Curry Leaf Indian Cuisine Brooklyn Reviews
I randomly was walking down the block and came across Curry Leaf and what a great random find. I tried the chicken makini and I got to say, eating in Indian restaurants from NY to California, that was a fantastic dish. The accommodations were very quaint but very nice. I would feel comfortable bringing a date or business associate here. Staff was very accommodating with great advice as to what to try. Price, very reasonable for the amount of food. But it always comes back to the food, and again: the chicken dish and garlic naan as good as I've had for twice the price. Thanks
The staff are so nice and all of the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the tofu jalfrezi, cabbage tadka, dal panchratna, and a plain naan and everything was super tasty. Excellent vegan/vegetarian options. So happy to have this spot in the neighborhood!
Curry Leaf is hands down the best Indian restaurant in the neighborhood! Everything is very well spiced/flavored and pretty much every menu item is outstanding. High recommend for both deliver and dine-in, as the staff are wonderful as well.
We had a delicious dinner here tonight. Highly recommended! Service was fast, staff was cordial and the food was everything we wanted.
Just came in with a friend and it was perfect! We got a couple vegetarian dishes and asked for them to be spicy enough to make us cry , but not too spicy that it wasn’t enjoyable. They did exactly that!! I was sweating but kept going back for more. The chili garlic naan was also amazing. I’d highly recommend :-)
I ate here a few days ago. The decor inside is nice and the food was served on very nice stone plates. They played music videos on the TV so I enjoyed watching them. I went with my partner and I ordered: 2 veggie samosas, a mango lassi, butter chicken, and a stuffed chicken naan. We shared this and had enough leftover that I was able to eat the rest for lunch the next day. It came out to 35$ so that would be around 17$ per person which is not bad at all! Everything was flavorful and yummy. The employee was also very nice and attentive. I would definitely eat here again!
The food was very delicious, and their behavior was very friendly. The environment was also very nice. I will definitely go again. You should visit too — the food is really good!
We’ve lived in ridgewood for a while but just discovered this place today! Will definitely be back if we ever crave Indian food again. Everything tasted very fresh and we’re excited to explore the menu a bit more. Prices also very reasonable
I have been looking for a curry house like this in NYC for a long time! Really excellent curries and clean food. You can literally find your way here by your nose from a block away, they definitely don't skimp on ingredients! Already in my Top 2 in NYC
Super delicious food and very friendly service. A neighborhood gem, highly recommend!
Very flavorful food as well as friendly service!! A great addition to the neighborhood!
Will definitely return. Great intimate space with wonderful food. Very nice staff and especially the servers.
I visited Curry Leaf with a group of 6 friends while in Brooklyn for vacation. Everyone really loved their food and portion sizes. It was great for the price! Everything was fresh and the server was very hospitable. I wish we would have taken pics but we were all so hungry we didn’t think to. I definitely recommend trying out this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed!
The prices were good, the food was good, and the service was kind and quick!
This place is a 10/10 baby. Myself and my kids decided to try Indian food for the first time. I google Indian restaurant near me and Curry leaf was the closest, so we decided to give it a try. Very nice atmosphere and the gentleman at the front was very nice and friendly. The mango drink was delicious. We ordered butter chicken, lamb curry, garlic naan and cheese naan everything was delicious. My kids are very picky so when I saw them devouring that food I knew we made the right choice. We took home leftovers and next day we had it for breakfast same great taste. We will definitely go back.
Had a great time at Curry Leaf Indian Cuisine! The food was absolutely delicious — rich flavors and generous portions. The staff were friendly and quick with service, which made the experience even better. The restaurant had a nice, chill vibe — perfect for catching up with friends or a peaceful solo meal. Definitely one of the better Indian spots around. Will be back for sure!
This is an amazing underground spot!! Servers are super nice, price is not too expensive and they were super grateful for us stopping in!!! Food tasted good. We got chicken tikka masala and butter chicken. Some of us got medium and I got spicy and it was the perfect amount. (Spicy was not even super spicy) It was the perfect amount of sweet and savory!!! this was the first time my friend had a mango lassi as well and it genuinely changed his life. Very good quality underground spot.
Ordered from Uber eats I’m annoyingly picky, I got the Kadai ghosht and it was the best I have had in a really long time. Definitely order from these guys. Excellent
This was some of the best Indian food I've had in Brooklyn. The dishes speak for themselves and everything tasted fresh and authentic. Excellent service - very friendly! Highly recommend.
Stopped in Saturday night before a concert. Our food was out quick and absolutely delicious, and with great portion sizes. Woo!!!
It's a small place - about ten tables, each one seats two (easily moved around with some comfy longer couches for groups) in a rather nice area of the city. We were here on vacation and stopped by on a whim, it didn't disappoint. Varied foods, served fresh, and it wasn't busy at all! In a city where you could spend your entire life trying new restaurants and never eat the same thing twice, I'd definitely come here again the next time I'm in NYC.
A wonderful restaurant with great service and amazing food! I recommend the Reasam soup for the cold weather, it is good for you
Great service. Really reasonable prices honestly. And the food is really good. Garlic Naan was my favorite. It’s amazing. Will be back. Thank you!
what a great spot! we came in on a rainy day and the place was pretty empty except deliveries. the gentleman who took our orders was kind, and the food came out fresh, hot, and deliciously spiced. it’s affordable too! come check it out for some good indian food and a very peaceful vibe.
Food is incredible, one of the best in Brooklyn and Indian food is my fave❤️ deadass the curry was better than all the Indian places in Williamsburg, albeit slightly watery (which in my opinion is better). I brought a whole bottle of wine to drink and they didn’t charge me! Iconic. I’ll be back every week
My husband is vegan and I am not , finding a restaurant that has vegan options that aren’t all processed fake meats is difficult . There’s a small handful of options in the area . We finally made it to curry leaf and it did not disappoint , the food was excellent . From the flavors to the freshness and authenticity. Will definitely be back to try everything on the menu . Also I love the music videos they play.
This was a nice little find tucked away for late lunch/early dinner. The aloo tikki chaat was a delicious appetizer filled with flavor. I liked that the restaurant could do a coconut milk based kadai gosht. The portions were a good size. There was no skimping on anything.
Just moved into the neighborhood and this spot is already in the rotation. Our server was super sweet and attentive, and the food was delicious. I got the chicken makhani, samosas, and a mango lassi—so good. They were also playing epic music videos on the TV. 10/10 experience.
Great food and great service! I expect a certain high level of quality with indian food and they absolutely have that! I especially enjoyed the mango lassi :) Atmosphere could use some work but I'm there for the food :3
My boyfriend and I loved this experience! Some of the best Indian food we’ve had in a while. Reasonably priced, fresh, delicious. The saag and chicken korma were amazing! Very friendly and fast service! We’ll definitely be back.
Had the best garlic naan of my life here! And the Palak Paneer (mild) and Paneer Bhurji (medium) were excellent and correctly spiced. We made sure to clarify the spice level with the server and he got it perfectly. Rice was well cooked and included some slivered carrots and other vegetables.
Genuinely one of the best meals I’ve eaten. Highly recommend to all, super affordable and delicious.
Best Indian cuisine I've ever had. Every dish that came out was better than the last. On top of that, the prices are fantastic. Cannot recommend enough.
Lovely customer service and ambiance from the furniture to the silverware. I forgot I was in a restaurant the whole time. The naan is literal comfort food, a nice warm hug; buttery, soft and crispy. The chicken vindaloo is perfect; just enough spice. First time was a charm. I will return.
Phenomenal Indian kitchen with an amazing atmosphere. Great customer service and very friendly. Have been here many times and will continue to come here!
I came in with a good friend last night. The service was only eclipsed by the food. It was absolutely delicious and the portions were great. I will definitely be back.
Unassuming local spot that consistently serves standout flavors! Start with the garlic naan and highly recommend the shrimp tikka masala.
Sweet service and great food! I’ve tried the palak paneer and chicken korma and both were great (they also gave me a complimentary dessert!).
Best Indian food in the neighborhood by far. The service was great and every dish we tried was flavorful and perfectly spiced. I tried the fish curry and it was so tender…
Food was so excellent, hospitality was excellent, customer service on point. I had the paneer tikka and vege samosa. Highly recommend this spot. Definitely will revisit.
Very friendly and attentive staff, felt very comfortable and not rushed and really enjoyed my dining experience, food was fresh, flavorful and reasonably priced. I really recommend this place. Will be back :)
Amazing Indian food in bushwick. Paneer tikka was incredible, goat Chennai had a wonderful spice. Would highly recommend
I frequently visit this place for their delicious chai and pakora. The chai is absolutely perfect, and their garlic naan and chicken tikka masala are also very good. I appreciate that they can adjust the spice levels according to your preference, and they can make it really spicy if you like. Another reason why I come here is because of the excellent service. The staff is incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is great. It's definitely worth the price you pay.
Ordered takeout and everything was delicious! The service was great and they were super nice about adjusting my order to make it vegan. Really appreciated that. Definitely recommend and I’ll be back!
Really good food - we went basic and got the desi butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, it was beyond expectations! definitely coming back
We ordered the lamb biryani, chicken tikka masala, potato paratha, garlic naan and of course masala tea (what many Americans call chai (tea). Everything tested delicious and reminded me of being back in India. I love the location because it’s right on the edge of Bushwick and Ridgewood. Service was excellent and they went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.
Curry Leaf never disappoints! I’ve dined in a couple of times and also ordered takeaway — both experiences were great. The food is always super tasty, fresh, and full of flavor. Staff are friendly and the place has a chill, welcoming vibe. Takeout is packed nicely and still hot when I get home. Whether I'm eating there or grabbing food to go, it always hits the spot!
the food was incredible and the server was so attentive! great atmosphere and music, as well as the videos playing on the tv being entertaining. absolutely would recommend
excellent low key delicious food. fun bollywood music videos playing. nice staff and service and well priced. love this place
This place is SO delicious! The portions are large and you can adjust the spice level! (They can make it really spicy for all the super spice lovers out there!) the kofta malahi kebabs were out of this world! And to top it off the mango lassi was creamy and delicious. We will be coming back!
Food here was so so so good! I will say, the place looks very unassuming when you walk in, but don’t let that deter you! The staff is very friendly, and the food was delicious. They even gave us the option to adjust spice level (“American” vs “Indian” levels spicy too). We got the Chana masala, butter chicken, garlic naan, mango lassi, and vegetable samosa! All were great, but special shoutout to the vegetable samosa, which may have been the best samosa I have ever had!
Ordered take out so the photos aren’t the best but it was incredible. The chicken in the korma and tikka was seared you can see the char marks and then thrown into the korma and tikka which is a nice extra detail to taste the smokiness and bring out the flavor of the meat. The meat was also really tender cooked to perfection which is hard to find in these dishes at times. Right now it’s one of the best Indian dishes I’ve gotten in the nyc area. If you like Indian food try this out.
AMAZING!!! The samosas were completely filled and tasted so good with the sauces. The two naans (garlic and cauliflower) we’re also great to pair with the chicken (I think it was butter chicken) and chickpeas. Everything was so yummy and so affordable.
I ordered the fish makhani and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were rich and authentic. We would definitely come back again.
Four of us ate at this restaurant for lunch and had a fantastic and filling meal. - The masala chai warmed our soul after a cold day. - Papdi chaat was an unexpected surprise. And we all mentioned we want to each have our own bowl of it one day 😂 - The bread basket was a great size and allowed us to try a variety of naan and roti. - Although we loved the lamb biryani and chicken tikka masala, the palak paneer was a highlight!!! Friendly service!
I order take out from Curry Leaf at least once per week and I’m never disappointed. I try one new menu item each time and I keep finding new favorites. From the Gobi Manchurian to the chile pakora I’m finding new things to enjoy all the time. Well done!
I am absolutely thrilled with the service we received at Curry Leaf this evening. We came in wanting a mere three entrees and were gifted delicious complimentary beverages which then sustained us until our order was quickly prepared. Chicken Vindaloo was amazing, mango lassi; out of this world. We certainly intend on returning, and soon. Heart eyes emoji!
The food = fabulous! The service = wonderful! I had bhelpuri, lamb korma, and chicken Hakka noodles. All were delicious! Stop in eightball thrift when you’re done and you’ve got a perfect afternoon!
Was raised in the UK where I had the good fortune to eat tons of high quality Indian food growing up. Since I moved to the US 13 years ago I didn't really find the quality of Indian food that I was used to back home until I ate at this place. Flavors are incredible. I had the Korma which had the perfect balance of spice and flavors. It was very clean and not oily at all, with very high quality chunks of chicken. Incredibly satisfying and an easy 10/10. My new favorite place.
We had a perfect Saturday at Curry Leaf! We stopped in on a rainy afternoon, and were granted warmly, seated promptly and served with the more courtesy than I’ve seen in the last 8 years in New York. Of course the service is important, but the part that was most mind blowing was the amazing food! We over-ordered planning to try a lot of different stuff and it was so delicious! We stayed a long time to finish our Goliath plates, and we continued to be accommodated by the incredibly kind server! We ended our meal with a kettle of the coffee to warm us up before going back out into the rain! This is easily my favorite meal of the year so far, and I am excited to have this restaurant in my neighborhood! We’ll be back soon!
Curry Leaf Indian Cuisine was a really solid takeout choice, and everything tasted great even after the ride home. We started with the samosas, which were stuffed with peas and curried potatoes. Samosas are a classic Indian street snack, and these were done really well. They weren’t spicy, but they were nicely seasoned and comforting. The filling had simple, warm spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, and a touch of garam masala, which gave it flavor without heat. I got the lamb curry, which was my favorite. Lamb curry is usually slow cooked so the meat absorbs the spices, and you could really taste that here. It was cooked in freshly ground spices with a tomato-based gravy that was slightly acidic and nicely spicy. The flavors came from spices like cumin, coriander, chili powder, garam masala, garlic, and ginger, which gave the sauce depth and warmth. It paired perfectly with rice and felt hearty and satisfying. My boyfriend ordered the butter chicken, a classic dish that originated in Delhi and is known for its rich, creamy tomato sauce. This version was smooth and comforting, made with tomatoes, butter, cream, and spices like garam masala, cumin, coriander, and mild chili. The only thing I’d note is that there were bones in the chicken. Personally, I think butter chicken is easier to eat when it’s boneless, but flavor-wise, it was still really good. We also got garlic naan, which tasted amazing soft, fluffy, and perfect for scooping up all the curry. The naan was fragrant with garlic and brushed with butter. To drink, we had a mango lassi, made with yogurt, mango, and a touch of sugar. It was creamy, refreshing, and not overly sweet, which balanced out the spices in the meal. Curry Leaf Indian Cuisine is a great option if you’re craving comforting, classic Indian food that travels well. The flavors were warm, balanced, and familiar, and it’s definitely a place I’d order from again.
Honestly one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. Food is always super tasty. The garlic naan is cooked so well. Very comforting. Dining in is cute & cozy, too.
Very underrated. I started ordering from here some number of months ago and it's consistently very good, easily my favorite Indian food in the city. My go to is usually the mango lassi, rasam soup, and palak paneer. The bhaji are also quite good, and the garlic naan is VERY garlicky. The interior looks kind of like an old office, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice by passing on this place because of that. It's just....better than you think it's going to be.
The best Indian food I’ve had in a while!!! This spot is cozy, with only a few tables, great for a local date night. The staff was super kind and accommodating! The chai was serviced in a teapot, with adorable tea cups! The chicken tikka masala, korma, and curries were huge portions, and so rich in flavor! The chicken was so tender. Plus, super affordable! We will absolutely be back :)
everything was phenomenal! standout dishes for me were the biryani & the goan fish curry. the biryani had such a depth of flavor & the raita was the perfect pairing. the goan fish curry had a coconut-y flavor & the texture of the fish was perfect. a lovely surprise was the gulab jamun at the end - probably the best gulab jamun i’ve ever had! soft & warm & so fresh! other dishes we got were the chicken tikka masala, bhelpuri & papri chaat, and of course garlic naan. not a single dish disappointed!
One of the most authentic Indian food experiences hidden in Brooklyn (I am from India). Also unbeatably good prices, simple place with all focus on freshly made great food. Service is great and it’s a cozy space. Highly recommend and will be back. Special shoutout to the chicken 65!
We got the saag malai, one of the fish curries, the lamb stuffed naan and the spinach paratha and everything was superb. The fish was very tender and we were pretty impressed. My boyfriend also commented that he could taste the tamarind flavor in the saag. The lamb stuffed naan had a bit more flavor than the spinach paratha, which tasted a bit like a less greasy scallion pancake. Our server Anil was the best server I’ve ever had at an Indian restaurant. He was extremely friendly, answered all of our questions on the menu and suggested his favorite fish curry, and checked on us several times and even made sure that the spice level was good. Would highly recommend this Bushwick spot as a dine in option but we also say plenty of takeout orders getting fulfilled
The food was amazing, it was my boyfriends and I first time having Indian food and it did not disappoint at all, we ordered the desi butter chicken, lamb tikka Masala (my fav), lamb curry and mango chicken with some naans and apps! It’s a small dimly lit space for an intimate homey setting. Definitely coming back here again
Came here with friends and we enjoyed everything here. The food was amazing. I got the chicken biryani (mild spice) and literally the first bite I took, I was like "Wow, this is so freaking good". The servers were very nice and welcoming, we were able to chat with them for a bit and made the experience amazing. I would definitely come back and recommend this place.
This place is great! We ordered lamb vindaloo, paneer, garlic naan, chicken biryani and vegetable samosas. Everything felt very elevated from other Indian take out that we’ve gotten in the neighborhood and the flavors of everything was complex and rich with aromatics and spice. The lamb and chicken were both extremely tender and obviously there’s care in choosing the cuts of meat with no chewy or muscly bits. The naan was so delicious and definitely very fresh with nice elasticity and a soft chew. Perhaps the most delightful were the samosas which felt very home made and texturally were fantastic with a bit of crispy on the outside of the dough and a soft savory filling that was made even better paired with the sauces that they came with. We will definitely order again and make our way through the menu.
Great new place added to the neighborhood, in my opinion it is the best Indian restaurant on the area. The service was good, the food was delicious, authentic flavors and the spices, salt, sweetness are spot on. We even tried the cheeseballs with honey as a dessert and it blow my mind how delicious it was. Strongly recommend this place. Me and my wife were very happy to eat here. We’ll be back for sure.
Fresh, authentic and delicious food. While personally I would have liked chicken to be a bit less dry. My family didn't seem to notice. Generous portions and priced right. We will be going back. They do have take-out too!
I got Hakka noodles and Lassi. Neither were authentic. I was very excited for the noodles but honestly it was so salty and not hakka style. I'm not sure what it was. The mango lassi was very sweet. I had to add yogurt...and there was some kind of syrup all over it. I'm really sad to write this. But I had to throw away the salt bomb noodles and I dont think others should experience that. On the bright side staff was very nice when I picked up my order and the restaurant was very clean.
The food was quite bland (I had their daal that they advertise as a speciality and it wasn't flavorful at all. A person eating with me from India also agreed!). And one of the dishes was had to be sent back because it was too tough to eat. And then when it came back it was also too tough. Also the outside looks cool but the inside is just white walls! Friendly people working there but I probably won't be eating here again.
Most inauthentic Indian food in the area. Who puts raisins in Biryani???? At least put it on the menu. Absolutely vile. Update, forgot never to order here again and ended up with onion makahni instead of chicken makahni. Maybe 2 pieces of chicken and about 5 whole, uncooked onions instead. Can’t believe this place is still open.
Absolute nightmare! All the food served was stale, refried multiple times, and made me want to puke there. Please avoid this place at all costs. We ordered veg hakka noodles, chili chicken and spring rolls. None tasted like normal. We told them about it and they had guts to charge for all of it!
