Rambling House Bronx Reviews
I've really liked going to Rambling House ever since they opened, but I appreciate them even more now! The whole place is spotlessly clean and tables are spaced more than far enough apart. There are partitions between seating areas at the bar and the staff all wear masks. This was my first meal out in over a year and I felt safe being there.
We love this Irish bar. The food is delicious and they couldn’t be nicer. Every time we come here from colorado, we visit the Rambling House. Thank you Joe and Peter for your warm Irish hospitality and making sure we got back to the city!! Jim and I will be back on our next visit.
I have been to Rambling House about 10 times since the pandemic hit and each time has been better than the last! The staff is amazing, friendly, efficient and welcoming. The food is amazing! From the burgers to the ribs to the calamari or mesculen salad, you cannot go wrong! The Godiva Hot Chocolate? Again, a winner. Even the owners are friendly, stop by your table to thank you for coming and share a good joke or ask how your meal was. I will be a patron of this establishment hopefully for years to come!
Nice atmosphere and clean. The staff are phenomenal !! Very friendly, helpful, courteous and hard working. The managers are available and walk around checking on the customers. A good variety of food choices. The food is tasty and plentiful. And the prices are quite reasonable. A enjoyable experience.
Great place to grab a pint, watch a game, and listen to some of the best local Irish bands around. Glad to see there are still bars that get it right. The French Onion Soup is a personal favorite.
Being Irish I've been to a lot of Irish bars around the world and still have never ever experienced such a warm, welcoming atmosphere in any bar anywhere! Staff and owners made me feel like family since the second I arrived, highly recommend, plus the kitchen has some great good portioned food!
Mike Rooney and Davitt Barrett redefine busboy brilliance! These dynamic duo busboys bring an unparalleled enthusiasm to clearing tables – their synchronized moves and ninja-like precision create a dining experience like no other. If there was an award for the 'Most Outstanding Busboys,' these two would undoubtedly take the cake. Five stars for the Rooney and Barrett show, turning mundane table clearing into a spectacular performance. And to top it all off in my humble opinion these two wonderful men should get a raise for the outstanding and wonderful work they do for this fine establishment.
Love it here. Fresh hot food. Clean with friendly hostesses and waiters/waitresses and is very affordable. The kids ask to go there every sunday when we are trying to decide where to go for brunch. And they have plenty of tvs to play your favorite teams games.
Stopped in on a whim for a bite and a beer. Didn't realize that st Patrick's month has begun and there was a great crowd, traditional Irish band and most important of all a Happy crowd having a great time.
I came along and found this Gem visiting my cousin last week. I decided to stop by again a week later because the food was soo good and the service was amazing! It did not disappoint, they got a customer for life!
I had my daughter's sweet 16 there. It was Wonderful . Our theme was old Hollywood they put up the decoration for me it was perfect. The food and the service was excellent. We had a wonderful time.
Every meal here is a great experience with great food. The staff is warm and friendly always! Another eatery just down the block was not nice at all...walked to Rambling House and the great energy made us forget that unkind pizza spot! The Godiva hot chocolate and bbq ribs were delish! I'll be back. Thanks Rambling House!
From the soup, & appetizers it started out as a great meal. I had dinner there with my wife, & son, it was awesome, the server was excellent. Dessert finished off a great meal. Thanks Rambling House, we will be back.
amazing food and friendly service, regular live music, theres a great mix of customers here, very chilled out, relaxed neighborhood bar, we often go here with our toddler, totally suitable for families! try the nachos, i also love the chipotle chicken wrap and their summer cocktails.
Second time my husband and I have had private parties here and I am beyond happy with the service . They are so helpful, accommodating , and genuinally nice . The manager Tara is the nicest person I've ever had the pleasure of planning with. She went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing party for my children. The food was so good, people at the party loved it. The first time we had a party here was 2 years ago and we didnt get to use the party room but we still had a nice space. This time we booked the party room and I recommend it to everyone. We had about 100 people there and it was very comfortable, well lit with skylights and air conditioned on a really hot day . The room is a great size with a private bar and the staff are friendly and efficient. They let us decorate our trolls themed party however we wanted and assisted us alot. They cleaned up everything afterwards and we werent rushed to leave after the party. Would definitely book more events here. Party turned out perfect.
I've never been here before. Only to the bars on McLean. The food was real good here. I had the reuben to try something different and it was good. My friend had the chicken fingers and they were good, not microwaved. And our other friend had chipotle chicken wrap. Service was great. Sorry I forgot her name, she was blonde. We sat outside. They seemed to ne keeping everyone safe.
LOVED GOING THERE BACK IN THE DAY. MEANING A FEW YEARS AGO. WENT FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS. "BEAUTIFUL" ME & MY HUSBAND BACK THEN, UNTIL HE GOT SICK. JUST ONE QUESTION WHERE IS THE SEAFOOD? THE SHRIMP IN THE SOUP AND SURF & TURF WAS "DELICIOUS"!
We had reserved the dining room for a private event. The whole process was easy and smooth from beginning to end. They were very efficient in executing the seating, food preparation, serving and all other requests we had. Staff was very accommodating and did a great job setting everything up. The food was very good and tasty. The price was very reasonable and affordable. Overall they did an excellent job! We would definitely recommend The Rambling House!!
Great food/service and fried Oreos!
Dave and James have great service.. feels like I'm visiting family.
So, I popped into The Rambling House and let me tell you, it was a pristine experience. The culinary delights were simply exquisite, each dish crafted to perfection. As for the service, it was impeccable. The staff were the epitome of courtesy and grace, elevating the entire dining affair. It's a gem in the Bronco that you just can't miss! 🌟
First time here my husband and I loved it It’s roomy great food and service , looking forward to coming again
The specials on football Sunday are great. Football plays on big screen tvs. Service is good. We had a large party and they were very cool with us.
Great friendly atmosphere and clean. Recently had a retirement party here and was amazed at how perfect everything went. Tara and Marie are phenomenal!! Extremely professional and courteous. Even helped hang decorations and place centerpieces on tables. Waitresses and bartender Steve are very friendly, helpful, and hard working. The food for our buffet style event was tasty and plentiful. Some guests even took food home. During the gathering, Tara was readily available and walked around checking up on us to ensure everything was ok. The prices were quite reasonable for package we selected. An overall enjoyable experience for all 45 guests. I will definitely go back with my family and even host other catering events here!
A consistently friendly and welcoming place that is also exceptionally beautiful inside.
My work had our holiday party here a few nights ago and it was my first time at the Rambling House. The first thing that I noticed was how large it is - the main area is very spacious with a large rectangular bar and plenty of tables/seating around the perimeter. I believe I saw an area for playing darts in the back corner. There are two separate rooms that both had private parties running (ours was one of them). All of the staff was really friendly and the place is nicely decorated for the holidays. The food we had was pretty good too.
Best Guiness on tap around! Lol Food was great, waitress Sarah was prompt and friendly.
I made my first visit to the Rambling House today and was very happy that I went there. I was welcomed by the manager and server. The food was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. I will be back!
Our family funeral repass was held here for 50 ppl, and the atmosphere and service were excellent. The decor was beautiful. We have to return here.
As soon as I arrived to the USA on 2nd June from Ireland I came to this bar reccommended by my cousin. There just so happened to be a trad session and I joined in with my concertina for a few tunes. Really brilliant vibe and great pulled pork sambo. Will be back
great place to chit chat and have a nice bite to eat. It is best to go during the week if your looking for a comfortable, mellow, chill night with friends and or a significant other. Fri-Sat is more of a younger kids /college nights from my experience. It so has a good american cuisine. The burgers are amazing. It is also a great place to meet people and socialize. Overall, if anyone stumble upon the place... I sure you, you will have a good time
To all the bartenders and staff of the rambling house! I must say that you guys did an amazing job during today’s McLean Avenue St. Patrick’s Day parade festivities. You guys were patient and extremely helpful with each and everyone of us. I thank you all for your excellent and valiant customer service. Until next time. Blessings! As for the food and drinks, they were excellent. I cannot stop thinking about the corn beef sandwich and fries that was consumed today. For anyone looking to have a wonderful day or night out with friends and or family, the rambling house is the place to go. Check it off your bucket list when visiting Woodlawn. Thank you all!
Outstanding service, fantastic array of food, friendly staff. Wonderful atmosphere. Looking forward to next visit!
Just had a sprinkle for my daughter at the rambling house & it was fantastic!! The staff , the food the atmosphere couldn't have been better ! We all had a wonderful experience T the rambling house ! Thank you 💕
Went here for a retirement party, the restaurant is clean and the staff is attentive and on top of these duties. Service with a smile. I will definitely return for another meal and a cold pint.
The largest tap variety in Irish Woodlawn can be found at Rambling House. They offer solid pub food, with some unique offerings found among their sandwiches and burgers. Rambling House is large with plenty of seating indoors and out. They have loads of screens inside and outside for the main events of the sporting world. Clean, well maintained, and good service. There are many renowned pubs and public houses in the Bronx, and Rambling House is among them.
Good food, convivial staff, lots of TVs for sports watching. Irish pub vibe.
GREAT IRISH PUB !!! This place is awesome!! The staff is amazing, hard working , and very friendly. The drinks , The food , The live irish music, The vibe, all 100% amazing!
I recently attended a birthday party at this venue, and it was an absolute delight! The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The diverse menu catered to different tastes, ensuring there was something for everyone. What truly stood out was the exceptional service provided by the staff. They were not only professional but also incredibly friendly and accommodating. Every request was met with a smile, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. It's rare to find such a dedicated and customer-focused team. The setup of the venue was impressive, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The attention to detail in the decor added a touch of elegance to the celebration. The spacious layout allowed for comfortable mingling and dancing, contributing to the overall positive vibe of the party. I would highly recommend this venue for any event. The combination of fantastic food, outstanding service, and a welcoming ambiance makes it a top choice for celebrations. Thank you to the entire team for making the birthday party a memorable and joyous occasion!
Everything about Rambling house is invites you to come again. It is a cozy spot with great authentic Irish food and wine. The music is upbeat and the staff has got to be the best part as they take special care to meet and exceed your expectations.
It's a nice environment; not sure if "classy" is the word, but spacious for sure. they have live music often and when it's not too crowded it can be nice. Too crowded makes it not so fun to be in unless you like club type atmospheres. Overall I like it.
Very reasonable prices. Great fun atmosphere. Very attentive staff. Great live music. Highly recommend for group gatherings or just a night out. Multiple rooms if one has a large group or wants to organize a party. Plenty of tvs's to watch your favourite sports, including 2 large projector screens. Basically, this establishment has it all.
We’ve held multiple events at the Rambling House. Without fail the food is very good, the rooms are beautiful and the service is outstanding.
I’ve been coming here with coworkers on occasion for a couple years and we keep coming back for the food, drinks, and service. Tonight I walked in with a birthday cake to celebrate a friend and the hostess immediately offered to refrigerate it until we would like it brought to the table. When I asked for it, they brought it out singing with a huge sparkler candle. In addition, my friend accidentally ordered a non vegetarian soup and did not realize until it came to the table. The waitress was more than polite by offering the soup to the rest of the table and the soup was removed from the bill. I am also so glad to see their cocktail menu back. The service you get here is a rare find in NYC. Thank you for putting your customers first!
Very vibrant upbeat atmosphere. Their chicken quesadillas were the best I've ever had and it was at the bar.
We went to the Rambling House for the first time Friday, December 5th 2025, drove up from Long Island to see our friends the Diddley Idols!! We had a great time here with The bingo and trivia and Brian our bartender was absolutely amazing!! We had a great time at your bar and restaurant and I love that you have the Ranger flag hanging out front!! Go Rangers!!! I just want to say thank you….We had a really great time last night.!! Merry Christmas and happy new year!!! Maria&kevin
Great pub in the heart of the Bronx's Little Ireland. Friendly servers and great food and drink. Don't sleep on the mussels appetizer.
I can't say enough great things about this place. The food is delicious, the drinks are made quickly - and made well! - but the PEOPLE are some of the kindest, most generous folks around. They simply don't make places like this anymore! Every event we've been to has been a 10/10, and I cannot overstate how generous the owners, servers, managers & wait staff are!!
Love the atmosphere at this Irish pub. Our server was kind, friendly, and attentive. The sandwiches we ordered were delicious. Found off street parking near the restaurant. Would definitely return!
Authentic Irish Food and Beverages. Wonderful Irish Pub. Shout out to Sally the Server. BEST ever. Thank you for all your Hospitality. We will be back. Highly Recommended.
Fun evening out! 4 tap specialty drinks for $29 total?! Great music, interesting patrons, attentive staff. Will def come back for food next time!
I was already a frequent diner at Rambling House and decided to have my baby shower there. It did not disappoint! The food was excellent and the staff was beyond kind and helpful. The private room is absolutely gorgeous. Once the doors to the bar area were closed, you couldn’t hear anything and it felt like a completely separate venue. The manager and owner checked on us and they were absolutely lovely. The price was extremely reasonable. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a venue for a party.
CLOVER GUINESS! see photos attached. Been coming here for years, especially during the pandemic. It’s like they knew they had to step their game up during and after the pandemic because small businesses were closing for good. QUALITY food, cold beer, FULL bar, COLD a/c & FRIENDLY/WELCOMING staff.
We have been many times and its always a lovely experience. Went there today for Easter brunch/ dinner, around 3/4pm. Food was great. The lamb was delicious. But most of all the hostess, waitress and owner were fabulous. They were so accommodating and welcoming. They always make you feel welcome. And there was a bunny serving drinks ...the best!!
Great place to watch football on Sunday, especially if you have a kid. The brunch food is pretty good and they know how to pour a Guinness the right way. Prices are reasonable too. Most of the staff is very nice.
It's a nice family friendly spots with a good beer selection and good food options. I will especially give them credit for the pretzels and the Irish Burger and if you go early, the black and white sausages. The place is divided so you have a straight up bar area, an area for you to have dinner and meetings, then a back area which is used for special events but is also good to use as a spot for people to watch a game while the main area is used for trivia nights which is on Thursdays. Got to see this recently with the Rangers playoff games. This place is also used by politicals and people using for special events as this is the top spot in Woodlawn.
I love this place. Cozy Irish bar with decent food. Live Music, Trivia & a great bar staff just adds to the experience. Jimmy the Bartender is a Classic.
I was there for a family gathering. Our entire party had the sampler platter. The entrees were divided with fish and chips, the rib dinner, and the salmon salad. The Guinness was from the tap and not Stout as asked for. It was not good. The fish was cod but not seasoned. Needed malt vinegar which was brought to the table. Wished for some hot sauce. The servers were really nice and took care of us.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Outside dining was acceptable, though this is one of the many restaurants operating under the delusion that having the tables six feet apart is acceptable. It should be six feet between people seated at those tables, but we we there for lunch so it was not a problem. Asked for no bacon on the salad, but it came with bacon. My vegetarian wife survived. Ultimately I think it was probably good for her, lol. My hamburger was excellent. Fries were absolute perfection. We both had a lavender gin and tonic which was top notch, but a tad sweet for my taste. Service was excellent and swift. The interior looks like a great place to spend a cold evening with a pint and a warm bowl of curry. Highly recommend. But for the bacon this would be a five star review.
The food for the most part is good. The drinks are okay. Its a great date place. There's live music .
Atmosphere was fun.. staff was great... burger was good, $1 extra for curly fries was totally not worth it. Free trivia night was fun.. parking not good $6 for a Heineken draft seems like a deal to me. I'll return I think... this visit was only 15 years in the planning 😎
First time going here. Here is my personal review. My party ordered: Harp lager 5/5 Pretzel 5/5 Beer cheese 3/5 (too curdy for my liking and as well as party I came with) Tenders: 4/5 recommend to fry a little less Mozzarella sticks 4/5 Whiskey cranberry 5/5 Service from (I believe Kayla or something in that vicinity) 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Would definitely come back to try other food.
Fun pub / sports bar packed with the welcoming Irish American locals of the Woodlawn section of the Bronx. Good draft beers, hearty Irish breakfast, fish n'chips, stews. Love the choice of padded leather booths, the bar, or high tops (also outdoors in nice weather). The terrific staff checks in on newcomers often! Plus large portions, great prices, great for all ages. Fun.
Est. 2002 Layout/atmosphere *Irish bar; oval bar in center of the room; 14+ TVs; high tables, booths, tables; party room; photos of Ireland and NYC on the walls; Trivia Thursdays; live music Friday-Sunday; tables on sidewalk under awnings Service *Jovial bartenders Food/drink *Gaelic Burger (Irish cheddar, Irish bacon) with fries - Good; juicy patty; fries crisp *Guinness on tap
The servers were nice. A nice assortment of beers. The food was passable. But that was for a big party. French fries were pretty dried up. Good place to have an after work drink with pals.
An average grade at most. Not a great outing. Beer is not really cold, food is just Ok, service is decent, nothing more to say.
It was ok I guess. Over priced sports bar with no servers. Very spacious; however, had the feel of a local bar. The staff was hospitable and the crowd was pleasant. Did not have to worry about b/s drama. In the places deffence, we did show up late where we really could not enjoy the place regards to the food ending up going to a different place.
Wait staff are hard workers and considerate. The food is pretty typical Irish pub food - not as good as some & better than others. Chicken drumsticks are good, chicken tenders are too breaded. Decent selection of beer on tap. Atmosphere is comfortable, large groups can hang without feeling pressured but not a place for a date.
Great atmosphere, lovely staff. But the food was not fresh. Chicken tenders for kids were very thick and kids did not touch them. Everything just tasted frozen and reheated. Drinks were great, beer fresh.
Food and drinks were just average. This location is packed as it had a huge bar. We came in as a group of 4 to eat dinner, wait was about 15 minutes. Derive wasn’t super consistent, they didn’t come by to check on us much, i believe because they were so busy. My burger and fries was good but the bottom was so wet that I couldn’t pick it but and ended up using a fork/knife. The nachos tasted okay but were a bit odd with tomato sauce on them. I would not order those again. Decor for Christmas season was beautiful. It’s super laid back, but a little loud because it is a bar.
Bartenders are rude and ignore you. They forget items you ordered just a terrible experience and mind you ive been here before and had great experiences but tonight was jus on another level of rudeness
We were there for a piano recital. There were probably 180 people in attendance. The salads were served at 6:30, we didn't get the main course until 8:30. They only had two waitress for this many people. Three people at our table ordered a medium rare steak. They were all well done. When they got around to serve cake and coffee most of the people had left. The kids were supposed to get ice cream. When we asked for it they said they didn't have any. Never again!! Stay away from this place!
