DD Soup Dumpling & Hibachi Broadway Reviews
We’ve went to DD Soup Dumpling twice so far. The first time was spontaneous as we wanted to grab a meal before a show. We’re a family of four (two adults, two school age kids) and ordered an assortment of dumplings and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. We decided to go back again specifically for the pork soup dumplings, which were a big hit. Our second time was just as good and they even treated us to a few surprise items since we mentioned that we were celebrating our eight year old’s birthday. It’s such a great spot, I kind of want to keep it a secret but they deserve good recognition. Thanks DD!
I love how eye-catching the decorations around the restaurant are! It gives a playful and welcoming atmosphere. The chefs are incredibly friendly and are masters of their craft—the shows are great for the kids! Additionally, the food here is great. 100% recommend this place!
Very underrated. This place was awesome and the food was great! The soup dumplings are delicious and their chicken dishes were more chicken than breading and you dont see that too often which is amazing. Great quality! I would eat there again for sure. Not a big restaurant though so if you go when its busy there may be a long wait. But Its definitely worth the wait!
This restaurant was exactly what I was looking for - efficient, clean, and hot/delicious food! I ordered the Miso soup and Ginger garden salad to start which was very tasty!!! We got the crab and pork soup dumplings, which were very flavorful and divine! I came with the sauce that gave it a nice touch. For our entrée, we got shrimp lo mein. and sesame chicken. On the menu it stated the shrimp lo mein was $15, although we were charged $16.50. The sesame chicken seemed to be rib meat, and potentially not 100% real chicken? The sauce was very flavorful, and still was very good! We got the hot sake, which was a nice touch to complete our meal. for the sake, the menu stated it was $10, but the waiter than expressed it was $12? I did not appreciate that they automatically charge gratuity, even for a party of two!!!!! they had limited seating, and my spouse, and I had to sit on high top barstools, which was relatively uncomfortable, but the quick wait time made it worth the wait. Prices are not too bad for being in the Time Square area, and would highly recommend to others!
Today I ordered pork soup dumplings and shrimp dumplings. Both were very tasty! The pork soup dumpling had a soft, thin wrapper with juicy pork and hot broth inside — be careful, it’s hot but so delicious! The shrimp dumpling had a thicker wrapper with a savory shrimp filling. It was chewy and full of flavor.😋😋😋
We found this restaurant walking from a play that my wife and I took our youngest daughter to see. This is a charming gem on 42nd St. The soup dumplings (we tried the pork and crab&pork dumplings) were something that I had not tried before and loved. We also had the spring rolls, chicken fried rice and general tso's chicken. But my favorite thing we ordered was the Someone Old Fashion. I love old fashions and this one is my current favorite. My eyes lit up and my wife immediately tried and then ordered her own. I highly recommend this place.
Veggie dumpling was good and it will set you back US$9.50. Service was good (though I waited awhile to get seated because hostess/server was preparing for another table’s drinks in the back kitchen) dumpling makers are in the middle of the restaurant for everyone to see/check out. Always fun to see! Didn’t care too much for the loud pop/commercial music. Caveat that they charged 18% (less than 6) or 20% (more than 6) gratuity automatically. As well, if paying by credit card, it is a 3% additional charge. Sanitary inspection is “grade pending”.
I visited this dim sum restaurant and tried their dim sum, mapo tofu, fried rice, and stir-fried noodles. Everything was incredibly delicious! The dim sum was perfectly steamed, with a soft and flavorful filling. The mapo tofu had just the right amount of spice and richness. The fried rice was well-seasoned and had a great texture. The stir-fried noodles were savory and satisfying. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves authentic flavors!
We came here on a Saturday night around 9 PM after another restaurant wasn’t accepting in-house orders. At first, we weren’t sure whether we wanted standard menu items or hibachi. We sat at a hibachi station and ordered hibachi, but the food was prepared in the kitchen instead of in front of us. That was on me—I should have clarified my preference. So, if you’re looking for the full hibachi experience, be sure to specify when ordering. That aside, the staff was incredibly warm and welcoming, and the food was excellent. One of the employees was especially kind and even gave my son a free drink. Another big plus is that this restaurant stays open later than many other spots in the area, so there’s no rush to finish your meal by 11 PM. I also really appreciated their transparency—when the check came, they clearly pointed out that the tip was already included, so there was no confusion. Some places add a tip without saying anything, but they made sure we were aware, which was a nice touch. Overall, I’d definitely come back when I’m in the area late at night. Great food, great service, and honest business practices!
Very friendly, nice atmosphere and the food was amazing. Loved the dumplings so much. I was dining alone and it was still a very pleasant experience. 18 % gratuity will be included in the price in the end (20% for groups bigger than 6). Still I think it is affordable and maintance a very good balance between taste, quality and price.
Awesome Hells Kitchen spot. So kind. Intimate setting. Great menu. Off the beaten path. Totally would come back.
It was a good place to go out for lunch or dinner. Me and my wife always go this place and we have a good meal with great taste.

I was cautiously optimistic and so glad we came here. SO good!! Fast service and loved the pork soup dumplings and the chicken lo mein.
Great food and service.\nThe pork dumpling soup was amazing. It was our first time having it, the server showed us how to eat it. \nHad lo Mein and our son loved it.

Fine food . Nothing special. Prompt service and reasonable price. It's across from the bus depot so good people watching out the window.

Second time to grab a quick bite at DD Soup Dumpling before going to a show. The place is a hole-in-the-wall, but clean and service is quick. Most guests appear to be out-of-town tourists or show g…
The quality of the food is absolutely horrible. The hibachi performance was mediocre. We had reservations and did not get seated for 20 min.

Tip of 18% is automatically added to bill and 3% credit card fee added to total bill I had the hibachi lunch- shrimp & beef. It was ok. Credit card fees 3% plus gratuities were added to thr bill automatically. I started feeling extremely thirsty after the meal😒
Stopped in for a quick dinner. The hibachi was delicious and the service was wonderful. We also got the soup dumplings, which we great. The chicken dumplings were just okay and we didn't really care for the fried udon or the vegetable noodle soup. But overall we liked it.
Pre show dinner with family while visiting NY. Great location relative to the Broadway theaters. We had reservations for hibachi, but not needed. We were the only group having hibachi the entire …
The soup dumplings weren’t bad, but one was stuck to the liner and tore when I picked it up, so the filling spilled out. And what’s a soup dumpling without the filling? Lol. The Shu Mai was pretty bland. Service was good, but I really didn’t appreciate that they added gratuity to the bill for a party of one. Overall, I wouldn’t come back.
Across from Port Authority and in the Time Square area, this place must be a favorite for tourists. In our opinion everything was way over price. The way staff was very quick and friendly, no complaints there. We would agree that the soup dumplings were very good. The seafood was overcooked, and the vegetables didn't seem to be the best. To us, this place is in desperate need of a dining room makeover. If I find myself in this place, we will never order the house one again. We don't intend to go there again.
