Kumo Brooklyn Reviews
I live in the neighborhood. I think this is definitely the best sushi in the area.
Since I wrote my initial review I have come back several times. The food is still very good and the rolls are delicious. The Crazy Tune, Green River Roll and the Spicy Girl are worth a try. My 10 yr old still loves it! The staff is super friendly. - Came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was empty. It quickly filled up. The staff is friendly and responsive. The food was very good. My son loved it. The sushi is fresh and flavorful. The tempura rolls were some of the best I have ever tasted. They have a lunch menu on weekends with bento boxes, and you can choose from some of their rolls. It was a great experience and I will definitely return soon.
best Japanese restaurant!!! I really love authentic restaurants that are hidden from prying eyes, where they are very high quality and sincere. and this is exactly the place! I’ve been going here for a year now and I don’t understand why I didn’t write a review about it before! Maybe it’s just my greed that I didn’t want to share this place?! but I think it deserves a rating of 100/10. and I hope that next time I will have the opportunity to sit at least at the bar when crowds of people come here)) but I wish the founders and staff to keep their face and quality and open more restaurants in other parts of the city))
Amazing ambience, peaceful not crowded. Good food and excellent waiting staff and chefs. You can see the chefs cook your meals and the food is delicious with garnishes galore and the wine is perfect temperature! We had the pine apple fried rice w/ beef : delicious ! But allergy warning there are cashews. Sushi’s were - shrimp avocado tempura and the Dragon king roll. They were perfectly delish and beautifully made ! For dessert : Tempura ice cream and Tempura bananas they were perfect the fried dough was light and airy with a nice berry sauce . Staff are a ten out of five and the restaurant . Quiet peaceful ambience with diligent waiters/tress’ our waitress was so nice and didn’t bother us and took note that we needed refills with out us asking !
For eight years this has been my go to neighborhood delivery spot, why? They have the fastest turn around time, friendly delivery staff, prompt customer service and accessible food options. There’s something for the whole family, especially on those rushed evenings when we need something quick and healthy. We love the noodle soups, miso, dumplings, sushi rolls and miso eggplant <3 Highly recommend for delivery!
Great food, reasonably priced, nice staff. Can't believe I don't go here more often!
We come pretty regularly here for sushi. It’s well priced and the rolls are good. We love getting all the eel options. Recently I tried the eel avocado hand roll and the sauce on it is really yummy. We’ve tried almost all their special roles and they’re good, but most of them have tempura, which is not my jam and makes it a bit limiting. All their roles have an appropriate amount of rice to other ingredients ratio and the presentation is quite pretty. My favorite is the cortelyou roll, but the dragon one is not too far behind.
Pretty good sushi restaurant in Ditmas Park. The service in this place is fast. I got the Crazy Tuna Roll and Angel Roll. Both were very tasty. The clam soup was also good. The only bummer was my Pinot Grigio. For $6.00 it tasted a bit watered down. I would come here again to try something else being that they have an extensive menu.
The place is clean and the staff was nice. They have pretty good lunch specials. I had rolls and miso soup and it was good. However, no bar but they have wine. In the summer they have outside seating in the back of the store. The bathrooms was clean too and they have takeout. Outside of that it is your normal Japanese restaurant..
I typically order delivery or pick up from this place, and I've noticed a significant decline in the quality of their sushi over the past few months. Recently, I ordered two special rolls that were supposed to feature raw fish topped with tobiko and ikura. Unfortunately, the last pieces of the rolls had exposed rice and were lacking the fish. The salmon was mostly fat and skin, indicating improper cleaning and slicing. Additionally, the tobiko was sparse, the avocado was overripe, and the crunch inside was excessive. I understand that expectations can vary with lunch specials, but at about $15 per roll (dinner time), this was disappointing. I used to love this local spot, but after a few mediocre deliveries, I'm looking for other options.
I ate here about two weeks ago. I got the lunch special. A day later I developed the worst food poisoning I’ve ever had in my entire life and spent 6 days hospitalised with 2 bacterial and 1 viral infection. I was on IV drips, and had horrible diarrhea. I wouldn’t go back here if someone paid me. That was the scariest experience I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve attached screenshots from MyChart as proof.
I saw roaches on floor . Not sanitary they should get a C grade. People will get sick if they don't be careful.
I went to this restaurant and ordered my meal. While I was waiting, I noticed the guy at the front, who seemed to be the supervisor, digging his nose. It was such a turn-off. When I mentioned it to him, he had an attitude. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. When he came to take my order when speak to Me he accidentally spat on the table he didn't even apologize or even whip the table he just continued speaking and it was alot u was shocked and disgusted at the same time I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE
This place is filthy beyond belief roaches crawling everywhere. The staff is not only unhelpful but downright rude and dismissive. The food? Inedible and overpriced. There are flies on your food and flying around. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else it is not worth the risk. I got extremely sick after eating here.
