Doris Brooklyn Reviews
Great place! Sunday nights, are the best purely because the bartenders are super friendly and know what’s up! Excellent service
Update December 18th 2025 Still the best bar in NYC
This unassuming neighborhood bar punches above its weight. With fantastic service, great cocktails, and a unique vibe, it's my go-to weekday spot.
Ping Pong in the back! Decent drinks, decent beer selection. Solid atmosphere. All combines to make a great neighborhood bar.
Classic bar for the area, has a great happy hour until 7 (and all night Tuesdays)
Love this place for sitting in the backyard with a drink. Bartenders are always super kind and chill, too.
Indie, they play records and have great cocktails. There are hanging plants, booths and a gluten free beer.
I ordered a whiskey sour and it was completely masterful. The DJs play vinyl, the bartenders are friendly, and everyone enjoys this place!
Very cool and trendy bar ....but so loud you cant have an conversation!.... therefore check out the nice backgarden
I have a specific issue that has no bearing on Doris as an organization. Some of the folks there need to go back to Manhattan, a bunch of entitled people. Other than that, the staff always treats me great
friendly neighborhood spot with nice music. earlier in the evening is chiller, with room to spread out. cocktails are good, and standard Brooklyn flavors of today.
Such a cute spot to grab drinks with friends. You can ask to make any drink spicy, which I love!
Doris is definitely the new place to be. The back patio is huge and there's access to the bathrooms from it or from the inside. I like the decor and style of the place because it reminds me of AZ, NM, TX with it's pueblo inspired stucco wall and round windows. The menu is limited but yummy and they have Negra Modelo on draft for $5! The location of this place is great too, close to the Franklin train stop right in between Crown Heights and Bedstuy. Keep an eye out and you might even find Fulton street drugs! (true story)
Love to hang out with friends here! Cocktails are delicious, inside is very cute, and the backyard is great for the warm weather!
Absolutely adore this place and have been coming for years — excellent drinks and music, friendly kind bartenders and a gorgeous backyard. What’s not to love?
Texas Tuesday. Pickup 2024-11-09. Pretty loud but good music. Cheap. Good lighting.
Ordered a single bourbon and ginger ale and got something much better. They make their own ginger syrup and they used lime juice & bitters - great stuff.
A little southwest right in Brooklyn. Great beers, well done drinks, and chill outdoor space. Glad to have this place in the hood although it does get a bit rowdy sometimes.
My favorite bar in BK hands down. Great garden, great decor, amazing drinks and LOVE the happy hour!
Nice laid back bar. Dancing, good drinks and good grilled cheeses. Great mixed straight, gay, bi crowd. Basically everyone welcomed.
Great diamond in the rough on this part of Fulton. Wouldnt know it from the outside, but a great vibe inside and a nice backyard too. Reasonable drink prices as well.
Very cute bar, dark and stylish inside and lots of picnic benches and ping pong in the back. They also have multiple clean bathrooms haha
A very cozy and warm bar with a great energy. Fun with friends or for a date!
First time in NY, and this place is across the street from the air b n b. Nice atmosphere, great music, and the drinks are not too expensive if you don't mind cheap lager 😉
Great cocktails that are reasonably priced inside a beautifully designed interior that’s elevated but casual. I went on a few Saturdays when they had a dj spinning disco funk vinyl. I hope they keep booking these great djs 🙏
I’m here constantly. The interior is gorgeous, and they take vaccinations very seriously. The music is always fun (although a bit too loud). Come for a drink, stay for the grilled cheese sandwiches and ping pong table in the back patio 🍻
This place has great drinks and awesome bartenders. If you are going out in Bedstuy this is where the party is. There's always great music playing, the vibe is right, and they have an incredible, peaceful backyard, plus plus wait...ping-pong. You gotta doit --just do it.
Great vibe. The DJ was excellent. The bathrooms have surprisingly nice decor. It is a well cieated space. The drinks were delicious. El Palermo had me jolly.
Place fills up on the weekends. Cute interior and patio, very nice upscale atmosphere.
Always a good time here, the backyard is pretty spacious. Espresso Martinez and Hot night in Dallas are both great. The Gruyère and caramelized onion grilled cheese was divine…That’s all.
Best bar in the neighborhood and one of my favorites in Brooklyn! ❤️
Came here for a pop-up by Boca Santa, which does Mexican food. The vibes were great — soft ambient lighting and low music. Good date spot!
Very cool bar. The DJ was playing some really good music. They close the patio a bit early for my taste (probably the local ordinance) but we still had a good time.
A real gem. Super friendly staff, great music and a backyard with pool table. The candlelight bar is a great setting for a date.
There is a great energy in this bar. The disco ball is amazing. We celebrated our baby's birthday during closing to the public time and it was amazing!
Nice southwest vibes. Good beer selection, strange restroom situation, and tasty bar snacks. Except the DJ played The Hokey Pokey, I think he was trying to kick us out with that one.
Doris is a cute bar for a date night with your partner or a first date. Since they blocked off the ping pong it’s not super social.
I loved this bar - I didn't get any food, but the service and atmosphere was great. I've lived in Bed-Stuy for 4 years and never knew this little place was here! I loved it. The atmosphere was very chill. Good music, good vibes, the bartenders were attentive and friendly. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean too which is always a nice bonus!
Great little bar. Funky space, playing vinyl with affordable beers. Gluten free ones too. Recommend.
Nice atmosphere, bangin’ DJs, and grilled cheese. What more do ya want?
Very much a neighborhood bar, went on a Sunday and it was nice a roomy, they have a cute backyard and a good collection of vinyls which the barmen play skillfully.
Amazing vibe, great cocktails and a cool, laid-back crowd. Doris Bar is the perfect spot for a chill night out in Brooklyn!
Amara and Will were wonderful. Great drinks, great service… impeccable atmosphere. Love the vinyl 😍
This is s really great bar. The staff are great. The drinks are great. It's well lit and decorated. They have solid vinyl only DJs, including me. That might make it sound like I'm not going to be objective but since I work in bars, I hate most of them. This is a great first date spot and good for small groups. I like to get a michelada, a gruyere grilled cheese and a topo chico when I'm here.
THE BEST designed bathroom circulation of all time. One ADA accessible bathroom on the main floor. Then you can walk downstairs to a hallway with many many stalls. The key is there is also a second staircase to the bathrooms leading to the backyard. It’s crazy how much this improves the flow and experience of the bar by preventing bottlenecks. Genius.
I love Doris and wanted to come here more often in the past, but honestly a lot of the bartenders were really rude. Even had a friend mention being treated badly two years ago. However, I've been stopping by recently and it looks like most of the staff is different and they're soooo much nicer! I'm so happy cause this bar is killer and I live for the DJ nights.
Doris is the best bar. I don't really love going to bars because they often don't smell great and are too noisy to talk to your loved ones but not at Doris! And on top of that they make yummy drinks and have great food. The design of the space is beautifully done as is the back yard. I only have good things to say.
Doris is a great space with a nice aesthetic, reasonable amount of seating and decently priced drinks. Usually they have great music playing and dim candlelight so great for dates or catching up with a friend. The patio is also so pleasant in nice weather.
Great vibes in this bar. Outdoor area was packed and lively
Doris is such a quaint bar! They have a great drink menu, the backyard is absolutely lovely, and the interior is equally as nice. Fantastic place to fly solo, share with a date, or have a group hang, just get there early to snag a table!
Great spot! I was lucky enough to find this place just bc it's right next to my Airbnb and I'm glad I did. Really great atmosphere at night and was a good spot to read and journal by myself on my first true night in New York
Stunning interior and incredibly well shaded garden with friendly staff and delicious drinks. Good happy hour deals as well. Appreciate it 🙏🏽
They don’t really have food so no rating on that. Great local vibey place. Lots of seating indoor and out, even if it’s a small place. Great DJs and music. People actually dance even though it’s not a club. Security is nice. More of a grab a drink with friends place and listen to music than cocktail bar or club. My go to place on Fulton. Swing by the halal cart after in front of the Franklin station.
Love this space. Gorgeous if a bit dark inside. The drinks are great and their happy hour options are amazing. The grilled cheese are delicious and three of us ordered three rounds of the Texas caviar salsa because we couldn’t get enough.
Delightful bar with a unique interior. I thought they had an decent cocktail menu. I recommend this for quick drinks.
Solid drinks, great tunes, fun backyard with pingpong. Bartenders are friendly. Killer selection of vinyl being spun.
One of my favorite bars. The bartenders make great drinks consistently. A fantastic date night spot too
Good wine - space had the right vibes. Got a bit too loud later on
Lovely back yard, but this place is often understaffed- it can take forever to get a drink. Unfair to the bartenders to be the only one there on a crowded evening!
Delicious mixed drinks! Though the layout of the bar is a bit cramped (it’s better in the summer, when you can enjoy the HUGE lovely outdoor space).
Chill, dimly lit bar with great music and a good happy hour. The cocktails are great and servers are typically friendly and accommodating.
Don’t let the low key entrance to the place fool you, it’s a solid cocktail bar with a cool atmosphere. Not bad prices for cheaper beers which is nice. Large back patio but it closes around 9 or 10 and then it gets a sorta low key dj and loud conversations. It’s always a good option.
Cool vibe. We came here on a Saturday, there was no cover and a dj spinning vinyl under a disco ball. The place was pretty hopping and everyone seemed to be having fun. I don't remember what I ordered for beer, but the bar was well stocked.
Great spot to hang out music is classical instrumentals very chill vibe if you just wanna relax and have a drink and talk with your buds. Wish the menu had more enticing drinks but overall it isnt bad. The back is close at 10 30 so if you wanna hang in the backyard you gotta beat that time.
Cute neighborhood spot for drinks! They’re all around $12 and mostly mezcal/tequila-based :-) We went in at 7pm and both the outdoor seating at the front and in the backyard were full so we opted for indoor seating, but there’s plenty of space so you don’t have to worry about waiting!
A cool bar between bedstuy and crown heights, ideal to get a cocktail with friends. The interior is loud and not so nice but the garden (similar to a small beer garden) is fun to hang out. Cocktails are good with an average price
Super cute place with fun music. Good tequila and mezcal drinks. They were out of most of their grilled cheese options when I went so I didn't get to try one, but they sure sounded good!
The quesadillas were tiny but the beer selection was great. They also allowed me to charge my dead phone with no hassle. The drink prices were fairly high. Way to turn Brooklyn into Manhattan
This bar is awesome. Their drinks are really good and the place was packed and had a great vibe. Can’t wait to come back when it’s warmer out to check out the huge patio.
Hmm.. not really sure. Music and lights and vibes are good. But it’s a bit kill because I don’t know… maybe the bartender had a bad day. The interaction kinda killed my vibe for 10 mins.
Music can get pretty loud in this bar. During the warmer days this bar opens up their backyard which is perfect for day drinking. I come to their backyard when I want to sketch or read. You don’t want to be there as the night comes. There were a lot of rats roaming around. That’s when we took the vibe inside. Cash only and limited seating but good atmosphere.
Great bar, great drinks. Jasmine is an amazing bartender, good service and great drinks! Missed out on Ethan last Tuesday but he’s great as well, highly recommend
Apparently Doris is a Mezcal bar now. I love tequila personally but it still feels kind of random. Nothing else about the place is Mexican and none of the snacks or grilled cheese goes with the tequila drinks. Nor music or decor. The drinks also weren’t the best. Were a bit watered down and served with too much ice. Flavor profile good though. But expensive for how they were served. But this place will always be a gem and the backyard is bigger than ever!
I really liked the atmosphere here - beautiful interior design and a spacious backyard. Great spot for a low-key night or a date. The cocktails are okay but nothing super special. The bartenders were pretty friendly, except for that one time where one of the bartenders told us to "pipe down" because we were being loud in the backyard 💀. Not sure how loud we were but i don't think it was above normal noise level lol
Great spot for a date, almost everyone there on a Tuesday night seemed like they were on a date. Very relaxed and comfortable for a drink with a friend or two also. Good cocktails for a good price. Mostly full around 9pm which was fun on a weeknight. Limited food options so worth noting if you are coming on an empty stomach.
Weak $8 bottom shelf margaritas and no food left at 9pm. Great backyard and most of the beers I tried were good.
Love this place but really want to give constructive criticism. Not a good idea to blast gunshots while playing music. In this day and age people are being killed left and right by gun fire.
Lovely place but I would not recommend opening a tab there, they can't provide an itemized bill when you close (and will likely charge for more drinks) and add a 25% tip regardless of what you signed for, which for ordering drinks at the bar is a bit generous. But I guess I just was not lucky that night. Too bad as it's truly a very nice place.
Absolutely thrilled with the drinks and service at this spot! The drinks were expertly crafted and a true delight for the taste buds. The service was top-notch, with the staff being attentive and friendly throughout our visit. The only minor drawback is the limited space indoors, as the place feels a bit small and narrow. However, this is quickly remedied by the charming backyard area, offering ample space to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for a quick meet-up with friends, as the ambiance is inviting and lively. While I wouldn't stay here all night due to the indoor space limitations, the overall experience was fantastic. I'll definitely be returning for more drinks and good times with friends!
Bartender was totally zonked out and couldn’t handle a crowd of 12 people… music was unnecessarily loud. can barely have a conversation. This place used to be good what happened?
Bouncer was really cool and friendly. Bar tenders are really bad and don’t give great service to anyone that’s not directly in front of her
Great spot with great drinks but NOT a place for queer POC. I’ve been to this place several times with friends and have been ignored, flagging down bartenders. I understand busy nights which is why I didn’t take it personal the first time but after a couple of more times I caught on that I wasn’t welcomed.
This establishment is proudly displaying hateful graffiti. Highly offensive. Never going back again.
This place is a nice ambiance but the reason I'd never come back is because of the horrible went mean customer service I experienced. I feel like it was because my cousin and I were young and black and not the average customer. The older white bartender was extremely rude. He told us it was margarita Monday for $10. I asked what kind of margaritas they had and his exact words were "what do you mean? Regular margaritas. You can go down to Applebee's and get whatever flavors you want." (While rolling his eyes). My cousin and I were thrown off and didn't understand why he couldn't just say they had standard margaritas. Then after I ordered my drink and came back to ask if they could put something in the drink to make it more sweet because it was bitter, he gave me so much attitude saying things like "well yeah you ordered a bitter drink" even after I told him I had no idea it was bitter based on the name and what was in it (Sunset on the rocks). But yeah nothing about my experience was pleasant. I bought two drinks, tipped and walked away feeling like I wasn't welcome in the space. I wouldn't recommend young black professionals going here unless you want to be tested like a nuisance and not a respectful customer (which I strive to be).
The guy named Tom is the worst bartender I have seen in my entire life. He is so pretentious and doesn’t know how to talk to people who are coming there for years. I would not waste my money here.
They will try to rip you off… I went there with my friend and we both ordered wine, her glass of wine in the menu was listed at $14 and mine was $11… she ended up paying $17 and when I said something, the bartender was super rude about it, I will never come back to this place, since it’s not the first time I’ve been overcharged here, last time they added a bunch of extra drinks that I didn’t order to my tab
How a perfectly pleasant happy hour unraveled into “If you’re that bothered about your check, I’ll give you a free round.” Thank you, Doris, for the calm 6pm ambient HH ( hmmmm ). Unfortunately, it was undermined by a waiting staff attitude that was dismissive, sarcastic, and unnecessarily entitled. Querying a $24 happy-hour charge was met not with professionalism, but with attitude. The refund did eventually come, which neatly summed up the service. A textbook example of how not to handle a simple billing correction. Nice space. Poor service. Won’t return.
I had an absolutely terrible encounter here tonight. I’ve never experienced anyone let alone a bartender be so rude to me. I recently moved here and have been to Doris a few times so that I can find a bit of community. I’ve really enjoyed the music and the drinks are reasonably priced so I’ve kept coming back. I’ve never seen this bartender here before but to make the description clear for anyone to watch out he was heavyset with agressive facial hair and a gut. Upon walking up to the bar he had an attitude with me and asked for me and my friends ID. I showed him mine and he refused to serve me until my friend showed her ID. Already off put by this but brushed it off I asked where the happy hour was on the menu and he rudely pointed to it saying that « it’s right there on the menu » and checked his phone hoping he could tell me it was over. It wasn’t or I wouldn’t have asked. Then I asked for water and he rudely told me it’s at the end of the bar. Already put off from ordering I wanted to keep it simple and just get a rum and Coke since they had a $5 well drink deal. When it rung up it was $12 so then I asked about it and he said they only had one rum and it wasn’t a well drink. Confused why he didn’t tell me that it wasn’t apart of the deal since I had asked about happy hour earlier. When I asked if I could get something else he got frustrated with me, rolled his eyes and said « So just to be clear you just want the cheap stuff. You don’t want to spend any money ». Well after that I really don’t want to spend any money here. Thanks. Felt really weird that he was mad at me for trying to order a happy hour drink during happy hour… Not sure if it was racially motivated but it definitely felt like it.
