in my picture of it. On another dine there I had a single order of baba ganouch ($11) which was followed by my main course of Turkish meatballs ($25). They are a combination of lamb and beef which was moist, tasty and delicious. On another visit there, a Sunday, the meatballs were overly salty and a little burned (blackened). The menu does not state that the meatballs come with two vegetables. Since they do, the waiter should have the courtesy to state that it comes with two vegetables and offer an alternative if you desire. My waiter did not do that, he just brought out two accompanying vegetables of the kitchen's choice. I tried their Lamb Adana on another visit there, it was spicy. I do not care for spicy food. Their gyro was bland and very dry.
