La Superior Brooklyn Reviews
Came for the tacos, stayed for the Milanesa. The Mezcalitas go as spicy as you like and I like to feel the burn! So many hype mexican places popping up, but this is where all those owners come when their shift is over. The gringas are the best you can find for any gringo. Garlic shrimp is the best kept secret. Very good music selection is the cherry on top. No chimichangas over here… OG spot since 2008. If you know, you know.
Went for a late lunch and the place was empty. I had perfectly crunchy chips and a flight of fresh tasting salsas. The enchiladas I ordered were probably the fanciest enchiladas I've ever had. The sauce was beautifully bright red and light. They apparently grow their own chiles and use them in their recipes. I will definitely come back.
What’s my favorite street style taqueria? La Superior, no doubt. I’ve been in this neighborhood for a while and this is my go-to when I crave good (and shockingly affordable) tacos. My recos: cebollitas, carnitas taco, pescado zarandeado taco. Their staff is extremely nice and everything in there equals good vibes. No reservations, get there early. I would not recommend for big groups. You can pay cash or debit card; credit card has a small fee.
The food was really good, not so close to the mexican original, but with excellent taste. The service was, though, extremely good. I asked for something that belonged in the dinner menu, and I mentioned that I went all the way there just to try that particular dish. They were kind enough to prepare it for me. Just for that kind of service, I would come back and recomend it to my friends.
We tried a number of different tacos and they are all delicious. I had limeade, tasted homemade in a good way, and only $3 for a big glass. The sides of grilled scallions, guacamole, and corn with cheese and mayo were also good but pricier compared to the tacos. The servers are very nice.
The taco meat itself was pretty tender and flavorful, but the tortillas were dry and seemed store bought. Margaritas were super tasty! I would come back just for another guava marg. Atmosphere was super chill, a bit small and kept getting hit with gusts of freezing air as people came in and out. Service was so great, very attentive staff :)
Food: Tried a variety of tacos, overall for the price and size it was disappointing because it lacked flavor. The two tacos that were great was the Pescado Zarandeado and Camaron al chipotle. Drinks: Cuba Libre was delicious, however the Michelada had Clamato but was not spicy. Good prices on drinks though. Service was good. Equal amount of space inside and out. Also, it is no longer cash only, but they charge a small fee for using credit cards.
So I’ll start off by saying the food for us was very good and very flavorful I got the tinga chicken tacos and hubby got the carne asada tacos which he liked his came with pico de gallo nothing else and mine- came with just the meat. I mean, no toppings like pico de gallo, guac or cheese? We’re Hispanic! My hubbys mexican! These are musts! Lol… The service was okay we didn’t have a bad experience like some other people have mentioned but for the prices not sure if I’d exactly recommend this place. Also they don’t take credit card which kinda sucked. But! We did like our tacos. Just wished they’d add more toppings
It’s kind of tucked away in residential neighbourhood and a bit of a walk from the metro, but if you are in the area and have appetite for some street tacos this is the place to go. We had a selection of tacos pork, beef, fish, and shrimp and each was very tasty. Complex flavours, well prepared and executed. Recommended. Low prices but cash only. Seems to be a local favourite too, but if you are a tourist and choose this place from reading this review drop me a like.
Truly authentic spot, near the Williamsburg Opera House and open til midnight! The bar was aesthetically traditional, the menu too, but no photos. Appetizer queso w/mushrooms really surprised us, came with tortillas instead of chips; nice touch! However, the quesadilla looked a bit like an empanada, but larger with a tougher exterior. It wasn’t fun to eat and came out well after our other entree. And the bartender never addressed it.
Was really excited to try this place based off things o read and heard. The style is “Mexico City “ and since I often travel there my hopes were high. To be honest it fell kinda short. Not bad but not special either. The pambazo was okay, the chorizo was fresh but to much lime it over shadowed the sandwich. The taco was okay, the tortilla wasn’t anything special and it was quite small. The esquites were the best thing I had. Really flavorful. The staff was super kind and the place was clean.
Our server was pretty rude and told us to “keep it quiet,” even though we were just a group of three girls having a normal conversation. It felt unnecessary and unwelcoming. I really wanted to like this place, but the attitude made it hard to enjoy the night.
Food was just okay and service was decent, however WITHOUT telling me they added a 30% service charge for my party of 5, and then when it came time to pay the server handed me an iPad with an option to tip, again no heads up that I already was charged a 30% service fee, and she watched me tip an additional 30% on top of that. When I looked over my receipt the next day and called them to sort it out, no resolution was offered and they just “too bad we’re keeping your money”. Really sketchy and unethical business practices, and the food just isn’t worth the being ripped off. Sad to see it.
