Georgian House Brooklyn Reviews
They have so delicious Georgian dishes. We enjoyed very much. I can easily say that here is one of the most great restaurants for me.
One of the best Georgian restaurants in NYC! We stopped here for dinner on our way home from Coney Island and we were blown away. If you like Georgian food this place is as authentic as it gets. We ordered lobiani (bean bread) ajaruli khachapuri (cheese bread) and badrigani (eggplant with walnut paste) and it was all so delicious. The khachapuri was the best I’ve ever had. They also had an amazing live band that evening. The band sang in both georgian and English and made dining experience so fun! The server was also friendly. They didn’t really check on us like they do at American restaurants but we’re happy to help once you caught there attention.
Cozy atmosphere and amazing food. I went there with my friends and we enjoyed our time there, the staff was very friendly and efficient and the prices are fair. I'm going back again I recommend this place to anyone who loves Georgian food or wants to discover authentic Georgian food.
Incredible. Everything exceeded expectations by a long margin, and at very reasonable price (had pkhali, agjaruli, khinkali, dry Saperavi wine, and tarragon fizzy drink)
The food was amazing, the waiter was very helpful with his food suggestions as it was our first time trying Georgian food, he was also very polite. The atmosphere is very authentic as well so I would definitely recommend this place to those who would want to try Georgian food and feel the Georgian atmosphere.
Amazing fresh and tasty food, very nice and friendly atmosphere! Highly recommended 💯
Really good shashlyk, I was a bit suspicious of it being served with french fries at first, but the meat was excellently cooked and spiced. The real star of the show was the khatchapuri though -- can't recommend enough
Gorgeous place for perfect dinner with family or date night ❤ We loved every plate; It tastes sooo good and wonderful and professional host kakhaber jorjoliani ❤ thank you for everything gays ❤
Felt welcome the second we walked in. Delicious authentic Georgian food, great service and music definitely set the mood for the cozy evening with friends. We will be back!
Our first visit Friday night to this wonderful Georgian restaurant. A warm, cozy, and very lovely atmosphere. Food was superb. Our waiter was very friendly and professional and recommended several delicious Georgian dishes and drinks for us to try. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back. Loved it! Thank you
I felt like I was at a georgian family party. Great music, vibes. Dark and intimate atmosphere. I could go back here easily ten or twenty times and feel just as captivated and transported! They forgot to make my dinner but they gave us complimentary wine and bread and were very sweet about it.
OMG! The food is fantastic!!!! Love it from the first taste!!!! 💛💛💛
This is my first time having this type of food and didn't know what to expect. My family was floored by how delicious everything was. I wish I knew what everything got was called, but it was all great. The grape leaves were so great and there was this cheese bread with egg on top that was to die for. We can't wait to come back. Next time we will be trying the meat soup dumplings.
What a great place to come on Friday for diner with friends . Great authentic Georgian food , excellent service . Life Music band is total joy!!!! We will be back and strongly recommended to try these place .
Music band was amazing and heartwarming, their songs were moderated nicely and were pleasantly shown. I recommend this place from the bottom of my heart, had great time there.
There’s one of many Georgian 🇬🇪 restaurants that features delicious food and plays live music on weekends.
The best restaurant ever! We go here whenever we come to Brooklyn and now we feel like we’re at our home away from home. Spectacular service and delicious food. We highly recommend this restaurant for not only the Georgia food for some of the best food in New York City. Thank you Frank and Valentina.
I'm Georgian and have been to every Georgian restaurant in Brooklyn/Manhattan/Queens and I can say with full confidence that none of them compare to the quality of food, authentic Georgian atmosphere and amazing service. I come back over and over with new guests each time. Number #1 place I recommend to any American friend that wants to give Georgian food a try. Every dish tastes like my grandma made it.
The food was great, so was the service, took a bit long to get the order, but it was fine, because the place has nice atmosphere and design. Very pleasant experience. Thank you very much!
This place is so fun. It has so tasteful food I really like the area in side of restaurant. And the food the best❤️
This was my first time at this place and I can easily say, I will definitely be visiting this restaurant again. I am not familiar with Georgian cuisine and the water patiently explained and advised what to order. Everything I tried was super delicious, kebab was great, chicken tabaka was the best I ever had. Desert - honey cake was very delicious. There was a live band playing jazz. Price was great. Thank you guys. Recommend this place.
Whenever I’m near Brighton Beach, I have to stop by and grab my favorite dish—a piping hot pie of khachapuri. To all the cheese lovers out there, this is a must-try! They also have so many other dishes that look so good, you’ll be hooked before you even take your first bite. The flavors are just as amazing as the presentation—pure comfort food at its best. khachapuri
Amazing GeorgianGeorge food everything is fresh and delicious. Will come again.
I like the food 🍱 for sure! The atmosphere is very cosy. Great shiny ✨ windows with ornamental colors. The service is also cosy or moody... But the khinkali (georgian dumplings) 🥟 very delicious , 🍷 🇬🇪 the wine was so good 😊 But the candles 🕯️ on the wall was not there. it would be nice to see them lighten for the next time ☺️ 👍🏻 thanks!
I think this was by far my favorite Georgian restaurant I have been to yet! Came here with a Georgian friend of mine and he ordered a few things that were all absolutely delicious. The khachapuri was HUGE! Beautiful restaurant inside too. It looks like they have live music some nights. Ambiance was 10/10. Parking can be tricky but we lucked out and a spot opened up across the street.
The food was delicious and good. I had a great time there. There were great shareable options, so we could try everything. The portions looked good too.
Excellent food and atmosfere! Staff was friendly and all the other patrons were clearly having a great time! Me and my wife were probably the only not Georgian people there and the people working took their time to explain us what the different dishes were. Music was great as well! We’ll 100% be back!
Amazing Georgian restaurant conveniently located in Brighton Beach and easily accessible by public transportation. The food is full of rich, authentic flavors, and the service is absolutely outstanding. The wine selection is fantastic, making the experience even better. I love this place and will definitely be coming back again! Highly recommend!
"Disappointing Experience" I was incredibly excited to try this restaurant, but unfortunately, it fell far short of expectations. The ambiance was underwhelming – the place looked tired and dated. Service was incredibly slow, with a single staff member juggling hostess, bartender, and waitressing duties. Despite only six other diners, we waited an agonizing 45 minutes for pastries that should have taken a fraction of that time. The food itself was a major letdown. The overwhelming flavor was salt – excessively so. The dumplings were particularly disappointing, with thick, undercooked dough overpowering any subtle flavors. Overall, this was a truly disappointing experience. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
What you see is what you get in terms of the ambience. The house hand is loud, the Georgian immigrants are handsome and macho and it seems like you have left the good old USA and are in Tbilisi where the customs are different and so is the food, but the fact is, the food is so so good, like, incredible! Dnt leave without trying the Napoleon for dessert and the dumplings and Lula kebobs in the least. This is a fantastic feast. Go! Enjoy!
The food took a bit long to get on the table, but it was very very good. First time trying Georgian food and it did not disappoint. I like all of the things we ordered, but my most favorite dish was definitely the Khachapuri. It came out hot with “boiling” cheese and egg on the bread boat and when you mixed it, it just came together so nicely. The bread itself was so soft but has a crunch on the outside as well. Apart from the cheese boat, we also ordered some Khinkali and beef/lamb kebab and it was also amazing.
Absolutely fantastic. No complaints. Best Georgian food I’ve ever had. Already told a bunch of my friends and family to come try it out. I hate meat because it’s hard for me to like the taste but I went in with an open mind and try chicken kebab (best I ever had) and the meat kinkali (best I ever had). Seriously recommend the potato and mushroom dish it’s insane 🤩
I was down by Brighton Beach and took the opportunity to hit up this Georgian restaurant. Absolutely amazing!! Had the Ajarian Khachapuri - a delicious bread bowl with melted cheese and egg, dumplings and napoleon cake for dessert. Everything was a hit! I’d make the trip the the end of the Q just for this.
Tasty and not expensive (chicken barbeque, hinkaly with chez and two tea for 33.7$). But very long cooking, we was waiting 30 minutes our dishes. It's testy and good value for many if you not in a hurry.
Lovely place to relax with tasty food and music. Next time will bring more friends. Already text some info and pictures. Some musical numbers too loud, can be adjusted.
Food is really good! Live music in the evening. Service could be better. Not very welcoming at all.
Went here late night and had decent service. Tried their khachipuri which was good. Can be for large groups and small groups. Also nice for a dinner date. Would consider coming back if I’m in the area. Just wish it was closer.
Once, they did turn us away for no reason. Another time, though, we had a pretty nice experience with a large group, before covid-19. It was a family reunion. There was even some really nice, upbeat live music. Food was pretty delicious and the service was great. I can't wait to be back.
Good food but had some issues. Place had close to a 15% service charge that wasn’t advertised on the menu. We still tipped 15% on top of these charges. Menu prices were not accurate due to this. The kebab took 45+ minutes to arrive. 3.5 stars.
I've gone here two times and both times were pleasant and enjoyable. I went with Georgian friends so they picked the food I would eat. The food was excellent and flavorful. Especially the potato with mushrooms 😋!! The portion size was good enough for 1-2 people with what was ordered. I cannot comment on the price because I didn't pay 😊 and because I don't remember them🤗. I was told by a Georgian friend that the prices, for any restaurant, are normally too much. But this is normally for any restaurant to be honest. When I went on a night with entertainment, it was very enjoyable listening and dancing. I would go back to get another taste of Georgia 💃🏽👌🏽😊
Cozy venue with good aesthetics! 👍👍 Love the bar vibe & lounge beer hall as you enter the premise. The arch ceiling lends a sense of antiquity. The Ajaruli Khachapuri was a delightful sight to behold. It tasted just as wonderful as a work of art. 🖼️ Weihenstephan available on tap 💪💪. Just this is worth a visit. Magnificent venue vibes & feel. ** There is a 10% service fee + 3.57% operating fee. I’m guessing they pay the staff extra so no gratuity needed?
EXPENSIVE!!! the music was good, hachapuri was delicious. But kebab (shashlyk) was tough, overcooked and the portion for 18$ was small. They will charge you twice: first - service fee 10% of the total amount after taxes. And second time when you pay they will charge some customers fee - for what I have no idea. Don’t forget that they will ask you about tips. In conclusion: some cuisines were good, some did not worth it. And they charging you multiple times.
If you have an extra 1 hour to wait to get a food then yes-you can come here, food is good but in reality Georgian food is much better 🤷🏻♀️and they need to change the somber music
It’s kind of quiet place in the middle of Brighton Beach which is weird, but fine. Service was ok, could be more friendly. And horrible just horrible smell in the bathroom (lady’s room) just unacceptable!
Excellent food, nice decor. The service was good enough. Extra charges on the bill were an unpleasant surprise so be aware!
The food was really good and well-prepared — no complaints there. Unfortunately, the service didn’t match the quality of the food. The waitresses had a noticeably bad attitude and gave off very negative energy, which made the overall dining experience less enjoyable. Hope the management can work on improving the service side, because the kitchen is definitely doing a great job.
Very long and rude attitude towards customers. We waited 40 minutes for the salad to be brought. Had to refuse one hot dish, we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the hot dish was never brought. We were in a hurry and refused to wait. The salad and khachapuri were delicious
Service lacked. I stood at the door for good 5 minutes before I was greeted. My waitress in a blazer kept ignoring me. She even walked out of the kitchen with her head buried in her phone. My table was literally ignored for a whole night and I had to come to the bar to ask for things, which was annoying. Crumbs on the cloth from a previous seating were ignored. I had to ask for water after I got my glass of wine. Her face looked very miserable and her “service”, or lack thereof, almost spoiled the night if not for the music. Speaking of which, the music was great. Musicians are very sophisticated and professional. It also smelled bad there. Maybe seat cushions need to be washed. When food came, it masked the smell but it’s still atrocious, obviously. Speaking of the food, it was good. Just like in any other Georgian spot. The owner and the management need to understand that such poor service and filthiness will steer guests away to dine in other Georgian restaurants.
Great food. But expensive. Plus, too many additional fees on top of the high prices. Insanely loud live music. You can ask them to tone it down all you want – it falls on deaf ears (no wonder). This insane volume makes me not wanting to come ever again, despite the deliciousness of the food.
Food is decent, if slightly overpriced. But on the check they automatically charge tip, which is calculated on top of tax. Then they add a mysterious service fee. After that, the bill has a section that requests additional tip, which of course has suggestions that are calculated on top of the other tip, the tax, and the service fee. In the end, 12 khinkali ended up being $32.
The service here was extremely slow. It took close to an hour to get our food. There was a musty smell in the area we were sitting in which we determined was the cushion on the bench. There was a piece of plastic in one of the salads. They also charge a service fee (10%) and another operating fee
Food is delicious but they’re extremely low in personal , they have to hire at least 1 busboy or hostess to answer phones , welcoming people . All tables need something but can’t reach waiter/manager whatever he is . Frozen Georgian manti khinkali takes 40 minutes to prepare or worse - Waiter can’t handoff you ready food ! Definitely will visit again what’s going on .
I've eaten here seven or eight times. Food was always very good and service passable, but the last time, a makeup birthday dinner for my dad who I hadn't seen in a few months, the bread wasn't fresh, the chicken on the cirsivi was stale and hard, the meat dish was wrong, and the server indifferent and inattentive, despite being empty. I gave this feedback. They should have comped this awful meal. They lost a customer forever.
updating my review from 5 star to a 1 star because I was charged for food I never got. We had to leave in a hurry due to catching a train, and our food was not ready after 45 min of sitting there. we couldn't miss our train so we had to leave. one entree was not ready so they gave us something else. we paid for all of the food despite this. they did not refund us for the entree we never received. a shame too bc the food was delicious and we love supporting small local business but we won't be back :(
not really good treat with customers, the woman with the black hair on the front desk didnt allowed us to take a seat after the order was dismissed on Uber by their fault and i paid full amount for khinkali and ajaruli and the tables was free to seat but she said no you taking food away so go away, its completely shock and worst client-orientation act, since that day i didnt go there. In addition there is alcohol abuse customers when we went there before this situation we had a conflicts between guests who drinked alcohol
This place appears to be operating without a license from the Department of Health. There’s no letter grade inspection certificate to be found, which legally needs to be posted outside within four feet of the main entrance. Dine at your own risk.
Don't get lured in by the decor. Food is basic and overpriced. You pay for the show, except that there is no show at lunch... Cheese bread was more expensive than a fancy pizza in Manhattan. Dumplings were watery and tasteless. Fries were a bad joke and the shish kebab lamb was not tender. Service was super slow. In summary, it's a no go.
Not a great experience, arrived before the evening rush with just one other couple in the dining room. Waited 40 minutes, one order was great the other was not. Service was poor, service charge was added to the bill, came out to 45/person. There are better places...
Good food but expect surprise rip-off in the end. The venue charges 18% service charge, 8,875% sales tax and 4,5% credit card clearance charge plus complimentary tips. $270 food ended up costing $405.
If they have 0 stars I would give. Charged me $ 60 for some leftovers!! Salad is so not fresh and very small amount!! Don't ever desserts it's dry and tasteless. I wouldn't pay 10 dollars for that food!!! Never ever again !!
Hi, everyone!!! Couldn’t even put one ⭐️ for the experience that I had. Before you go be mindful that you will be ⭐️OVERCHARGED ⭐️for the service and ⭐️OVERCHARGED ⭐️for the service that was never provided!!! Will explain... After we ate the dinner with my friends we did asked for the check, they brought a bill for 193$ with the tip included, later on they brought another check for my husband to sign that receipt was saying “CUSTOMER SERVICE CHARGE” which was 7.72$ Plus if you want to leave a tip you can include it in this receipt. My husband left additional 16.35$ and payed all the charges using American Express credit card. We also were so in hurry, we didn’t even though that it could be lye in a charge. When we came home we went through the receipts called David (manager of restaurant) asked them check explanation... they said what does mean “CUSTOMER SERVICE CHARGE” on the separate receipt that they provided for us to pay?David explained it is a charge that merchant is charging them for a transaction using AX card.. His other question was why the receipt not saying “TRANSACTION FEE”? David said that those meanings are SAME! Is like you ordered bread and paying for fish same meaning isn’t it? 🧐 Another question was “Why did you ask for a tip if it was included in the previous check? How do you think guys is it fair to pay 33$ tip for the place which is not cleaning the plates after you ate? Is it fair to pay “CUSTOMER SERVICE CHARGE”? When I asked to provide an explanation e-mail from merchant that those meaning are same of course they didn’t have ☝️ POOR MANAGEMENT, AWFUL SERVICE, OVERCHARGING, DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND!
The worst service I've ever seen. Didn't give us most of the dishes we ordered and it took them forever to get some of the dishes. We were all starving and they didn't even care. The food that we did manage to get was pretty good.
It’s a shame!!!! One plate for all evening! Never change the plate( salad, souse, meat, fish….) and Leyla( the waitress brought us dessert and she didn’t even think to change our dessert plates. Indignation their poor service. We will never recommend that restaurant. Nice music and tasty food we’re spoiled by bad service.
Bad service, tasteless food. Waitress is the worst I ever had. We had party of 12. Our orders were coming one plate at a time with 15-20 minutes apart. Waitress was giving us a huge favor serving with unhappy expression on her face. This was our first and last time there.
I had to update my review because it used to be a good place with a cozy atmosphere, but now it’s not pleasant at all. The waiter was rude and had an attitude, it smells like a toilet, the food is not good anymore. It's not worth visiting unless you live in the neighborhood
I will start by saying the food was excellent. Everything we ordered was very delicious however, the entire overall experience was very troubling as the entire restaurant had a very strong and extremely distinct odor of mold. At first when we walked in I did not notice it but then after we ordered it really caught my attention. I kept thinking maybe it would go away, and no one in my party mentioned it so I thought maybe it was just me, but i found that half way into the meal I could just not take it anymore and everyone else was in agreement that it was pretty awful. The smell of mold in this restaurant is super strong and super distinct and you can tell the restaurant is aware of it as they made attempts to cover it up, such as several automated air fresheners being taped to the walls that kept going off. Unfortunately that did nothing to mask the stench and truly it was impossible to ignore the smell. Doesn’t matter how good the food is if it’s being served in a moldy place….sorry but will not be returning and this needs to be taken care of ASAP.
Unfortunately, I couldn't try the food because there wasn't anyone welcoming guests, and going in alone wasn't allowed. They responded rudely, saying there were no seats available even though the hall was empty. First time experiencing something like this
The worst experience I’ve had at any restaurant in NYC. Don’t trust the fake google reviews, you’ll find the truth on yelp. The bearded guy who seems to be running the place has no business being around other human beings. Thankfully there’s 10 other better Georgian restaurants in the area where you won’t be treated like spit :)
Rude waiters. Pretend like you’re not even exist, answering questions like they doing a big favor rolling up their eyeballs. Food become less tasty after that experience
Extremely disappointing! I have eaten Georgien food many times in the past, in many different countries and this place is by far the worst. Assorted Pkhali tasted awful, kebab was rubbery , overcooked and the portion was small and made as a wrap. Khinkaly was made of mixed ground beef and pork, unfortunately not with lamb options. Only tap beer taste good in this restaurant… Even the restaurant wasn’t busy we were waiting for the food very long and spent about 2 hours to finish our lunch, my meal arrived about 40min after husband’s meal, so we ended up eating separately while the other watches. Bad customer service, and with all this extra charges we didn’t even leave any tips. They will charge you twice: first - service fee 10% of the total amount after taxes. And second time when you pay they will charge some customers fee - for what, I have no idea.
We got a take out from the bakery attached to the restaurant as the restaurant is closed for in dining. This restaurant may be good before COVID but not now. The food was very stale. Poor service. The lady didn't suggest anything at all. She said every thing is tasty even though we told her that was our first time trying georgian food. The cake we had was made with old nuts and had a stale smell and taste. She tried to give us as big a chunk as possible to get rid of it and the price is weight based. Very poor service and everything was so cold. She didn't even hear it up. Don't be misled by the 4.5 rating. That's how we ended up having a terrible experience at this place. We paid a lot of money for food that is so stale that it shouldn't even be eaten.
Terrible service, good food. Not a good idea if you aren't from the former USSR. Unlike the first time with Russian friends, I returned with a non-Russian guest and dealt with absolutely horrid service. The male employee (black hair/beard) instructed us to sit ourselves and then quickly and rudely scolded us for sitting at a 4-top in an empty restaurant. We apologized and sat at a 2-top. Immediately we got the impression we weren't welcome here and so I decided to skip wine and just show my guest what Georgian cuisine was like and get out. The waiter asked if we only wanted water so we said yes. He then refused to give us water through the entire meal, forcing us to fill them in the restroom. He was rude and unhelpful the entire time chatting with his bald coworker by the bar. Then at the end he included a service charge on the bill to add insult to injury. The food was good both times but I will never return. If you aren't from the former USSR you probably should go elsewhere unless you want to be treated like trash. Awful place.
I just visited this place. I managed to order a few appetizers. When I summoned the waiter to order the main course dishes, his reply was that the kitchen has already been closed. That was around 10pm on Friday night! No prior notice of the kitchen hours was given. The place, in fact, was almost empty with only 2-3 tables occupied. No apology from the waiter even after I expressed my dissatisfaction. No attempt from the waiter (who was always smiling) to somehow rectify the situation. My first impression of the nice decor, great music and the supposedly tasty Georgian food was totally ruined with this unprofessional, the Soviet-style service. I doubt if I ever again will visit this place or have it recommended to my friends. One star is over stretch! Btw, I spoke both, English and Russian to him so there's no excuse of misunderstanding the language.
Very disappointed. My husband and I just decided to come in, but they said we can't without a table reservation. We went out and immediately called if we could reserve a table. They told us we could come in 5-10 minutes. Seriously? Why such an attitude? 👎👎👎👎👎👎raise the rating? You've lost really good customers!!
Have you ever happened to receive a check without ever asking for it, literally in the middle of your meal and without any warning? We, a group of five elderly ladies, did have that shocking experience tonight. I must say it happened for the first time in my life. It was so rude and so unexpected that we didn't even understand at first that a thing handed to us was really a check. When we asked if we could order some coffee they refused saying they were closing, though it was only 9:15 pm and according to the website the place is open daily until midnight. Obviously, they simply didn't want to stay longer because at the moment we were the only customers. In all aspects, customer care is below zero. They never showed up to ask if anything was needed. They never even offered to change the plates. We actually had, after a long wait, to call the waiter who was busy watching stuff on his phone in the empty restaurant and ask for our dirty plates to please be changed. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience. In fact, such attitude totally nullified the pleasure of the good food. I definitely wouldn't recommend that place if you don't want to feel disappointed and humiliated.
Food wasn’t bad. Everything else was horrible! The girl that met as at the entrance didn’t say anything, just was staring frown at us, so I needed to explain to her that we are guests and that we would like to have a table… later on she kept looking at us like we’re an enemy and even when she would bring something what we ordered she wouldn’t say anything! The other girl, our server was a bit better. Guy next table was vaping while we were eating and watching shorts on Instagram very loudly. We felt very uncomfortable and not welcomed.
Spoke so disrespectful on the phone and 0 customer service. Lady that picks up the phone needs to be fired.
Worst place I’ve ever walked into. I came in alone, just wanted to have a quick meal, and the attitude I got was disgusting. While I was literally just looking at the menu, some black-haired woman behind the counter rolled her eyes at me like I was a problem. Super rude. Then when I said I’d like to sit and eat, they told me it was fully booked which was a straight-up lie. There were empty tables all around. The real reason? I was a woman on my own. The whole place was filled with men, and it was painfully obvious that the waitresses were only interested in flirting with them and didn’t want any other women around. I even said I could sit at the bar and eat fast, but they clearly didn’t want me there. Rude, cold, unwelcoming just awful vibes all around. Don’t waste your time or your money here. Especially if you’re a woman. They treat you like trash.
Came here first time, and because i didn’t speak their language they tried to rip off the money from me. I ordered food for total of 35 dollars(no taxes). When i decided to check out, they said 41,i was like okay, and i see a sticker saying “ 28% discount when you pay cash”. I decided to pay with cash,to get the discount, and lady saying 41 IS WITH DISCOUNT,thats absolutely unacceptable. If you r from around here,be careful, they gonna try to rip you off!
