Skovorodka Brooklyn Reviews
If you want to try russian cousin you have to visit the restaurant SKOVORODKA on the Brighton beach. I recommend herring with potatoes and beef stroganov. The food is delicious. The portions were enormous! Absolutely amazing experience!
Absolutely amazing experience! The food was delicious — every dish was bursting with flavor and served fresh. The service was outstanding, and the owner and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The portions were enormous, so come hungry! Highly recommend this place — we can’t wait to come back!
Skovorodka is a wonderful restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service is great, and Yan, the waiter, is particularly excellent. Highly recommend this spot!”
This is not a cuisine I was especially familiar with so we simply asked the waiter what we should order and he brought out 3 amazing dishes. This baked cheese and mushroom dish was our appetizer and was fantastic. Then we had the assorted dumplings and perogis which were phenomenal. Would definitely recommend this restaurant especially if you want to try new foods
This place combines quality and affordability. The experience exceeded my imagination. The culinary skill here is apparent. The people at Skovorodka offer warm interactions. I need to explore more of Skovorodka's menu.
Went here for a friend’s birthday and it was an experience. The food was pretty good. We got mixed smoked meat platter, mixed smoked fish platter, pickled vegetable platter, pirogies, red borscht, potatoes with mushrooms, and kebab platter. A few dishes were amazing, particularly the pickled grapes and the potatoes. The pirogies were also super doughy and almost like a donut texture—also very good. The kebab platter and smoked meats were fine. The smoked fish platter was a little overpowering and could have used something to balance the intense flavor; the borscht was bland. The best part was the scene. Tons of Georgian and Russian folks dancing with an old guy doing the one man band thing playing keyboard, sax, and singing (belting out songs like “Do the Twist”, “Dancing Queen”, and… “Proud to be an American”(not your normal dancing song)). One of my friends said this was a “spiritual relative” though not culinary relative to Sammy’s Roumanian (our first choice but has been mysteriously closed the last few weeks). I’ll take the food at Sammy’s over Skovorodka—especially Sammy’s chopped liver—but this place wins the vibe war by a mile.
Aggressively cold, thinly veiled rage type customer service. I sat 5 feet from a man behind a desk watching media on the computer, the general theme of which was loud domestic disputes, mistrust, and anguish. Dusty, pseudo fancy, dollar store holiday decor left up year round, a cornucopia of mismatched interior design styles. The leather wall runners with large rhinestones give sweet 16 energy and the TJ Max French bathroom elicits suburban housewife despair. The Jimi Hendricks and chimpanzee with headphones on posters set the mood for my borscht. I dined here cause it was right off the subway & I hadn’t packed a beach lunch. But I was told just now they changed their Google search to say Ukrainian restaurant when it is in fact a Russian establishment. That is deceptive and honestly adds clarity to what I experienced here. Even so, might be back for dinner
It was our first time here and we liked it!! Live russian music (you don’t have to pay additionally for it) it just taking you back to 90-s, service is very good, food is tasty. The only thing is that meat in pirozhki and vareniki was processed too finely, not chopped which my husband didn’t like and I didn’t find okroshka and manty in menu.
Pelmeni were absolutely delicious. The dishes we mainly sampled were appetizers but that’s only because we wanted to try a little of everything that is truly Russian cuisine. It’s on par with my great-grandmother’s recipes as far as quality. The service was also exceptional, more than one server looked after our table to ensure we had the table cleared for new dishes coming from the kitchen and additionally, they spoke both English and Russian.
Good restaurant with good authentic Russian food. The dishes are quite big. Especially I liked the Borscht soup, Kharcho soup, pirogi and the beef stroganoff. What I didn't like is that they automatically included 10% service in the bill and added suggestions for 15% and higher at the end of the bill, so if you don't notice, you will pay double service... Also, their menu says that prices in the menu are subject to change without notice.
If going on the weekend, make a reservation!!! Can't go wrong with zharkoye and an apple strudel. No draft beer, but Baltika will do. Fair prices for what it is, live music, avoid table in the hallway. Cesar salad is nothing special. Descent service. Escargot is fun, but pretty oily.
Service was slow and food was bland. Waiter came by with bread that tasted like stale packaged bread from the supermarket. They could have at least heated up the bread. Ordered some chicken, it was okay. The rice tasted like minute rice. The only other thing on the plate was lettuce, which the chicken was placed on top of and sliced raw red onions. Disappointing meal.
