Samurai Mama Brooklyn Reviews
The sushi here is simply outstanding—beautifully presented, precise, and deeply satisfying. The ambiance is calm and refined, the service warm and attentive without being intrusive, exactly what you want from a Japanese sushi experience. The Nagatoro stood out in particular: rich, flavorful, and delicately plated. Thoughtful touches like offering both spicy soy and regular soy were appreciated. The miso soup was a clear, comforting broth, and the salad was crisp and fresh. Everything felt considered and well executed. Absolutely worth the trip from the Upper East Side, and very much a place I’ll return to.
I been here many times and never disappoints. The food is great and I always bring a friend over when they are craving for their first time udon, ramen or their creative ideas! Now my friend had his first proper udon experience and he really loved it! (He had pork curry udon) Highly recommend the taco sushi and the spicy washugyu bukkake ramen. Now if you love the soup itself more than the food then... this might not be for you as the soup is pour on top of the food but the base is much more concentrated as they mentioned. I have no problem with either and it's actually very tasty. So if you are adventurous and want to try something out of the ordinary this is recommended for you!
loved this place! got the dipping style udon (amazing) and the sushi tacos (amazing). happy hour deal was insane and they even came over before it ended and asked ic we wanted anything else before jt was over. all around a great place with kind people- really cozy.
Vibes are immaculate ✨ I wish more restaurants had low lights and community tables. This made for good people watching while enjoying perfect Udon Curry with friends. The food is always so good—in particular stop in on cold nights or rainy days to warm up within these wooden walls. Groups, family, or date night—this place is it.
Came in for an impromptu dinner date and eating at Samurai Mama was perfect! The dishes were all playfully vibrant in both presentation and taste. We ordered the Fried Shishito Peppers & Brussels Sprouts and the Squash which both tasted delicious. For our entree we got the Kinoko Tsukeji Udon and their special Cold Ramen. The Kinoko Tsukeji udon tasted savory and deep with the dipping aspect making for the perfectly textured bite every time. The special Cold Ramen was refreshing and zesty. For a dad’s night, these two dishes felt balanced and delicious. Can’t wait until next time!
Hidden Gem for Authentic Japanese! This Japanese restaurant was a delightful surprise! From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The chef's attention to detail truly shone through. He even recommended a special cold ramen dish, perfect for a scorching NYC day - it was a visually stunning and refreshing combination of chilled noodles, crisp and colorful vegetables, and a perfectly cooked slice of chashu pork. I paired it with a refreshing Japanese IPA, and the flavors were incredible. Service was top-notch, and I felt genuinely cared for throughout my meal. Highly recommend this place - I'll definitely be back!
Delicious. The service was great. The atmosphere was fantastic. When asking for advice on an order they were happy to give it. We really enjoyed the gyoza. Crispy and flavorful, the condiments on top was amazing with it. The sukiyaki udon? Phenomenal. Highly recommend. Don't sleep on this place!!!
I cannot recommend this place enough. The ingredients are of the highest quality. It is a fairly small menu, but everything they do is incredible. The sushi tacos are wonderful. Every bite is fresh, and extremely flavorful. The garlic fried chicken is also amazing. Everything is light, and clean, while not sacrificing flavor. I need to come back to try every dish. The staff were extremely kind, helpful, and attentive. The interior decor was very nice, cozy and elegant. Great date night spot, and fairly priced too. I highly recommend this place.
I had much higher hopes that what I actually ate. Maybe it was an off night, everything seemed basic and small for the price. Staff were super busy, but not attentive. Might have needed more? The food was just good, not bad, but also not the special that I was expecting to get. The portions were small. The place was loud. I would give it another chance, because my partner said it was really good.
If you have Ramen, Sushi, good music, good drinks and good service all under one roof…well I’m there. Really wanted to give 5 star review for Samurai Mama however the only minor detail holding back is the broth on their original Ramen is a bit thin and lacking that rich deep flavor. Maybe it was just a one time fluke but overall I was very content. Definitely coming back soon to try their own house made Udon.
Udon was pretty good, amazing noodles but broth was a bit boring. I'd go back for food except the service is really annoying. They are nice, but there were 3 separate waiters hovering over us, constantly someone refilling your cup that you took 1 sip from, removing something from the table the second you're done. They need to chill out a bit. We felt very hurried.
