Brooklyn Roasting Company Brooklyn Reviews
I have been coming here since it opened. Great place to end a run or bike ride. Also good people watching if you want to see people running or cycling to work. Coffee is solid.
I’m pretty sure this is the best coffee in the 5 boroughs. Working in the Navy Yard can sometimes feel like a desolate experience, a desert of good food and beverage nearby, certainly within walking distance, but Brooklyn Roasters’ iced lattés get me through each day with a little bit of happiness.
My go-to spot for budget-friendly coffee beans that taste amazing. So many options, 1 lb for $15 when you reuse their coffee tins. Their nitro coffee is on point. It's bitter, strong and foamy like a Guinness beer.
I was very upset when they took the nitro brew off of the menu. Lots of great beans to choose from and sourced from all over the world. Not cheap but a quality product. They also have lots of merch for sale. Is a great variety brewing vessels and coffee grinders.
I love this coffee shop. They have fast service and their pastries are really delicious. I pop in every morning to grab a cold brew on my way to work and they also have a selection of food items for quick bites like sandwiches and yogurts.
Sultan Murad IV of the Ottoman Empire outlawed coffee, calling it an indecent drink, and let's just say the punishments were draconian. I would gladly accept whatever punishment for the coffee here. Smooth, rich notes; it is always on point. I have never had a bad cup here. The fact that they give you a discount for replenishing tins of coffee speaks volumes about their sustainability efforts. Whoever is in charge of training does a phenomenal job; like I said, never a bad cup! A solid A plus all the way, erm, I mean five stars!
Great place to chill. Staff is cool. Not usually packed. I only come here for coffee. They have a space for pastries which has been empty every time I been there so idk.
Love the variety of coffee beans here and love being able to support a local business chain. The fact that they roast their beans here in New York, on site is amazing and provides for an insanely fresh cup. Brooklyn Roasting Company beats the heck out of Starbucks in all categories. The people who work in the various locations are all very friendly and have a great sense of humor. I talked with one barista the other day about the Eric Andre show for 10 minutes while he prepared 7 various cups of espresso drinks for my crew and I over at Steiner Studios. We laughed together as we reminisced over the absurdity of said talk show host's show. Ive always had great encounters with the staff. Support local!
Only favorable impressions 😁 I didn’t ask the name, but I remember the beautiful face of this girl ! Service was so good! Thanks for coffee!
Awesome place with delicious coffee. Awesome staff and merch as well. We were visiting Brooklyn from Florida but will always come back here when we go to New York. Everyone needs to try the maple shay.
DELICIOUS COFFEE!!! Didn't try any food but everything was reasonably priced. Clean, quiet, relaxed seating areas. Friendly attentive staff.
Brooklyn Roasting Company is truly a standout in the world of specialty coffee. From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by a warm, vibrant atmosphere that perfectly blends Brooklyn’s creative spirit with a genuine passion for quality coffee. The space itself is inviting and relaxed, with an industrial-chic design that makes it a perfect spot for both catching up with friends and finding a quiet corner to work or read. The coffee here is absolutely exceptional. Brooklyn Roasting Company clearly takes pride in sourcing the finest beans and roasting them to perfection. Whether you’re ordering a simple drip coffee, a smooth and rich espresso, or one of their more creative seasonal drinks, every cup is crafted with skill and consistency. You can truly taste the difference in quality and freshness. Beyond the coffee, the staff is another highlight of the experience. Friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they do, the baristas are always happy to make recommendations or customize your drink to your preferences. Their passion for coffee and customer service really adds to the overall welcoming vibe. Additionally, Brooklyn Roasting Company offers a small but thoughtfully curated selection of pastries and light bites that pair beautifully with their drinks. Everything feels authentic, fresh, and prepared with care. Overall, Brooklyn Roasting Company is much more than just a coffee shop — it's a true community hub for coffee lovers. Whether you're a casual coffee drinker or a serious aficionado, this place delivers a five-star experience every time. Highly recommended for anyone looking for outstanding coffee in a cool, laid-back setting!
Such a wonderful place — everything was perfect from start to finish
Love Brooklyn Roasting Company! I always get my beans here and they have so much variety to choose from, along with a refill station where you can bring the same cans to refill. Sometimes I get a free coffee when I refill my beans, but it depends on who’s working. The baristas are always friendly and it’s a great place to get some work done.
Brooklyn roasting. Brooklyn roasting has always been my go-to place whenever I am at Steinway Studios. The folks that work there are all really cool and hip and it's just a wonderful place to have some coffee have a wonderful soda or just one of their little pastries. You can come in and spend a little time and you can spend a lot of time. The bathrooms are always clean and there is always wonderful conversation and just cool vibes. Also please tip these wonderful folks because they work really really hard. During our strike they let us use the bathrooms which is just wonderful cuz a lot of times folks just don't want to get involved with something as horrible as a strike. Please let them know that I gave you guys a wonderful review and please hit that like button continue to subscribe and have a great day bye thank you.
Best cup of coffee in New York. Believe when I say you can taste the difference, fresh, smooth. Bring a reusable cup, and and get a few cents off your order! Get some beans for home if ya can’t make it to the coffee shop, the tin is cute and reusable 🤗
Great place to stop for coffee. The staff was knowledgeable and really friendly as they informed me about there beans and how I was brewing it at home and gave some tips and pointers. Definitely recommend and would come back.
Really ne ce place for an early rise coffee! Staff is always super nice.
I always look forward to visiting this location when I'm working at Steiner Studios as it is directly across the street. A perfect spot to grab a coffee and go, or sit and hang. Today, I stayed for a bit to have a latte and an apricot oreillon, which was absolutely delicious! Everytime to go, there are always customers sitting, working on laptops, networking, or just relaxing, but never so many people that there's not an empty seat. I would definitely recommend Brooklyn Roasting Company for their excellent coffee and wonderful pastries, but I would especially recommend this location for anyone working at Steiner Studios.
The blue haired employee single handedly kept this place running flawlessly and with a smile. I didn’t love the donuts, but the coffee was great and I loved all the different wares and knickknacks available for purchase. Great location.
Nice open space where you can work on projects, free self serve water and the person there was really patient and helpful. The pastries were incredible and the coffee was very good, but not dunkin level (which is my favorite ever weirdly enough)
Brooklyn Roasting Company is a gem in the heart of the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where manager Peter's warm hospitality shines through his genuine love for his work. The coffee here is exceptional, each cup crafted with care and expertise. Rashad, the barista, serves each customer with a smile that's truly unforgettable, making my short visit to New York City extra special. This coffee shop is a must-visit for anyone seeking a cozy spot with top-notch service and delightful brews.
First visit, but it will not be my last, this was a great experience. The iced coffee was good, and my son had a donut that he said was very good, and to top it off, the staff made us feel welcomed from the door we have been trying to get a chance to try this for months and I'm glad I did and can't wait to go back, great job Brooklyn Roasting Company 😀
Sort liked it better when it was a Navy Yard legit dive bar and the rest of the building was owned by an Architect to store his salvage collection. Bonus to gentrification is that Brooklyn Roasting has killer coffee. My only issues are their hours 7am-7pm weekdays and 10/12-5 on weekend ... people should have access to good coffee 24/7 or at least 6am until 12am lol.
Relaxed environment with bright lighting and ample seating. Didn't check out the adjoined recreational area. Coffee was really good. Even drip had tons of flavor. Cheap coffee with great taste
It’s hard to find good tasting decaf but my espresso was delicious!! Everyone was very friendly too ◡̈
Great Americano, very tasty pastries. I recommend it. Great place!
Coolest staff best espresso 💯 also good cookies
Great place, great coffee, great experience. Service and atmosphere are very good.. and it wasn't too busy or overwhelming. The coffee was very well done. Highly recommended.
Best mocha in Brooklyn!! Consistently excellent coffee, pretty space, quiet music, nice baristas. My go-to coffee shop for wfh days
Just started coming here about a month. The place is always super clean and coffee is really delicious. Overall 10/10 coffee shop. I want to give a shout out to the Cashier Ben, he is always really friendly and helpful. Give Ben A Raise!
Absolutely love this corner coffee shop. The baristas are warm, welcoming and knowledgeable. The space is open with plenty of seating inside and even some outside. They have a good selection of different roasts that span light to dark and from all over the world. I appreciate the cans they come in and how they encourage you to bring it back and refill it with any bean they have in their refill section. Planning on doing that once I get through my current beans. I'm a black coffee drinker, so I appreciate they have 2-3 types of brewed coffee on tap. The pastries I've gotten have been solid too. Last but not least, they have early hours and close later than most. Highly recommend!
Everything you want from a coffee joint in the B'. Great coffee, fresh squeezed OJ, and some great baked goods had my crew of 4 happy and ready for a day of shopping and just hanging out. Friendly staff with great suggestions on what's fresh and tasty and a nice clean loo to boot. Highly recommend ! My only complaint is that i was not informed immediately upon entry of the iced coffee and choc' chip cookies !
Came across this place my accident while exploring Brooklyn...... Best accident I've had! Great food options and tasty, loved the coffee and the staff were super friendly and helpful! I'll be enjoining the coffee I brought (in a great Brooklyn tin) in the U.K. by Sunday and telling my friends all about this place!!
This is by far one of the best coffee shops you’re fine and all of New York City whether you have to get a lot of work done or you want to play some table tennis or even just sit on one of the couches and watch Netflix...this open space is for EVERYONE! Not to mention they always satisfy with a solid cup of coffee
Great coffee shop in Williamsburg, truly a hidden gem. You must try the croissant pudding, a delicatessen and the prices are reasonable too.

I live in Colorado and since trying BRC coffee when visiting NYC, I have been buying Iris espresso on a monthly basis for my Profitec machine. I've tried many coffees, and found the quality and value of all BRC coffees I tried to be excellent and hard to beat. They always ship on time, the coffee is consistently good and fresh, and with Iris specifically, the crema is ridiculous !
A "Go To" shop for coffee beans, nice selections and friendly staff with reasonable pricing! Love the "refill" idea for the beans and have been enjoying the varieties as I go on... I've found at least two roasts that I want to keep on hand, from now on!
By far the best coffee shop on Metropolitan. And there’s a few! Quality beans. Chill consistent baristas, and there used to be great live latin music shows on Sunday’s.
Brooklyn Roasting Company is a cozy and inviting café known for its high-quality, freshly roasted coffee and expertly crafted beverages. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for relaxing or working. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, providing excellent service. It’s an ideal spot for coffee enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
Not only is the coffee amazing, but the staff is always welcoming. They make you feel like a regular even on your first visit.
I've convinced everyone I know.
Their iced latter was delicious. To die for. Perfect on a hot summer day. The shop is also very spacious but underutilized in my opinion. Sporadic placement of chairs and tables don't allow my even breif moments of intimacy.
Very disappointed to see that this longtime Brooklyn coffee stalwart could not survive the pandemic. It was for over a decade a hub of activity in Dumbo, where you could meet friends or business colleagues in an informal, cool and airy setting by the waterfront. Also disappointing is the fact that the company has not made any mention of the closing on their website or social media. That being said, do patronize their other locations, including the smaller space on Washington Street.
Excellent service and a warm atmosphere
Spacious and bright coffee shop right on flushing. The coffee is always good here most importantly, a nice strong cup. Enough room inside to grab a seat and hang for a while and not be in anyones way. Plus they have a bathroom for customers!
Really good coffee but based on who makes it. Wish there were more food options.
A great place to spend time with friends or family. Highly enjoyable!
This place has great coffee and chill vibes but my only gripe is the furniture. ALL of the chairs are uncomfortable and tiny. Maybe they dont want the customers to get to comfy?
Thanks for providing real mugs and plates! I hate making plastic trash at coffee shops and I always appreciate having options that align with my values. I do wish you’d promote these options more to customers—everyone around me is drinking their coffee from a throwaway plastic cup (majority of plastic never gets recycled, and almost all of it breaks down into microplastics that we consume…). I bet if they knew they had an option to make less trash, and to do some good while consuming their meal, that they’d take the opportunity. So maybe a sign? Maybe the barista asks if the person will be eating/drinking their purchase in-house? These little steps can reestablish new norms and build more conscious, proactive customers. Thanks for considering, especially as our world faces a climate crisis exacerbated by fossil fuels (which are used to make plastics…).
Pretty standard coffee place that has great lighting and some nice views. Given it's a chain, it's similar to the other ones in the area, especially the other one up the street on Flushing. This one is neat because it has a little art gallery in the back that mixes it up a bit from the norm.
It is a good place to rest since not much along the long street. The place is spacious and it offers a decent selection of coffee products. Only one person was staffed befond the counter, and you may have to wait a while when it gets a few customers. They get their bakery stuff from Unregular Bakery, which is a good choice!
I love the coffee and croissant but the wifi is so SLOW. It does not work. And its very hot. They need to crank up the AC and get new wifi PLEASE
Well, if you want something different, this is the place for you.
Really great coffee shop and awesome location! I really have had only the best interactions until today. I was excited to try the tin refill program, where you can bring in a used tin and fill it up for a slight discount, but was sadly disappointed by their pricing on this option. I brought in what I assume is a smaller size than they normally fill, a 9oz tin that I purchased at my grocery store for around $10. My assumption was that filling it up would be cheaper than my original purchase price, but I ended up paying the refill price for the larger 12oz can which was $15, $5 more than I originally paid for my brand new tin. The person helping me at the counter even asked her manager (?) if she should charge me the same price as the 12oz can, seeing as the can I had was smaller, and the manager glanced over and said to charge the same price. At that point I already had the coffee in my tin, so I didn't want to make a scene and complain that this seemed unfair to charge the same amount for 3oz less coffee. My advice would be go for the coffee, but not the tin refills! Go the grocery store instead and get more of the exact same coffee for much less money.
espresso not dialed in at all both times i’ve tried it. underextracted and watery. third wave aesthetic and price but coffee is not there. nice bright space.
Coffee was alright. A little pricey but good enough. Would be back if walking by but wouldn't aim to go here for coffee. The shop itself was really cute though and looked perfect for a date or to study
I’ve really tried to like this place. Fabulous well lit space across from the Navy Yard. Relaxed large cafe. Some of the baristas are great, yet it is too hit-and-miss and more than half of the baristas are so not worth the visit. Now they have a bell alarm that rings constantly for some alert and it’s just another thing that detracts from the place. Too expensive and too many of the baristas are not successful at making espresso drinks, they make good coffee taste blah and they have a snotty attitude. And when you are charged extra for half and half but still have to speak up and interrupt them them not to use another milk on your order every time .. it just gets really old! (Also it is marked extra on the board for oat and almond milk but not for half and half.) Three stars for visits of old when the coffee, pastries and all baristas were better and there wasn’t a constantly ringing alarm.
I end up coming here when Head Hi is closed or I need to use my laptop. It's just meh. Baked goods have a bland, particularly store-bought taste. Cold brew tastes a bit like charcoal with an aspartame aftertaste. It's ok if you're a tourist used to Starbucks I guess.
Coffee is strong. Place has a sedate and somnolent feel, in contrast to its former use as a “go-go” bar back in the gritty old days when the Brooklyn Navy yard was just that. Now it’s a go-to place for well manicured people in their 20’s and 30’s. The floor to ceiling windows allow plenty of light in and give you a front row seat to the frenzied traffic flow of flushing avenue.
Lol might be one of my worst coffee shop experiences to date. The staff was completely unresponsive, forgot my drink, & then ignored me when I went to ask what happened… it wasn’t even busy. Such a shame because the coffee was great & I love the space.
Since when has asking for a decaf coffee become a problem. In the age of gluten free, soy and almond milk, vegans , lactose free , 0%alcohol beer and every other preference a decaf coffee should not be so difficult. Some people can not have caffeine, plain and simple. Unfortunately this place doesn’t offer decaf coffee. What the do offer is an Americano. A decaf espresso with hot water. No thanks.
Management makes them put ice in their nitro, which is nuts. They also won't/can't heat up the pastries. Overpriced. The hot drip coffee is fine, though, and it's the only place in the area unfortunately.
Used to be the BEST cold brew but somehow they got greedy, changed the coffee and rosed the price to a whooping $6.50 add tip and you have an almost $8 coffee in a secluded location in Brooklyn. So sad.
I work nearby and this was the nearest coffee shop. The coffee is overpriced and mid at best. I’ve had two pastries from there (both croissants) and they were ridiculously dry. Luckily, I now work elsewhere and have better choices.
The atmosphere is pleasant, but the overall experience didn’t live up to the hype. I had to wait longer than I expected to place my order, and the drink itself was quite average. The seating was tight and uncomfortable. If you’re only picking up beans to go, it might be okay, but sitting around and relaxing wasn’t very enjoyable for me.
The atmosphere is pleasant, but the overall experience didn’t quite match the hype. I waited longer than expected just to place my order, and the drink itself was fairly average. Seating felt cramped and not very comfortable, which made it hard to relax. If you’re just stopping in to grab beans to go, it might be fine. But as a place to sit and unwind, it wasn’t very enjoyable for me.
Somehow it being a coffee shop the workers never have energy or even politeness other than taking your order. Then you supposed to tip them on top of a bad customer service experience. No thank you. Not the place to go if you like coffee shop vibes. Maybe just to pick up coffee and leave.
Cold Brew tasted like literal pond water, had to throw it out after a few sips. Didn't taste like coffee at all, I've never had a coffee even close to that bad. Bathroom was also out of order.
The employee was rude and ignorant to my demand asking for Latte in the blue cup, yet she put it in the red cup which is small I believe. She said you got to ask for double expresso shot. Guess what if I ask for blue you got to give it to me or at least say something why not or what’s up. A lady before me ordered ICE TEA and barista gave her black coffee I knew it’s not gonna be good. Very unpleasant. And the tables are DIRTY!
I’ve been coming here for 15 years while working at Steiner Studios, but unfortunately, the quality has completely fallen off. I’ve visited coffee shops all over the world—including my home country of Costa Rica—and I know good coffee. Recently, the brews have tasted like burnt water. To make matters worse, the service is now dismissive. When I asked for my drink extra hot, I was given an attitude and an excuse about the milk curdling, despite never having this issue elsewhere. After over a decade of loyalty, I won’t be back, and I’ll be suggesting my colleagues head elsewhere too. Thanks for a 6$ warm cup of coffee
When I was working at the shelter on Hall street and flushing, I would always come to this store when I was feeling a little under the weather, I haven’t been here in about 6 months I’ll say, I went in today to order a small tea for my throat, the last time I came the workers would always accommodate me when I would tell them I just need a tea because I had a sore throat, so they would ask “I can add honey to it for you or ginger because I would usually get a peppermint tea with that stuff added to it. The person who was here today was the complete opposite, he acted like he couldn’t hear me talking, and then when I asked if he had anything to add in the tea, he looked at me like I was crazy and said “I don’t have anything to add to the tea” I’m not coming back here again extremely disappointed, done!
