Mitch's Seafood Broadway Reviews
Great spot. It’s definitely not well advertised and if you’re not specifically looking for this place, you likely won’t notice it. On the main side of the building, all you see is a bait shop. You have to be all the way to the left (east) side to even see a sign and entrance. Despite that, it’s fairly crowded and there’s a line to order. The food is well priced, prepared with love, and definitely fresh. This is the place for seafood lovers. I had lobster, clam chowder, salad, and mussels. The chowder wasn’t that creamy but lots of clams. Mussels were also not super plump. But the lobster was very fresh and well done. I’d be back to try the grilled fish next time.
We heard about Mitch's on someone's blog and are so glad we went after whale watching. The view is perfect, the beer selection varied and good, the line moves quickly and there weren't just "fish tacos" but you got to choose your fish variety and they explained the different ones, even though it was busy. All was so fresh and yummy! We recommend the poke which was "melt in your mouth tuna". The grilled rockfish tacos were also really good with loads of fish in each. Get several things to try and enjoy the harbor view for a while!
Excellent spot, great food and was definitely nice to be sitting at the outdoor bar looking across the marina as the sun went down. Had the mixed seafood platter, my boy got the halibut sandwich, daughter the fish and chips and my wife the shrimp. One word of warning, if you're seated out past the overhang, the gulls will try and swoop in on you they said.
Amazing food, amazing service and beautiful views!! JUST order ahead can be a 45min wait for the food but it’s worth it!! The signs for the seagulls are true! I was attacked 2x so pick a seat if not inside then under the sun shade outside.. very edge seats the birds will get your food! 😆 we had a great experience overall and will definitely go back!
This was so good we came here twice. This small restaurant has some amazing food options that will leave you very, very satisfied. Price is a bit high, especially for the grilled options, but they are absolutely worth it. Staff is also very friendly, helpful and nice. It is very busy, we were lucky to find a place. I can't even imagine how busy it is in summer. My favorite was the Fisherman's Stew, an absolute must if you come here. Also safe for celiacs and people with gluten allergy, only a few options are not gluten free in the menu and they are very much aware of them. Fisherman's Stew: 10/10. Please order it if you come here, it will blow your mind. Whole lobster: 10/10. Amazing flavor, sides also very, very good. Grilled wahoo: 8/10. It is amazing, but honestly a bit pricey given the portion size.
Just take my word for it…… best seafood spot in San Diego!!!!. We’ve come several times and it’s been amazing every time. Today we came and had breakfast for the first time and had crabs Benedict. Oh my goodness unbelievable! The photo only does justice to show that it was so good we couldn’t stop to take a photo before
This place is an absolute gem! We had the chowder soup and it was super good and full of amazing taste. We also tried the Spiny Lobster which was cooked perfectly, super fresh and flavorful. Their lemonade stood out! My husband had the wahoo fish and he loved it. The view while eating is also incredible. Highly recommended if you are a seafood lover.
There is no competition with the restaurant next door because Mitch's is the clear winner, especially since I had both restaurants back to back. Mitch's has a more thought out menu and full kitchen. The quality really shows as well. The Fisherman's stew is a real star. It's very tomato forward and has tons of seafood for the price. The clam chowder is also fully loaded. Looking forward to coming back. There are a couple spots in the parking lot that have free parking for 1hr.
Outstanding world class place. Cannot fault it. Fresh right off the pier fish. Amazing range of options. Can eat while sitting on decking of said pier looking out to sea. I got mixed sea platter. Fam chose fish and chips. Next time I’ll try clam chowder. I don’t want to call it Michelin star as then those snooty types (I’m the exception lol) will start coming in and spoil the vibe!
Cool vibe and a super cozy place. We stopped by to grab some food before our friends left to fly back to Pennsylvania Thanksgiving weekend. Food didn’t take long at all. The beer bettered fish taco was amazing. My hubby got their fish platter and it was huge. Their outdoors was cute too and they had heaters. If we didnt have kids in our group we would have sat outside for sure.
It's your typical by-the-dock dining experience. It's much better of eating outside looking at the boats than sitting inside. Yes, seating is rather limited and the tight space will get crowded during peak. If you do order fried stuff like I did, please don't have it to go. It doesn't so the chef justice. The food has great flavor and incredible portion. I ordered the seafood platter: 3 pieces of shrimps, 1 crab cake, 1 piece of fish and a lot of fries. My recommendation to the restaurant would be cut the amount of the fries by half and put in extra piece of fish. Generally, the experience was pleasant and the staff were friendly. From the pics, you can tell that they care about the environment.
I stopped by this place for lunch in Point Loma after seeing how highly rated it was on Google, and it definitely seemed popular. Even on a weekday afternoon, the place was bustling with people. One thing to note: there’s no free parking — the lot next to it is paid, and they do not validate, so be prepared to pay for parking. The restaurant has a very casual, self-service setup. You walk in, read the menu written on a chalkboard, place your order, take a number, and find your own seat. The menu isn’t huge, but it offers a solid mix: fried seafood plates, stews, grilled fish, sandwiches, and a few taco-style options. Everything is based on fresh catch, which is a big plus. I couldn’t decide at first — the grilled lobster and soups looked great — but I eventually chose the mixed seafood platter, which was a giant fried assortment served with coleslaw and fries. The portion was huge, definitely enough to share. It included shrimp, calamari/tentacles, a big crab cake, and a couple pieces of fried fish (likely cod or another white fish). Everything was very fresh, crispy, and delicious, but extremely filling since everything is fried. It came with lemon wedges and tartar sauce, which helped cut the richness. Next time, I might try the fisherman’s stew or one of the grilled options, but this was still a satisfying pick. The outdoor deck seating is a bonus — you get a nice view of the marina with lots of boats and ocean breeze. Just be mindful of seagulls and pigeons; they are bold and will absolutely try to steal food. The overall vibe is very laid-back, more like a seafood shack than a formal restaurant. Fresh seafood, generous portions, casual atmosphere — definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.
One of the only places I’ll go to for seafood! Everything is fresh, and it’s all reasonably priced. This is the place to go if you just want good seafood and a serene view without the frills of an overpriced dine-in experience. If you sit on the deck, be prepared to defend your plate. Seagulls are ruthless but the view is so relaxing and I promise your food won’t last long on your plate anyway. I love the grilled shrimp skewers and I never leave without one kind of fish taco and a golden fried fillet. Fry basket shrimp are yuge. Also Matt who works there is rad!
Food was good, not too much seasoning so you really taste the freshness of it all. However they do condiments and seasonings at every table so you can adjust to your liking. I just got the fried platter and the campechana. Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying their other dishes.
My mom amd I decided to come try Mitch's. The Spiney Lobster was very good. Mom had the Fried Combo. She was not really liking the Crab Cake (we are from the East Coast and she is a snob about Blue Crab Lump Crab Cakes). We were told that the fish was cooked with a Panko Crust not Beer Batter. However, she LOVED the shrimp!! And apparently, so do the seagulls! Hahaha! We were seated outside facing the Harbor and 2 swooped down and 1 grabbed the shrimp right out of mom's hand! She smacked it! But he got away with the goods! LOL! One of the guys that worked there saw what happened and brought over the stickers along with a replacement shrimp (which was super nice of them). We will be back!! The staff was awesome, kind and attentive! I recommend!
Had a great lunch here while in SD. Might be our new go to place as the food was excellent and service relatively quick despite being busy. Seating is limited both inside and outside but worth the wait if necessary. Reasonable prices, great selections and a variety of beverages as well.

Casual spot with good quality and nice views. - Crab cakes 5/5 - these really stood out and were perfectly cooked - Fish tacos (grilled and fried) 4/5 - these were great but don’t necessarily stand out in San Diego. - Calamari 3/5 - lacked seasoning and didn’t care for the dipping sauce but was of good quality - Grilled rockfish 3/5 - cooked nicely and was high quality but also lacked seasoning and the herb verde was lackluster. Coleslaw was nice however.

Don't let looks of this restaurant fool you. It was a great food, good service. Be advised that there can be long lines and the servings are huge! I had the crab cakes salad.

Food was great - recommend shrimp taco honestly better than other 3 types of fish tacos imo. And fried calamari was also great. Reason why I rated this place low is because of the section of the outdoor seating that really shouldn't be availble to sit at because of the pigeons and seagulls aiming at your food all the time. It's sort of on us also though to not wait out the indoor seating but either get more protection for the outdoor seating or make it obvious of the risks before sitting because it was quite unpleasant to move in the middle of the meal.
The food tasted decent. I thought the seafood was fresh, but for the price I was expecting more flavor. I likes the grilled shrimp, but I would probably pass on the halibut fish taco, avocado crab toast, and shrimp cocktail. Atmosphere was fine, and the service I would say was good. Next time I want to try the mussels and clams.
My daughter discovered this spot, and the five of us dropped in for dinner. It has a very authentic feel with a wide variety of seafood listed on a wall-mounted board. The setup is similar to a fast-food restaurant: you order at the counter first, and they bring the food to your table. Because we arrived at night, we missed out on the views of the small pier and boats. While the oysters, clams, calamari, and fish and chips looked wonderful, the flavors were underwhelming. It tasted as though the deep fryer oil hadn't been changed recently, which was a letdown given how busy the place was.
Food was okay but most was kind of greasy. Service was fast as can be expected considering how crowded it was. They have a decent selection of food and drinks. Seating is very limited. Overall, I don't think it's worth returning to eat there unless w can find a time that isn't as busy. Mostly due the restaurant size not being able to handle the crowds. That issue alone makes it overrated. They seem to be a victim of their own success. There's both and table seating as well as inside and outside bar style seating. The location is okay if you're into looking at a marina. Parking was atrocious.
When we arrived there was no parking. We had to park down the street. There was a line outside of the restaurant. You wait in line to order, and then you can sit down. I liked that you couldn’t sit without a number. We ordered the crab cakes and that was probably our favorite item from dinner. My husband ordered the sea bass sandwich. The fish was sparse for such a big sandwich we made just one sandwich with it. There wasn’t really anything amazing about the flavor and the fish was rather dry. I ordered the cheeseburger and there wasn’t no flavor. Luckily I added bacon because that added some flavor.
