Don Neo Fusion Brooklyn Reviews
Visited Don Neo Fusion Restaurant and it was such a cute spot. All the food tasted delicious. The staff were amazing—very friendly & attentive, which made the whole experience even better. I posted photos of what I ordered and everything was great. Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to.
Came over after the snow storm. I honestly love Gyudon so much. This one that never disappoints. Blending perfectly with the juicy beef and creating that comforting, slightly sweet soy-based sauce seep into the warm bowl of rice underneath. Very Comforting!
this place is so nice I really want to find Japanese restaurant in this area and came here! especially, salmon don is really nice&employee also kind!
Words can’t describe how fresh and tasty the food is here. We ordered the mini don which was good for two people and super flavorful. Do NOT sleep on the shrimp tempura, normally tempura in American restaurants is too greasy but it was fried to perfection here. This spot is truly a gem, the vibes felt really warm and you know it’s an authentic Japanese spot when they play 90’s Japanese music I didn’t catch the waiters name but he was so kind and attentive, he gave us a refreshing strawberry limeade which was the perfect end to the meal
The chiken katsudon portion was not too big. The sauce is a bit sweet (like honey mustard), not the kind of sauce I often got on Japanese food. But the yakitori (I got the beef one) was great. Perfectly grilled and seasoned. The scallion noodle was delicious, simple yet strong taste. Although more scallion would make it better I think— to emphasize on the scallion taste. Great ambience, sit next to the huge window overlooking the streets, calming yet exciting experience. Offers discount for NYU students!
I love this place! The food at Don Neo Fusion is always super tasty and fresh. You can tell they put a lot of heart into what they make. The flavors are unique but still really comforting, and the portions are just right. The staff are always friendly and make you feel welcome every time. Definitely one of my favorite spots to eat.
Such tasty food! Good for a post-work beer and rice bowl or weekend date night. The salmon bowl is delicious, but my favorite is either the eel bowl or the chicken katsu. I always get the omelette skewer (it’s a little sweet and has some tasty seaweed and cheese on top). The atmosphere is PERFECT for Studio Ghibli fans or anime in general. I love to sit by the window and relax with the view.
This little Japanese spot is a GEM!! From the moment we walked in, the service was attentive, friendly and quick. You can tell the chef puts so much thought and care into each dish. The presentation was beautiful and the flavors did not disappoint. 💯 a revisit for us just to try the rest of the menu. The space was clean, cozy and just has that perf hole in the wall feeling. Highly recommend if for any occasion but on a late night when you just want to have izakaya chill vibes with the best playlist and the perfect place to be cozy and leave full and happy, this is the place. To Kenny and our waitress (who we didn't catch her name!), THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! You made our trip and let us have the best last night. 🙏🙂↕️
Wanted to try something new for our date and found a GEM! This cute little nook on the second floor is hard to catch but a MUST TRY! Their menu is a bit overwhelming at first but not once you figure out good matches😉 we tried a bit of everything to share; the thick men udon noodle soup with charsu, 2 pieces of unagi giant nigiri, & some of everything sashimi. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh! The decor and ambiance of the establishment was inviting and playful with the cool posters on the walls. Also, felt very spacious<3 Cannot express how lucky I feel to have found this place! They also have a lunch special!
Wowww this place is actually a gem. Came here with my bf for date night and it’s perfect. I love the vibe, the music is so good and vibey. The waiter was super friendly and we even get discount for being NYU student. They even gave us complimentary matcha icecream. The food portion is just nice, we got the Don buri set for $30 and they’re all so good. I love the variety that comes with it, it’s also so aesthetic.
I came to this restaurant after finding it on google maps and saw how well rated it was. I am now adding my two cents for this place because the food, presentation, service, and overall ambiance was very good! This place feels like a lowkey hole in the wall type of place that plays 80s-90s Japanese city pop and it’s very inviting. I recommend to get the sets because they’re very well worth it!
The dishes were incredibly delicious and very affordable!! They serve the best yogurt drink you can get, and the quality of each dish is unmatched. My favorite dishes included beef yakitori, popcorn karage, takoyaki, crab tabiko don, and, of course, lychee rose yogurt!! Although I'm not a great fan of raw fish, the sashimi fresh cuts were huge and was praised as the "best in the city" by my friend. The environment is also ideal for a post-work gathering with friends, and everyone there is super welcoming! Overall, I had a great time there and will definitely go back!
This place was so tasty! Very clean and good vibes. Sushi was delicious. Loved the little portion options for low prices. In general I thought the prices were very good too for the quality. Also the menu had cute cheeky names for things. 😋 Only complaint is drinks (non alcoholic) were kind of small for the price. Would definitely come back. 😍
Found this place spontaneously during a walk one day and it was amazing! The atmosphere reminded me of restaurants in Tokyo and the food was on the same level. The prices are very affordable and the service was great. For appetizers, we got takoyaki and agedashi tofu. For mains, we got a gyudon and salmon don (torched salmon). They torched the salmon right in front of us. Will definitely be coming back!
I’ve been having trouble finding good Asian food in the area, and this place absolutely knocked my expectations out of the water! A lot of the Asian food here is overpriced, small, and not that good, but this restaurant delivers amazing food for good prices! It’s an amazing new find, and they are currently in their soft opening. Don Neo Fusion has a beautiful interior, giving a cozy but spacious feel. There are currently opening up a patio area right now, which will also be a fantastic place to eat as the weather gets warmer. I got the Yogurt Passionfruit drink, which was one of the best drinks I have ever had - I’ve tried basically every boba spot within a 30 minute walk, and this was definitely one of my top favorites. My friend also got the sesame latte, which I would highly recommend - it was so creamy and they told us that they use a really high quality sesame (?) for it, and you could definitely tell. I’m not even the biggest fan of sesame but I would absolutely get it again! I ordered the Ocean by the Sea bowl which came with six different kinds of sea food, and it was delicious!! The scallop and squid were especially my favorites, as they aren’t as common of finds in bowls, but everything was extremely fresh and tasty. My friends got the unagi don and the chicken katsu don! They were both amazing, I think the unagi don was mind blowing even though I don’t like unagi usually - I think if I was looking for a more savory dish, the unagi would be my pick, but if you’re looking for some fresh seafood the Ocean by the sea is the way to go. The chicken katsu was good as well, but I personally reallyyy don’t like chicken so I preferred the others! We also got the eggplant as an appetizer. The way they prepared it made it taste a lot more reminiscent of uni than eggplant (very creamy and savory), and for the size and flavor, it was definitely a steal :) Barring the amazing food and drinks, the staff are also so sweet. Everyone was amazing and attentive, and they were great about giving recommendations! They opened very recently, so showing them some love would be great. The owners are such sweet people! If you come here, please please try a drink, you won’t be disappointed!
Super cute place on second story of this apartment building. The food is definitely not fully authentic japanese. Its more like a pan asian twist on japanese izakaya classics. For example the chicken katsu don came with a sunny side up egg instead of the typical omelette/egg scrambled on top and they didnt put any onions in either. The breading on the chicken was unusually sweet as well it had almost that thai sweet chili flavor to it. I didnt mind it in the end but it was just unexpected and threw me off a bit. The dish costs $17 which I do think is too much for the amount they give you. It should be like $14 at the most for the portion size. The beef skewer was good but it was on the smaller side portion wise and it came with a heavy cumin seasoning which again was unexpected. I thought the flavor was good but again you dont normally expect to see cumin on japanese food. My wife liked her salmon don bowl. I appreciated how the beers were priced reasonably for example I got a kyoto matcha IPA bottle for $9. Most places in the city try and gouge you for this same beer at like $12-14. My other complaint is that they dont have any normal chairs. All of the seating is just wooden stools which although comfortable are no substitute for a proper chair with a backrest. Overall this is a good spot and is a nice addition to the montague street dining scene, but dont come here expecting it to be a 100% authentic japanese food experience.
After strong reviews we were excited to go. Service was great and space is cool. However the food came out cold, mem soup had no flavor and basically most dishes are small portions on rice. Maybe people go for one dish they like but the food needs a real step up
