Djon Djon Brooklyn Reviews
Gia was such a great waitress and the food was amazing! Wonderful atmosphere as someone who's Haitian. Would definitely come again and recommend to others!
I had a great time at this place with my two girlfriends. This fall Brunch was memorable, not just for the food and drinks but also the attention of their servers. Thanks to Elijah and his team we are definitely coming back!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Looking for a brunch spot with a real vibe? A DJ, a 60-minute brunch special, and unlimited brunch cocktails? You definitely need to pull up to DjonDjon, one of Brooklyn’s staple restaurants. They just dropped a new brunch menu featuring gourmet French toast with compote (strawberry, blueberry, banana and more) served with their signature Dous Makos butter, plus Belgian-style waffles stuffed with your choice of filling and topped with that same rich, flavorful butter. And that’s just the beginning. Brunch is served 12 PM – 4 PM every Saturday & Sunday. Come hungry and come outside. #BrooklynBrunch #NYCBrunch #BrooklynEats #NYCFoodie #BrunchWithAView #BottomlessBrunchNYC #BlackOwnedEats #BrunchVibes #FoodieFinds
I took my family to Djondjon restaurant after Church on Sunday. We had a great time, the place was so calm and cozy. The food was amazing 10/10, the drinks were also good. I'm definitely coming back! 😋🥂✨ #family #restaurant #church #sunday #time #place #food #drinks
Everything about the experience was great, from the service to the food and drinks. Tried multiple appetizers, but the favorites were the kreyol wings, fried accra, and shiktay especially. Entrees were just as great; the legume, black rice, and mac and cheese were all delicious and well seasoned. Will definitely be back to try more from the menu. No alcohol is served (yet), but the mocktails and other beverages are still great options by themselves or to go with BYOB drinks; recommend the tropical fusion and mango lemonade.
Julissa was our waitress(hope I spelled her name correctly) and she was attentive, kind, and very knowledgeable of the menu. The DJ is so talented and sweet, I will definitely be back for another brunch or a dinner soon. My only discomfort was the heat not being fully on, but it was disclosed thats it's on an automatic system. So everytime the door was opened the heat went off. So that's only an issue during the winter lol. Above all, it was such great vibes! Thank you for having us 😊
Awesome food, ambiance and service. Our waiter Marcel was very attentive, offered suggestions to try off of the menu. It’s not everyday that you come across a fine dining restaurant specializing in Haitian Cuisine. Thanks for answering the call guys. Can’t wait to come back in the summer to enjoy the sidewalk cafe 👌🏾
The most authentic Hatian Food in NYC! My kids and I always enjoy the food. We traveled all the way from Harlem for this special cuisine. The manager was a gem and our waitress was very kind and accomodating. The Lobey Fritay and Soup Joumon were great. We will return!!!
Ok traveled from Atlanta and had to try this place. I’ve had Haitian food in Atlanta and south Florida broward and dade counties so I know good Haitian food. Plus my father side of family are Haitian so I’m very familiar with the culture. I tried to find something bad to say about this place thinking all the positive reviews had to be false but I couldn’t. The food a 10 the atmosphere a 10 the service we received also a 10! The drinks were amazing and the food was breathtaking. Good Haitian dishes and pikiliz made exactly how it should be. No complaints. Can’t wait to come back and visit again
Honestly, my mother was a top notch cook however this place has one of the best Akra!!!!!! I mean it was sooo soft on the inside yet nice and crispy on the outside. The salmon was just ….I have no words. Honestly I am MOST definitely coming back. The service was 100/10. The waitress extremely friendly and familiar with the menu ( she was NOT Haitian) Anyways , we’re coming back with more people. It was definitely worth it!
The outmosphere was great the moment we walked in and Gia welcomed us with a softness to her demeanor and a smile. The food was really good. I had the grilled he Lambi and grilled Fish which was done to perfection. We will definitely come back.
The food is So delicious. First, we stated off with the Haitian Sunset, "omg sooo good. Then had a haitian long Island. The appetizers we had were the wings and the coconut shrimp. All I can say is delicious!! The entrées we had were the macaroni gratin, Djon djon box with chicken, lambi en sauce, black rice, and legumes. Food tastes just like your mother is in the kitchen throwing down. The service is impeccable. Marcell is so welcoming and attentive. The ambiance is just perfect. It's just right, not a lot of stuff crowding the table, so you can really enjoy your food. Second time coming to this restaurant, and all we know is that we will definitely be back! The food is seasoned just right, not bland at all like we have read online. When you come, see Marcell.. he is THE BEST!!!!!
The server (Marceaux) was EXCELLENT. He was prompt and attentive without hovering. The food (legume for me and lambi for my friend) was very good AND AND AND came before we even finished the appetizer. Speaking of Apetizer, the Akra tasted very good but could be crunchier. Not only will I come back but I would be proud to invite Haitians and non-Haitians alike.
We're really enjoy the food and the music. We like the presentation of the black rice. The punch was delicious not too sweet. Nice and clean place. Clean bathroom. Nice personal, the server was so nice she's doing a good job. The food 😋 tasty. See you soon. Thanks for your business.
Came here on date night with the wife while exploring Brooklyn. The drinks are potent, the live DJ really sets the mood and most importantly the food was supreme. Would highly recommend this gem in the middle of Brooklyn. Haitian cuisine is awesome.
Julissa was amazing. Perfect waitress. Definitely needs a raise.I will be coming back because of her. The cake was amazing and so was fried goat. 10/10 experience thank you julissa again.
Such a beautiful warm and welcoming classy environment. Food is so on point and Marcel is amazing. He’s attentive and helps your experience feel excellent and thoughtful. The food is bussin and so authentic. As a Caribbean woman I Love this restaurant and I’m so grateful it’s in our neighborhood.
This inviting restaurant had an amazing vibe. The waiters were attentive and Haitian music played in the background. This restaurant utilized their small space well. I felt outdoor seating was done perfectly. No matter where you sat, you would be sure to feel like you're taking in the culture wuth the decor. The owner made it a point to come out to greet us on our first visit. The Menu is limited, but what they had, they did it well. The food presentation was superb. There was a bit of a wait, but great food definitely made up for it along with service. The Paté Korde is a must try along with macaroni au gratin. This place is a must try!!!! This place does not serve drinks with alcohol as of yet. owner updates they are awaiting their liquor license. It doesn't take away from their tropical virgin drinks that are equally delicious 😋 ❤❤❤🙏🏼As a fellow Haitian I definitely will support effort.
Came here twice and on both occasions the food was perfection. The octopus is perfectly grilled, and the portion is healthy. Crab cakes are a delicious appetizer for two, and the Chitkay with the plantains hit the spot!!! The vibe is laid back, with interesting art and kompa music. Not forgetting the excellent service from Marcel, the manager, and the staff as well. Truly a gem in PLG!
A great atmosphere for family and friends to enjoy Haitian food and a 🇭🇹family like restaurant atmosphere. Gia and Elijah made our New Years Eve a special one. The appetizer chiktay and soup joumou were delicious and warming to the soul. The dessert and espresso is perfect to end your night :)
I had an impromptu dinner with my family and we were lucky to find this restaurant open on a Monday night .. the atmosphere was great and the food was delicious… I had there version of a Rasta pasta and it was sooo good season nicely with a little kick.. the fried goat was tender and also a lil kick. Mac gratin was nice and cheesy!! Just great food.. I’m from the Caribbean so I appreciate some seasoned food and don’t mind the spice. the staff was also very friendly and polite.. great addition to the neighborhood
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Taste of Haiti in the Heart of Brooklyn! If you’re looking for food that feeds your soul as much as your stomach, look no further than this Haitian gem tucked away in Brooklyn. From the moment I walked in, I was wrapped in warmth—welcomed like family, serenaded by Kompa rhythms, and surrounded by the rich aroma of spices that whispered “you’re home.” Let’s talk about the food. The griot sliders? Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, perfectly seasoned with that signature blend of citrus and heat. The pikliz had just the right kick—fiery, tangy, and addictiv, and don’t even get me started on the paella earthy, savory, and deeply comforting. Lastly, the Lumbi… sshhhit that deserves its on review:) Every bite felt like a celebration of culture, resilience, and love.
SO GOOD. Highly recommend this place, it’s beautiful and great for dates. Everyone was on a date when I went in with my family. I recommend the crab cake, the coconut shrimp, the chicken sandwhich, and definitely get the Jus Corossol. Marcell our waiter was amazing.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at DjonDjon in Brooklyn, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! As always, the owner, Wesly, came over to say hi, adding a personal touch to our visit. Having frequented his other restaurants, I can confidently say that DjonDjon is another phenomenal addition to his impressive portfolio. Wesly consistently does an excellent job, and this latest venture is no exception. Our server was incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring that our meal was enjoyable and seamless. The dishes we ordered were nothing short of spectacular: MUSSELS - Fresh mussels steamed in their signature Creole sauce—each bite was a burst of flavor, perfectly cooked and seasoned. KAFOU WINGS - Fried chicken wings tossed in our choice of Kreyol and Honey Jerk sauce—crispy, succulent, and packed with a delightful mix of spices. GRILLED OCTOPUS- The grilled octopus was tender & the portion size was excellent- this was the best octopus I’ve ever had! LOBEY FRITAY- Our choice of fried pork, served with plantains, a beef sausage, and house-made pikliz—a wonderful combination of textures and flavors that truly embodied the essence of Haitian cuisine. Djon Djon, located in the vibrant neighborhood of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, offers a unique culinary journey that masterfully blends tradition and innovation. The restaurant's commitment to authenticity is evident in every dish. This restaurant stands out by celebrating Haitian heritage through a modern lens, creating a dining experience that is both familiar and refreshingly novel. If you're looking to savor the essence of Haiti through a tapestry of flavors, DjonDjon is the place to be. Highly recommended!
I reached out via email maybe a week or 2 in advance for a May 28th graduation They were organized, patient and did everything to make sure everyone was comfortable! Thank you so much to the waiter that served us! I am sorry I forgot your name. You were amazing! I hope you get promoted because you had everyones orders on point even with my relatives switching their seats or waiting to order lol I would come again and strongly recommend to others. My family had a blast celebrating my Masters degree. Bondye beni nou! Mwen pap bezwe rezon poum tounen vin manje. Nou te byen jere nou. Mwen pa gen regret kem te fe resevasyon mwen avek nou Ke bizness la kontinye grandi ❤️
Every time I come to Brooklyn, DjonDjon is my go to place. From the service to the atmosphere, the food and the taste, everything is just right on point. Chef Wesly always wants to make sure the client is satisfied and always makes time to have a little chat with them whenever possible. I genuinely feel home away from home with their delicious Haitian cuisine, as soon as I take my 1st bite . Keep up the great food!
Out of towner reviewer: UNBELIEVABLE! One of the best meals ever! My wife and I stopped by for dinner after arriving into Brooklyn for the weekend. Here’s what we ordered: -Kabrit en Sauce w/ black rice (very delicious! the goat was so tender. Note: this does have some spice to it) -Chickpea Laya w/ black rice (fully vegan and very, very good. A large portion, plenty to eat) -Macaroni Autin (possibly the hidden gem of the menu. So creamy, hot, and delicious) -Sweet plantains (amazing, just what we wanted for a nice sweet treat after dinner) The staff was super friendly. Just as a heads up, they don’t serve alcohol, but we heard the mock tails are still good to have. The meal prices were a little higher than anticipated, but still, very much worth it. Overall, we were highly impressed with Zanmi and recommend it to everyone. This restaurant is a diamond-in-the-rough establishment, definitely come check it out!
Amazing place with amazing service! Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday and was greeted by Keffy who was our waitress. She was so pleasant and attentive. She gave us some great recommendations as well. 10/10 service! She makes a great drink as well. Marcel, the manager was there as well. He’s so lovely. He let us do BYOB and had the place open past closing to let us and a few other patrons finish eating and drinking. He told us about how the restaurant got started and about the food. The food was amazing! Recommend getting the duck, the griot in sauce, the legume, the griots w/o sauce. The shitay(?) with the plantains is so delicious! Definitely get it, you won’t regret it! The wings were really good as well as the accra. I personally didn’t like the griot sliders, I thought the flavors didn’t go all together. Everything was good individually though. The black rice and the max and cheese are both great! I wish they had the pikles(?) as a side because they were so good I could’ve ate a bowl of it alone. Lastly we got a dessert that came with crèmeas(?). Super delicious but way too sweet for me personally. If you like sweet though I would recommend.
Let's see, where do I start? I am a proud Haitian American and spent many of my summers in Haiti. So I've been able to have delicious Haitian food. I am so happy that I traveled to Brooklyn and ate at the restaurant under its new name. It was a well decorated restaurant with vibrant art and beautiful colors. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the grilled Branzino, Djon Djon Box, macaroni gratine, Griot sliders, and legume w/shrimp, and I was impressed. The portions were perfect and shareable. Everything was so well seasoned and amazing. We actually devoured everything. Vanessa was our waitress and she was quick, knowledgeable, and very friendly. I'm already planning my trip to return. If you're in Brooklyn, just go and try it out! **currently no liquor license but they own a bar across the street you can get cocktails in the meantime. I'm sure they'll have it by the time I come back
I went on a random Wednesday afternoon and I’m impressed. I love Haitian food and this place made me love it even more. Wesley was highly attentive and ensured I had a great experience. The Chiktay was great - loved that they paired it with tostones. Of course the duck with black rice was the highlight and it was amazing. I have to return as there are so many dishes I still want to explore especially the Lambi, the pasta and the Legume aubergine. All in all a great experience with amazing Haitian fare and chill vibes with konpa playing in the background. Absolutely loved it! Thank you! Not sure when I’ll be back but I will! ♥️
Djon Djon is an absolute gem and a true celebration of Haitian cuisine. From the moment you walk in, the aromas pull you straight into the heart of Haiti—warm, earthy, soulful, and unforgettable. The food is outstanding. The djon djon rice is rich and deeply flavorful, perfectly seasoned with that signature mushroom essence that’s impossible to fake. Every dish tastes homemade, slow-cooked, and made with care—exactly how Haitian food should be. The meats are tender, the portions are generous, and the balance of spices is spot-on: bold without overpowering. What really sets Djon Djon apart is the authenticity. This isn’t watered-down Caribbean food—it’s the real thing. You can tell the recipes come from tradition and pride. The staff is welcoming and kind, making you feel like family rather than just a customer. If you’re looking for comfort food with soul, culture, and serious flavor, Djon Djon delivers every time. Whether you’re Haitian and craving a taste of home or new to Haitian cuisine and ready to be impressed, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended. 🇭🇹🍽️🔥
Such a fabulous meal. The food was amazing we got the spaghetti, the branzino and the paella. Would recommend it all. All of it was so scrumptious. Special shout out to Julissa, you rock! Will be back :) You won't be disappointed!
Really lovely atmosphere in the restaurant, loads of light, not too loud music because some of these restaurants… 😳. Fantastic food that I would describe as Cajun adjacent for those unfamiliar with Haitian cuisine (due to the heavy French and African-rooted influences) and it didn’t disappoint. Great drinks and service with Emmanuel was professional, efficient and very helpful. A++
My wife and I love coming to Djon Djon just to kick back and relax after a long day. The drinks, food, atmosphere, and staff are amazing. Great businesses stems from great management. The manager here (Marcel) definitely knows what he’s doing and how to treat customers and the staff is a direct reflection of him. Djon Djon is definitely in my top two for great food and drinks in Brooklyn.
The vibes are immaculate. The food is superb and the DJ was killing it. A very elegant space to have great Haitian food. The akra was so good and their version of shrimp and grits..chefs kiss. Highly recommend.
I had an amazing dining experience at Djon Djon. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, vibrant, and overwhelmingly inviting, the kind of place where you instantly feel at home. I ordered the Chicken Vodou Pasta, and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. Every bite was full of flavor, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care. The service was high maintenance in the best way attentive, professional, and genuinely focused on making sure everything was perfect. To top it off, I tried the Citadelle Punch, and it was the perfect finishing touch to an already unforgettable meal. If you’re looking for great food, amazing vibes, and top tier service, Djon Djon is definitely the place to be. I’ll absolutely be coming back. Lord Rubens
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere with the live band playing. The mushroom ravioli with chicken added was fantastic! The coconut shrimp with sweet plantain, on point! The mocktail was very tasty. I absolutely will be back! Shout out to the manager Marcelle & our server Charity!! What an amazing experience!!! 🍴🍸🎶
Marcel was my waiter, provided great service and was so friendly! The food was absolutely delicious, from appetizer to dessert. Did not disappoint, food is well seasoned food and yes even the veggies had flavor! Will definitely be back!
Quite the expensive menu items but super glad we got to try it outt. My favorite was definitely the jus corossol mocktail, that's soursop and coconut milk. My tostones (green plantain) was crispy, dipped in the chicken wing side green sauce, delishhhhhyyy. The Kafou wings was wow juicy for me i did not expect it, its seasoned and good portion pieces of flats and drums. Akra was an interesting try of malanga pretty mush inside, the salmon was unfortunately dry not very juicy. Fried pork was ok in the lobey fritay, but the beef sausage was omgg delicious. My friend loved his stew goat and the black bean sauce.
The food was absolutely delicious. I tip my hat to the chef, who was absolutely wonderful. I got a chance to chat with him a little and expressed my enjoyment of the meal. I visited with friends who had not had Haitian food before, and I must say we all cleaned our plate. The staff was friendly and professional, and the space comfortable with Kompa music playing in the background. We will definitely be going back. Excellent.
We really enjoyed our food! The goat stew was amazing and the whole table enjoyed the black rice. The vegan/vegetarian options were great. We also loved the soursop cocktails too! Great service
Djon Djon is such a warm and inviting space offering authentic Haitian dishes and flavors. Warm lighting , beautiful art and Kompa playing through the speakers just created the best vibe. The soup joumou, duck and Voodoo pasta were delicious! If you have a sweet tooth, try the Haitian cake . It is citrusy and fluffy! Thank you so much Djpn Djon! You made this Jersey girl super happy 😊 🇭🇹
I visited the restaurant last night and I was pleased with my overall experience. Among the other Haitian restaurants that I have visited, I will say that this one got my heart. The place was clean, the music choice was great on point the whole time. The food was absolutely delicious, the portion was decent for the price, the pikliz was to die for. The only thing is I wish they gave a more decent size for the black rice. Overall, good vibe and great food. I will visit again soon. I will recommend this place to anyone looking for a great Haitian restaurant.💯
Brought my older Haitian parents here for a birthday dinner with a party of 12. The service was excellent and they really accommodated our party! My parents had a ball and can't wait to return! The Djon Djon staff created a warm environment, with music playing at the right volume. The food was authentic and delicious, with a very short wait for appetizers. I particularly enjoyed the legume, which was stewed just perfectly. The cocktails were also delicious, with the Jus Corosol being a favorite among our group. The manager Marcel made sure all our needs were met. He brought out sparklers and desert for the birthday people, with old school Haitian music playing. Very classy and nostalgic. This is the perfect restaurant for a intimate family dinner and I would recommend to all my friends. Thank you Djon Djon!
First time here and it was an absolute pleasure. Food came out fast, it was flavorful and the service was exceptional. Gia was my server and she was a delight. Very personable, funny and attentive. Will be coming back soon!
An extraordinary dining experience! I had the legume stew dish with shrimp and sweet plantain on the side. The stew was unbelievably good, it felt like a home cooked meal. We also got fried herring which was a great app to our meal. The service was incredible too. I actually lost an expensive piece of gold jewelry and the staff were prompt in helping me find it! Great service and delicious food! I’ll be coming back!
Honestly, by far the best restaurant I have ever been to. The server/ owner was phenomenal in every capacity. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and made tweaks where he needed to make sure everyone had a dish they could choose. The food was exquisite and downright delicious. I never had experience like this before and I really appreciate taking the trip from Boston to experience this international cuisine.
Excellent Service from Marcel Marcel was fantastic during our visit! He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. He gave great recommendations, checked in at the right times, and really made the experience enjoyable. The food was great, but Marcel’s service truly made the night memorable. Highly recommend asking for him if you come here!
This restaurant is Haitian Excellence 🇭🇹. Food is delicious, full of flavor, and a warm, cozy environment. I felt truly at home with general manager, Marcel and owner, Wesly. I truly love Haitian cuisine being of Haitan descent and this place is the embodiment of top tier Haitian cuisine in Brooklyn, matter of fact all of NYC. I will be back!
Love the culture and the experience it felt like I was at home down to the menu and the drinks and the live band it made me feel at home. I felt classy and the food was appealing in the heart of Brooklyn everyone should visit. The service was great I will be back thank uuuuuu ❤️❤️❤️
Small upscale Haitian restaurant near downstate and Kings County Hospitals. Took my order to go. Lovely atmosphere. Online ordering was easy and the food was ready exactly on time. Some of the tenderest lambi I have ever had. Will return.
The food was so flavorful! I had the duck, goat stew, chicken, and all the dishes were good. They also had a nice wine list. Service was great. Would def go back.
Came in to this restaurant a few nights ago while in the neighborhood and due to the reviews. And I am soooo happy I did!! The food was so good I was doing a lil happy dance in my seat. Lol And the waitress Julissa was a sweetheart! I had the Voodoo Pasta which I substituted the mushrooms for garlic and it was amazing!!! A must try! My friend and I shared the Chickpea Lava and green plantains and it did not disappoint! My friend had the Kabrit En Sauce with black rice, and he said it was the best goat he's had to date. I tried the black rice and Chickpea Lava and wow! That alone can be the perfect meal. I also had the cocktail Haitian Sunset where I substituted the orange juice for passion fruit and it was perfect! I cannot wait to come back. 😁
Stepping into DjonDjon in Brooklyn, I was immediately struck by the inviting atmosphere – and even better, finding parking was fairly easy, a definite plus in this vibrant borough! I came in with high hopes, and DjonDjon delivered beautifully. Our server, Julissa (I hope I'm spelling that right!), was an absolute delight – attentive, friendly, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. I opted for the DjonDjon Burger and it was fantastic. The patty was juicy and flavorful, perfectly complemented by the fresh toppings. But what truly elevated the meal were the sides: the Green Plantains were perfectly fried to a golden crisp, sweet and utterly addictive, while the Black Rice was rich, savory, and incredibly satisfying. Every bite was a testament to the authentic flavors DjonDjon brings to the table. Based on my experience, DjonDjon is a must-visit for anyone craving delicious Haitian cuisine. With its fantastic food, great service from people like Julissa, and convenient parking, it's a gem in Brooklyn. Thank you ❤️
Traveled from Jersey to try this restaurant and I must say it did not disappoint. Comfy, cozy, and stylish restaurant. The staff and services were excellent. The food and drinks was absolutely delicious 5 stars. I will definitely return and drag some friends ands family to experience this lovely Haitian restaurant.
Came to this place randomly on a Saturday and was able to get served by Gia. What a wonderful experience! The food is absolutely wonderful, incredibly flavorful and filling. Gia was incredibly accommodating and kind! It’s a Haitian cuisine and it was incredible. We traveled to Brooklyn from NJ for a fun Saturday and will happily return here easily anytime! If you’re new to Haitian food this will also be a great place to give a try for your first time, so many options!
I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE SINCE MY MOMS COOKING. THE OVERWHELMING FLAVOR OF THE DRINKS AND FOOD WAS NOTHING SHORT OF A REAL TOP TIER EXPERIENCE. DJON DJON is a "DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH!' MARCEL was my server and he did not disappoint took his advice for my drink and meal since it was my 1st time at the restaurant 😋 and I can say me and lady were completely satisfied. 5 star experience you must experience this place for yourselves.
I had an amazing time at Djondjon. My friends and I went here for dinner and we were impressed. The food was absolutely delicious. Our waitress, Julissa O, was outstanding. She constantly checked up on us, offered great recommendations, and was overall a vibe. I highly recommend this spot for delicious Haitian food.
Food was excellent. It feels like the food is organically cooked, with good attention to detail, making for a very good presentation and experience. I got the beef blood sausage, and DjonDjon paella. Blood sausage was nicely juicy and flavored, the tomatoes and sauce paired very nicely, adding a nice touch of acidity and sweetness. The DjonDjon paella is nice and satisfying. It is not boldly flavored, which meant I could eat a lot of it in one sitting without feeling overwhelmed. The atmosphere is nice, like casual fine dining. I highly recommend giving this place a try, I will certainly be back.
It was amazing experience with Gia as the hostess - she was very kind and hospitality with a great sense of humor! I love coming here for authentic Haitian food and culture even more so on Independence Day. I love supporting them as they give out free small bowls of soup joumou for everyone the day of. Outside of that, the food is delicious from the appetizers to the drinks. Highly recommend especially for my Haitian diasporic folk trying to get more in touch.
I came here for a family gathering. They accommodated all 30 of us. I know it was probably a little hectic, however everyone was very attentive. My server Moe was amazing. The food was served family style since it was a large group. Everything was really good, but my favorite dish was diri blan sos pwa, and the goat. The goat was so tender, the sos pwa had so much flavor. My experience was 10/10 & I do recommend!
The service was really nice. Emmanuel paid attention to us. Love Haitian food and plantains. We loved the ambiance and low Haitian music playing in the background. Good for any occasion but definitely perfect for first date night.
Our meal was satisfactory; however, the black rice lacked flavor, and the goat meat sauce was not particularly appealing. I considered the price to be excessively high. My companion expressed dissatisfaction with his sandwich. The music volume was excessive for my comfort. The server was courteous. I am uncertain about returning to this establishment.
My bf and I went here for dinner yesterday and needless to say, we left a bit disappointed. The atmosphere and ambiance were beautiful, but everything else was just blah. The service was not great, and left us waiting for unnecessarily long. I ordered the grilled lamb with green peppers and onions (+ black rice), and when it came out, I was even more disappointed to see how small my dish was. The flavors were okay, the black rice was dry and a bit bland, and this dish in particular is way overpriced for what you get. My bf got the duck and veggies (+ mac & cheese), which was pretty good. All in all, it’s a cute spot for drinks and appetizers, but they need to re-evaluate the pricing for some of their dishes and the flow of their dinner service. Also, it doesn’t hurt to look at images of the dishes before going because had I known my dish was going to be that small and look the way it did (wasn’t expecting the lamb to look like that at all), I would have ordered something else. Just a heads up!
I Came here with some friends for late dinner during my visit to NY. Service was excellent, Julissa was very friendly and attentive. She delivered exceptional service with a smile. I ordered the Haitian sliders and the acra. The sliders were a bit disappointed. Nicely presented but the breads were too soggy because the picklis were served on top of the bread instead of the side. The acra was ok, not the best. for drink i ordered the mojito and it was very disappointing. My wife ordered the salmon which was well presented and very tasty. She ordered the Dessaline drink and that also was on point. I like the ambiance which matches well with the decor. The outside sitting is an added touch to the place. I definitely would like to come back and give another try next time i’m in NY Evens C
My opinion.Good food good ambience. Not to turn customers away, but hear me out. I’m Haitian and I cook from time to time. The flavors was not super authentic like where the epris. For people that have high blood pressure I suggest you think twice before coming here. The salt level was VERY high. I can automatically tell they used all purposed iodized salt. And could be the oil they frying the food with. I will be back to try other things. I personally had tassout , the Mac, green plaintain, Akrah, black rice.
I was really excited to try this place, especially since I’d been craving conch (lambi) for a while. Unfortunately, the food overall missed the mark. The rice lacked flavor, and both the lambi and pikliz were surprisingly bland definitely not the bold, spicy taste I was expecting. It felt like the food was toned down for the gentrified crowd. If this is supposed to be gourmet Haitian food, it’s not giving. On top of that, the ventilation inside was poor it was uncomfortably hot, which made the experience even worse. For the high prices, I expected much better. For now, I’ll stick to my spot in the hood where the food is authentic, flavorful, and worth every penny. Service was good so we did tip above the included 20% gratuity.
Food was just ok. No real flavor Nothing to run home and tell friends. Service was great! Didn't like after dinner the lady walks up to you with a barcode to scan to leave a review. If the food was the bomb, I would've left a review on my own. I feel they pressure people to leave a review that's why they have so many stars. This is a honest opinion
As someone who loves Haitian food coming from Miami, Florida, my experience at Djon Djon was underwhelming. The service was fine, but the food was disappointing. The diri djon djon (black rice) lacked all kinds of flavor. The sauce and banann was meh. The griot wasn’t bad, but I would’ve enjoyed it a lot more if the pikliz alongside it had any flavor. I can say the salmon was good. Overall I was disappointed with the lack of authentic Haitian flavors and would not return. Definitely not worth the price. 👎🏽👎🏽
The food at this establishment is far from fresh, often tasting as though it’s been leftover from prior meals. To add to the disappointment, the service provided by the two waitresses is unprofessional, leaving much to be desired. I found myself questioning the authenticity of the positive reviews on TikTok and Instagram – they simply do not reflect my experience. I strongly urge you not to waste your money at this place, as the food made me feel quite ill after I left. Additionally, the chairs are uncomfortable, further detracting from the overall experience.
I really wish I could have said that it was a better experience, but unfortunately, we did NOT enjoy our time here at all. Came out on Monday night. The food is nice, although for my tastes, personally, it could have used more seasoning. I was unable to provide photos for all that we had, just took a few pics. There was music but just so many people coming in and it seemed the establishment is quite unorganized. It was too loud, the band should have played indoors! And our food took so long to come out. But our server was so sweet and really tried to make sure our experience was a good one. I would say they get a gold star for hospitality but the way they berate their staff in front of guests is just deplorable! I saw a young lady behind the bar get shouted at to "go HOME". We shouldn't have even been able to hear as much as we did from our table, but it looked like she had just had enough and wanted to give her two weeks' notice and the man who was screaming fired her there on the spot instead! I know, but you can't expect much decorum coming here because there was even some sort of fight that broke out and police showed up! It was chaotic! I think the young woman that was slapped also worked there! I saw a lot of gentlemen standing around and yet not one took any initiative to protect her. We felt bad for the staff, but this is just not a good look for a business. Do better. I was so upset that it ruined our night that hubby told me I need to go online a write a review!
Worst black rice I’ve ever had. For a Haitian place I was baffled!! After a long week of work i decided i was in the mood to spoil myself with some haitian food, Boy i was in for a treat. I had to throw the whole rice away (it was that bad) the salmon was tasteless and the representation was meh (I ordered on Uber) I rarely leave bad reviews but i was so disappointed in the food i could only digest the salad and salmon. DO BETTER! NEVER AGAIN.
